Bill O'Reilly Is Out at Fox News After Sexual Harassment Allegations

Just over two weeks after it was reported that Fox News host Bill O’Reilly had been paying women to keep quiet on the subject of sexual harassment, New York Magazine is reporting that O’Reilly will not be returning to his popular show, The O’Reilly Factor.

On April 1, The New York Times published a damning report that O’Reilly had paid over $13 million in settlements to keep a total of five women from going public with their claims that he had behaved inappropriately or sexually harassed them. According to the report, the women who made complaints worked either for the network or for O’Reilly’s show specifically, but 21st Century Fox, the parent company for Fox News, failed to take any concrete action. One of the accounts was over a decade old. However, once the Times released their report, advertisers began to flee from O’Reilly’s show, taking with them valuable revenue. Interestingly, his viewership numbers actually rose in the days after the Times article. O’Reilly has denied any wrongdoing.

After the news broke, O’Reilly decided to take an extended vacation and was spotted shaking hands with the Pope at the Vatican. He was originally scheduled to return to his show on Monday, but according to a statement from Fox News, “After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel.” The decision was apparently reached after extensive consultation between Fox and outside counsel, who presumably encouraged the company to take faster action than they did when they dismissed Roger Ailes after similar complaints last summer.

Questions still remain about O’Reilly’s departure, namely whether or not he will return to his show to say goodbye to his loyal viewers. Negotiations are also apparently ongoing over how much money he will receive given that he only recently signed a $20 million multiyear contract. There is also the question of who will replace O’Reilly and what the financial hit to Fox News will be once their most popular host leaves the network. According to the Times, his show generated more than $446 million in advertising revenues between 2014 and 2016. For now, Tucker Carlson will take O'Reilly's timeslot.

For the victims of O’Reilly’s harassment, this is a victory. “This is what happens when women speak our truth: we can slay dragons,” attorney Lisa Bloom said in a statement. “I am very proud to have stood with my brave clients who stood up for themselves and all the silenced women.”

Kimmy Goes to College in This 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' Season 3 Trailer

It's a miracle! Our favorite doomsday-cult captive turned New Yorker will be headed to college in Season 3 of the Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and we couldn't be more excited for its release on May 19.

The trailer for the new season begins with Kimmy discussing with Lillian what she should do now that she has her GED, to which Lillian responds, "After high school most white girls go to college." Oh, Lillian, how we've missed you.

And that's not all. In addition to Kimmy going to college, it looks like we're also in for some divorce drama with The Reverend, relationship probs between Lillian and BF Robert Durst, and some Lemonade-ing from our beloved and oh-so-sassy Titus (you have got to check out the hilarious Bey reference). Oh, and sexual consent forms? College will certainly be a wild ride for Kimmy.

Check out the trailer below, and remember: "Thumbs are for hitchhiking and being Fonzie." Noted!

A New Study Suggests College Students Learn Better Later in the Day

A new study published in the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience suggests that college students learn better when their classes start later. The study, a joint effort between Mariah Evans and Jonathan Kelley at the University of Nevada, Reno, and Paul Kelley at The Open University in the United Kingdom, combined survey questions with a neuroscience-based theoretical model that analyzed the relationship between sleep and cognitive functioning.

Evans, a professor of sociology, found herself wondering why the students in her morning classes were so likely to fall asleep. And she realized that, while there has been extensive research done on optimal class times for middle and high school students, there was no similar work for college students. "There has been evidence over time from specific studies indicating that teenagers' body clocks are set at a different time than older folks," she told NPR. "Medical research suggests that this goes on well into your 20s, so we decided to look at college students."

The study concluded that students are typically divided up into two “chronotypes”—what we could call “early birds” and “night owls.” “Night owls” far outnumber the “early birds” and, for them, 8 a.m. classes are a struggle. "It has nothing to do with laziness. It's not in their control. It's to do with their bodies," Kelley told NPR. "It's like making an adult wake up at 5 a.m. every single day. It is just not a good idea." This is particularly true for first- and second-year students whose body clocks are even more like those of high school students. Students are more likely to do better in classes that begin at 10 or 11 a.m.

While similar studies about high school students have yet to result in later school start times, Evans hopes that students will at least be able to use the information to make smarter choices when it comes to signing up for classes. And hopefully, institutions will come around to making more afternoon classes available. “Traditionally, institutions have tried to tailor the humans to the organization,” the study says, “but research suggests that, at least as far as time is concerned, it is more efficient, productive, and humane to align the organization's schedules to the natural time patterns of the humans who study and work in them.” Wouldn’t that be nice?

Therapy Dogs Helped the '13 Reasons Why' Cast Cope with Filming Tough Scenes

13 Reasons Why has been a hot topic since it was released on Netflix a couple weeks ago. The show isn't exactly light, which understandably made the atmosphere on set pretty heavy. But the cast had something to cheer them up during filming. What was it? Puppies, of course!

The cast was treated to some canine friends on days when they were filming more difficult scenes. "They had therapy dogs on set," Dylan Minnette explained. "There was a puppy per hour. They really tried to help out. The puppies helped."

The actors understood the importance and impact of the project they were working on but also knew how important taking care of themselves and their emotional well-being was. Katherine Langford told E! News that she coped with portraying Hannah by playing the piano on set whenever she got the chance. Minnette also stayed positive by visiting his home in Los Angeles whenever he had a break from filming.

13 Reasons Why is heavy enough for us watching it; we can just imagine how tough it must have been to become these characters. We're glad the puppies helped, but let's be honest—puppies improve *every* situation.

If you've never purchased NYX Cosmetics before, you should in the near future—because it's about to get a whole lot easier. The makeup brand has gained popularity for offering some sweet products at even sweeter prices (i.e. super affordable), but not every product is always available in other stores like Target or Ulta. Now, NYX will offer more than 600 products in over 2,000 Walgreens stores around the country!

As if that wasn't awesome enough, Walgreens will also start offering testers for select products, including NYX, Lauren Brindley, the group vice-president and general merchandise manager, told WWD.

This means that the next time you pop into a Walgreens for some tampons or allergy medicine, you can now spend hours, and your entire paycheck, testing and purchasing all your favorite NYX products, like the Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick and the Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator. Seriously, it's going to be dangerous.

If the awesome product selection or low prices isn't enough for you, you may be happy to know that all NYX Cosmetics products are cruelty-free, so you can enjoy looking fly as hell without hurting any animals.

Unfortunately, NYX won't hit Walgreens until this fall, but in the meantime, you can still check the brand out at Target, Ulta, and nyxcosmetics.com while you wait not-so-patiently.

How to Write a Networking Email That Works

$
0
0

The age old saying, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know,” does bear more truth than you may think. But how do you get to know people? And how do you make sure that your newest connection isn’t just another dead end? Tom Dezell, career advisor and author of “Networking for the Novice, Nervous, or Naïve Job Seeker”, and Danny Rubin, author of "Wait, How Do I Write This Email?", weigh in on what you’re probably doing wrong and what you should be doing instead to make your networking emails a success.

Get specific

You need to know what you want to get out of making this connection before writing anything down. Are you looking for a mentor? Do you simply admire this person professionally and want to get to know them? Put yourself in his or her shoes, what would make you open a random email from a stranger? That’s what he or she thinks when they see an email titled “networking” or “connect.” Dezell notes that you want to establish a connection the other person, thus giving them a reason to read your email. “On an email, the subject line is very important in determining whether it’s read or not,” he says. “If a friend or colleague referred you, or you’re a fellow alum or share another common professional group, mention this.” Don’t wait until the body of your email to try and make a connection. Start with the subject to get the reader more interested.

Show your passion

To make a connection with someone you need to show your interest in the person and company. Specifically, you need to be able to say what about this company or person interests you. Research the company and learn about their new projects and office culture to establish some interesting talking points. Dezell suggests showing in your email what projects attracted you to the company and how it connects to your career. “Employers will see many people looking for an internship or entry-level job and know that the more engaged worker will be one who knows more particulars about why the work helps them as well as the company,” he says. Don’t let your email be a fan letter. Let it be a representation of your passion for the company and the work they do.

Know that this isn't a job application

A common mistake that people make is making their email all about needing a job or internship. Appearing desperate can turn off your prospective connection. Keep this in mind when writing your email and when sending it. Dezell notes not to wait for an open job to be posted before reaching out. “If you have a particular company of interest, reach out to an individual there in position to help or hire you and ask to meet before any openings are announced,” he says. A good first impression goes a long way and if you’re successful that means you now have a supporter in the company.

A thought-out compliment goes a long way

The content of your email should be balanced and, as mentioned earlier, not a fan letter. With that being said, however, a well thought out compliment goes a long way. Rubin knows that you must "give before you get." Meaning you need to devote time to earning someones respect and trust via email. "It's not enough to write, 'Looks like your doing great stuff with your career!'," he says. "That's empty rhetoric because you could use the line but never do any research." You have to prove that you made the time to learn about someone elses career. This shows that your interest is authentic and will give the person a tiny ego boost. Rubin says, "even the busiest people will stop in their tracks when someone asks for their knowledge or instruction." Which leads to another important point.

Ask smart questions

This seems like a no-brainer, but you really have to think before you type when it comes to asking questions. If you can find the answer to the question you're asking from a simple Google search, then you should re-think it. Rachel Petty, a senior at James Madison University, has found success with networking emails after asking strategic questions. "I've found that it's always good to ask questions," she says. "If you leave it open-ended, the person you're emailing will be more likely to reply!" Rubin agrees and mentions that this will make the other person feel valued. "Even the busiest people will stop in their tracks when someone asks for their knowledge or instruction," he says. Asking questions also gives the other person an opportunity to email you back. It's easier to ignore an email when there isn't anything specific to respond to.

Successful networking emails mean your newest connection isn't just another number on your LinkedIn account. To get to that point you must start with a killer email that will not only impresses the reader, but also compliment them, show your personality and give the other person an opportunity to start a dialogue. Networking emails won't be so daunting after practice, patience, and some thoughtful editing.

14 Reasons Why You Should Date the Passionate Girl

$
0
0

The passionate girl believes she was placed on this planet to balance what she loves the most. She wants to be more intimate with everything that drives her purpose in this life, including her S.O.

So if you are lucky enough to encounter the passion girl, here are 14 reasons why you should give her a shot and date her:

1. Yes, she does really like you

A S.O. and a passionate girl’s other infatuations are valued equally. The passionate girl has the upmost love for the things she does and likes. When it comes to relationships, she will give it her all or nothing. So if she is dating you, she is giving it her all because you are someone she is simply passionate about. Eventually one day, that passion she has for you, will be expressed into an unconditional love for you.

2. She will tell you that she really does like you

She will stretch out the high potential of her passions by confessing her feelings about you, to you. She will nourish your relationship, as she would with another outlet of her passion. Communicating how truly wonderful you are is her way developing a more passionate and deeper connection.

3. She really wants everyone to like you too

Painting a picture with words of the happiness her S.O. brings her isn’t a hard task to fulfill. Don’t be surprised if she talks about you as if she has a thesaurus glued to her hand 24/7. Her vocabulary is colorful and contains all kinds of positive synonyms.

4. She wants to know what makes you tick

She craves to uncover your passions, as well as her own. Instead of reading a book to learn more about something she likes, she will just read you. Instead of asking Siri a question, she will just ask you. She will never back down to discover, then love your own nooks and crannies.

5. She is confident

She will sway you with the security of her self-assurance. The devotion she dedicates to her passions makes her determined to be true herself. Perusing her passions make her believe in her individuality.

6. Her actions will speak louder than her words

She is all about doing. She knows it isn’t worth being passionate about someone or something if she cannot push herself to the limit. Her limit doesn’t end at texting 24/7, actually her limit barely starts at texting 24/7. Expect a whole lot of livin’ packed into in- person encounters, adventures and communication.

7. You will know what she likes

… Because geez, she will not be able to shush about it. She isn’t sorry either.

8. You will know what she doesn’t like

On the other hand, she will be able to shush about this. A passionate chick will not want to waste negative energy on her dislikes. A challenge for her is to maintain just only a mediocre opinion of a person, place or thing. She might seek to find a “happy medium," but deep down she knows it will never be found. Since it is a struggle for her to fake her intense feelings, the passionate girl either loves or utterly dislikes everything.

9. So yes, you will know how she unapologetically feels

When it comes to relationships, she will never lie to herself. She will refuse to waste time on pouring passion into a commitment that could crumble. Whether is it positive or negative, she values truth and honesty from herself and yourself. She will directly disclose is how she feels. Period.

10. She isn’t scared of the future

Her passions keep her intact and stable. In this life, she defines failure as only existing. She must be present. The future excites her because it is a place where her passions will grow and gain momentum—including your relationship with her!

11. She will take risks

She is bold. She didn’t satisfy cultivating the love she has for her passions without taking risks. People want a relationship where their S.O. will give 100%, but she will fearlessly give 110%. Her attention to your own details could plan plenty of pleasant surprises.

12. She is the queen of quirks

Not everything (or maybe everything) she loves will be mainstream. Her confidence stems from her known uniqueness. She might get the warm fuzzies from collecting blue china or streaming Star Wars. Finding and expressing bliss in outlets that most people cannot is something that will always manage to keep her happy.

13. She will show you off

Her social media accounts are just another representation of herself and her passions. So if she instas her dog and tweets about her mom, you better believe at the bare minimum she will at least Snapchat story you.

14. She is her own individual

She is her own individual, who dates you. To put this in the most simple terms, your relationship will never become so toxic and unhealthful that you two mesh into “one.” You are two individuals. Two individual people who just happen to truly like each other. She was happy with herself before she met you… which means she could also easily be as happy without you. Sorry for the harsh reality, but you can be ensured—you would never have bad blood with her if things come to an unfortunate end.

However if you marry her or not, seek out to date a passionate girl because you will grow as your own person. No matter the status between the two of you, use your current or past experience with her to elevate yourself. Appreciate that you learned about her favorite time era, or artist because it might have never fathomed her personal passions before. Realize that you learned about yourself through the security of herself. You might even discover that a hard–loving, passionate girl just isn’t your thing ultimately.

No matter how your relationship winds up, dating the passionate girl will always teach you to define and develop your passions in the present to create purpose in your future.

A Florida Lawmaker Who Used Racial Slurs Could Be Removed From Office

For Florida State Senator Frank Artiles, Wednesday's public apology for his major misstep was too little, too late—and for good reason.

On Monday, The Miami Heraldreported that Sen. Artiles used racial slurs and curse words in a private conversation with two female colleagues. Among multiple uses of the n-word in reference to black members of the Florida Senate, Sen. Artiles also called Sen. Audrey Gibson a “bitch.” (Not okay.) Wednesday morning, he took to the Florida State Senate floor to formally apologize for his derogatory comments. BTW, his speech was forced by other State Senators.

The New York Postreported that Sen. Artiles opened his apology by speaking directly to Sen. Gibson. “My comments to you were the most regretful of all, because they injured you personally. No one deserves to be treated like that.”

Sen. Gibson wasn’t there for his belated excuses after being insulted—according to The Miami Herald, she sat with her back turned to Sen. Artiles during the apology.

The “heartfelt” remarks came after an initial refusal to apologize to Sen. Gibson for insulting her and fellow Sen. Perry Thurston during a conversation at a members-only Governors Club in Tallahassee on Monday. Aside from his direct insults to these women, Sen. Artiles used racial slurs to describe the supporters of the Florida Senate President, Joe Negron. The Herald suggested that alcohol was involved in Sen. Artiles’ verbal tirade.

Despite his apology, Sen. Artiles could still be removed from his post as Senator in the Florida Senate. Shortly after Sen. Artiles’ three-minute, 45-second speech, Democratic Sen. Thurston filed a formal complaint to expel him on behalf of the legislative black caucus. In a formal letter to the committee responsible for handling Sen. Artiles’ punishment, Sen. Thurston wrote that “the shadow he has cast over our chamber deserves the most severe punishment available.”

While Artiles has told reporters he doesn’t plan to step down despite his major gaffe, we hope he’ll be adequately penalized for his crass comments. Discriminatory and racist language shouldn’t be tolerated at any level of government—or in any work environment, period.

Tinder Users Want Committed Relationships More Than Offline Daters, Tinder Survey Says

$

If you’re single AF and searching for a connection, you may want to reconsider Tinder. According to the newly released results of their "Modern Dating Myths" survey, Tinder users want a committed relationship more than people who date in more "traditional" circumstances—a.k.a, offline.

Tinder’s survey compares results from over 9,000 men and women dating in the United States. When it comes to commitment, 74 percent of the online daters had held a committed relationship as adults—whereas the same was true for only 49 percent of offline daters.

Aside from commitment, “Modern Dating Myths” topics included conversation, exclusivity, safety and sexting. In each case, the “reality” of each topic was far from what you’d expect. If you thought that Tinder dates never happen, 95 percent of Tinder users in the survey reported that they meet up within 2-7 days of matching. When it comes to those three little words, 5 percent more online daters said “I love you” within three months than their offline counterparts.

These survey results don’t line up with general assumptions about the app. Of the variety of dating apps available, Tinder has become almost synonymous with a casual hook-up. Swiping left or right based on a few photos and a short bio have led to accusations that it’s "superficial." A controversial 2015 article in Vanity Fair likened the rise of Tinder and similar apps to a “dating apocalypse.”

The fact that this survey was conducted by Tinder itself has caused some professionals to take the results with a grain of salt. In an interview with The New York Times, University of Massachusetts sociology professor Jennifer Lundquist speculated that the survey may be a move to improve Tinder’s hook-up reputation. Since the data comes from a small portion of daters, it may not accurately represent widespread dating trends held by Tinder users nationwide.

But the numbers Tinder provides in their survey paint a picture of an app where users find lasting commitment instead of a one-night stand (not that there’s anything wrong with casual hookups, if that’s your jam). Further, those five photos aren't all that's driving users' swipes: 96 percent of online daters consider education an important factor in choosing a partner. Tinder’s official sociologist, Dr. Jess Carbino, said in a statement to PR Newswire that “dating apps like Tinder have played such a significant role in connecting people for the long term. While hesitation to use Tinder might stem from negative preconceived notions, we've actually proven that singles will find just as much, if not more, success using dating apps than dating solely offline."

Additionally, a separate survey conducted by ABODO also names Tinder as a standout favorite among other online dating apps. According to ABODO, Tinder was used by 84.4 percent of surveyed college students—and only 5.6 percent of their respondents expected a hookup on the first date.

Whether you meet your bae online or offline doesn’t matter as much as what you like about them. But, if the data in “Modern Dating Myths” holds true, Tinder might be your best bet for meeting someone who’s down for more than one date.

A New Poll Says Support for Marijuana Legalization Is at an All-Time 'High'

More Americans now than ever before believe the use of marijuana should be legalized, according to the results of a CBS poll released at a particularly appropriate time.

Sixty-one percent of Americans think using marijuana should be legalized. This number is up five points from last year, when CBS did the same poll, and it’s the highest it’s ever been in the 38 years that the poll has been conducted. Even more people think the drug should be legalized for medical uses, with 88 percent in favor.

And it might be one of the only issues that politicians on both sides of the aisle can agree upon on any level. The poll found that 63 percent of Republicans think the government should keep its nose out of the states that have already legalized marijuana. Unsurprisingly, most Democrats and Independents think so, too.

The poll also found that most Americans think marijuana is generally safer than alcohol, and if the respondents had tried marijuana in the past, they found it even less dangerous as compared to other drugs.

According to the poll, roughly half of all Americans have tried marijuana at least once. The number of people who say they’ve tried it has risen pretty consistently with, if not faster than the number of people who support its legalization.

Happy 4/20, folks!

'Pitch Perfect 3' Is Probably the Last Time You'll See the Barden Bellas You Know & Love

Though Pitch Perfect 3 isn’t in theaters until December, we’ve all been anxiously waiting to see the film and get another taste of the Barden Bellas in all their glory. Along with the Instagram posts and behind-the-scenes looks we’ve received from the stars of the film, we just got scoop on the future of the Bellas from screenwriter Kay Cannon.

Oh, we didn't see you there. Bella's go back to basics. #pitchperfect3 @haileesteinfeld

A post shared by Brittany Snow (@brittsnowhuh) on

The news isn’t what you’d expect, so prepare yourself. “I think that people will cry,” Cannon told E! News. “I think it’s the end of the Bellas as we know them. If there’s a Pitch Perfect 4, it will be a new crop.”

Say whaaat?! It can’t be! No more Rebel Wilson or Anna Kendrick? That’d just be criminal.

Grab your tissues because not only do we know Fat Amy will no longer be around to make us laugh after PP3, but the cast also knew it was coming. “I think they just know,” Cannon continued. “I had the feeling when I visited set, it was like they were full of tears and like, ‘How much longer can we be singing a capella?’” At least it seems like they were as upset as we are.

We still have Pitch Perfect 3 to enjoy before we have to actually let go of the hilarious a capella group, so no need for goodbyes just yet. If Pitch Perfect 4 does happen, though, it better be aca-awesome. Just saying.

5 Signs A Company Is Supportive of Women

$

0

No one claims that finding a job is easy. What’s even more difficult? Finding a job that kick-starts your career with people you like and benefits that set you up for financial, physical and emotional well-being.

When you’re job searching, it’s critical to do your research ahead of time and decide what’s right for you. One way to know that you’ve found a potentially great place to work is by looking at how supportive that company is of women. Here’s our list of five key indicators (and a few red flags) that can hint at a positive and female-friendly environment.

1. Female role models

The first thing that can show whether or not a company is supportive of women is the presence of other, successful women. Are there women on the board, or in the C-suite? Do they exist beyond traditional “female” leadership roles like HR or Marketing?

Having women at the top matters because it shows they belong in leadership roles and positions of power. If your industry is one traditionally dominated by men, such as tech or finance, it makes even more of a difference. According to Harvard Business School, finding allies in your identity group allows you to explore and change current practices—giving you the confidence to make an impact.

If you’re trying to assess how women are treated at an organization, and there aren’t any women to ask, there might be a problem. “Generally, I ask pro-women questions during an interview, preferably to another woman,” says Charis Loveland, Sr. Program Manager at Microsoft Cortana Analytics Suite. If you don’t ask, you won’t know.

2. Support of women’s empowerment events and groups

Knowing your senior leadership has ties to important women’s associations can indicate whether or not they’ll be more supportive of your personal development. Alaina Leary, a graduate student at Emerson College, says, “I found out my boss and the owner had ties to the Women Business Owners Association in the area, so I knew she was supportive. Looking for that kind of thing, on a prospective employer’s website or on LinkedIn, can give you a sense.”

Does your company sponsor women-powered events or promote women’s leadership in groups or forums? Says Charis, who’s Massachusetts-based, “An awesome way to assess a company’s reputation with women is at women’s conferences. I generally attend The Massachusetts Conference for Women, the Simmons Leadership Conference and the Grace Hopper Conference. All of these are excellent venues to discuss work experiences with other women.”

Does your company of interest have smaller, female-centric groups within the company, like support groups, women's forums or informal women's groups? Being able to speak up about what’s bothering you to a group of people going through the same things can help change an existing culture or set the right tone in any office.

Great events happen everywhere. Is it acceptable and encouraged by your company of interest to find such events? Even better, do the men of that company attend such events or conferences? Money shows what companies value, and if they’re willing to put up the dough to send a significant amount of women to a conference devoted to working and talking through women’s issues, it’s a sign they care about that population of the workforce.

3. Women’s health benefits

Though you may balk at the idea of having a baby this early in your career, the presence of significant maternity (and paternity) leave lets you know whether or not it’s possible in the future, and can be a good litmus test of other women-friendly health policies.

The news can be a good place to start. The New York Times’ expose on Amazon’s culture—particularly related to how they treat women coming back from maternity leave—made headlines. Amazon has since revamped its policies, but it’s more important than ever to do some research and a quick Google search on your prospective employer, or reach out to your current HR representative. Other roundup lists, such as this one from Money Magazine, can give a great snapshot of the best policies in your industry.

If women repeatedly feel pressured or punished by taking time off from work to start a family, it may not be a good environment—whether or not you’re planning to do the same.

4. Equal pay for equal work

How women get penalized for equal work is a hot topic these days, and for good reason. Since it's common policy not to talk about salaries, you likely won't be able to figure out what your peers (both male and female) are making at a specific company; but it's a good idea to do your research on the industry and get an idea of how much you should expect to make in the position you're interested in, based on your past experience and the title you're aiming for.

There are a few hints you can look for; particularly how executives and leadership talk about gender parity (if they talk about it at all). Some companies, like Salesforce, have taken a public stance on the issue, paying nearly $3 billion to close their pay gap. While this may start a trend of disclosing gender gap as part of earnings, it’s fairly hush-hush for the most part.

You can also look for gender parity on rating sites like Glassdoor, which can give you a bit of insight not only into the company culture via reviews but also potential salaries, interview questions, and more—incredibly useful for someone on the job hunt!

5. Do they value you?

Being valued as an employee matters, whether you’re a woman or not. When you’re interviewing, are they listening to what you have to say? If a prospective employer doesn’t take you seriously in an interview, there’s no way they’ll listen to what you have to say in the day-to-day environment. Alaina says, “I turned down a job offer in 2015 because I could tell the company wasn’t supportive of women—the interviewers literally laughed at one of my suggestions and put me down with a snide comment. I was shocked when they even sent me an offer.”

This type of behavior is unacceptable no matter your gender.

“In general, being taken seriously, being valued, and not being asked sexist questions or treated in a sexist way [during the interview] are all good signs,” says Alaina. “Every interviewer [at my current company] valued my skill set, ideas, and opinions—they took me and what I had to say seriously.”

If a company isn’t supportive of its employees in general, chances are they aren’t supportive of women either. Making sure that a potential company (or your current one) values your contributions will make a difference not just for your career, but for your happiness too.

Trump Is Trying to Repeal Obamacare (Again) Before His 100-Day Mark

With President Donald Trump’s 100th day in office approaching next week, CNN reports that the White House may attempt to repeal and replace Obamacare before this significant mark rolls around. After the House Republicans’ failed efforts to repeal Obamacare back in March, officials appear to have mixed views as to whether or not progress will be made this time.

“I don’t think it’s having to rewrite the bill,” a senior administration official told CNN. “It’s just a total trust gap. As soon as we solve that, we can have a vote.”

Both Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are optimistic about achieving a repeal as well. In an interview with WTMJ, Trump revealed that he still had faith in Speaker Paul Ryan’s ability to finalize their ideal healthcare plan, saying, “I think we are going to have a big win soon because we are going to have healthcare [and] I believe that’s going to happen...the plan is getting better, better all the time.” Hmm, sounds totally believable, right?

While our top leaders may be hopeful about change arriving soon, other White House sources aren’t so sure about passing new healthcare reforms, citing the quick timeline as a reason for concern. “We need to manage expectations,” another GOP source told CNN. “We’ve learned a lesson on arbitrary deadlines.”

Although passing healthcare might be on the top of some officials’ to-do lists, there’s also the threat of a government shutdown if funding isn’t resolved by April 28, when most federal government funding runs out. Debates over elements of healthcare such as essential health benefits and community rating have also prevented final decisions from solidifying.

In the end, it seems like repealing Obamacare before Trump’s 100-day mark might be wishful thinking on the president's part, but with this administration, I think we’ve learned a lesson about expecting the unexpected.

This Drake Fan Reportedly Broke Into His House & Stole Drinks

How far would you go for a drink? Well, if you were this particular Drake fan, you’d go as far as breaking into the rapper’s house.

Maybe you wouldn’t go that far, but this girl totally did. According to HelloGiggles, a 24-year-old woman was reportedly facing robbery charges after she was found in Drake’s L.A. home drinking his beverages.

Thankfully no harm was done to our dearest Drake—he wasn't even home. But still, WTF? You can't make this stuff up.

According to the Toronto Sun, someone who actually knows Drake found the young woman in a bedroom at 10:30 p.m. wearing one of his hoodies and saying she was allowed inside. The fan reportedly helped herself to Pepsi, Sprite and Fiji Water while waiting for Drake to come home.

Though reports say there was no sign of forced entry, the woman was still arrested and was set to be charged with felony burglary. TMZ reported Thursday that Drake did not want the woman to be prosecuted for the crime, so it's unlikely the case will move forward.

Hmm, breaking into Drake's house to drink sodas might not have been the worst idea after all.

Best News Ever: A 'Life-Size' Sequel with Tyra Banks Is Officially Happening

It’s official! Tyra Banks will return as Eve in the long-awaited Life-Size sequel. This momentous occasion has been 17 years in the making. 17 years?! That’s literally our entire lives minus the years we’ve spent in college. We’ve certainly aged a lot, but Tyra hasn’t.

Although we may be trying (and probably failing) to be functioning adults, it was almost impossible to hide our excitement after Tyra tweeted about the bombshell news Wednesday. Life-Size 2 will give us a chance to pretend we're kids again, which we're always up for.

While there’s no word about Lindsay Lohan's involvement, Banks assured Variety the show couldn't go on without TyTy. “There is no one else that can play Eve but me…I’m just joking with you, but yes, I am going to be Eve.”

Now before we get too excited, there’s a catch: The sequel's premiere date is set for Dec. 2018 on Freeform. That’s more than 18 months away, but when you've waited YEARS, what’s a few more months, right?

Emphasizing the original film’s success, Tyra added, “I’m really excited about it. I think Life-Size is so popular that it can be a feature film because it has such a cult following, so I’m really interested to see what the ratings are going to do for that. I think it’s going to be a blockbuster on TV.”

In the meantime, there’s an entire younger generation that needs converting before the sequel's premiere.
