5 Ways to Use Old Pumpkin in Your Beauty Routine

0
0

You've spent the day in a frenzy of scooping, carving and painting, leaving you with a spooky cute lineup of jack-o-lanterns and a whole lot of leftover pumpkin guts. What's a girl to do with all that goo? Why, use it in her beauty routine, of course! Raw pumpkin is super rich in alpha hydroxy acids that promote cell turnover, plus zinc and vitamin E which are both great for those with oily or acne-prone skin. Need some pumpkin-spiced skinspiration? Look no further.

1. Body Scrub

For a gentle body scrub that will smell so good you'll want to eat it, you'll need:

  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree (here's a recipe for how to make it)
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • (Optional) 1 tsp each of nutmeg and cinnamon for that iconic pumpkin spice scent

Recipe from OneGreenPlanet.

2. Face Mask

Need a mid-autumn facial? Pumpkin's got your back (or face, I should say). Whip up a brightening and nourishing mask with just a few ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.

  • 1/4 cup of pumpkin puree
  • 1 whole egg
  • Have dry skin? Add a teaspoon of honey. Oily skin got ya down? A little apple cider vinegar will do just the trick.

Recipe from POPSUGAR Beauty

3. Hair Mask

For dry and brittle strands, pumpkin can go a long way in restoring your hair's natural shine and bounciness. Bustle provides this deep conditioning DIY that will definitely breathe life back into dull hair. You will need:

  • 2 oz raw pumpkin
  • 2 oz raw shea butter
  • 2 oz raw, liquefied coconut oil
  • 1 oz fixed vegetable oil (like sunflower or olive oil)
  • 1 tsp oatmeal powder

4. Facial Exfoliator

Unlike body scrubs, physical facial exfoliant need to be gentler, because facial skin is thinner and more sensitive. This sugars in this scrumptious face scrub will help buff away dead skin and blackheads, while the pumpkin and vitamin E will keep everything soft and supple. For this skin treat, you'll need:

  1. 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  2. 1/2 cup each of organic white and brown sugar
  3. 1/2 tsp vitamin E oil
  4. (Optional) 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

DIY from Live Simply.

5. Hand Treatment

Hands often get ignored in beauty routines, but they're so important to take care of! Keep your hands from cracking in chilly weather with this easy to make moisturizer. All you'll need is:

  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon oil of your choosing
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Recipe from TreeHugger.

Step Aside, Millennial Pink–Yellow & Lilac Are the New 'It' Colors You Need to Be Wearing

0
0

Tumblr pink, baby pink, millennial pink––whatever you want to call it, there's absolutely no denying how pervasive the color has been in the past few years. From taking over food trends to dominating our Instagram feeds, this rosy hue has easily established itself as the "it" color of our generation. I mean, it's a good fit––we're bubbly and bright, we live for that #aesthetic life and sometimes, we can be downright vain.

But like all things, the reign of millennial pink is ending, and (two!) new colors are claiming the throne. If you're the kind of person that stays one step ahead of trends, you might have already noticed how lilac and the so-called "Gen-Z Yellow" are making their way onto the cultural radar.

And of course, Rihanna has already embraced it.

Why these specific colors, though? Bustle highlighted Erika Woelfel, color expert for Behr Paint, who explained the significance. "Yellow represents vitality and ambition, traits we’re seeing in this upcoming generation of taste-makers." As for lilac, she notes a hearkening back to the pastel obsession of the '50s. "Lilac feels more grown-up than pink and creates a welcoming and calm aura. I think we’ll be seeing [more] variations of these dusted plum, amethyst-esque shades."

Feeling inspired to incorporate these hues into your wardrobe? Places like Urban Outfitters and H&M are great shops to get on-trend pieces, like the iconic Kanken backpack you see all over Tumblr.

Fjallraven Kanken Mini Backpack ($65 at Urban Outfitters

Short Coat ($39.99 at H&M)

What do you collegiettes think? Are you ready for a change of color, or is it millennial pink forever and always?

5 Signs You've Outgrown Your College Friends ( & Why That’s Okay)

0
0

For many freshmen entering college, the fear of making friends and creating lasting relationships is at the forefront of our minds. However, by the time senior year rolls around, we’ve made our mark on campus and have connected with people from classes to clubs to parties. Unfortunately, as we leave the halls of academia and head into the real world, maintaining those relationships can be hard and for many of us, we struggle with knowing if they’re worth the effort. Here are five signs that might prove it’s time to move on from your college friends.

1. Your only form of communication is through social media

Social media is the way to connect these days, but if the only way you’re staying updated with your friend’s life is through their posts and pictures, you might want to reconsider your relationship. Maybe this is because you’re no longer invested in the relationship and it’s perfectly okay to feel this way. Not all relationships are permanent and moving on from college means moving on from certain people. While you can post a picture from your phone, you can also use it to call your friend and see how they’re doing, but if the will or want to do so is fleeting, it’s time to reevaluate.

2. You find yourself connecting with other people on a deeper level

Making meaningful friendships in college was simple: you lived close by, decided to attend the same school and more than likely had similar interests. However, as you entered the real world, reality hit and the same people you once connected with over a cup of coffee after a final, are now changing and so are you. Katie*, a senior in college, says she’s already beginning to feel her friendships shift. She says, “It’s tough to have to continue to explain that I’m working to a group of people who are making the most of the 'college experience.' Of course, I still have some amazing friends who understand and are my cheerleaders; however, I’m in my fourth year—it’s hard to stay around some people who have the same habits they did in first year, and fault you for not sharing them.” Understanding that your friendships will shift and change is crucial, and when you find yourself connecting with new people, take that as a sign of growth and know you’re on the right track to a better you.

3. When you need them, they’re not there

We all have hard days, and as we enter into the adult world we begin to experience new things and learn new lessons. However, for many of us calling on our friends becomes our lifeline and when the same friends you once called on in college are no longer around, it can be a wake-up call that your friends are no longer as invested in you as you are in them. Take this in stride and know it’s okay to move on. And above all else you can take this as an opportunity to focus on new friendships.

4. You’re taking a different path

While age is just a number, the years immediately following college are different for so many of us. Between careers, romantic relationships and the in-betweens that life throws at us, keeping up is hard to do. Cayla Pavlovec a social media specialist and graduate of Millersville University, says, “It was really hard to stay connected with a group of people whose futures were going in a completely different path than yours. I was ready to move anywhere in the country for a job and they were already looking at houses and thinking about babies. I was never negative about their aspirations, and I always congratulated them on their next milestone and sent cards, but they were just getting harder and harder to connect with.” Having the strength to acknowledge your lives with your college friends are no longer aligned is a healthy and important step to take in your young adult life, and know you’re not alone in this.

5. You realize your friendship in college were not that strong to begin with

Leaving college allows you the opportunity to branch out and pave a new path. In doing so, you have the opportunity to look back on the friendships you cultivated in college and reflect on what they taught you. Sometimes in that reflection you may discover that some of the friendships you once had in college were merely there for convenience or ease. Teresa Smith, a psychologist based in Chicago, Illinois, notes this as the "nostalgia effect." She says, "It's easy to hold onto and replay positive memories, but you must make yourself aware that those memories are in the past and not every single factor in that memory is something that needs to be brought to the present." While holding on stories of your college days and the fun times is what we all do, it's perfectly healthy and okay to know that not everyone from those memories needs to be carried with you. The friendships you created in college were right for you during those years, and not every single friendship you still have will be right for you in the future, and that's okay.

Navigating young adulthood is tricky, and having to do it while the fate of your college friendships hangs in the air is hard. But as Sydnee Lyons, a recent graduate of Florida Atlantic University, offers, “I think it’s important not to guilt yourself or your friends for these natural changes, assuming nothing went terribly wrong. People change as they grow up and it’s difficult to expect everyone else in your life to change in just the same ways and at the same rate as you are.” So, fret no more post-grads, life is only getting better and saying goodbye to no longer meaningful friendships is natural, and curating new ones is only a wonderful side effect of entering the adult world.

A Russian Singer Was Reportedly Murdered After Being Detained In Chechnya's Anti-LGBT Concentration Camps

Following his disappearance from the Chechen capital in August and rumors that he had left the province, NewNowNext reports that Russian singer Zelimkhan Bakayev, 26, was reportedly arrested in Chechnya and allegedly tortured to death within hours of his arrival.

Bakayev was last seen on August 8 in the Chechen capital Grozny, where he was visiting family for his sister's wedding. Sources told NewNowNext, however, that he was abducted by Chechen authorities just three hours after landing.

Chechnya, a province of Russia, has come under fire by the larger international community over the last year for their anti-gay policies with larger allegations that the government was systematically arresting, torturing and detaining gay and bisexual men in concentration camps — with reports that at least 100 were arrested and three were killed as of early 2017. There were also reports, as HuffPost notes, that families were encouraged to kill their gay sons themselves before the government did it

Meanwhile Chechen officials, on the record, instead just denied the existence of gay men in Chechnya, per the Washington Post.

“This is nonsense,”  Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov reportedly said when asked about the allegations of persecution of gay and bisexual men. “We don't have those kinds of people here. We don't have any gays. If there are any, take them to Canada"

Bakaev, who was born in Chechnya before rising as a popular singer in Eastern Europe.[also reportedly had "regular panic attacks" at the thought of visiting family in Chechnya, fully aware of the horrifying ways they treated gay and bisexual men.

According to NewNowNext, during a press conference on Monday, where a victim of the anti-gay purge detailed his horrific experience of being repeatedly threatened, forced to fight his partner and tortured in a Grozny concentration camp, Founder of the Russian LGBT Network, Igor Kochetkov, also discussed Bakayev’s disappearance.

“We received confirmation of our earlier presumption that Bakayev was detained by Chechen authorities due to suspicion of homosexuality,” he said.

Russian TV stations have reported that a video has surfaced of a person who looks like Bakayev claiming to have moved to Germany, adding that Bakayev messaged his Aunt and Mother on WhatsApp telling them he was living abroad before his phone number became unavailable. However, many advocates and friends of Bakayev claim that the video is questionable on several accounts, particularly because of the furniture and Russian brand energy drink shown in the video that aren't available in Germany.

Officials in Chechnya have continued to deny the existence of the camps and a reportedly threatening survivors who come forward publicly with their stories.

Three Months Later, Father of Fallen Soldier Received The $25,000 Check Trump Promised Him

President Trump fulfilled his promise to send a $25,000 check to the family of fallen solider, Dillon Baldridge, according to The Washington Post. The check came over 3 months after Trump called Chris Baldridge, Dillon’s father, and offered the money. The timing, however, is a little bit suspicious.

The news that Trump had finally sent the check came the same day that The Washington Post first revealed that he hadn’t followed through on the offer. The Post stated that the White House wouldn’t even discuss the events in detail at first.

Lindsay Walters, White House spokeswoman, told CNN that “it’s disgusting that the media is taking something that should be recognized as a generous and sincere gesture, made privately by the President, and using it to advance the media’s biased agenda.”

In Trump’s letter to Chris Baldridge, the President says that his legal counsel was to blame for the wait. “There is a substantial process that can involve multiple agencies anytime the President interacts with the public, especially when transmitting personal funds,” according to a White House spokesperson. They went on to express that the timing of the Washington Post’s report was coincidental.

The spokesperson went on to say that, “the President has personally followed up several times to ensure that the check was being sent” and it has been in the works ever since the initial phone call.

A picture of the check shared by a reporter from ABC-11 in North Carolina confirmed that the check came from Trump’s personal account.

Baldridge has yet to comment on receiving the check, but said in the past that he was “floored” by the President’s offer.

This all coincides with the aftermath of Trump’s alleged comments about Sgt. La David Johnson and his subsequent social media attacks aimed at Johnson's widow.

According to Frederica Wilson, Democratic representative for Florida’s 24th District, President Trump told Johnson’s widow that the fallen sergeant "knew what he signed up for, but I guess it still hurt."

Blake Lively Wished Ryan Reynolds a Happy Birthday in the Most Savage Way

0
0

Even if Anna Faris and Chris Pratt hadn’t called it quits earlier this year, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively would still be dominating the celebrity couple game—or really just the couple game in general. Not only are they completely adorable and in love (obviously), but they also prove that couples who troll one another stay together.

In the latest edition of "Blake and Ryan tease each other on social media," Blake posted a picture in honor of Ryan’s birthday—with one tiny catch.

Happy Birthday, baby.

A post shared by Blake Lively (@blakelively) on

Yep, that’s the other gorgeous, famous Ryan: Ryan Gosling. Standing with about a quarter of Blake's husband. If you often get the two Ryans confused (Gosling even referenced this in his 2017 Golden Globes acceptance speech), it might take a second to realize the joke.

Blake’s post is just one in a long series of witty back-and-forth exchanges between the husband and wife. Luckily, we all have the privilege of watching their shenanigans play out over social media.

Just this year, Ryan posted this for Blake’s birthday:

Happy Birthday to my amazing wife.

A post shared by Ryan Reynolds (@vancityreynolds) on

And let’s not forget the time Ryan sincerely wished Billy Ray Cyrus the happiest of birthdays…on the same day as Blake's birthday.

Blake’s been just as savage. Like when she wanted to honor the most influential person in her life, John Legend, but Ryan got in the way.

These two are what it means to be couple goals. Happy (late) birthday, Ryan. It seems like Blake is all you need.

I Tried Peace Out Acne Healing Dots, & Why Aren't These Available In Canada Yet?!

Who hasn’t been told to love the skin you're in? A common phrase, but way easier said than done. It's one thing to say that you’re confident, yet it's an entirely different thing to actually beconfident. Personally, I know that I’m not quite as confident as I should be when it comes to my skin. While I project that I’m a generally confident person, waking up with an unsightly pimple in the middle of my forehead, a bad hair day or even being bloated can seriously impact the way that I feel. Sure, a lot of this has to do with the unrealistic societal standards that I have unwillingly adopted, and I've allowed them to influence the way that I view myself.

One of society’s greatest stigmas is around acne. Sure, I think that we’ve progressed past that middle school point of actually pointing and staring about the spots on someone's face, but acne is not something we necessarily accept, especially as beautiful. When we were growing up, we didn’t see our favorite Disney channel stars with a whiteheads on their forehead or natural-looking skin, and it was taught to us pretty early on that any blemishes on our faces were something that should be fixed immediately.

The US alone spends over $1 billion on acne products every year, a statistic that makes it pretty apparent that the common mentality surrounding acne is that it needs to be fixed. In high school I struggled with acne, and it generally showed its ugly head right around my time of the month. (Side note––can we just talk about how much hormonal acne sucks?) I think I must have tried seemingly every acne product on the market. Every time my acne would flare up, I would run to the nearest drug store and buy whatever overpriced product that salesperson was willing to sell to me, based on my desperation. I would use it for the month, thinking that it was working after my acne would decrease and after my period was over. Then, the next month, when my acne came back, I would get upset, thinking that it was the fault of the new product, and buy something else. Not only was this practice breaking the bank, but it actually wasn’t good for my skin. It never allowed for it to adjust to a product, thus constantly putting it in a state of limbo. When I got to university, I went on the birth control pill after a doctor recommended it to finally beat my acne once and for all. While the pill did drastically improve my acne situation during three weeks of every month, leaving my skin almost spot-less, I still broke out around my period. Even now, every month I seem to get used to not having acne, but get surprised when it comes back each time like clockwork.

Needless to say, when Her Campus offered me the opportunity to try Peace Out Acne Healing Dots ($19 at Sephora), I jumped at it.

When I first learned what Peace Out Acne Healing Dots (POAHD), I loved the idea of them. They’re not meant to replace skincare; you’re still going to need to use a daily cleanser, exfoliator, etc. They’re meant to fix your acne afterit has happened, which was such an appealing concept to me.

Before POAHD, I knew when a zit would be coming. As if running out to the store at 11 p.m. to buy tampons wasn't a good enough indicator, I could usually tell the night before when a small bump will turn into a massive whitehead the next day (sorry for the TMI). Usually, when I would come to this realization, I tried every face mask I owned, lost hope and started to pick at it, which we all know is the biggest no-no when it comes to treating acne. When the time came to try POAHD, I opened my first package of the dots. They look like small, flesh-colored stickers, and are lined up on a thin piece of plastic, allowing you to pull off each one individually and store the rest in a sealed bag. I popped a few of the dots on brewing zits and went to sleep, unsure of what to expect in the morning.

Here’s the description of POAHD on Sephora’s website:

“These patent-pending acne dots are the first and only treatment to combine hydrocolloid technology with blemish-fighting actives. Infused with salicylic acid to kick acne-causing bacteria to the curb, they also contain vitamin A to help support natural skin turnover and aloe vera to soothe redness. Hydrocolloid technology extracts impurities while creating a protective barrier that guards against external irritants. By protecting your blemishes from bacteria, inflammation, and picking, these dots also reduce the potential for acne scarring. Whether you're struggling with hormonal acne, whiteheads, or inflamed pimples, your blemish is less red, less painful, and significantly less irritating in as little as six hours.”

These were definitely some big words to live up to. Yet, I was shocked the next morning when I peeled the dots off and discovered that they actually stayed true to their claim. The whiteheads, which previously would have been in their full glory without the spots, were drastically reduced and smaller than they were the night before. However, progressively throughout the day, they started to refill again. By the end of the next day (while they were nowhere near the size that they would have usually been) there were still alive and kicking.

This is the first trend that I saw with the dots: they’ll reduce the size of your whiteheads for a few days, each day making the spot smaller and smaller until its' completely gone. However, the spot is always smallest in the morning right after the healing dot has been used, and biggest at night right before using another healing dot. While it's effective to continue to use the healing dots each day, it's important to note that you only get 20 dots in the $19 package, meaning that each dot comes out to slightly less than a dollar.

The next hurdle that I faced, which I expanded on more in my video was filming without any makeup on. As soon as I agreed to do this project, I got a sinking feeling––how was I going to show improvements on my skin while wearing makeup? The only possible way to complete this project would be to show my face on camera and to the world while not wearing any makeup. After starting a Youtube channel completely surrounding my love of makeup and, more importantly, my love of wearing makeup, doing the complete opposite in such a public way was terrifying. Not only did it force me to show what my actual skin looked like without anything to cover it, but I had to show what my eyebrows look like while not filled in (which is a very 2017 problem, I know). When “Instagram brows” became a trend a couple of years ago, I took to over plucking my naturally full brows in order to create that “dramatic” look, under the belief that no one would see me without them filled in anyway…. which turned out to be very poor logic.

Over the course of the week, I saw a drastic improvement with the POAHD. While they only affected the specific spots themselves and did not impact my overall skin, they did wonders for my self-confidence. I know that it's corny to say and embarrassing to admit at 21, but I still get transported back to the hellish middle school days when I felt like I couldn’t control my face every time a giant zit poppped up. I know I can’t be the only one who feels as though everyone is staring at their zit all day long, and undoubtedly spending more time out of my day focusing on it than anyone else. With POAHD, I feel as though I finally found a solution to these somewhat uncommon spots that I previously didn’t know what to do with.

Here's the before and after results from the experiment.

Before

After

I would definitely recommend these spots to anyone who wants to target specific areas of their face, and like any good millennial, is desperate for a quick fix when it comes to acne. Now the only problem is, why can’t I buy these in Canada?

Why Do We Believe Famous, Powerful Men More Than Women?

0
0

The opinions expressed in this article are the author's own and do not reflect the views of Her Campus.

If there’s a phenomenon regarding high-profile sexual assault accusations that I don’t understand, it’s the idea that women accuse rich, powerful and famous men of sexual assault because they want money and/or fame. Yet again, a man of large wealth and prestige, this time Harvey Weinstein, has been accused of sexually assaulting and abusing women. Yet again, people on the internet are responding with disbelief. We see this with dozens of other cases, like the Bill Cosby accusations, and it makes no sense whatsoever. The vast majority of sexual violence goes unreported, and of the incidents that are reported, less than 20 percent lead to an arrest. Less than 20 percent of those arrests even lead to a referral to a prosecutor, and the numbers dwindle even further when looking at the felony convictions and incarceration rates of the perpetrators. In other words, even in the unlikely event that sexual assault is reported, statistics show that alleged perpetrators rarely have to appear in court or go to prison. Thus, it’s unlikely that an accusation of sexual assault would lead to the accuser gaining money from the accusation.

Let’s now move on to the claim that women could gain fame from these accusations. Sure, their names could appear in newspaper headlines a few times, but often, the stories about women who come forward about sexual abuse and assault aren’t very flattering or positive. Often, the women get blamed for the incidents and people accuse them of all sorts of nasty things, not least of which being seeking attention.

As for the idea that being accused of sexual assault can ruin the alleged perpetrator’s career, let’s take a stroll down the lane of men whose careers have been devastated by accusations of sexual assault and rape. Woody Allen, Cee-Lo Green, Michael Jackson, Kobe Bryant, Sean Penn, Casey Affleck, R. Kelly, Roman Polanski, Alfred Hitchcock, Marlon Brando and, of course, Donald Trump. None of these men suffered more than temporary setbacks to their careers, if they suffered any at all. Time and time again, men accused of sexual violence have been allowed to continue their careers and have been given the benefit of the doubt. The public is incredibly lenient with these famous and powerful men, many of whom are white, and much less liable to believe the women who accuse them. If any woman were to accuse a rich and powerful man of sexual violence in the hopes of ruining his career, she would almost definitely not succeed, if we're judging by these examples.

Yes, some rape accusations are false, and some men’s careers are damaged as a result of false rape accusations, but the vast majority of accusations aren’t false. The vast majority of high-profile accusations of rape neither ruin the men’s careers nor benefit the women who accuse them. It makes no logical sense to believe that women accuse rich and famous men of rape and sexual assault in order to gain something. Most often, the women are unfortunately usually the ones who suffer not only the assault, but also the backlash they receive if they talk about being assaulted, while the rich and powerful men continue on with their careers without facing any of the consequences.

Of course, it’s important to be critical of the news we read and hear, but it’s also important to take women seriously when they say that they’ve been assaulted or abused, no matter what situation they’re in or whom they’re accusing. Maybe if we start taking women seriously when they come forward with their stories of abuse and assault,  there will be fewer cases of sexual violence.

If we cultivate a society that’s intolerant of sexual violence, fewer people will commit sexual violence.

After all, isn’t that what we all want––less sexual assault and abuse?  We all need to commit to creating a safer society for everyone, and that means taking women seriously when they say they’ve been raped, assaulted, or abused.

Kelly Clarkson Said She Wanted to Kill Herself When She Was Skinny

0
0

After years as a major name in pop music, Kelly Clarkson revealed fame wasn't always the perfect picture it seemed to be. The singer opened up about her battle with weight and how it contributed to the lowest points in her career.

"When I was skinny, I wanted to kill myself. I was miserable, like inside and out, for four years of my life. But no one cared, because aesthetically you make sense," Kelly told Attitudemagazine. “It was a very dark time for me. I thought the only way out was quitting. I like wrecked my knees and my feet because all I would do is put in headphones and run. I was at the gym all the time." Clarkson also revealed executives pressured her to stay slim, making it that much harder for her.

It was after the release of My December that Kelly began to realize she needed to take back control of her life and live how she wanted to. "I was around some really negative people, and I got out of it because I had a lot of really great people there too. It was a case of turning around, facing them and walking toward the light."

Thankfully, she did take control back and she's still in the music industry—she'll release her eighth album, Meaning of Life, on Oct. 27. For Kelly, this work is much different than her earlier music. "I listened to all these songs for the last 15 years, you can tell there's a suppressed individual in there. It's very liberating to work in an environment that's healthy."

Kelly took to Twitter following the interview's publication to clear up a few of her statements, specifically those regarding suicide. "I’ve never contemplated suicide because of my weight.I said people had no idea I was unhappy oddly enough because I appeared healthy," she wrote.

She also tweeted, "Just to clear something up. I wasn’t ever miserable because I had to be thin. I said I was miserable & as a result I became thin."

I'm so glad there's a happy ending to this story. It's important to remember that everyone struggles with body image issues, and it's not something that should be taken lightly. I'm excited to hear Kelly's new music and the difference she's talking about. Good for you, Kelly.

Kim & Kourtney Kardashian Look Like They're Trying to Hide Khloé's Baby Bump in This Instagram Post

0
0

The world is really struggling to keep up with the Kardashians these days. Middle sister Khloé Kardashian has yet to confirm rumors that she is pregnant with boyfriend Tristan Thompson's baby. Meanwhile, baby sis Kylie Jenner may or may not be carrying new beau Travis Scott's child. And then there's Kim Kardashian, who is definitely expecting her third kid with husband Kanye West via surrogate. The famous fam is thus far doing a fabulous job of covering up any pregnancy evidence, but fans are onto them.

It's no surprise that people are shook by the possibility of three more Kardashian-Jenners coming into the world. As the whole family stays hush on the topic, fans have their eyes peeled more than ever, hoping to uncover any spec of proof that Khloé and Kylie are, indeed, pregnant. Most recently, suspicions rose from a post on Kim's Instagram.

As the thousands of comments show, people are accusing Kim and Kourtney of hiding Khloé's stomach in the photo. Refinery29 also points out the sisters' choice of apparel: Kim and Kourtney are rocking form-fitting, cleavage-bearing outfits, while Khloé shows absolutely no skin or curves and is hidden in the background.

Take San Fran...?

A post shared by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on

Some of the comments read, "Funny how they are blocking Khloé's stomach,""Khloe must be pregnant. Why she hiding behind Kim, and Kourtney?" and "Khloe is usually front and center with her sisters and now she's hiding in the back lol." It's safe to say these followers are extremely vigilant, but could they be onto something? Without an official confirmation of the news, we are left to wonder whether KoKo is really about to be a mom or if the sisters are just trolling us.

KJ Apa Isn't Exactly a Fan of Archie's Music on 'Riverdale'

0
0

Archie Andrews is a man of many talents: solving murder mysteries, dating every girl in school, casually taking his shirt off and rockin' that red hair like it's nobody's business. But music? Well…not so much.

During the first season of Riverdale, KJ Apa's character was caught in the classic High School Musical dilemma of sports versus singing. While he and his friends tried to find Jason Blossom's killer, Archie debated between focusing on football or pursuing the secret music career he'd always dreamed about. Let's just say the red-headed heartthrob should have stuck to football.

Now if Archie wanted to serenade me (shirtless, preferably), I wouldn't pass on the opportunity. Watching KJ play the guitar on-screen definitely wasn't terrible, and his voice isn't half bad either. There has yet to be a performance from Arch in Season 2—probably because Archie is just a little busy looking for the hooded man who's wreaking havoc on Riverdale, saving Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe, dating Veronica Lodge and staying up all hours of the night to protect his father, Fred Andrews. But is it really such a bad thing if Archie never sings again?

KJ himself isn't super impressed by Archie's musical talent, according to Cosmopolitan. In a recent interview with The Last Magazine, the real-life musician admitted that he isn't a fan of his character's music. “I don’t know how to say it, but we’re not at the same level, you know what I mean? Somehow I have to say that not in a cocky way, but he’s a beginner,” he said.

Aside from the lack of experience, KJ said he and his character have different tastes in music. “Also, the songs that he writes, I don’t think I would listen to them…I listen to a bit of everything, but mostly classic rock and punk rock. I’m into harder stuff than Archie is.” What, "Kids in America" isn't hard enough for you, KJ?

Leave the singing to the pros (aka Josie and the Pussycats), Archiekins.

Thor: Ragnarok's Valkyrie Will Be the Marvel Cinematic Universe's First LGBTQ+ Character

0
0

On Nov. 2 Marvel fans will get to see the third Thor installment, Thor: Ragnarok. One character to keep an eye out for? Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson. In addition to being a total badass, Valkyrie is bisexual, making her the first LGBTQ+ character to be featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tessa confirmed her character's sexual orientation after an annoyed fan tweeted that Valkyrie is a "typical sexless Marvel tomboy." Another chimed in to say Valkyrie is a "big ole lesbian" in the comic books.

That's when Tessa cleared the air and shut down the haters. "She's bi, and yes, she cares very little about what men think of her. What a joy to play!" the actress tweeted.

Though Valkyrie represents the LGBTQ+ community and had feelings for another woman in the comics, we probably won't be seeing Valkyrie's bisexuality explicitly referred to in Thor: Ragnarok. "YES! Val is Bi in the comics & I was faithful to that in her depiction. But her sexuality isn't explicitly addressed in Thor: Ragnarok," Tessa explained.

That's a bit of a bummer, but at least we know Valkyrie is bisexual and Tessa incorporated that part of her identity into her portrayal of the character. It's hard to say what love stories we can expect in Thor: Ragnarok, but all our questions will soon be answered. Regardless, I think Tessa is going to be so amazing in this film, and I can't wait to see it.

Melania Trump's Anti-Bullying Campaign Starts As POTUS Puts Military Widow On Blast On Social

While POTUS was busy arguing with Myeshia Johnson, FLOTUS was just getting started on her anti-bullying campaign tour. Her first stop during national “Week of Inclusion” was at Detroit Middle School where she sat with the children and had lunch with them. She spoke to them about the importance of compassion.

When POTUS won the election, Melania surprisingly chose bullying as her signature issue she would focus on as first lady. Before going into the school, Trump took a moment to address reports saying, “ By our own example, we must teach children to be good stewards of the world they will inherit. It is our responsibility to take the lead in teaching children the values of empathy and communication that are at the core of kindness, mindfulness, integrity and leadership.”

In a speech FLOTUS gave at the UN General Assembly back in September, she stated “As adults we are not merely responsible, we are accountable. I hope you will join me in recommitting ourselves to teaching the next generation to lead and honor the golden rule, do unto others as you would have them to unto you.”

Social media was quick to criticize Melania, understandably, on the irony of her own statements when the choices (and choice words) of her husband demonstrate otherwise.

According to Mrs.Trump’s director of communications, Stephanie Grisham, Melania is an independent woman. She told CNN, “Mrs. Trump is independent and acts independently from her husband. She does what she feels is right and knows that she has a real opportunity through her role as first lady to have a positive impact on the lives of children.”

This Cornell Student's Moving Short Film About Her Lonely College Transition Is A Must Watch

0
0

There are many challenges that come with the transition from high school to college, especially if the transition involves moving to a new state by yourself. One student, Emery Bergmann, a Cornell University freshman, documented her struggle with loneliness at college in a short film for a class — and, with a little help from the TODAY Show, people around the world are connecting with her story and talking about that unique, isolating feeling.

In the film, Bergmann talks about how she wasn’t making a lot of friends or felt close to anyone when she was seeing her peers walk around in big groups, going out and having the fun that she expected she was going to have. In an interview with her school paper, The Cornell Sun, she said she felt “frustrated, lonely and isolated from the large amoebas of students.”

“I knew that there were other people in my position, but I felt like I wasn’t seeing it. There’s no way I’m the only person on this campus that’s not making friends, but from what I saw, it felt like it was only me.” She’s 100% right that she’s not the only one, there are countless articles on freshman feeling lonely and like they’re not making friends," Bergmann said. "This is so common, that the parenting section of the TODAY Show website picked up the video to share with their audience."

A really important point that Emery makes in the video is that social media intensified her feelings of loneliness. In the film, she said  “I know social media is fake and stuff and people are picking and choosing the coolest parts of their life to show you but I don’t know, it gets to you.”

This is unsurprisingly a huge issue for a lot of students. Social media can be really damaging if you start to compare your life to your friends lives because after all, it is “fake.”

Later into the semester, Emery’s mother sent her a letter describing how she had a hard time adjusting in college too. After receiving the letter, Emery said “I realized how unfair I was being to myself and other, expecting everything to work out perfectly in the first two months.” She adds, “People are afraid to confront the fact that it’s not as easy to make friends. It’s not going to come as quickly as everyone thinks it will.

This Student Got Pulled Over While Wearing Full-Face Shrek Makeup & It Was Embarrassing AF

Nobody wants to be pulled over, but if it has to happen, we hope it goes down exactly like how it did for Hayley Mazmanian––wearing a full face of Shrek makeup. The 18-year-old senior from Corona, California left her high school makeup class after donning a swampy tribute to everyone’s favorite green ogre, only to be pulled over while driving her friends to Chik-fil-A. Needless to say, this will probably go down as the most embarrassing/legendary moment of her life.

Mazmanian told BuzzFeed News that the officer was “startled” by her appearance (same), but a spokesperson for the Corona Police Department clarified that “Officer Hartman, contrary to what some may say, was certainly not engaging in Ogre-Profiling that night.” Still, the teen did walk away with a ticket.

When Mazmanian and her friends made it to the restaurant, she immediately shared her unfortunate situation on Twitter.

The reactions were as beautiful and punny as you’d expect.

According to Time, Mazmanian will be recreating the Shrek look again for her final class showcase. Let’s just hope the next time she gets pulled over in an ogre costume that Donkey and Fiona will be there too.

Haunted Campus Stories: Fordham University & The Ghost of Priests Past

When I was a freshman, I found out my school was haunted. One day, I was speaking with some juniors and seniors, and they shared stories about things that had happened to them throughout their time on campus, and I'm about to share one of those memorable ghostly experiences with you. A note to keep in mind––I go to a Jesuit school, so it's normal to see priests walking around everywhere.

There was a man was on the orientation committee, and his job was to prepare the dorms for move-in before the new class of students arrived on campus. It was a weekday at 3 a.m., so he assumed he was alone in the dorms. The central part of his job was to flip mattresses upwards. In one room that he had prepared, he noticed the mattress had fallen. He prepared the room for the second time, and he locked the door on his way out.

He continued his rounds and later rechecked the room. He saw that the door was unlocked and the mattress was down once again. Annoyed, he re-flipped the mattress and checked the halls to see if anyone else was around. If anyone had been around, they would have had to break into the dorm, as he had the only master key for the building. After continuing his work for a while, he returned to the room, and the mattress was down yet again. So, he decided to take out his phone and email a complaint to the main office office. He received a reply in minutes. This quick response was shocking––he thought no one would be in the office at that unholy hour! He opened the email. Someone would be over right away to check out the situation and help find a solution to the problem.

Within the hour, a priest appeared. He walked into the room, looked around, and let out a weary sigh. Turning to the man, he explained that a spirit haunted the dorm room. He would need to perform an exorcism immediately. With a wave of his hand, the priest asked the man to leave, saying that he could take it from there. The man did not question him.

The next morning, the man went to the office to thank the priest that had helped him. He told the receptionist all about the email, thanked them for sending a priest, and told them how he never expected them to answer so late at night. As he continued to praise their service, she told him that no worker in the office had done such a thing. They had all gone home by then. Perturbed, the man went to find the email that had been sent to him, but it had vanished from his inbox. He was stunned. He restated last night’s events and this time mentioned how the priest looked. Her face expressed fear. She told him to wait just one moment, and returned a few minutes later with a yearbook from the '80s. She flipped open to the staff page and pointed, “Is that the man?”

The man said, “Yeah you guys sent him!”

She then explained to him that that priest has been dead for over a decade.
