At Its Core, 'Pretty Little Liars' Is About Female Friendship

$

When Pretty Little Liars began seven years ago, it centered on the murder of a young girl and the friends she left behind. Initially they went their separate ways, but a cyber torturer, not-so-fondly known as A, brought them back together.

Even as the girls reconnected, their friendship grounded a show filled with danger, death and never-ending texts from a psychopathic stalker who knew their every secret. Often on teen dramas such as this, at some point, usually on more than one occasion, we see young women pitted against each other, even if they’re portrayed as best friends the episode before. Think Peyton and Brooke on One Tree Hill, Serena and Blair on Gossip Girl. Whether they’re fighting over the same boy or—wait, yep, they’re usually just fighting over the same boy.

In nearly 160 episodes, we haven’t seen this type of behavior displayed within the core five of PLL. Sure, Spencer, Aria, Hanna, Emily and Alison have had fights. They’ve had days when they didn’t agree on who’s taunting them from underneath a black hoodie. But they’ve never been set up to play into stereotypical teen girl tropes when it comes to friendship.

Pretty Little Liars provides us with one of the only consistently positive representations of female friendship on television. When Spencer and Caleb started falling for each other, it definitely caused tension between Spencer and Hanna. But it didn’t break their friendship. When the Liars learned Alison had let them believe she was dead for years, they rallied around her and made sure she had everything she needed to return home. Never did they pull each other’s hair or egg each other’s houses. (Editor’s note: These two examples are pulled from the previously mentioned shows.)

Has the intensity of being harassed by A for years bonded these girls? Of course. How could it not? And that’s a huge proponent of their dynamic, obviously. But it goes beyond that.

Not only have the PLL writers given us five friends who sidestep the very stereotype that dominates their genre (that, no matter what, women just can’t get along), but they’ve also shown us how versatile an on-screen friend group can be. One of my all-time favorite TV friend groups is the one on Friends. I find this sixsome to be everything you want in real-life and TV friends, but Pretty Little Liars still outdoes them in one major way. There is no limit to the combination of friendships presented.

On Friends tried-and-true combos like Monica and Rachel, Joey and Chandler, and just the girls or just the guys are the norm. You’ll never see Rachel and Chandler hanging out by themselves (unless it’s that one time they ate stolen cheesecake together). PLL, on the other hand, excels in mixing and matching the players it’s working with.

Hanna and Emily are no better friends than Aria and Spencer. Alison is just as likely to answer Spencer’s SOS as she is any of the other girls’. And when they need to split up—a few staking out a much-too-dangerous yet completely vague location while the others break into a dead guy’s apartment—there’s no hesitation over who’s teaming up with whom. All five of these girls are truly best friends, no one pairing more than another.

Till my dying day I’ll be captivated by any A mystery placed before me. The same A storyline can be recycled over and over again—I’ll still want to know who A is. But I’m grateful that Pretty Little Liars has been more than a whodunit. It’s represented female friendship in a way that doesn’t fall prey to what every teen drama before it (and most likely after it) has done. It circumvents the standard that says women can only be friends for so long before they’re ready to kill each other.

This show may be about murder, mystery, bullying and torture, but Aria, Spencer, Hanna, Emily and Alison’s friendship will be what continues to make an impact on viewers, even after all our questions have been answered.

Johnny Depp Went Too Far by Joking About Assassinating President Trump

Our fave Pirates of the Caribbean actor, Johnny Depp, has crossed a line by joking about assassinating President Trump.

According to Good Morning America, at the Glastonbury Festival in England on Thursday, Depp asked the crowd, "Can we bring Trump in?" which was met with boos from the audience. "No, no, no. You misunderstand completely. I think he needs help…When was the last time an actor assassinated a president? I want to clarify: I'm not an actor. I lie for a living however it's been a while. Maybe it's about time." Depp was likely referring to John Wilkes Booth, the actor who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln in 1865.

Depp knew this was going to be major news, but he tried to defend his words by framing it all as a joke. “By the way, this is going to be in the press and it’ll be horrible,” he said. “It’s just a question; I’m not insinuating anything.” ABC News reports that the Secret Service is aware of Depp's comments.

The actor has been a longtime opponent of Trump. In May 2016, he said, "If Donald Trump is elected president of the United States, in a kind of historical way it’s exciting because we will see the actual last president of the United States. It just won’t work after that.” Let's be clear: It's one thing to be against a politician, but it's another to talk about killing him.

Several other celebrities have come under fire for making inappropriate jokes or serious threats against President Trump. Kathy Griffin was fired from CNN after she did a photo shoot with a fake severed head meant to look like Trump. And at the Women's March in January, Madonna said she “thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House.” Not tasteful, guys.

Whether or not we support Trump and his policies, it's important to remain peaceful. Even if these celebrities were joking, these are pretty extreme statements.

Trump Thinks It's a Problem that Comey Is Friends With the Special Counsel in the Russia Investigation

If you haven't already heard, former FBI Director James Comey was leading the investigation into Russia's involvement in the 2016 presidential election, until President Donald Trump fired him May 9. Now, special counsel Robert Mueller has taken over the role of investigating possible ties between Trump's presidential campaign and Russia.

Trump, however, is not pleased with Mueller's key position in the investigation. In a recent Fox and Friends interview, Trump expressed his concern for the friendship between the two men in charge of investigating his involvement with Russia during his election. "Well he's very, very good friends with Comey which is very bothersome," Trump says in the interview.

The POTUS has also found fault in the team of attorneys Mueller has been building to assist him, mostly because of their political ties. “I can say that the people that have been hired are all Hillary Clinton supporters, some of them worked for Hillary Clinton,” Trump said. “I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous if you want to know the truth.”

Reuters reported Friday that Trump is speaking out about the potential investigation against his involvement with Russia. "Look there has been no obstruction, there has been no collusion and virtually everybody agrees to that," he says in this FOX and Friends interview.

He then went on to say again that he has no tapes of his conversations with Comey, even though he suggested he did just last month in a series of tweets. He first admitted to not having tapes Thursday on Twitter.

While the interviewer here says Trump's allusion to tapes "was a smart way to make sure [Comey] stayed honest," the problem with Trump's mention of tapes still lingers. House Intelligence Committee member Adam Schiff told Reuters, "If the president had no tapes, why did he suggest otherwise? Was he trying to intimidate or silence James Comey? And if so, did he take other steps to discourage potential witnesses from speaking out?"

The entire investigation into Russia's involvement seems incredibly confusing, especially as Trump continues to find fault in each person leading the investigation. We'll have to wait and see what bombshell he drops next.

Diddy Apparently Can't Tell Kendall & Kylie Jenner Apart, Which Resulted in This Hilarious Faux Pas

Keeping up with the shade Diddy throws at the Jenner sisters on his social media is incredibly entertaining. The most recent subtle shade happened when he posted a picture of him and Kendall Jenner at a private screening of Can't Stop, Won't Stop: The Bad Boy Story at his house on Wednesday. Diddy's post seemed entirely normal—until people realized that in the original caption, he tagged the wrong Jenner sister

Diddy's caption has since been edited to tag Kendall, not Kylie, in the photograph, but some social media users just can't let it go. Was this intentional? Or was it just a mistake as Diddy claims? He wrote in the comment section, "I'm human people. I make mistakes. Sorry," shortly after the changing the caption. Believable? I'm not so sure.

In case you forgot about the last time Diddy threw shade at the ladies, he once completely cropped the duo out of a group picture at an event. Awkward.

This Puppy's Spots Make It Look Like She Has a Selfie On Her Ear

Meet Lucy, an eight-month old rescue dog with some special markings on her. Her owners noticed that her ear basically looks like her own selfie because of the black and white spots. You can see two black ears, two eyes, a nose and mouth—it's crazy.

Whenever Lucy's owners (two New York students) take her on walks, people stop and ask about the ear. The first time I saw this photo, I legit thought a baby puppy was resting on her back. But no, it's just some weird eye trick that makes our eyes detect a face on Lucy's ear.

Kang Lee from the University of Toronto told the BBC that seeing faces in everyday objects is common, since humans are "primed" to be on the lookout for faces. He said the sensation reflects "the powerful influence of our imagination over our perception...It turns out it’s pretty easy to induce this phenomenon." Apparently, what we see is very subjective—our brains need to make sense of the images coming from our retinas, and that involves making predictions and assumptions based on past experiences. That's why we see faces more often than you'd think!

The BBC reports that you really do see what you want to see. Makes sense, because I definitely want to see puppy faces all day. So strange!

4 Reasons Why You Aren’t Seeing Fitness Results Yet

$

Summer’s here, which means it’s time to get serious about your fitness routine. Whether you’ve signed up for a 5K race, decided to try out yoga or you’re just looking to get back on track with your health, it’s easy to fall into destructive habits that can take away from your hard work and keep you from getting the results you want. Luckily, we’ve talked to fitness and nutrition experts alike and pinpointed these common fitness pitfalls as well as what you can do to prevent them.

1. You have a bad diet

You may have heard the saying “abs are made in the kitchen” before. While the work that you’re putting in at the gym is important, it can all go to waste quickly if you’re not giving your body the fuel it needs to recover. Protein-rich foods and drinks such as yogurt, chocolate milk and bananas make great recovery snacks post-workout. However, as a collegiette it can be hard to bring these healthy foods into your diet when you’re on the go.

“Late-night pizza, dining hall food, drinking alcohol and not exercising are all factors that can contribute to weight gain in college,” says nutritionist and health expert Justine SanFilippo, who stresses the importance of eating healthy and exercising throughout your college years. “Try to only eat treats in moderation, and keep an overall healthy diet. Not only will this maintain your figure and improve your fitness, but it’ll help you do well in classes and prevent health issues in the future.”

However, eating healthier does not mean eating less. “A bad habit I always see amongst young women is skipping breakfast,” says Melanie Ludwig, a personal trainer and health expert. “Breakfast is so important because it kick starts your metabolism and gives you energy for the day, as well as any exercise you may be doing.”

While it may be tempting to reward yourself with a cookie or two after a hard workout, skip the empty calories and opt for a granola or protein bar instead. “I suggest healthy snacks before and after a workout such as a banana or energy bar,” says Ludwig. Your body will thank you!

2. You’re not getting enough sleep

Between going to class, working, attempting to maintain a social life and everything that comes in between, it’s nearly impossible to get the recommended eight hours of sleep each night as a collegiette. However, hitting the gym and then skipping out on sleep can take a major toll on your body over time.

“Most people require seven to eight hours of sleep a night which can be challenging in college,” says Ludwig. “If your body and mind are not rested, it is hard to have the energy to focus on a good workout. Not to mention, fatigue is also a risk factor for injury as you can lose your balance or trip and get hurt.”

Whether it means sneaking in a power nap after a run or setting a strict bedtime for yourself, do whatever it takes to make sure you’re getting the necessary ZZZs. If you don’t give your body the time to recover, you can’t expect results in return.

3. You’re doing the same workout every time

While it’s easy to fall in love with your favorite running trail or group yoga class, it’s important that you make time for a variety of workouts in your schedule. By doing the same workout every day, your body learns to adapt to the physical stress and over time will benefit less and less—to the point where doing the workout isn’t doing anything for you anymore.

“Doing the same workout every day is a recipe for staleness,” says Ludwig. “I tell my busiest clients to try and move their bodies most days of the week. Strength training is crucial so I recommend focusing on big muscle groups such as your upper body, core, and lower body two to three times a week. Exercises such as push-ups, pull-ups, lunges and squats combine many of these muscle groups so you can do more work in less time.”

To avoid getting stuck in a routine, try working out with your friends or family members. Everyone’s preferences are different, and they may be able to introduce you to a new sport or gym routine that will surprise you. Or, sign up for classes you’ve never tried before; the new exercise will push your limits, and you’ll be able to do so in a guided environment. Being willing to step outside of your comfort zone is the key to getting results!

4. You’re only working one part of your body

You may have heard of spot reduction before, or the idea that you can focus on one part of your body where you want to lose weight or strengthen muscles. While the concept sounds ideal in theory, putting so much extra stress on one part of your body can lead to injury in the future. Plus, most spot reduction workouts are just myths.

“Don’t believe everything you see and read when it comes to exercise,” says Ludwig. Exercise is a science that is always evolving. You were born with certain genetics, and you can shape your body to the best of your genes. However, spot reducing or other “magic pill” exercises just aren’t realistic.

“Along with spot reduction, many young women are also under the impression that lifting weights will make you bulk up, but this isn’t true,” says SanFillippo. “Lifting weights can give you that toned look that many women want. It’s best to lift weights first, and then follow it with a cardio routine, because this helps your body burn more fat.”

Instead of buying into “fad” workouts like spot reduction, Ludwig recommends setting realistic goals with the SMART goal setting system. “SMART goals are specific, measureable, attainable, realistic, and timely,” she says. “If you miss a workout, cut yourself some slack. Always pick yourself up and keep your eye on your goals. Make your body a well-tuned machine, and your mind will also benefit.”

Regardless of your workout, make sure you’re paying attention to each part of your body. Lifting weights and using weight machines at the gym is a great way to make sure you’re targeting your lower half, abs, and upper half equally.

Don’t let your precious hours at the gym go to waste! If you’ve been working out regularly for several weeks or months and have yet to see results, take time to evaluate your own fitness routine and look for these common pitfalls that you may be falling into. Knowing your body, paying attention to nutrition as well as exercise and being willing to step outside of your comfort zone are all keys to success when it comes to achieving your goals and getting those results. Best of luck, collegiettes!

'Making a Murderer's' Brendan Dassey Might Have His Life Sentence Overturned For Real

You may recognize Brendan Dassey from his part in the popular 2015 Netflix documentary Making a Murderer, where we saw him confess to helping his uncle rape and murder photographer Teresa Halbach on their family's Manitowoc County salvage yard in 2005. That confession eventually led to a sentence of life in prison for Dassey. But now, two courts have agreed that Dassey's confession may have been coerced from investigators on the case.

Dassey was only 16 at the time of the murder, and suffered from cognitive problems that affected how he responded to interrogation tactics, according to the Associated Press. Basically, Dassey has an intellectual disability that means he may have not fully understood what was at stake during the interrogation—he may have eventually told the police what he thought they wanted to hear. Since the case against him was based primarily on his confession, there has been a push to seek justice for the young man who has spent over 4,130 days in prison already over what might be a bogus confession.

Originally, a federal magistrate judge ruled that investigators did indeed coerce Dassey's life-changing confession, and overturned his conviction in August. But then the Wisconsin Justice Department appealed that decision to the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, hoping to reinstate his previous sentence. While his case was reviewed by a three-judge panel, two of the judges ruled to overturn Dassey's conviction, while the other judge did not. The Los Angeles Timesreports that Wisconsin can now appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, ask for a review by the full 7th Circuit, or retry Dassey within 90 days—otherwise, Dassey will be released from prison.

In their decision, the court stated that several factors, including "the leading, the fact-feeding, the false promises" and "the manipulation of Dassey's desire to please" contributed to Dassey's involuntary confession. The dissenting judge, however, thought that calling the police's interrogation of Dassey "coercive" was too much of a stretch. If Dassey's life sentence is officially overturned and he's released, there will be much debate over how minors should be interrogated in similar cases moving forward.

The state is anticipating seeking a review by the entire 7th Circuit or the Supreme Court, according to The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Dassey will remain in custody until the entire appeal process is over.

At Least 9 GOP Senators Already Have Issues With The New Health Care Bill

$

Senate Republicans finally unveiled their secretive revisions to the House health care bill on Thursday. The updated legislation, called the Better Care Reconciliation Act, looks eerily similar to the one passed by the House—despite Republican promises to completely rewrite the old bill in Senate.

As it now stands, the BRCA would not pass according to a Washington Post whip count. It’s extremely unlikely that any Democrats will support it. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) therefore needs to get at least 50 of 52 Republican senators on board in order to pass the bill—and four of them have already declared they would not vote for the bill in its current form.

Shortly after the legislation was revealed, Republicans Senators Ted Cruz (Texas), Ron Johnson (Wis.), Mike Lee (Utah) and Rand Paul (Ky.) released a joint statement in opposition to the bill.

“Currently, for a variety of reasons, we are not ready to vote for this bill, but we are open to negotiation and obtaining more information before it is brought to the floor,” the statement read. “There are provisions in this draft that represent an improvement to our current health care system, but it does not appear this draft as written will accomplish the most important promise that we made to Americans: to repeal Obamacare and lower their health care costs.”

They’re not the only senators who have openly criticized the bill.

Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska.) have both expressed their concerns with the bill’s proposed defunding of Planned Parenthood. “I do not like the provision that eliminates federal funding for Planned Parenthood,” Collins said, according to USA Today. “It makes no sense to single out Planned Parenthood from all the Medicaid providers and say that it can’t be a Medicaid provider.”

“Taxpayer dollars should not be used to pay for abortions, but I will not vote to deny Alaskans access to the health services Planned Parenthood provides,” Murkowski added.

There’s also Senators Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-W. Va.), who are against the GOP bill’s rapid rollback of the Medicaid funding. Ohio and West Virginia, like many other states, expanded their Medicaid enrollments under the ACA. The increased access to health care allowed many low-income adults to get treatment for opioid addictions.

West Virginia has the highest overdose death rate in the country, while the number of fatal drug overdoses in Ohio increased by 642 percent between 2000 and 2015. Getting rid of federal health care funding for low-income childless adults (the demographic most affected by the opioid crisis) wouldn't just be "bad" for Portman’s and Moore’s constituents—it would be deadly.

Republican Senator Dean Heller (Nev.) also saw his state expand Medicaid under Obamacare. “I have made clear that I want to make sure the rug is not pulled out from under Nevada or the more than 200,000 Nevadans who received insurance for the first time under Medicaid expansion,” Heller said in a statement. Both Heller and Cruz are up for re-election in 2018, which might explain their hesitation to pass the extremely unpopular Senate bill.

And while President Donald Trump says he supports the new bill, let’s not forget that just last week he called the same one “mean.”

With the Fourth of July Congressional recess coming up, GOP leaders have just one week to change their health bill enough to lure back doubtful conservatives. Otherwise, the same Senators will have a chance to face opposition groups and angry voters at home.

Snapchat's New Snap Map Update Is Really Freaking People Out

Snapchat’s got a creepy new update—Snap Map. The newest feature, introduced on Thursday, seemingly aims to compete with Facebook and Apple, but it's a much more disconcerting version of their location features.

While Facebook’s “Nearby Friends” feature will show people your general location, for example, Snapchat's feature shows your exact street location. According to the BBC, was provided by third-party service Map Box. Although Snapchat believes that they've introduced a brand new way to explore the world, they're really just perpetuating a culture of oversharing. Needless to say, Snap Map has mixed reviews.

I Lived Like the Pretty Little Liars For a Day & This Is What Happened

Pretty Little Liars has captured our hearts and minds over the last seven years, and we have to keep watching no matter how wildly implausible it gets. There’s so much about this show that is #goals (the boyfriends, the outfits) and so much that is #antigoals (mostly the murder). As the final season comes to an end, I decided to experience Liar life for myself. This put me in the shoes of a young and beautiful Rosewood citizen for a day, and I don’t think I’ll ever be the same.

8:30 a.m.: Pick out my outfit

To truly embody the spirit of a Liar, I had to pick an absurd outfit. My wardrobe is pretty simple, so I couldn’t quite get on Aria’s level, but I ended up with a printed dress, silver heels, and an oversize cardigan, plus the biggest earrings I own (which, unfortunately, are very regular-sized gold hoops). The outfit felt mismatched, impractical and slightly glamorous—exactly what I was going for. As I was walking out the door, I noticed my boyfriend putting a black hoodie on. I don’t remember him owning a black hoodie, but whatever, sometimes he goes to TJ Maxx without me.

Me trying & failing to channel Emily's pose in the Season 7 poster.

9:30 a.m.: Commute to work

I take Boston’s green line to work, which is well known for being slower than a car. But a slow ride shouldn’t get in the way of drama when you aspire to be a Pretty Little Liar! A guy I’ve befriended from our office was on the train, too, and he came over to talk to me. He looked worried and tried to press a train ticket into my hand, even though I clearly already have a train pass. But before I could tell him that, people in black hoodies suddenly pulled open the doors of the train and pushed the guy off while we were still moving!! I wasn’t sure how these hoodie people managed to pull off throwing someone off the train in broad daylight, but not everything can make perfect sense when you’re living like a TV character.

10 a.m.: Work

The first few hours at work were relatively normal, given that I had just seen someone get pushed off of a train. I was freaked out by that, but I remembered that I was trying to live like a Liar, and those girls have seen some shit. They don’t get fazed by murder—in fact, they thrive on it. With that mindset, I was able to blow through editing several news posts, and even sat in on a few meetings. I didn’t tell anyone else what I saw on the train, because I honestly don’t know who I can trust in the Her Campus office. Then, around 1:30, every phone in the office started vibrating at the same time. We had all received the same text: “HCXO no more, bitches.” Then the police showed up at the office, and told me I’d have to go with them.

2 p.m.: Get questioned about murder

I was a little worried headed to the police station, because I’d been on the train when someone got pushed off of it. I thought I should probably get a lawyer. But I had to stay true to the Pretty Little Liars experiment, and the Liars would never get a lawyer—that’s pretty much the least PLL thing you can do. And unfortunately, I don’t have an adoptive mom to be my legal counsel. So instead I tried to be as vague as possible, and also act sexy, since the Liars are always hooking up with authority figures who get in their way. It didn’t work, as I don’t have a lot of practice being seductive, but the officers were so embarrassed for me that they let me go.

6 p.m.: Head back home

By this point I was totally exhausted from the police questioning and seductive behavior. I made my way back to my apartment, hoping to just chill with my boyfriend for a while to let go of the stress of the day. But even though my BF works from home, he wasn’t there when I got back. I tried to call him—no answer. Just when I was starting to get worried, he walked through the door wearing that new black hoodie and somehow totally covered in dirt. I asked him where he’d been, and he said “a gardening convention.” Weird, because he’s never expressed an interest in gardening in his life...But hey, I’m just glad he has a new hobby!

8 p.m.: Receive a visit from an unsettling doctor

After dinner, the BF and I were just about to start watching TV when there was a knock on the door. It was this hot British guy who claimed to work at a local mental hospital. He said I might want to come with him, because a relative of mine was at the hospital and wasn’t doing well. But at this point, I had decided I’d had enough of living like a Pretty Little Liar. So I said, “Not today, Satan! I mean, Wren!” and shut the door in his face.

This High School Senior Re-Created Beyoncé's 'Lemonade' Album Cover on His Graduation Cap

There are just some moments in life when you deserve to feel like Beyoncé, and graduating high school or college is definitely one of them - but this high school senior took feeling like the Queen herself to the next level with a ***flawless re-creation of Bey's Lemonade album cover on his graduation cap.

Recent high school grad Maurice Dane Scott decided to decorate his cap with some inspiration from the Queen - but instead of simply using her inspiring AF lyrics or a photo of Bey, he created his own version of her iconic Lemonade cover. He totally copied her look spot-on, complete with a fur jacket and 'Graduate' splashed across the front of the photo instead of Bey's album title.

Because Scott's version nailed it down to Bey's bow-down pose (seriously, how did he get it so perfect?), his tweet of the finished product racked up over 2,000 retweets.

Like basically all of us, Scott says that he's majorly inspired by Lemonade, which is what caused him to make it part of one of the most major milestones in his life. "Beyoncé has been a huge inspiration in my life," he told Time in an interview. "To me, Lemonade means diversity. That's the kind of flexible and cultured person I want to be. I also love the poetry, the visuals, and the political statements."

Killing it. We have a feeling Queen Bey would approve.

Trump Basically Just Admitted That Russia Interfered in the 2016 Presidential Election

Despite repeatedly calling allegations that his team colluded with Russia to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, "fake news," President Donald Trump seemed to admit that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election on Twitter Friday evening, blaming the Obama administration for not doing anything about it.

"Just out: The Obama Administration knew far in advance of November 8th about election meddling by Russia. Did nothing about it. WHY?" his tweet read.

As BuzzFeed Newsreports, Trump seems to have changed his tune - prior to his tweet Friday, Trump has described the CIA's findings that Russia may have interfered in the election as "phony," a "total hoax," and a "Democrat excuse." Earlier in the week White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer also reportedly refused to give a straight answer about whether or not the Trump administration believes Russia meddled in the election.

I have not sat down and talked to him about that specific thing," he told reporters, according to BuzzFeed News. "Obviously we've been dealing with a lot of other issues today."

Trump continued to place the blame on Obama in an interview with Fox and Friends which is scheduled to air Sunday. "Well I just heard today for the first time that Obama knew about Russia a long time before the election, and he did nothing about it," he told the program. "If he had the information, why didn't he do something about it? He should have done something about it. But you don't read that. It's quite sad.”

6 Beauty Tricks from the Kardashians You SHOULD Keep Up With

Keeping Up with the Kardashians is in its 12th season and Kardashian-Jenner fans everywhere have watched the family go through some serious transformations. We’ve watched Khloe tone it up, we’ve seen Kim as a blonde and we’ve watched Kendall and Kylie go from awkward middle schoolers to model status. Even though the leading ladies get their hair and makeup done by professionals on most days, they’ve still learned a beauty trick or two.

Khloe’s Healthy Brunette-to-Blonde Transition

Once a dark brown maven, Khloe decided to go icy blonde. Since constantly dying your hair can have harmful long-term effects, Khloe’s hair colorist, Tracey Cunningham took it slow when it came to turning her into a blonde bombshell and you should too. Work with one hair colorist and let them know what color you want to be. Depending on what color your hair is now and what your dream color is, there will be a preparation period and you may not get the final color after the first session. During your next trip to the salon, remember slow and steady wins the race!

Kylie’s Krazy, Yet Useful, Skin Moisturizer Trick

Kylie sent the Internet buzzing when she gave her friend a makeover on her namesake app. Why? Because the Snapchat superstar used a large brush by Artis Elite Makeup Brush Collection ($72) to apply moisturizer. Using a (clean!) brush to work moisturizer into your skin has several benefits: you won't be transferring the oils from your fingernails and the dirt from under your nails onto your face; the gentle massage of the brush is good for your skin; and the moisturizer is applied more evenly. Save some money and purchase a dupe of Kylie's brush for under $2 on Ebay!

Kendall’s Everyday Mascara Routine

She may be the face of Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Knockout Mascara ($27.50) but Kendall’s never been a stranger to the lash-lengthening product. The runway model always boasts a fierce lash game; it’s one of the few trademarks of her beauty routine. How do you get Kendall's great lashes? The key is layering. Avoid clumps and make your lashes look long by waiting a few seconds before putting on a new layer of mascara. Stick to around three layers for ultimate length and volume and strut like you're the model herself.

Caitlyn’s Signature Beach Waves

She may have a beauty team just like her stepdaughters, but Caitlyn Jenner knows how to fend for herself (and her hair) when her hairstylist Courtney Nanson isn’t around. Her secret? The Beachwaver PRO by Sarah Potempa ($199), Nanson told Allure last August. The Beachwaver will save you time and technique because it curls your hair for you, with just the click of a button. When it releases, your hair is one step closer to looking like you spent the day hanging with Jenner in her Malibu pad.

Kim’s Obsession With a Strong Strobe

In 2010, Kim and her makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic made a video tutorial about how to do your makeup like Kim. Now, Kim and Mario don’t have to rely on YouTube to share any tutorials because of the Kim Kardashian West app. Take a page from Kim’s makeup book and start strobing. Strobing is a new highlighting technique that's had celebrities, their makeup artists and beauty addicts everywhere going crazy. Simply put highlighter wherever natural light hits your face. It illuminates your cheekbones, nose bridge and cupid’s bow to make it look like you have a constant spotlight on you. Stand in front of your window with a mirror and find out where the light shows you love and get to highlighting. If you need some more guidance, there’s no better way to learn from the duo themselves, so grab a seat and get your highlighter ready.

Kris's Everyday Nude Gloss

The matriarch of the Kardashian-Jenner brand isn't known for keeping it simple. Remember, this is the same mom who called Kim out for her 72-day marriage! But, when it comes to makeup, Kris sticks to what she knows. One of the most prominent parts of Kris's everyday look is her nude, glossy lips. Test it out on yourself by getting a neutral lipstick in your perfect shade and layering on a clear gloss. It's a good partner to a smoky eye and the key to nailing the 'no makeup' makeup look.

Kourtney's Flawless Skin Secret

Kourtney's family and personal drama may be played out on reality television, but the oldest of the famous siblings has kept her beauty routine a mystery. Generally spotted with the least amount of makeup, Kourtney's looks are about as natural as those wheatgrass shots she takes. Knowing you always have to have a strong foundation, Kourtney keeps her skin in check with a Clarisonic. Kourt told Into the Gloss that she relies on the device to wash her face every day.  Its moving brush heads smooth out rough patches and dead skin, specialized brush heads target anything from acne to deep cleansing and different speeds are there to help when your skin is in a really bad place. Pick up the perfect Clarisonic for you ($99 to 199) and glow like Kourtney.

Being in the spotlight is tough, but if there’s one thing you can give the Kardashian-Jenner crew credit for, it’s being glam. We may not agree with Kim’s past tanning history, but just like their television show, these ladies have evolved. Learn from their mistakes and take the good tips with you to the vanity.

Playing House's Lennon Parham & Jessica St. Clair Are the Best Best Friends on TV

Watching best friends on TV is totally different than witnessing them in real life. First of all, actors who play best friends on screen aren’t always besties off screen. I can safely say that Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair, who play BFFs Maggie and Emma on USA’s Playing House, are as close as two friends can get both on screen and off.

The two have made a habit of showing how much they mean to each other—something that will bleed over into their comedy series’ third season. Like Jessica, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in Sept. 2015, Emma will face the Big C with her friends by her side. “When I got diagnosed with breast cancer, Lennon showed up within minutes of me getting the call to the doctor’s office, and she didn’t leave my side for the entire year,” Jessica told reporters in a press call Friday. “And basically, my friends made a promise to me, which is that I would never be alone in this fight, not for one second. And that ended up being the truth.”

While Emma’s breast cancer battle will include funny moments mirroring Jessica’s own experiences (like how happy she was that she got to keep her nipples), the way her friends rallied around her will be a consistent theme for Emma, too. “It’s crazy because would I wish this on anybody? No. But at the same time, I got to see how beautiful my friends are. And I think that every woman has felt that from their friends,” Jessica said. “And I’m just so proud to be a woman. I’m proud to have a daughter. And I’m proud to know how amazingly kickass my friends are. And that’s what we show in the show. Exactly that.”

Lennon was on the front lines with Jessica throughout her fight, just as Maggie will be with Emma, and she reiterated her costar’s praise of the network of women who helped her through. “They all have superpowers…And everybody was bringing their superpower of joy or being able to access doctors and other opinions or just show up and take you to lunch. So I think that’s the village component that women have down,” Lennon said.

Emma and Maggie’s friendship will be changed by more than cancer in Season 3, but this development comes as much happier news: Mark and Emma are *finally* a couple! How will this affect Maggie and Emma’s dynamic? Answer: Not at all.

Once again, Jessica and Lennon drew inspiration from their own lives when deciding that Emma and Maggie’s significant others (yep, Maggie’s getting a boyfriend, too) will just have to accept the pair’s hyper-close bond. “In our real lives, Lennon and I are best friends, and we’re comedy wives. She’s my comedy wife,” Jessica explained. “And our husbands are also obviously super important to us. But our husbands just accept that—like, my husband calls Lennon his other wife. And so that’s what it is like for Mark and Emma and Maggie.”

“And I think in any true best friendship, the men of their lives understand that their friendship in a lot of ways comes first and they are, in some ways, along for the ride,” Jessica continued, laughing. “Once you find the guy that accepts that and supports it, then that’s a keeper in my book.”

While Maggie and Emma might be taking on challenges they haven’t tackled on screen before, Lennon and Jessica definitely know what they’re doing. Because these best friends are doin' it for themselves.

1. Post subliminal tweets

Subtweet here, subtweet there. Subtweet everywhere!

In the hopes that you will see them.

3. Play dumb when confronted about any suspicious behavior

"I don't know what you're talking about." Sure, sure you don't.

Air quotes necessary.

11. Tease you about things you like

It's supposed to be funny, so why does it feel so aggressive?

12. Make it extremely obvious that something is wrong

Without flat-out saying it, of course. Oh, but don't worry! Nothing is wrong!

13. Give backhanded compliments

"That new hairstyle really works for your face!" Translation: Your old hairstyle was not flattering.

14. The fake smile paired with the fake laugh

No explanation necessary, here.

15. "Politely" judging your life choices

"I mean, personally, I am just not the type of person to go out on a Monday, but, I mean, if you are then that's cool!" #Sick
