Justin Bieber Threw His Yeezys Into a Concert Crowd & Now They're Internet Famous

0
0

What would Justin Bieber's Yeezys do if they were thrown into a concert crowd? Well, two lucky fans caught the expensive shoes and they know exactly what they're up to—and it's actually really hilarious. Bieber decided to throw each shoe into the crowd at the Wireless Festival in Frankfurt, Germany, and now, these babies are on their own adventures and achieving more internet fame than anything I've ever posted.

The right Yeezy shoe is for sale on eBay, and it's currently going for a minimum of 5,000 euros (that's about $5,700 here in the states). I can only imagine the bids will climb—there are a lot of Beliebers out there who would kill for a beautiful white shoe to cherish forever. But fans better hurry—the bidding ends on July 4. TMZ reports that at least a portion of the money from the eBay sale will be donated to charity, so at least there's some good to come out of Bieber's footwear.

Now to the left Yeezy, who is living a whole different life: one of Instagram fame, that is. Its page, @theleftyeezy, has 6,600 followers already and provides full insight into the exciting life of Bieber's left shoe, from nights out with fellow fans to Boomerangs of the shoe's encounters with gravity. The page also shared the Biebs' shoe size (it's an 8.5 if you were curious). The adventures will only continue for the left shoe, and I hope JB sees the page and knows that his designer footwear is in good hands.

The real question is, will left shoe become more famous than left shark?

5 Rosé Cocktails for a Sweet Summer

0
0

It’s summertime, and after a long year of drinking cheap beer and subpar mixed drinks, it’s time to indulge in some yummy and totally cute summer cocktails. How can a cocktail be cute? If it’s pink of course, which is why we’ve made a list of some elegant AF rosé cocktails for you and your girls to sip on this summer.

1. Rosé lemonade

Recipe from The Kitchn

If you’re not at all a bartender, this drink is perfect for you. It only has three ingredients and is perfect to share with friends poolside.

Ingredients (serves 8):

  • 1 can club soda
  • 3 cups lemonade
  • 1 bottle rosé, dry
  • 1 lemon (optional)

Directions:

Mix together the three liquids in a pitcher over ice. If you’re feeling particularly boujee, cut up some lemon slices and throw them on in, too.

2. Rosy rosé-ito

Recipe from The Kitchy Kitchen

Fan of a classic mojito? You’ll love this pink twist. Refreshing mint is perfect for the summer heat and rosé adds a daintier touch.

Ingredients (serves 1):

  • 4 oz rosé
  • 3 sprigs mint
  • 1 tablespoon rose syrup
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

Directions:

Muddle (as in mash up) the mint and rose syrup at the bottom of the glass. If you don’t want the rose taste (or just don’t want to go out and find rose syrup), simple syrup works. Add ice and mix in the rosé and lime juice. Make it pretty with some sprigs of mint on top.

3. Rosé spritzer

Recipe from Design Love Fest

A fizzy, flirty drink is just what summer calls for and we have you covered with this simple and refreshing concoction.

Ingredients (serves 6):

  • 1 bottle rosé, chilled
  • 2-3 cans La Croix sparkling grapefruit water
  • 2 grapefruits
  • Fresh fruit for garnish

Directions:

For each glass, add ice to about 4 ounces of rosé, about 3 ounces of the La Croix, 2 tablespoons fresh grapefruit juice and mix. Then, throw in some fruit, like raspberries or strawberries, for garnish. Voilà! A pretty pink cocktail.

4. Strawberry rosé sangria

Recipe from Jennifer Meyering

For fruity, flirty perfection, look no further than a spin on a basic girl’s favorite drink: sangria. With a whole pitcher of this Instagram-worthy drink, there’s enough for everyone.

Ingredients (serves about 8):

  • 1 bottle rosé
  • 1 cup strawberry vodka
  • 2 1/2 cups lemon-lime soda
  • 1/4 cup sugar (or sugar substitute)
  • 10+ fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

Directions:

In large pitcher, combine wine, vodka and half of the strawberries. If you like drinks on the sweeter side add the sugar here too. Refrigerate for 2-6 hours. When you’re ready to serve, add the lemon-lime soda and remaining strawberries and pour into glasses over ice.

5. Watermelon frosé

Recipe from How Sweet It Is

I think we can all appreciate the clever name of this drink as much as we can appreciate an ice cold, frozen drink in the summer. This one’s a bit more complicated, but definitely worth it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of rosé
  • 1 cup watermelon juice (comes from about 4 cups of cut-up watermelon)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • Juice from 1/2 lime

Directions:

Freeze the rosé in ice cube trays overnight. Make a watermelon syrup by mixing 1/2 a cup of watermelon juice with the sugar. Blend the frozen rosé cubes, watermelon syrup, remaining 1/2 cup watermelon juice and lime juice in a blender until it’s a like a slushy. Add additional ice or watermelon juice if necessary to get the right consistency. Scoop it into glasses and garnish with watermelon slices.

Make any of these pretty in pink drinks to up your cocktail and Instagram game this summer. Enjoy responsibly, ladies!

9 Glitter Boob Looks That Are Actually So Cute

The “free the nipple” trend is definitely not for everyone, but the latest craze in topless festival fashion just might have you seeing stars.

A number of festival-goers have been sporting the “glitter boob” look (also called “disco tits,” if you wanted another option), which involves covering *the girls* with tons of psychedelic glitter. Though wearing a crochet tank top seems easier (and prone to less wardrobe malfunctions), the glitter boob trend has gained traction and has turned into a sort of art form featuring unlimited sparkle and shine. Here are nine looks that we can't help but admire.

1. Who doesn't love this bronze-y bandeau?

2. The more shimmer, the better.

3. Disco pineapples? Yes, please.

Though the #GlitterBoob trend is not everyone's style, we can't help but appreciate the crazy crystal designs and the brave ladies who sport these daring looks.

Someone Tracked How Much Coffee the 'Friends' Characters Drank Throughout the Series & It's Crazy

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t dream of living in an alternate New York where waitresses can afford spacious, beautiful apartments and said apartment is conveniently right above an aesthetic-pleasing coffee shop. Yes, like so many others, I wish I could live in the world of Friends, coffee intake included, of course. I'm not the only one jealous of the Friends gang’s access to caffeine—Refinery29 reports that one fan took the time to record how much coffee each of the show’s six main characters drank throughout the decade-long series.

Author Kit Lovelace apparently did this research a while ago, sharing an old chart on Twitter that displayed the ranking of coffee consumption.

In a Twitter interview with HuffPost, Lovelace explained his method for tracking the characters' coffee drinking. "“If they were somewhere where there was no coffee...I would fast forward through the scene keeping an eye out for any potential mugs or cups. Any Central Perk scene or apartment scene where they were eating and drinking I watched.”

The weirdest part of this is that Lovelace says he's not even a diehard Friends fan—he genuinely just wanted to know who drank the most coffee. According to this research, Phoebe comes away as the most caffeinated at 227 cups, which makes sense. Remember how often she was chilling on the couch when someone else came to Central Perk with big news to share?

Although I think he has a little too much time on his hands, I'm impressed with Lovelace's data. What's next—tracking the drinking habits on How I Met Your Mother?

How I Deal With Dating As An Introvert

People tend to put labels on everything. From gender to sexuality to relationship statuses, there's basically a label for any and everything you could possibly think of. Even though there's been a strong push for the destruction of many of these (which is great for a lot of obvious reasons), there is still one label-filled distinction that always has me a bit wary. The terms "introvert" and "extrovert" act as ways to define a personality type, but are often used as unwarranted limitions or personal restrictions–basically an excuse used to avoid stepping out of your comfort zone. Before I read Amy Schumer's The Girl With The Lower Back TattooI had a hard time warming up to the idea of openly identifying as an introvert, especially when it came to dating or relationsips. It wasn't until I flipped through these pages that I learned accepting my identity as an introvert would change the way I dealt with the dating world.

In her book, Schumer explains that, as a female introvert herself, she often feels obligated to give her energy away to other people. More explicitly, she writes, “If you’re a true introvert, other people are basically energy vampires. You don’t hate them; you just have to be strategic about when you expose yourself to them—like the sun.” This alone can make dating extremely challenging, especially in the infamous honeymoon phase. New couples tend to spend as much time as they possibly can with one another, often unintentionally neglecting friends, hobbies and sometimes even daylight. Before they know it, the pair have basically morphed into one person. It can be easy to start losing sight of personal goals and interests in this stage of the relationship, making any sense of individuality almost disappear completely. This Instagram-worthy phase is, of course, both blissful and glamorous, but it can also be completely exhausting and overwhelming.

If this is you, it’s a smart idea to set boundaries for yourself and to care for your own needs before you collapse into a cranky shell of the person you used to be.

As an introvert, alone-time is something that is essential to our happiness. Personally, I can say that I love being alone. It can be difficult to explain or defend this desire to be alone without offending your SO, especially since there's a lot of confusion regarding the difference between being alone and being lonely. Sometimes it can be even more difficult to rationalize this need to yourself without feeling selfish about it. What's important here is to remember that you need this time to recharge, to refuel and to become you again. In fact, Schumer says, “What's wrong with being alone anyway? Being alone is sometimes a great place to be, but people are always trying to correct this ‘problem’ for you, even if you yourself don't have any kind of problem with it.” I certainly have no problem with it.

No one’s calling for complete Bear Grylls isolation here, just a few extra hours to yourself every so often so you can sit on the beach, journal, craft, go for a bike ride or lay on the kitchen floor in your towel–basically just do whatever you want! The truth is, once you accept your personality type and recognize what makes you happy, you'll be able to be happy with somone else–or you'll even just be self-aware enough to know whether or not you're in the right retlationsip at all. Remember, you are not shy, standoffish, antisocial or uninteresting. You are you. Life gets better once you accept that.

15 Ways You Know You Were Born to Be a Leader

0
0

Some people are just born with certain talents that really set them apart. Maybe they have a killer singing voice or an unbelievably creative eye or even the ability to be a great leader. Taking charge of a group is definitely not for the weak-hearted, considering it takes some real motivation and talent.

Whether you have those leadership skills buried under a pile of shyness or you've already uncovered your full potential of taking charge, you'll identify with these 15 ways of knowing you were born to be a leader.

1. Being called bossy doesn't even phase you anymore

Being called bossy is sometimes taken as an insult, but it's actually one of the best compliments. It means you know how to take charge of any situation and delegate tasks to others to efficiently get something done.

2. You immediately take charge of any situation

There's no need to discuss who will be the main point of contact during group projects; you already have your eyes on that role.

3. You have to remind yourself to sit back if you aren't actually the leader

Considering you like to be in charge, it can be hard to let someone else take over the leadership reigns.

4. You have a slight obsession with buying new planners

What better way to prepare for your long list of tasks than to have a small stockpile of your favorite ~trendy~ planners?

5. You have a natural ability to read people right when you meet them

Any good leader can assess their team's ability to accomplish their goals and figure out how to best delegate these tasks. You can basically sniff out these characteristics within seconds of meeting someone.

6. You're organized AF

You just can't help it; your organizational skills are off the charts.

7. Your parents tell their friends you could be president one day

What can I say, Madam President has a nice ring to it.

8. You've never been afraid to voice your opinions

No leader became successful by keeping their thoughts to themselves, and you certainly don't! Letting your opinions be heard is a great way to spark new conversation and help motivate your team to get things done.

9. Your friends always turn to you to be the voice for the group

It doesn't matter if it's something as simple as calling to make the dinner reservations. Your friends just know you're the best person to lead the group in any situation.

10. You've never had a problem taking the initiative on a new project

New challenges don't intimidate you. In fact, you actually kind of enjoy them. Getting started on something new is always a great way to get your leadership juices flowin'.

11. You love shopping for power outfits

Much like Hillary Clinton and her famous pantsuit collection, you have a whole section of your closet devoted to your power outfits—the pieces that make you feel badass AF when you have important meetings or presentations.

12. You're basically a multitasking wizard

Who knew you could juggle that many tasks at once?!

13. Your parents have held several leadership positions in their lives

It's basically programmed into your DNA.

14. You've always been confident in almost everything you do

Confidence is basically something every leader has. How else are you supposed to lead an entire group? You've been confident for as long as you can remember, and that's something that will never change!

15. You take feedback very seriously

Leaders are always trying to help other people grow, so you're just as receptive to any type of feedback or advice so you can improve your own skill set. If it was normal to send a performance survey after everything you do, you would totally be sending them.

It really does take a special kind of person to be a leader, and these traits undeniably prove you were born to be one. Watch out world—we have a few boss ladies ready to take over.

We'll See a Lot More of These Characters in Season 2 of 'This Is Us'

0
0

I’m counting down the weeks until Season 2 of the NBC tearjerker This Is Us premieres on Sept. 26. While we may have lost the wonderful William at the end of Season 1, there’s still hope of unexpected characters stepping up to fill this huge void in our hearts. Entertainment Weeklyhas confirmed that Jon Huertas and Alexandra Breckenridge, aka Miguel and Sophie, will be series regulars in the show’s second season.

Fans know Miguel as Jack’s best friend who eventually marries Rebecca, but how these two fell for each other after (or before?) Jack’s death is still unknown. Adult Randall and Kevin always seem less than enthused when Miguel is around, which hints at some longtime tension surrounding their mother’s second marriage.

Series creator Dan Fogelman tells EW that he “think[s] the best of Miguel and…like[s] to believe that Miguel’s infatuation on a different level with Rebecca began long after Jack was no longer in the picture.” Huertas’s promotion to a show regular could mean that his relationship with Rebecca is explored sooner rather than later.

Kevin’s childhood sweetheart and ex-wife Sophie is perhaps an even bigger mystery than Miguel. When did they get together? Did Sophie stop being friends with Kate? How long were they married? Given this guarantee that we’ll be seeing a lot more of Sophie, I hope that we get a greater sense of who Kevin and Sophie were as a couple before their current relationship progresses.

Since the This Is Us cast is notoriously tight-lipped about the show’s events, this may be the biggest news shared until its return. I’m still dying for more, but this casting news will certainly suffice.

A Girl Shot and Killed Her Boyfriend While Trying to Do a Stunt for YouTube

A 19-year-old YouTuber has been charged with second-degree manslaughter after fatally shooting her boyfriend while trying to film a stunt for a video, Teen Voguereports.

On June 26, Monalisa Perez tweeted that she and her 22-year-old boyfriend, Pedro Ruiz, would be filming “one of the most dangerous videos ever” and claimed that the video was Ruiz’s idea. She shot Ruiz later that day and turned herself in to authorities. ABC affiliate WDAY-TV reports that the stunt called for Ruiz to hold up a book and have Perez shoot at it with hopes of the book stopping the bullet. However, the bullet shot through the book and entered Ruiz’s chest. He died at the scene.

The Minnesota couple was creating content for their YouTube channel, which mostly consists of videos sharing their daily life with their three-year-old daughter. According to WDAY-TV, Ruiz allegedly told his aunt that the decision to film dangerous stunts was “because we want more viewers, we want to get famous.”

Perez, who is pregnant with a baby boy, is scheduled to appear in court on July 5 following her initial arraignment on Wednesday afternoon. According to BuzzFeed News, she faces the possibility of up to 10 years in jail, a fine of $20,000, or both.

How to Break it to Your Friends & Family About the Breakup

0
0

Breakups suck for the obvious reasons, but sometimes the more subtle reasons can still be bothersome. Imagine your friends and family loving your significant other more than you did. And now you’ve ended it. If it sounds pretty uncomfortable, it’s because it is. Not only are you probably a little shaken up, perhaps even upset, but now you have to relive the ending of your relationship as you tell all your friends how and why the special person in your life is gone. Not only are your dreams about the future of you two gone, but their projected dreams are gone too.

1. Come to terms with why you should break up

Depending on the intensity of their relationship with your ex, there could be a variety of reactions. For example, your mom that was expecting a proposal in the near future would probably be flabbergasted and perhaps a little disappointed. If you haven’t actually broken up with this person yet only because you’re afraid of the reaction from others, that’s a pretty good indicator that you should go ahead with the breakup. If the only thing holding you two lovebirds together is the opinion of your mom, dad, sister, best friend, whoever, then this relationship is not strong enough, to begin with. Truly dig deep on why you may or may not be happy, without the influx of everyone else’s thoughts on the subject. You’re dating this person, not them.

2. Ask your loved ones for support

After the actual breakup, it's a good idea to approach your friends and family and tell them about why you've been unhappy and unsatisfied in your relationship. This could be for a number of reasons and circumstances, but it's up to you to explain why you believe this decision was the best for you. Of course, you don't owe anyone an explanation, but because your loved ones may be invested in your relationship they might expect to hear your side of the story. This is your opportunity to open up.

3. If they're unhappy, state reasons why you're better off

Maybe your now ex was manipulative, or over possessive. Perhaps they did not support your career choice, or you simply couldn't see spending the rest of your life with someone you didn't truly love. Whatever the reasons, it might be a good idea to start detailing them to give more context to your choice of ending it. Chances are, their unhappiness about the break up will be redirected and they'll realize you are essentially happier without that SO.

4. Reassure them that this is for the best

You might want to say that you know there will be other loves in your life, or that you know you don't need anyone to take care of you. Remind them that you are currently better off alone than you are with that person, and if they truly cared about you, they would support you and your choice.

Theresa Sansone, a sophomore from The College of New Jersey, says, "Your friends and family may love your significant other, but at the end of the day you, and only you, are the person that's dating him or her. If you stay in a relationship just because you want to make everyone else happy, you will ultimately be the unhappy one and that's not fair to you or your significant other. I feel like if you are true and honest with yourself and your relationship, your friends and family will support your decision and will understand that it has nothing to do with them personally." Theresa hit the point right on the head.

Related: 5 Signs Your Love is Being Taken for Granted

In fact, if your loved ones truly cared about you and your wellbeing, they should be worried about your unhappiness. If they truly had your best interests in mind, they should want the best for you, even if that means letting go of someone they may have liked. Trust yourself and how you’re feeling before you begin getting advice from all sorts of people. Those people may have seen a glimpse of your SO, while you actually have spent a genuine good chunk of time with this person to decide if this is the person for you.

Honestly, at the end of the day, it was your relationship. Not theirs. They are allowed to feel remorse, as they may have been close to that person as well, but they ultimately should know their bounds because this is your life. And you’re allowed to date or break up with whomever, because once again, in case this didn’t click, it’s your life.

We all have days when we're ready to take on whatever life throws at us. We manage to wake up early and go to the gym all before a full day of work. But we can't be Olivia Pope every day, now can we? Unfortunately, many of us have long-term goals and an exceptional work ethic that is largely overshadowed by our chronic laziness. If this sounds like you, we feel your pain. Here are 14 things overacheiving but lazy girls struggle through everyday.

9. Any time is wine time.

10. You make this face at least 5 times a day.

11. You may go to the gym on a regular basis.

12 Ways to Triple Your Productivity Right Now

This article has been syndicated to Her Campus from Diary of a Debutante, an InfluenceHer Collective member. Read the full post here.

If you work from home, you understand the slew of potential distractions we encounter on a daily basis. In addition to the inevitable interruptions created by family, significant others, and sporadic, seemingly “urgent” chores that pop up out of nowhere, the internet can be a messy place for staying on task… if you don’t have the right quick productivity hacks in place. Here are twelve quick productivity hacks to instantly triple your work output.

1. Enable StayFocusd

My boyfriend Kyle turned me on to Stayfocusd. He’s also a writer who spends pretty much his entire day researching topics on the internet. So, similarly to bloggers and digital influencers, quick productivity hacks that force him to stay on task are the name of his game. StayFocusd is a Chrome browser extension that allows you to set a “time budget” for websites you’d like to avoid visiting multiple times throughout the day. For example, my settings only allow me to spend a combined total of thirty minutes on Twitter and Facebook per day. You can add whatever other time-sucking websites (the news, Pinterest, shopping sites) to your own personal block list.

As obnoxious as StayFocusd can be, it’s brutally effective when it comes to time management. Oh, and if you run out of time but want to stalk just one more Facebook page, you aren’t able to revise your time budget or block list same-day. Changes to existing browsing settings are only applied for the following day to avoid spur-of-the-moment lapses in judgement.

2. Install F.B. Purity

Let’s be honest– even if you have incredible self-discipline, you probably log on to Facebook at least once a day. F.B. Purity is another browser extension that cleans up and customizes your Facebook feed. It essentially lets you filter out the junk you don’t want to see. This includes removing annoying, irrelevant stories, including ads, sponsored content, and random game spam, from your newsfeed.

In order to use this extension, simply download the right version for your web browser and then open Facebook. F.B Purity will prompt you to select what content to block and what content to show. In essence, it’s a great compromise for anyone who’s not quite ready to give up social media altogether but is hoping to minimize their time and maximize their efficiency on it.

3. Disable Desktop Notifications

It’s difficult to avoid social media when you’re given a personalized desktop notification every time something remotely interesting happens. The same goes for your email. Even if answering emails is a critical part of your professional responsibilities, set designated times throughout the day to check and answer messages. This will allow you to stop being a slave to your inbox and start getting other important tasks done efficiently.

4. Sign Up for Last Pass

You can’t remember your password, so you send yourself an email to re-set your password. Then, you enter in your new password– but it can’t be that password because it’s already been your password. It’s the same song and dance every time. Do yourself a huge favor and download LastPass to save time figuring out what all 7338305 of your passwords are. It’s completely free, and it pre-fills online forms and remembers your usernames/passwords for you so that you can focus on the more important things, like actual work.

6 Summer Skin Woes & How to Fix Them

0
0

School's out, sun's out and you have three glorious months ahead of you before homework starts again. But along with the beach towels, popsicles and late night bonfires can come something way less fun: skin problems. It's summer vacation, and while your sleep schedule might suffer, your skin shouldn't. We hit the books and got some expert advice for how to avoid (and deal with) common summer skin issues so you can enjoy the next few months worry-free.

1. Dry and flaky skin

Chlorine strips your skin's natural oils, so make sure you shower as soon as you get out of the pool instead of lounging around on your towel. Set the shower at a warm, rather than hot, temperature. And while we're #blessed to have air conditioning on hot summer days, A/C actually removes moisture from the air, leading to—you guessed it—more dry skin. Make sure you moisturize, and choose mild, gentle skin products to keep your glow. Since higher temperatures mean more sweating, staying well-hydrated will help your skin from within. Even just drinking an extra 12 ounces a day can make a huge difference, so find a cute bottle and try some fruit-infused water recipes.

2. Clogged pores

"If you’re going to wear makeup, look for ingredients that won’t clog or block your pores. In general, mineral makeup is a safe bet - they even contain known skin healing ingredients, such as Zinc Oxide," advises Vance Soto, President and Owner of OleHenriksen Face/Body Spa. Sleeping with your makeup on won't help things either—as Soto says, "It’s a skin sin!" Exfoliating with a scrub or loofah in the shower will help get rid of sweat, sunscreen and other residue that can build up during the day and potentially clog pores. Tight clothes can also contribute to this skin issue, so opt for breezier styles this summer to stay cool and clogged pore-free.

3. Oiliness

Even if you don't have oily skin during the rest of the year, once the summer sun comes out it might still make your skin start overproducing oil. While we love a good dewy makeup look, there's a difference between dewy and, well, shiny af. Throw some oil-blotting sheets in your beach bag, and fight the urge to rush out and buy every toner or cleanser that promises you oil-free skin. These products are often alcohol-based, and so harsh that they can actually make your skin even oilier. It's counterintuitive, but fight oiliness with a good moisturizer or try out the new beauty trend of skin oils.

4. Sunburns

They've happened to all us—and it hurts like hell. But besides just the discomfort, sunburns can have serious long-term implications, from sun spots to premature wrinkles or even skin cancer. Make sure you apply SPF before heading outside, even if it's just for a few minutes. (And no, 15 SPF doesn't count.) Even sitting in traffic can give you a sunburn, so always be careful. "Your 30-year-old self will thank you later," says Soto. Wide-brimmed hats and flowy sleeves will also help keep you safe from the sun, so take advantage of summer's hottest styles while protecting your skin! If you do get burned, aloe vera gel will take away the sunburn's sting, and try freezing aloe ice cubes for cool relief.

5. Breakouts

It's a common skincare myth that sunlight fights acne, so turn to actual skincare products, not tanning, to deal with breakouts this summer. "If you get an angry pimple and need it to be GONE as soon as possible, I recommend again looking for that magic ingredient salicylic acid," says Dr. Pimple Popper, founder of DrPimplePopper.com and SLMD Skincare. "Putting a dollop of your favorite clay mask on the pimple will remind you to keep your hands away, too! Bacteria = breakouts, and dirty hands will only make the problem worse." Sweaty clothes can also lead to breakouts, so make sure you throw that sports bra right in the washer after a workout! Whether it smells or not, it still has acne-causing bacteria.

6. Razor burn

Unfortunately, with bikinis can also come with some redness or irritation down there, which is the last thing you want while hitting the beach in your favorite suit. Always use a clean, sharp razor & splurge on shaving cream instead of bar soap for an easy, painless shave. If you're struggling with ingrown hairs, gently exfoliate to get rid of dead skin cells. If the issue is more of a rash, try moisturizing before shaving so the razor will glide over the area more smoothly. And no matter what, don't scratch! The bacteria under your fingernails could lead to an infection.

5 Ways a Peer Mentor Will Benefit Your Career

Many of us picture college as the one place we can be completely independent and not let anyone influence our decisions. In reality, it’s pretty common to get lost along the way and need a helping hand. Turning to your school’s staff can seem intimidating, and sometimes your parents don’t have all the answers.

Who better to get help from than someone close to your age, who has experienced the exact same thing you’re going through? More and more students are choosing to have a peer mentor rather than experience the crazy rollercoaster of college alone. A peer mentor relationship is beneficial when you have an idea of what career you want to head into. That way, you can partner with a typically more senior student who is going into the same career and already has the experiences you hope to gain over the next few years. Here are five reasons you’ll want to get a peer mentor before graduation.

1. Helping you find the right fit

Even if you don’t have the slightest idea of what career path you’re pursuing, signing up for a peer mentoring program can speed up that process. Being a part of a peer mentoring program can expose you to a variety of different career possibilities.

Jasmine Gibbons, a sophomore at Carnegie Mellon University, participated in a career peer mentor program that helped her discover who she wants to be. “I participated in a lot of workshops, programming and [meetings] with my mentor that helped me rule out a lot of future careers and finally declare a major,” she says.

If, by the end of the process, you haven’t found the career that’s right for you, you’ll still walk away with essential skills and life lessons that you can take into the real world.

2. Building interview skills

Interviewing for your first real job after college can be a lot more intense than any interview you’ve experienced for an internship or part-time job. It’s hard to know what to expect, but partnering with a peer mentor can prepare you for the big interview. Some peer mentoring programs even offer mock interviews specifically tailored to the company you aspire to work for.

Tamara Peters, a career development specialist at Rutgers University, believes the mock interviews and critiques are a key component of peer mentoring programs. “First of all, when a program participant hears what’s required of him/her from a peer, it carries much more weight than hearing it from career services staff,” she says. “Many of the peer mentors have gone through, or are about to go through, the rigorous interview process that the mentees are preparing for.”

Mock interviewing provides you with an opportunity to make all the mistakes you need, free of judgment, before it actually counts.

3. Networking

Your relationship with your peer mentor could be the way to get your foot in the door of your future career. Not only may they introduce you to the people they’ve met in your shared career field, but they could also be the one to hire you a few years down the line.

Kenzie York, a junior at Kennesaw State University, scored her job as a resident assistant through her school’s peer mentorship program, which she participated in her freshman year.

“My peer mentor was an RA, and she inspired me to apply to be one as well,” she says. “I needed a recommendation, and she gave me such a good one. I think it was basically the icing on the cake to getting the job. Now I have the chance to be a mentor to other students.” Sometimes the best connection is waiting for you on campus.

4. Resume advice

Let’s be honest—we’ve all spent hours looking at online examples of how our resume should look. Your peer mentor can make the process easier by providing resume and cover letter critiques. They may have already landed the internship or job that you’re dreaming of, so they have the resume advice you need.

Not only can they help with how you look on paper, but they can also help you master your LinkedIn profile. Employers now recruit online through this website, so it’s important that your online presence is equally as strong.

Julia Verona, a senior at Claremont McKenna College, worked as a peer mentor to younger students. “Although there’s staff on campus that help construct student resumes, I think it’s more beneficial that peer mentors help their mentees create resumes,” she says. “Resume etiquette has changed over time, so I feel we are more knowledgeable about what works today and what doesn’t.”

Your resume can make or break you, so your peer mentor can help you make the best first impression.

5. Setting you up for future success

At the conclusion of a peer mentoring program, students are typically more prepared for what to expect when it comes to applying to their dream job. Having been coached along the way gives future applicants a leg up on the competition.

“A peer mentor relationship is most effective when the mentor is really invested in helping the mentee, and the mentee takes the mentor’s advice seriously with a willingness to apply what he/she learns,” Peters says. “In the instances I’m aware of, the successful result is that the mentee is more informed about the job search process, how to network, how to present him/herself, and is better prepared to interview.” Both parties will ultimately benefit from the relationship.

Overall, having a peer mentor can only help you. Not only will you likely find a friend in them, but you will also have a resource, guide and helping hand that will help you make all the best choices in college. Look into joining any of your school’s peer mentoring programs before you leave campus because you won’t regret it.

'Pretty Little Liars' Couldn't Have Had a Better Ending

Heading into the Pretty Little Liars series finale, I was nervous. I’d been nervous ever since Season 7B began. How do you take a show with such complicated mythology and a string of unapologetic plot holes and wrap it up with a nice little bow? It seemed impossible that the show’s ending would satisfy me, but it did.

I was still nervous watching, waiting for A.D. to be revealed. I’d believed in Twincer for a while now. When I initially read the fan theory, I thought it was just plain cool. An evil twin slipping in and out of the Liars’ lives undetected seemed like a genius solution to the problem of answering the series’ big A.D. question. And after thinking on it and searching for clues in every new episode, I was convinced only Twincer could be A.D.

So when the finale revealed Alex Drake to us, I wasn’t exactly shocked, but I was thrilled. As I listened to her unravel her complex backstory in that jarring English accent, I was impressed. Her motives made sense to me. The way she’d carried out the game all added up. Did I still have questions? Sure. But that’s a point in and of itself.

Pretty Little Liars will never answer all your questions. It’s not in the show’s DNA to make total and complete sense of everything that’s happened. And if you haven’t accepted that by now, nothing the show could’ve done in its series finale would’ve suited you.

PLL’s executive producer Marlene King has mentioned in interviews following the finale that she considered making Wren or Melissa A.D. For the fans who’ve spent years crafting intricate theories about how it could only be one (or both) of these characters, it’s probably a letdown to learn that the actors’ availability was what stood in the way of outfitting them in the final black hoodie.

I would argue, though, that having a character like Wren or Melissa be A.D. would make less sense than taking the identical twin route. Melissa and Wren are average suspects in a nowhere-close-to-average game. Why not have a show that’s been filled with insane twists and turns end with the most insane twist of all?

Apparently, there are still people who wanted one of the Liars or their beaus to be A.D. That would have been more surprising than the Alex Drake reveal, but it also would’ve shattered the very ground this show was built upon. As someone who watched How I Met Your Mother’s series finale upend the framework of the show and explain to viewers that we’d been watching an entirely different show than we assumed, I was not up for watching that happen on PLL.

Not only did we get a satisfying conclusion to the A.D. arc, but we also saw the Liars moving on with their lives. Ezra and Aria finally tied the knot (after the groom sustained double head injuries). Hanna and Caleb were expecting a baby. With the help of a one-year time jump, Emily and Alison earned their happy ending—twins, engagement and all. And Spencer was well on her way to reconnecting with Toby, and her Hastings family ties seemed stronger than ever. Individually and as friends, the Liars got what they deserved.

And perhaps best of all, Mona, who started the A game, came out on top, winning once and for all by locking Alex and Mary Drake in a living dollhouse of her own construction—much nicer than the one Charlotte built, I might add.

There were little things here and there I would’ve changed (like revealing Alex earlier in the season or having the Liars take even a sec to hash everything out after they found Spencer), but I don’t think there’s such a thing as a perfect ending in the world of television. When you’ve walked alongside characters through every step of their lives for seven years, you’re bound to want more. But for the crazy world Pretty Little Liars concocted, this series finale couldn’t have gotten closer to perfect.

Trump Tweeted a Gross, Personal Insult About a Female MSNBC Host

This morning, with his presumably ample free time, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to criticize yet another woman journalist.

The woman who Trump refers to as "low I.Q. Crazy Mika" and states was "bleeding badly from a facelift" is Mika Brzezinski, co-host of MSNBC's Morning Joe. Brzezinski is a Democrat who has in the past commented on the gendered wage disparity she has experienced in her journalism career.

Naturally, people were baffled across the Internet landscape. The following tweet is from an NBC News spokesman:

The MSNBC corporation swiftly responded, however, releasing a statement following Trump’s tweets. “It’s a sad day for America when the president spends his time bullying, lying and spewing petty personal attacks instead of doing his job,” it said, according to The New York Times.

In an interview with Fox News today, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Trump’s deputy press secretary, was unconcerned about the gendered implications of her boss’ comments. “This is a president who fights fire with fire and certainly will not be allowed to be bullied by liberal media, and the liberal elites within the media,” Sanders said.

Glad everyone here is acting like mature adults!

What You Need To Know About the Partial Travel Ban That Goes Into Effect Tonight

0
0

On Wednesday night, The New York Times reports, the State Department released the details of its new, amended travel ban based on the one initially proposed by President Donald Trump during his first week in office.

The new ban imposes more specific rules about who is and isn’t allowed entry to the United States (please reread that statement and think about how the people who “discovered” America gained access to it) while, in true bureaucratic fashion, also remaining incredibly vague. According to the new ban, those allowed into the U.S. include “students and workers without current visas [and] green card holders, dual nationals and diplomats,” according to The New York Times.

For tourists, business travelers, immigrants and refugees from most other countries, visas will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Individuals from the six countries that have been most in the news in relation to this ban—Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen—are still prohibited from coming to America “without bona fide relationships in the United States.”

What does that mean, you ask? Apparently, a bona fide relationship extends to “‘a parent (including parent-in-law), spouse, child, adult son or daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in law, sibling, whether whole or half [and] step relationships.”

As for “‘grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, fiancés and any other ‘extended’ family members,’” it’s a no go.

This seemingly arbitrary designation of who "deserves" or "has a right to" live and exist in the U.S. is sure to create more hardship for individuals attempting to live here, as well as for the governmental agencies themselves who are responsible for monitoring and facilitating those cases.

Ally Hilfiger—yes, that Hilfiger—recently walked down the aisle wearing a gorgeous hooded dress that is the definition of bride-spiration.

According to Refinery29, Ally collaborated with her dad, Tommy Hilfiger, to create her dream wedding gown—a cream-colored v-neck dress paired with an intricate lace hood. She wore the masterpiece this weekend when she married her partner of six years, Steve Hash, on the Caribbean island of Mustique.

This beautiful father-daughter moment captured by Ally's stepmother, Dee Ocleppo, also shows the bride's custom dress and one-of-a-kind headpiece.

We love that Ally's gown and hood combo was anything but cookie-cutter. For now, though, it looks like only aisle I'll be walking down while wearing anything hooded (read: a sweatshirt) is the grocery aisle.

21 Feels We Have About The iPhone On Its 10th Anniversary

It's hard to imagine a world without iPhones, bur that was the case just ten years ago. On June 29, 2007, Steve Jobs announced Apple would be launching a smartphone—and the rest is history. For better or worse, we can't live without our iPhones in our pockets, so here are 21 feels on its 10th anniversary.

1. Amazed by how much the iPhone has changed in the last 10 years.

How did we live before the fingerprint sensor?

2. Excited (but confused) whenever a new model is released.

Spoiler: we'll most likely buy it anyway.

3. #Blessed with the iPhone's great camera for selfies.

Being able to change exposure was a game-changer.

4. Furious when those 3 little gray dots appear and then disappear.

A violation of basic texting ettiquette, tbh.

5. Glad that Siri has always got our back.

What would we do without her?

6. Sad when you have to put it away during class.

Aziz has a point.

7. Overwhelmed when the group iMessage is blowing up.

You can't scroll fast enough.

8. Thankful that emojis make communication so efficient.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

9. So done with "low battery" notifications.

It was fully charged, like, 30 minutes ago!

10. Glad that it made gifs like this possible.

What would we do without quality dog memes?

11. Terrified when we drop it.

Praying the screen didn't shatter.

12. Badass whenever we figure out a new iOS trick.

It's like a neverending scavenger hunt.

13. Impatient when you get hit with the loading screen.

This is 2017!

14. Thrilled when rose gold became a color option.

Everything else if our life is rose gold, so why shouldn't our phone be?

15. Savage when we turn on read receipts.

Facebook isn't the only place to get left on "seen."

16. Annoyed whenever a new iOS version comes out.

Ain't nobody got time for that.

17. Lost when too many apps are open.

That's probably why we keep getting all those "low battery" notifications

18. So extra sending iMessages with effects

But who doesn't love some fireworks with their texts?

19. Organized af when we add an iCal event

We might still be late, though.

20. In love with our iPhone

Same, Pusheen. same.

21. Grateful that Steve Jobs invented it back in 2007.

Lifechanging.

Adele Wrote Her Fans a Note to Explain Why She May Never Tour Again

You may love Adele's tearjerker "Hello," but it seems like this time she might be saying goodbye. Fans at her London concert Wednesday night found a handwritten note in their programs in which Adele explained that her days of live performances might be numbered. Devastating, I know.

A post shared by Adelettes©® (@adelettes) on

In her note, Adele wrote, "[Touring] doesn't suit me particularly well. I'm a real homebody and I get so much joy in the small things. Plus I'm dramatic and have a terrible history of touring. Until now that is! I've done 119 shows and these last 4 will take me up to 123. It has been hard but an absolute thrill and pleasure to have done. I only ever did this tour for you and to hopefully have an impact on you the way that some of my favorite artists have had on me live. And I wanted my final shows to be in London because I don't know if I'll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home. Thank you for coming, for all of your ridiculous love and kindness. I will remember all of this for the rest of my life. Love you. Goodnight for now."

After a record-settingworld tour, Adele came back to her hometown of London for a finale leg of four concerts at UK Wembley Stadium. Her concert Wednesday night, which shattered attendance records, seemed to be a goodbye itself, featuring a set list with songs from all her albums, not just her latest record 25.

Fans worldwide have been taking to Twitter to mourn the announcement and express their gratitude for her music.

Adele's reluctance to tour again isn't completely unexpected since she's spoken before about the stress and anxiety she gets while performing. Earlier this year, she told audiences in Auckland, "The only reason I've toured is you." Hopefully this will still apply once she's recovered from this tour.

Despite this announcement, there's still a glimmer of hope for another tour, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that after some well-deserved R&R, Adele will decide to hit the road again. In the meantime, I'll be listening to all her live performances on YouTube—just in case.

Bungee Jump Company May Face Criminal Charges After After a 17-Year-Old Jumped to Her Death

A bungee jumping company in Spain may face charges after a teenage girl jumped to her death two years ago. In August of 2015, 13 teenagers headed to a bridge of Cabezon de la Sal with the intentions of having a fun, adrenaline-filled bungee jumping experience. However, the last of the group to jump, 17-year-old Vera Mol, plunged to her death instead.

The Sun reports that a mere moment of miscommunication caused this deadly jump. According to the Sunthe instructor from Aqua21 Aventura, a Spanish adventure sports company, told Mol, “No jump, it’s important, no jump.” He meant that she should not jump, as he had not yet secured the rope that would allow her to jump safely. However, because of his accent, she heard, “Now jump,” and leapt from the bridge.

The company claims that her death was an accident because the teenager jumped irresponsibly on her own, but an appeals court ruled this month that the instructor may be charged with accidental homicide if prosecutors decide to pursue the case, The New York Times reports. The court stated that the instructor's English was not "sufficient to instruct foreigners in something as precarious as jumping into the void from an elevated point" and ruled that “the misunderstanding was the result of the incorrect use and pronunciation of English."

The court isn't just blaming the instructor, but the whole company of Aqua21 Aventura as well. Apparently, the company didn't make sure that Mol was over the age of 18 before allowing her to jump—in fact, she was underage and by law should've been required to get parental consent before performing such a dangerous activity. Even worse, bungee jumping in that region of Spain is banned by federal law, and locals described the bridge as "very risky," according to the Times.

Mol's tragic death should have never occurred and we hope this legal ruling will help bring justice to her family.
