It's here, people. The design team at Lilly Pulitzer drew up a magically colorful unicorn print, and it's everything you've ever wanted!

Even though this isn't the first unicorn-themed print the brand has created, it's definitely jumping right into the trendy world of unicorns (still not over the Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino, you guys). There is some bad news though. This mystical print won't be available in stores anytime soon, but there's still hope Lilly might release it! Reps from the company told Seventeen that, "We do not have current plans [for a unicorn-themed collection] but our print designers read all the social comments so you never know!"

Hear that, everyone? Let's get commenting so we can get our hands on this unicorn print!!

12 Ways to Practice Self-Care During Finals

$
0
0

Finals week: the end of the semester is in sight, the weather is finally warming up and summer is just around the corner. All that’s left is a week or so of intense stress, long days and nights packed with studying and far too much caffeine. Finals and stress go together like The Bachelor and drama, and often we tell ourselves nothing is more important than acing that last test. But on the way to success, we sometimes sacrifice taking care of ourselves, assuring ourselves self-care is a luxury we can’t afford to think about at a time like this. However, self-care is essential to performing well on finals. If we feel our best, we can study and test our best.

Here are a few ways to take care of yourself during finals week so you can walk into your test feeling confident and focused and walk out knowing you did awesome.

1. Keep up your normal self-care routines

Often during the busy finals season simple things like showering become luxuries that we convince ourselves we don’t need. In the end, however, those 15 minutes that we “save” just hurt us later on.

“Some women skip basic beauty habits like washing their hair, telling themselves they have no time for such things during finals,” says Beverly Hills psychiatrist and author Carole Lieberman, M.D. “And, although you can skip spending hours doing your makeup, you will waste time feeling bad about yourself if you don’t keep up the basics.”

Keep your normal hygiene routines up, and you’ll feel better all around. Plus, your study mates will probably thank you.

2. Eat nutritiously

Eating well nourishes both your body and mind. According to Lieberman, the time you think you save for studying by grabbing junk food from the machines instead of going to the cafeteria can actually hurt you in the long run.

“Don’t eat terrible food and blame it on finals,” says Darby Pedersen, a freshman at the University of Missouri.

Getting proper nutrients will help your brain function effectively and will keep you full and satisfied so you aren’t distracted by a grumbling stomach while studying.

3. Get adequate amounts of sleep

Sleep: the ultimate collegiate luxury. It seems we can never get enough—even during the regular school year—no matter how hard we try. But once finals week hits? Forget about it.

“The biggest thing is to not change your sleep schedule too much,” Darby says. “If you usually go to bed at midnight, don’t suddenly start going to bed at 3 a.m.”

Our peers convince us we don’t need sleep, and it’s almost like a competition to see who can stay up the latest to study. However, according to Katrina Conrad, assistant director for student well-being at the University of Notre Dame, pulling all-nighters is one of the biggest mistakes students make. “Getting the appropriate amount of sleep is critical for memory consolidation,” says Conrad. “Therefore, if you're cutting your sleep, you could be adding a barrier to your own learning process.”

Seven to nine hours of sleep is the ideal amount for optimal performance. While that might seem like too many hours of studying to spare, your studying will be of a higher quality to compensate for the shorter quantity.

4. Get active

Nothing clears your mind like a good sweat session. While you may be tempted to use finals as an excuse to skip out on the gym for a week, try to stop in a couple times just to give your brain a break. “Continuing normal physical activity routines can be excellent for stress relief,” Conrad says.

Plus, you can get your Netflix fix by watching your favorite guilty pleasure while on the treadmill or elliptical.

5. Go for a walk (with intention)

If you just don’t have the energy for a full on workout or if you have been sitting stationary at your desk for hours, try going for a short walk around campus.

“It’s super important to not hole up indoors for 72 hours at a time,” Darby says. “You need to go outside.”

Conrad advises to walk with intention; notice the world around you, outside the library. Take in the beauty of your college campus and remember why you’re working so hard in the first place.

6. Try mindfulness or meditation

These techniques are great stress relievers and give your mind a chance to recharge and refocus. Starting your day off with a short meditation or mindfulness exercise sets you on track for productivity and memory recollection. If you’ve never tried mindfulness or meditation before, there are lots of great apps that lead you through short, guided sequences. Try HeadSpace or Calm.

7. Make your study breaks intentional

One thing Conrad emphasizes is on the importance of intention. “The ultimate self-care is finding balance within life's imbalance and being compassionate towards oneself,” she says. “Taking the time to intentionally find balance for yourself, especially in challenging times, demonstrates self-compassion.”

Make your studybreaks intentional, rather than just moments of weakness for you to scroll through Instagram. Use that time to engage in something that you love to do, even if it's only for a short period of time during your long study sessions.

8. Be kind to yourself

Self-care is practicing self-compassion, something college women don’t always make the time to do. If a friend was having trouble, we would react with support and kindness, but when we find ourselves in that situation, we don’t always show ourselves the same level of care.

“Self-compassion is simply compassion turned inward,” Conrad says. “It refers to the tendency to be reassuring toward ourselves and tolerant of our mistakes, rather than being harshly self-critical.  Practicing self-compassion enhances well-being by helping us cope more effectively with stress and easing our fear of failure.”

Calm your nerves once in a while with a deep breath and remind yourself of your many strengths. You deserve the support you give others, and in fact you need it to perform at your best. Do things that make you feel confident instead of increasing your fear of failure.

9. Incorporate power naps

Naps aren’t just for toddlers (or Corinne from The Bachelor). Power naps are real, and they are effective. A 20-minute nap is the ideal length for a short recharge for your mind, and can even help you better retain the information you’ve been poring over for hours.

10. Don’t panic

Looking at the massive amount of material you still have to go over and wondering how you will ever understand or remember any of it can set anyone into full-blown panic mode.

“As finals approach, many college women go into ‘panic mode’ and stop taking care of themselves,” Lieberman says. “They think they need to spend every minute sitting and studying, and forget that their well being affects their grades.”

Panicking does not actually help you do better. It just distracts you and keeps you from using your energy efficiently. Don’t let the daunting task ahead intimidate you. Take a deep breath, focus and take it one step (and page) at a time.

11. Check out de-stress events on campus

A lot of the time, campus clubs or university centers will conduct de-stressing events throughout finals week. Keep an eye out for flyers and Facebook events with free food, games, yoga and sometimes even puppies. Remember what we said about taking intentional study breaks to do something you enjoy.

12. Prioritize self-care daily, not just during stressful times

Often self-care gets pushed aside during our daily routine because there’s a misconception that it’s some kind of privilege that we just don’t deserve or don’t have time for. “Taking care of yourself—your physical health, stress level and other emotions—should be a year-round habit, not just for finals,” Lieberman says.

Post-finals week, if you find something that was helpful, don’t just forget about it until December rolls around. “Once you find something that works for you, work it into your regular routine and don't let it be the activity that gets cut out of your schedule when you get busy or stressed,” Conrad suggests. “Simply remember to be kind to yourself and give yourself time for you, especially during higher stress times.”

Self-care allows us to be at our best and most confident, both during and after finals week. It shouldn't be something that only gets prioritized when we are stressed.

“Make a list of the things you want to incorporate into your life to be at peak performance all the time, and schedule time for exercise, social support, meditation, vitamins and so on into your day,” Lieberman says.

Take a breath, take a walk, take a break or take a shower. Do whatever you need to feel refreshed, and then hit the books!

Her most recent piece of art is a fierce AF lion tattoo done by none other than the famous artist Bang Bang. So it's safe to say that he only inks the best of the best.

This "Commuter Barbie" Parody Is SPOT ON

For those of you who live in a busy city like New York or Chicago, prepare to be obsessed with this hilarious Barbie parody commercial.

Created by Carina Hsieh, Sex & Relationships editor at Cosmopolitan.com, and Claudia Arisso, a brand packaging designer, "Commuter Barbie" is always late, loves Trader Joes, and reads The New Yorker religiously. So basically, she is the definition of your typical New York woman.

According to Buzzfeed, the two best friends got the idea one night while they were visiting The Strand, a popular New York bookstore famous for cheap and discounted books. "We saw a mini Strand tote bag keychain, and it set off a PTSD flashback to every canvas-lined rush hour commute we’ve ever had," Hsieh said.

Hsieh also told the Huffington Post that her friend “Claudia mentioned how she’d TOTALLY buy a Commuter Barbie, and then I wouldn’t STFU up about it and nagged her until we made it." And from that, Barbie, or "Babrie" as her Starbucks cup says, was born.

After posting the video on social media, the fictional product became an instant hit. As a New Yorker myself, I can literally relate to this entire video. That's how good it is.

Buzzfeed also notes that Commuter Barbie comes with all the essentials including a Metrocard, a Clif bar, an iPhone playing "This Barbie Life," and even a yoga mat. Goodbye, I am dead. The internet has hit its peak.

21 Things Only Twins Understand

Being a twin comes with its ups, downs and fair share of crazy moments that nobody else could ever understand. If you thought being a twin always sounded really cool, you're right—it's amazing.

1. Getting asked "Are you related?" as if it isn't obvious

2. Constantly having your names messed up

3. Her friends are your friends, and your friends are her friends

4. You've tried to switch places in class at least once

5. You miss each other after a (really) short time apart

6. But when you are apart, you can always talk to her about your problems any time of the day and she will listen

7. She's your built-in friend to always hang out with

8. You two are a package deal when it comes to invites

9. When someone tells you a secret, they are really telling you and your twin

10. Fights end extremely fast because you can't go that long without talking

11. Random people will say "hi" to you because they've got the wrong twin

12. "Which one of you is older?" is the question you're asked most

13. And you quickly get treated like a spot-the-difference game

14. Sharing everything wasn't an option, it was a way of life

15. Even fashion was shared in that stage when your parents made you match

16. Since you look the same, people always assume you have the same exact personality and interests

17. Sometimes a look is all it takes to know what the other is thinking or feeling

18. People automatically assume you’re identical and if you’re fraternal, the doctors must have been wrong

19. Nobody has more inside jokes than you two

20. And you have an automatic best friend you’ve known literally your entire life

21. Which means you have the strongest bond life could ever give to anyone and you absolutely love it

6 Texts Guys Send When They’re Interested

$

When you first meet a potential partner, texting back and forth is one way to find out if you’re a good fit. Of course you’ll also want to hang out in person, but the way a guy texts can say a lot about his intentions. Is he flirtatious? Does he make jokes? Knowing the difference between friendly conversation and playful banter can sometimes be tricky. Luckily, we talked to college guys and girls to get the scoop on what it all means. Here are six kinds of texts guys send when they’re interested in you.

1. He asks you questions

If a guy is interested in getting to know you better, he’ll want to engage you in conversation — even if it’s just over text. Mitchell, a recent Emerson College graduate, says that he’ll talk to a girl about her interests and what she does for fun. “I’ll ask random questions that get the conversation rolling,” he says. “I just try to get to know the person as I’m talking to them.” While he may not be thinking about dating you yet, if he asks you genuine questions over text, he’s definitely trying to get closer to you. The same goes for his responses.

“The fact that he actually cares enough to write meaningful responses back to you means a lot,” says Shereen Jeyakumar, a sophomore at Florida Atlantic University. “Maybe you tell him about a book you read, and he messages back about how interesting it sounds or recommends books back to you. The effort he puts into responding is quite telling, even though at first glance it might seem platonic. He definitely knows you're someone worth pursuing and since that's based on your intelligence and your interesting conversation, he's most likely a keeper!” We agree with this 100 percent.

2. He brings up something you like

If he’s always mentioning things that you like, he probably sees you as more than just a friend. Maybe he wants to watch your favorite TV show with you, or he suggests you two go on a hike together because that’s more your thing. Tyler, a senior at Emerson College, says that when he is interested in someone he’ll try to talk more about them than anything else. “I try to find out what kind of music, movies and TV you like," he says. "Get you talking about what you’re passionate about.” If a guy wants to talk about you more than him, that’s definitely a good sign.

“Other guys I text send one word answers or they wouldn't type out the whole word but [this specific] guy was interested in what I had to say, he asked me questions and it was really nice to see him interested in me and actually listening,” says Irina Alejandro, a junior at the University of Houston. “A particular text he sent was, ‘Oh sweet! What's one of your favorite novels?’ It doesn't sound like a lot but I'm a big reader and it meant a lot.” Even a seemingly small question like that shows that he’s listening!

3. He remembers an important event

Another telling sign that he’s interested is that he pays attention to what you say and remembers things you tell him. If he brings up an important event that you mentioned earlier, he may be trying to connect. Maybe he’ll ask you how a job interview went, or tell you to wish your best friend a happy birthday from him.

“One text I got from a guy that let me know he was interested was when he texted me after I flew home for Thanksgiving and asked how my flight was,” says Haley Miller, a sophomore at Miami University. “It showed that he cared that I landed safely and that he wanted to talk even though we weren’t at school together.” If a guy goes above and beyond over text, he’ll probably do the same in a relationship.

4. He tries to impress you

When a guy likes a girl, he’s going to want to impress her. Texts that allow him to show off a little could mean he wants to get your attention. Maybe he mentions that he’s been stepping it up at the gym, or that he just got his work published online. Whatever it is he’s bragging about, he’s probably doing it for you.

“One text I remember distinctly that made me realize that my current boyfriend was interested was a text that would really ‘wow’ a potential partner,” says Katia Davis, a junior at the University of Kentucky. “Before we met up he told me that he could take me to the top of the second tallest building in our city. I knew he was interested in something between us because he could potentially get in trouble for taking random people into his workplace. I don't think someone would go to such lengths to impress someone for nothing!” We’re in agreement here. If he takes a risk for you, he clearly thinks you’re worth the possibility of getting in trouble!

5. He’s sweet

When he shows that he cares about you and your well-being, that’s a sure sign that he’s into you. “I’ll wish good morning, and ask how the day is going,” says Tyler. “Basically I try to be a good friend.” What starts off as being a good friend, however, can definitely turn into something more!

“Guys may even text you about something they saw on your social media, because a simple like wasn't enough,” says Courtney Martere, a senior at Marist College. “Of course the genuine ‘How's your day going?’, ‘How'd that test go?’ or ‘How was your night?’ questions are a sure sign a guy is into you. No man is going to wonder about your day-to-day life unless he's feeling it, and maybe wants to be a part of it.” If you reciprocate these sweet texts, he’ll be sure to notice.

6. He’s straightforward

Finally, if a guy is into you, he’ll say it! He might not blatantly write, “I like you” via iMessage. Over text, though, he might show it through emojis, fast replies or flirty messages. “I find that guys will be super quick to respond when they are interested,” says Ella Purtill, a third year at Western University. Of course, that’s not the only way to tell he wants to be more than friends.

“If he ends up being bae and we're a lot more comfortable, I'll get: ‘Come spend the night,’ ‘I wanna see you/I miss you,’ ‘You're in the wrong bed,’” says Ashley Drayton, a recent graduate of Georgia State University. Like we said, sometimes guys actually do say what they mean.

Whether it’s a new texting buddy or a guy you’ve been talking to for a while, it can be difficult to know if he thinks of you as more than a friend. These six signs are all good indicators that he’s interested. And if all else fails, you can always just ask!

Unless you live under a giant, soundproof, social media proof, rock, then you have probably heard about the new Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino. With its mango flavor and its eye-catching purple and pink hue, it's no wonder why people are going crazy over the picture-worthy concoction.

A post shared by Starbucks Coffee (@starbucks) on

One makeup artist, Isabelle Scott, took the Unicorn Frappuccino craze to a whole new level by dressing herself as the magical drink by using body paint.

With thousands of crazy makeup trends popping up left and right, this isn't really that surprising, but props to her for being able to slay this delicious look! To watch the whole tutorial, you can check out the video on her YouTube page.

Although I have yet to try the Unicorn drink myself, if it has people wanting to LOOK like the drink, then it must be pretty damn delicious.

If your idea of a great day is one spent in the library, at the bookstore, or reading in a sunny spot, you might be a book lover. It seems sometimes that book characters are better than real people. Have you ever felt this way? If so, read on:

1. You’d rather read a book than go to a party.

2. Because you’d rather spend time with book characters than real people.

3. You compare all romantic interests to book characters,

4. And sometimes they just don’t stack up.

5. Because you feel like you might be a little in love with someone fictional.

6. You never get tired of talking about books.

7. But you feel personally insulted when your favorite character is attacked.

8. And will fight to the death for their honor.

9. You meet most of your real life friends in the bookstore,

10. Or at book club meetings,

11. Or at book signings.

12. You can’t believe it when someone hasn’t read your favorite book.

13. You’ll probably name your kids after book characters.

14. Because flipping through a new book is like meeting an old friend again.

15. Your perfect day is one spent reading.

Khloe Kardashian Is Being Sued for Posting a Picture of Herself on Instagram

Maybe Khloe Kardashian should stick to posting selfies from now on. The fitness and fashion guru is facing a lawsuit from paparazzi agency XPosure Photos for posting a picture of herself on Instagram.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the complaint states, “Plaintiff never licensed the Photograph to defendants. Nevertheless, defendants have used, and continue to use, the Photograph without authorization or permission from plaintiff to do so.” The defendants include Khloe and ten others, possibly members of her social team. XPosure is seeking "an injunction, profits arising from the act of alleged infringement, statutory damages up to $25,000 and more.”

The photo in question was posted on Sept. 14, 2016, according to court documents. The paparazzi pic, which shows Khloe and her sister Kourtney going to dinner at a restaurant in Miami, was originally taken by Manual Munoz and licensed to The Daily Mail. According to the complaint, the photo was edited to remove copyright information.

In a statement, XPosure blamed Khloe for taking away their opportunity to profit from the photo. “Kardashian’s Instagram post made the photograph immediately available to her nearly 67 million followers and others, consumers of entertainment news—and especially news and images of Kardashian herself, as evidenced by their status as followers of Kardashian—who would otherwise be interested in viewing licensed versions of the photograph in the magazines and newspapers that are plaintiff’s customers.”

While it seems ridiculous for Khloe to be facing legal repercussions for posting a picture of herself, she and her sisters do make a lot of money on Instagram. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this legal battle plays out.

5 Ways To Transition To a Long Distance Relationship

$
0
0

College relationships are completely different from dating in high school. For roughly two hundred days out of the year, your college significant other is a mere jaunt across campus or right down the hall. You probably see each other every day and alternate sleeping at each other’s dorm rooms. In most ways, college relationships are far superior to the frivolous high school relationships that you had settled for in the past. However, one drawback to the collegiette relationship is the high chance that you’ll have to go through some patches of long distance.

Unlike your high school sweetheart, your college SO probably won’t live in your hometown. Being apart for breaks in the school year can be both challenging and intimidating. With summer break right around the corner, we have constructed a list of ways that you can prepare for the transition to a long distance relationship with your college significant other.

1. Communicate beforehand

Communication is key in any relationship, but absolutely critical in long distance relationships. Prior to the end of the school year, talk to your partner about what the summer will mean for the relationship. Some couples may choose to forgo an open relationship for the summer months, while others can devise plans to remain closer than ever.

Carsen Zink, a sophomore at the University of Florida, says that she and her boyfriend plan to “FaceTime a lot—at least a few times a week.” While both Zink and her boyfriend understand that it will be hard to match up with each other’s schedules, they are confident that with frequent FaceTime and texting, they will be able to “make three months apart work.”

Understanding that both of you are on the same page about what the summer will make the break a lot easier. Knowing that your partner is fully set on making the relationship work will help to curb your anxieties about the relationship failing or your partner losing interest.

2. Control your jealousy

Being apart for such a long time can be worrisome and cause you to get pretty crazy. It is important to trust your partner and not go off the deep end every time their platonic female friend pops up on their Snapchat story. Remember that it won’t be like it is at school. When you are back at school you probably go to all social gatherings together and never have to worry about what your significant other is doing.

For the three months that they are partying and socializing without you, it is understandable that you will get worried and jealous. However, constantly picking fights over these worries will cause problems in the relationship.

Allan Smith*, a junior at the University of Florida, places the blame for the termination of his last relationship on the constant fights he and his girlfriend had over the summer. “She was constantly getting mad when I went out with my friends, even though she was hundreds of miles away from me.” He says, “Of course I missed her too, but what was I supposed to do? Sit at home alone all summer? All of the fighting made me realize that we would never work long-term.”

If you really love and care for your partner, you should be able to trust them and avoid this mistake. If you find yourself unable to trust them, maybe it is a good way to realize that the relationship just isn’t going to work.

3. Stay busy and have your own life

The summer is going to be torture if all you do is sit at home and think about your significant other and what they are doing. When you’re in a relationship, it is important to remain independent. This is even truer when you are in a long distance relationship.

Sophia Kremp*, a junior at Florida State University, says that she did whatever she could to keep herself busy and keep living her life. “To avoid constantly thinking about my boyfriend, I made sure to fill up my schedule,” she says.

Of course you will miss them and think about them still, but at least you will still be doing things that you enjoy and remembering that you don’t need them in order to have a good time.

4. Get creative

Nightly phone calls and habitual good morning texts are great and all, but if you are going to make it several months without seeing each other, you are going to have to go a little further to remind your partner of how much you care for them.

“I would send my girlfriend a care package every month and fill it with things she loved to remind her of how much I care about her,” says Brandon Johnson*, a sophomore at the University of Florida.

Madison Ray, a freshman at the University of Florida, says that while going through last summer with her girlfriend, she would “do little things like make her girlfriend her #WomanCrushWednesday, and give her a public shoutout, saying how much she missed her.”

Going the extra mile for your partner is a great way to make sure that they don’t have any worries about how you feel about them. Reminding them of how much you love them, even from miles away, is a good way to keep the spark alive in the relationship.

5.  Plan ahead

Before going into the summer, it is important to plan. Just like you planned ahead when lining up your summer jobs and internships and planned which bikinis you’ll be wearing at the beach, you need to plan for your relationship.

If you and your partner live only a few hours away, plan ahead for times that you can visit each other for a few days, or even just a few hours. If you live a little farther and have the means to do so, plan a time that you or your partner can fly to see each other or meet somewhere in the middle.

Making the effort to see your partner even when you are separated by so many miles will really show how serious you are about the relationship. Even better, you’ll make some pretty amazing memories.

Long distance relationships can be hard and will certainly test your relationship, but if you want it to work, it will. Once you and your partner return to campus, your relationship will be stronger than ever and you’ll be happy that you made it through.

Caitlyn Jenner Claims Khloe Kardashian Hasn't Talked to Her in Two Years

In a recent interview with Andy Cohen, Caitlyn Jenner publicized her rocky relationship with members of the Kardashian family. While discussing her memoir, The Secrets of My Life, Jenner reacted to the negative comments ex-wife Kris Jenner and some of her former stepchildren have thrown her way. Most suprisingly, she admitted, "[Khloe] doesn't want to talk to me either. But she hasn't talked to me in, like, two years."

After she came out as Caitlyn on the cover of Vanity Fair, the Kardashians took to social media to express their love and support. Khloe was actually one of the first in the family to share a touching message. In June 2015, she wrote on Instagram, "We were given this life because you were strong enough to live it! I couldn't be prouder!!! Caitlyn, You are beautiful!!!"

Not too long after, Jenner's stepdaughter started to distance herself. Khloe expressed her frustration about Jenner's Vanity Fair interview in a 2015 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. She accused Caitlyn of "bashing" Kris Jenner and tearing other people down to bring herself up.

Caitlyn now remembers how close she and Khloe used to be, saying of their estrangement, "That's sad. I was very very close to Khloé, I mean I had 23 years of raising her. I met Khloe when she was five years old. Of course it hurts."

Only time will tell if Jenner's relationship with Khloe can be salvaged.

Johnny Depp Shocked Disneyland Guests by Playing Jack Sparrow On the Pirates of the Caribbean Ride

Yo ho! It was certainly a pirate’s life for actor Johnny Depp when he shocked guests at Disneyland on Wednesday. Entertainment Weeklyreports Depp replaced the typically mechanical Jack Sparrow on the beloved Pirates of the Caribbean ride to many riders’ surprise.

A lucky group of guests managed to record the actor’s Oscar-worthy performance, and many of them took to social media to share the once-in-a-lifetime experience.

For the park-goers who weren’t fortunate enough to see him on the ride, Depp made sure to appear once more at night on the balcony above the ride’s entrance.

One bystander told E! News, “Everyone was surprised, shocked and excited to see him. He acted exactly like his character in the movies.”

Depp’s appearance marks roughly one month until the release of his new film, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Hitting theaters May 29, the series’ fifth installment follows Jack Sparrow’s journey to locate a sea-controlling artifact before the ghost of a man he killed long ago takes revenge.

We think every Disney star should take advantage of this marketing strategy. Seriously, where was Emma Watson before Beauty and the Beast premiered?

Emma Watson & Bonnie Wright Had the Sweetest 'Harry Potter' Reunion

Who doesn’t love when the casts of their favorite childhood flicks reunite out of the blue? Harry Potter cast reunions happen to be my weakness, and this year has already brought us a Weasley sibling hangout and a Hogwarts class reunion that were both amazing. Another epic reunion happened this week when everyone's favorite witch Emma Watson was seen hanging with Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley, at the Tribeca Film Festival. Um, YES.

Refinery29 reports the two came together at the festival's red carpet premiere of Watson’s latest film The Circle. Wright was there to support her new series, Phone Calls, and has actually written and directed several short films since the Potter films wrapped in 2011. The Harry Potter ties have definitely stayed strong in her life—David Thewlis, otherwise known as Remus Lupin, appeared in her graduate film Separate We Come, Separate We Go.

We don’t know if Wright has stayed close enough with Watson to do a project together someday, but this picture of them talking to each other on the red carpet is too sweet.

According to E! Online, the stars were only able to chat for a brief moment before separating, but Harry Potter nerds know that just seeing these childhood figures reconnect is more than satisfying.

IKEA Hilariously Responded to That Lookalike Balenciaga Bag

Who doesn’t want to score a high fashion item at a fraction of the price? In a world of dupes, its always fantastic to find a similar look without the price tag, but who would have thought that we would be running to IKEA to pick up a lookalike from the latest Balenciaga collection? People were quick to compare the two bags… the only difference is that one of them costs 99 cents, and is meant for toting around anything and everything, and the other one costs $2,145 (and TBH with a price tag like that, I would be scared to put anything in it).

When IKEA first caught wind of the story, the brand was nothing but pleased, stating, “"We are deeply flattered that the Balenciaga tote bag resembles the IKEA iconic sustainable blue bag for 99 cents. Nothing beats the versatility of a great big blue bag!" Their statement is a far cry from ones that we’ve seen from other brands who have had their designs “ripped off” before; however, something tells me that IKEA never meant to make a fashion statement with their durable, reusable bag.

The creative agency used by IKEA continued the joke with an ad that provides buyers with a comprehensive list of ways to identify an original FRAKTA bag, all in good fun but with a serious subtweet @ Balenciaga.

The bag is strong enough to carry your hockey equipment and is so low-maintenance, it can be cleaned with a gardening hose. While it may not have a designer label (or price tag) attached to it, I can’t think of another bag that does so much at such a low price. TBH I can imagine the designers at Balenciaga just cringing at the thought of having smelly equipment in their bag, or someone taking a gardening hose to the vibrant leather of it.

Will you be picking up one of these “it” bags during your next furniture and Swedish meatballs field trip?

Just in Time For Finals Week, a New Study Explains How Much Coffee You Can Safely Have Per Day

A new ~scientific study~ just blessed us all with the news that 400mg—or about four eight-ounce cups—of caffeine per day won’t do anything harmful to healthy adults, BuzzFeed News reports. I personally try not to drink coffee, but it’s #FINALS!!!! and I’m currently sipping on an iced latte (can’t you tell?), so I’m happy to hear of this.

This was the first comprehensive study since 2003 to review all the extant other studies on the subject of caffeine's health effects.

According to the study, consuming less than or equal to 400mg of caffeine shouldn’t lead to any negative health effects. These effects include problems relating to “cardiovascular effects, behavioral effects, reproductive and developmental effects, acute effects, or bone status.” Coffee to celebrate, anyone?

The study states that unhealthy persons or persons with preexisting conditions that might predispose them to bad caffeine reactions should not adhere to the 4-cups-a-day-is-fine recommendation. It does say, however, that pregnant women can feel comfortable having up to 300mg of caffeine a day!

BuzzFeed even did us all the wonderful service of providing caffeine info for a few common beverages, so that we can all measure out the maximum healthy amount we can consume! You can have several Lipton Black Teas (55mg each), a little less than two 5-Hour Energys (215mg each) and...one Starbucks venti Pike Place coffee (410mg). Okay...so maybe this isn't the best news for finals season, but at least now we know!

I once heard that an apple will give you the same amount of energy as a morning cup of coffee. This seems like a lie, but can I get a study on that? Anything to distract me from paper writing.

Milo Yiannopoulos Wants to Hold a Weeklong Protest at Berkeley This Fall in the Name of Free Speech

Content warning: homophobia, transphobia, hate speech

In his apparently everlasting mission to verbally abuse marginalized groups, Milo Yiannopoulos has declared that he will hold a weeklong free speech protest event at UC Berkeley this fall, according to The Washington Post. This announcement comes after a planned appearance by Yiannopoulos at the school in February was cancelled amid controversy, and conservative figure Ann Coulter’s own recent appearance at Berkeley was also called off “over fears of violence,” according to The New York Times.

Yiannopoulos’s answer to these events—events he describes as attacks on conservatives’ right to free speech—is to set up a protest in the center of Berkeley’s campus. “He said he plans to hold the rallies on Sproul Plaza, the same site university officials had warned Coulter to avoid because of the wide range of security concerns there,” reports The Washington Post. “Sproul Plaza is the site of the 1960s Free Speech Movement protests.”

Yiannopoulos has promised that this event will have hefty security to ensure his own safety and that of his fellow protesters. Each day of the week (which he plans to extend to a month if he experiences resistance from Berkeley administration) will be assigned to virulently attacking protesting a particular activist or political group on the left.

Just for the sake of citing some examples, I’ve chosen to include some of Yiannopoulos’s comments for y’all to read here.

On gay people and homosexuality in general, Yiannopoulos writes in this Breitbart article, “Evolutionary science, it seems, presents us with an even more compelling reason why gays should pipe down and get back in the closet.”

On trans folks, Yiannopoulos said in an appearance in Delaware last year, “Of course many trannies, or those that make up their own new gender, are not actually retarded. But they are deeply mentally damaged, and they are failed by a liberal establishment obsessed with making them feel good about themselves.”

YEAH. I’d call that hate speech — and there’s plenty more where this came from. Hate speech, aside from being morally reprehensible, does not deserve protection under the U.S Constitution. Whether it can be prosecuted often depends on the case, but I'd argue that no school is obligated to give this guy a platform on their campus.

Verbal violence is real. This kind of base hatred for other individuals needs to be addressed. After all — isn’t that why Yiannopoulos is asking for so much protection for himself?

Harry Styles & His Band All Wore Matching Gucci Shoes

Harry Styles’ solo career has been just… gucci. Ever since the Brit singer left the mega-popular band One Direction in pursuit of his solo career, he’s been working hard to solidify himself, not just in the music community, but in the fashion one as well.

Lou Teasdale, Styles’ hairstylist (aka the woman behind those iconic locks) posted a photo of her feet in Gucci Rainbow Horsebit loafers to her Instagram story on Wednesday night. The loafers add a twist to the basic Gucci leather loafer with a rainbow pattern, and incorporate the brand’s classic red and green color scheme on the tongue of the shoe.

According to Teen Vogue, Harry was out and about in this exact pair last month, and the whole band appeared to be sporting these babies on Saturday Night Live. This is kind of out of character for Harry, who made a point of never coordinating outfits with One Direction, as we learned on the band's Carpool Karaoke stint. That said, it is pretty cute that they all decided to wear the same shoes. #friendgoals

In case you're interested in matching with the band, you can get the shoes for $695 at Saks Fifth Avenue (a steal LOL).

While the shoes seem a bit outlandish (and expensive) for day-to-day wear, they fit in perfectly with the aesthetic of an ex-boy band member who is looking to find his own way to stand out. For now though, I think I'll just stick to matching friendship bracelets with my squad … they still hit us with a pop of color, without the price tag.

United Airlines Is Offering Ridiculously Cheap Flights to Europe So You'll Like Them Again

In case you’ve been living under a rock, United Airlines just has not been able to catch a break lately.

First, the airline barred two young girls from boarding a flight because they were wearing leggings—a violation of the dress code for those traveling with employee passes. Weeks later, video footage surfaced of Dr. David Dao being forcibly dragged off a United plane after refusing to give up his seat on an overbooked flight. Just this week, a three-foot long rabbit named Simon was found dead on a United flight that was supposed to transport him safely from London to the U.S. Oh, and did we mention that someone got stung by a scorpion on a United flight a couple weeks ago?

After these PR disasters, United has vowed to make major changes to their policies, and they’ve decided to drop prices, too.

In preparation for summer travel, United is offering tickets to Trinidad and Tobago for as low as $274, and you can get from Boston to Sweden for just $364, according to Cosmopolitan.

And if you’re feeling hesitant to fly United, the airline is doing their best to change public perception by implementing some changes. They say passengers who have already boarded a flight will never be asked to give up their seat due to overbooking, and they've also upped the amount of money passengers will be able to receive for volunteering to switch flights.

However, The New York Times reports that flights are cheaper than they have been in years. This is due to “budget carriers forcing the competition to lower prices.” Whatever the reason may be, I say grab your girlfriends, book a flight, pack your bags and enjoy your summer, collegiettes—you earned it!
