Northwestern University Is Investigating Possible Sexual Assaults & Druggings at 2 Fraternities

Northwestern University is investigating anonymous reports of alleged sexual assaults at two fraternity houses in the last few weeks, according to the Chicago Tribune. And the school has taken a stronger approach than most, alerting students to possible danger on Monday even without much information about the alleged crimes.

Administrators were told that as many as four female students were given a date rape drug on Jan. 21 at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house. Two of these women believe they were sexually assaulted, The Daily Northwestern reports. This allegation was made last Thursday, and another anonymous report of sexual assault and a possible date-rape drug at another fraternity house at Northwestern was made the next day. Neither of the reports were made by the alleged victims, so the school doesn't know which students may have been affected by this.

The Sexual Harassment Prevention Office is investigating the reports, according to The Daily Northwestern.

The university is taking a proactive approach that shows how seriously it takes sexual assault allegations. "Northwestern University condemns any such conduct in the strongest possible terms and expeditiously is investigating these charges," Patricia Telles-Irvin, Northwestern University’s vice president for student affairs, told the Chicago Tribune. "They go against Northwestern values and constitute grossly unacceptable behavior. The university is fully prepared to take appropriate action promptly."

Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s national organization is also not taking this lightly. "Any form of assault or sexual misconduct by anyone, brother or not, college man or not, is completely unacceptable, and we do not tolerate actions that are inconsistent with our mission," SAE's national spokesman Brandon Weghorst told CNN. Northwestern's chapter of SAE has promised to cooperate with the investigation.

Meanwhile, Northwestern's Associated Student Government executive board posted a statement on Facebook saying they are "appalled and outraged" by the reports. They called for the two reported fraternities to be suspended pending an investigation, and said any students found responsible for assault should be expelled.

"ASG will not let this situation—and all cases of sexual assault at Northwestern—be glossed over, excused, or gradually forgotten," they wrote. "We believe in and unequivocally support survivors of sexual assault, and will fight continually to create a rape-free campus environment."

Lady Gaga Shut Down the People Who Shamed Her Super Bowl Body in the Most Polite Way Possible

Although body positivity has been making major leaps within the past year, we unfortunately must prepare for the body-shaming trolls still out there behind their keyboards. While Lady Gaga absolutely rocked the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show, the internet buzzed with some unfortunate comments about the singer's body.

Specifically, people poked fun at her stomach, which made an appearance after her impressive costume change during the show. Luckily, Lady Gaga is never afraid to share her thoughts on important matters such as body image, so she took to social media to make her own statement

In an Instagram post, Gaga captioned a photo of her performance with a powerful message about our bodies and being ourselves. Not only does Gaga teach us to be proud of our bodies, but she also wants us to know that we "don't need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed." Say it again for the people in the back!

"I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I'm proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too. No matter who you are or what you do," Gaga writes. "I could give you a million reasons why you don't need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. Be you, and be relentlessly you. That's the stuff of champions. thank you so much everyone for supporting me."

Personally, we think Gaga looked absolutely stunning and confident up there on stage. Thank you for sharing such an important message and shutting down all the haters in the best way possible!

Nicki Minaj Just Broke a Major Record & Shaded Taylor Swift in the Process

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Nicki Minaj revealed great news—and threw major shade at Taylor Swift in the process. Minaj, with 71 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 list, now has the second most appearances on the list for a female artist. She narrowly slid past Swift, who maintains a solid third place with 70 songs.

“Oh hey, Taylor,” she wrote in the caption. “Taylor & I were tied but thanks to u guys, #RunUp debuted on the Hot 100 this week so I was able to inch past her a bit. Did u know she's a sag like ya girl? Her, Britney, Christina Aguilera... yup love them all.”

Hilarious. Better write that new album soon, Taylor.

Despite the drama, there’s still another woman who maintains the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100—albeit not for long. As of now, Aretha Franklin holds the record for 73 songs. But she knows a thing or two about throwing shade herself.

Bernie Sanders Served as a Muse for This Runway Show

It seems like nowadays, the runway can be inspired by just about anything. From Bill Nye, to condoms, to McDonalds, everything has a place in the fashion community—even Bernie Sanders. Whether you supported the Senator or not this past election season, I think it's safe to assume that no one was looking to the former Democratic candidate for style inspiration. That is, of course, until French luxury brand Balenciaga made him its fashion muse for a 2017 Paris Fashion Week runway show.

Bernie's famous campaign logo has been altered ever so slightly, and the word “Balenciaga” has replaced “Bernie.” I had to do a double-take at the t-shirts to realize that they are in fact high-fashion, rather than actual campaign shirts.

CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Sanders what he thought of the whole ordeal, and his new status as a fashion icon.

The Senator responded tactfully, saying “Of my many attributes, being a great dresser is not one of them.” We have to say: don’t put yourself down, Bernie, you’ve had some great fashion moments, like that one time you posed coyly for The New Yorker:

Or that time you dressed up, and were all ready to be your own prom date:

Only the fashionable can rock hair like this:

Let;s just say, after 75 years, Bernie's got the classic look down to a fine art.

Mandy Moore's Parents Have a Problem with Her 'This Is Us' Character

It’s nice to know that parents are still parents, even when their daughter is a celebrity. After the latest episode of This Is Us, Mandy Moore’s parents weren’t too happy at how her character, Rebecca, handled her relationship drama.

Mom and Dad know how to keep it real. Thanks guys? #thisisus

A photo posted by Mandy Moore (@mandymooremm) on

In the episode, we see glimpses of problems in Rebecca and Jack's marriage amidst a flashback to their wedding. Despite the serious nature of the episode, it’s hard not to crack a smile at Mandy's parents’ passive-aggressive texts. We get those, too—all the time.

First, her mother points out, "Hopefully [Rebecca] is made to look better in future episodes." Then her dad chimes in, "You are so mean…after Jack was so sweet and romantic, you tell him about the tour…your timing was awful."

Thankfully, Moore doesn’t seem bothered. “Mom and dad know how to keep it real,” she wrote in her caption. “Thanks guys?” Appropriate response.

At least she hasn’t spoiled them on the plot—it’s throwing them for a loop as much as us. Good to know we’re not the only ones mad at Rebecca.

People Had ~Thoughts~ About This Shaming Ad for Benefit Cosmetics

0

The Makeup Addiction community on Reddit has been extremely upset over an ad for Benefit, which depicts a no-makeup look compared to one with a winged liner. The ad suggest that an eye with no makeup is considered "yuck," while adding eyeliner makes it "wow!"

People, even especially makeup addicts, are NOT down with this shaming, and the Reddit thread has been exploding with comments. Some users called out the company for implying that people (or women) are ugly without makeup. One user wrote, "It's not even a fully completed eye look? She just has liner on...not even mascara? Who knew black eye ink was the secret to unattainable beauty!? I can't believe Benefit cracked the code."

Others critiqued Benefit's obvious photoshopping of the "Wow!" side: "To be fair to Benefit, it's not just eyeliner, there's also a healthy dose of Photoshop. Check out her eyebrow, how did it magically get 3/4" longer while somehow maintaining the same arch?" someone chimed in.

Um okay, Benefit? Like I don't know if they were trying to be cute, but they really, really failed. To wear makeup or not is an individual choice and a pure question of self-confidence, not an invitation to be judged. Do better.

6 Low Maintenance Haircuts for the Chic, Lazy Girl

0
0

It’s a universal truth that all of us collegiettes are always looking for a way to sleep in longer and take less time to get ready in the morning. Unfortunately, figuring out what to do with our hair and then actually doing it can take up so much time! But we’re here to change that with some ideas for low maintenance haircuts that will allow you to sleep in longer and worry less about how to style your hair once you actually do get up. They’re chic af, too, so in the words or Hannah Montana, you really can have “the best of both worlds.”

1. The Lob

This is easily the top low-maintenance haircut of the moment. Celebs from Khloe Kardashian to JLaw have rocked this super easy cut. It’s the perfect cut if you want medium-length hair that air-dries into a messy-chic look or can be styled quickly with a straightener or a few loose curls from a curling iron. Caroline Pirozzolo, a junior at UNC Chapel Hill, says “I have a long bob and I love it. It’s extremely low maintenance, but also very feminine and chic, which I love. I have naturally wavy hair, and all I do in the morning is put a little bit of Bumble and Bumble’s BB Texture Crème in my hair, scrunch it to enhance my hair’s natural texture, and air dry. It’s great for girls with naturally wavy or voluminous hair because your waves won’t look out of control or poufy like they sometimes can when you have longer hair.”  Sounds like a lob could be the way to go, unless you want something with virtually zero maintenance, then you should go with…

2. Pixie cut

A pixie cut can be intimidating if you’ve never gone that short before, but it’s super low maintenance. Like pretty much no maintenance actually, Taylor Cunningham, a junior at the University of Missouri-Columbia says. It can be a little bit shocking at first, though. Taylor says that she "cried because it was a little shocking, but I really liked it at first and then wished it was shorter.” With a pixie, you can style it with some product or you can just roll out of bed and go. Once a month, or so, it’ll probably need some trimming, but you won’t have to worry about how you’re going to style your hair anymore with this look. Its effortless-chic vibe is ideal for the lazy girl.

3. Long bangs

Bangs are an easy way to add a little something extra to your hair. But some bangs can require a lot of maintenance. Claire Biggerstaff, a sophomore at Davidson College says “In my experience, longer bangs are definitely less of a hassle. With short bangs, you have to worry about cowlicks, weird textures, and oh gosh, any kind of breeze messes them up!” Long bangs are way simpler to care for though because they don’t require trims as often. They’re also a great way to test drive bangs if you don’t want to jump right into full-on bangs. Claire says “Mine require zero maintenance, but if you’re trying to keep a certain shape or length, you’ll have to trim them every month or so. The nice thing about bangs is that you can easily learn to cut/shape them yourself. All in all, they’re very low-key and compliment a lot of hairstyles very well.” So what are you waiting for?

4. Swing bob

This haircut is not only fun to wear but super easy to manage. Sarah Abeyta, a hairstylist at Three C’s salon in St. Louis, recommends it because “it is flattering on almost everyone and [is] easy-to-style.” A swing bob can also be short or medium-length, depending on what you want, so it’s versatile and pretty. What more could you want?

5. Peek-a-boo colored bob

For the girl who wants something a little extra, a bob or lob with a hidden color (or colors) underneath is a fun and easy way to rock a trend. The bob or lob haircut will keep your hair at a low-maintenance length, while the color will give you major #hairgoals without having to do any extra work in your day-to-day styling. Abeyta says to keep the color intact will require recoloring it every four to six weeks, but she says “The good news is [the colors] usually fade pretty.”

6. Undercut

If you want something edgy that’s not going to require high-maintenance styling every day, then the undercut is definitely for you. It works on pretty much any hair length and can take even the most low-key ponytail or bun to the next level by literally just being there. The only maintenance on it is going to be trimming it if you want to keep it for a while. Otherwise, you can just let it grow out and not even worry about it!

Hair should be something that you can feel good about, not something you feel burdened by, so don’t let it! Now’s the time to switch it up and go for a no-stress, more rest haircut that will have you feeling relaxed and confident.

15 Signs You & Your Mom Are Basically the Same Person

0
0

It usually takes going away to college and living separately from your mom to really appreciate just how amazing she is. Not having our moms show up for us at a moment’s notice anymore totally makes us miss their advice, their hugs and obviously their cooking because nobody can make dinner like Mom does.

If there’s anything else that living on our own teaches us, it’s that we all inevitably become our mothers someday. These 15 moments are huge signs that you are basically the exact same person as your dear ol' mom.

1. You figure out that your mom’s cleanliness has rubbed off on you

Suddenly you’re screaming at your housemates for leaving dirty dishes in the sink because Mom’s kitchen was always spotless.

2. You ask your friends to text you when they get home safely

How are you supposed to get a good night’s sleep otherwise?!

3. You and your mom buy the same shirt without consulting each other

Just don’t wear it at the same time.

4. You’re both painstakingly early (or embarrassingly late) for events

You and Mom obviously have the same internal clock.

5. You and your mom find the same celebrities attractive

What’s weirder, being a 20-something and crushing on the 36-year-old Bachelor or being over 50 and crushing on the Bachelor?

6. You unintentionally style your hair the same way

Your mom rocks so much more than the typical “mom ‘do.”

7. As you get older, you realize that you make friends with the same kind of people your mom does

She taught you to find people who know how to treat you right.

8. The two of you use the same corny sayings in everyday conversation

Fess up, you totally taught her the meaning of “lit.”

9. One of you starts watching a Netflix series and the other one starts too

I mean, now you have someone to gab about Stranger Things with.

10. You share a downright annoying pet peeve

You text each other in fury whenever you see a dog dressed as a human.

11. You and Mom appreciate the same kind of cocktail or other alcoholic drink

Good taste in liquor runs in the family.

12. You learned everything you know about organization (or lack thereof) from her

She showed you how to color code, and you taught her how to use organization apps.

13. You can get into pretty intense arguments because you’re so similar

You definitely know how to push each other’s buttons.

14. If you answer her phone, her friends think you sound like her

Genetics, man.

15. You don’t deny that the two of you are the same because there’s no one else you’d rather be like

Moms are just the best.

The 3 Stages of Sex That All Shy Girls Dread (& How to Deal)

0
0

If you’re a hesitant, nervous person, the thought of having to undress and be sexy in front of another person can be downright terrifying. The pressure is most definitely on. Not only is there pressure to pleasure someone else, but the pressure of looking good and being good can be daunting as hell. Whether you’re nervous about looking silly in bed, or you’re afraid of rejection, we hear you. If you relate to these stages below, continue reading to learn how to overcome these insecurities, and gain control of your sex life.

1. The Initiation

While things seem to be heating up, you can’t help but be nervous in wondering if your partner wants to take things to the next level. Should you make the first move? Should they? Or are they not ready? Are you even ready? Your hesitancy could also be taken as a sign that you don’t want to have sex, or you’re unsure of being with that person at all. In these moments, you wish you could just know what you want and take action, and we’re sure your partner would too.

“It’s so hard to tell whether someone wants you to make the first move or not,” says Sarah*, a freshman at Lehigh University. You don’t want them to judge you for whether or not you’re ready.”

Related: What Does Sex on the First Date Really Mean

The first step to overcoming this shyness is to be with someone you are comfortable with. If someone is pressuring you into doing something you do not want to do, then this is not the right person to be sleeping with. This person should also be willing to hear your concerns about your sex life so that you can both move on without the nervousness.

Try to remind yourself that there is a reason you have made it this far with this person. If you are in the position of deciding whether or not you want to sleep with someone, your partner is making that same decision as well. It’s scary for both parties! If you do need some reassurance, however, verbally ask them if they want to have sex! It’s not as scary as it seems and if your partner is as into you as you are to them; they will be happy you spoke up.

2. The Pressure to Pleasure/Be Pleasured

Eventually, your body language says what you truly want. However, you can’t help those intrusive thoughts. Your nerves are on edge. Are they enjoying themselves? Are you enjoying yourself? Are you allowed to ask to mix things up and change positions? You’re too nervous for their response, and as a result, you rarely speak up. You may even be afraid to express yourself, and as a result, you’re focused more on your insecurities than the naked person in front of you. Marty Klein, a sex therapist and author of Sexual Intelligence, says, “Sex isn’t about what bodies do – it’s about how people feel. So do sexual things that will make you feel the way you want to feel – close, graceful, naughty, or safe – not what you think 'real sex' or 'normal sex' or 'cool sex' involves."

Communication does not need to stop once the sex begins. Meaning, you’re allowed to speak up and ask for something in bed. Sex is a two-person activity that should result in both parties giving and receiving. You are not a selfish or bad person for wanting to feel good. Do not be shamed by your sexuality. Pro tip: You can definitely tell what kind of person your partner is by their response to your sexual requests.

And if you’re unsure of what you want in bed, tell your partner this as well. It’s okay to take things slow to ultimately understand what feels good and what doesn’t. You and your partner can explore together. Sometimes because of someone’s cultural background or societal expectations, they feel ashamed to talk about sex openly. Understand that sex does not come easily for everyone, and that is perfectly normal. The bedroom should be and remain a judgment free zone.

3. The Awkward Pillow Talk

If you haven’t slept with this person before, you could be nervous for the awkward encounters after the actual act. Whether or not this is a first-time hookup or a start of a relationship, shy people are always nervous of what is expected after sexy time. If this is just a hookup, you’re wondering if you/they can spend the night. All the logistics of the time you’ve spent together begin settling into your mind. “What did that hookup mean to them?” You start wondering if the sex was as good for them as it was for you. If anything, the aftermath of the intimate time can be the most challenging for shy girls who are not sure of where they stand with the other person.

Jessica*, a freshman at Lehigh University, says, “This part of hookups is my least favorite in college because it means something different depending on the guy. It’s hard to tell whether a guy genuinely likes you or just your body. Worrying definitely takes away from the experience.”

As far as enjoying your sexy time goes, a rule of thumb is to feel more and worry less. The more you limit intrusive thoughts and consider your sensations, the more you’ll enjoy yourself. Whether that means it’s an intimate act, a fun pleasurable time, or both, that is entirely up to you and your partner. The only way to definitely know what your partner is thinking is to — brace yourself — ask your partner. Without verbal communication, your guess is as good as mine as to what your sexy time means. After all, sex is what you make it. Good luck!

Sean Spicer Has Created the Second Made-Up Terror Attack of Trump’s Presidency

0
0

ABC News reports that President Donald Trump’s press secretary, Sean Spicer, referenced a terror attack in Atlanta three times on Jan. 29 and Jan. 30 while defending Trump’s travel ban for seven Muslim majority countries. That wouldn’t be a big deal—except that no terror attack has occurred in Atlanta since 1996, and that attack was committed by a white guy.

Spicer alluded to the made-up Atlanta attack in interviews with ABC and MSNBC, and also brought it up during a press briefing. He mentioned the attack along with the San Bernardino attack and the Boston Marathon bombing, both of which really happened. For example, in response to a reporter’s question about Trump’s travel ban, he said, “We're reviewing the entire process over this period of time to make sure that we do this right. But I don't think you have to look any further than the families of the Boston Marathon, in Atlanta, in San Bernardino to ask if we can go further."

But apparently this was just a slip of the tongue for Spicer—he told ABC in an email that he “clearly meant Orlando,” referring to the Pulse nightclub shooting that left 49 people dead in June of last year.

This Atlanta/Orlando mix-up is pretty similar to a recent incident with Trump’s adviser Kellyanne Conway, who referenced an imaginary “Bowling Green Massacre” several times while trying to defend the travel ban.

It’s a little alarming that Trump’s staff keeps accidentally ‘misspeaking’ and making up terrorist attacks—it almost makes you wonder if they actually know anything about terrorism and keeping our country safe.

This Libyan Student Was Finally Able to Return to College in the U.S. After Facing Trump's Travel Ban

Najwa Elyazg, a Libyan student at George Mason University, returned to classes Tuesday after more than a week of being stuck in limbo. Why? She was out of the country when Trump's travel ban went into effect. President Donald Trump’s executive order originally banned citizens of Libya, as well as Iraq, Syria, Iran, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen from entering the United States for 90 days.

After travelling to Tripoli for winter break, her entry visa to return to the United States was not approved—even though it had been in the past. Elyazg had to travel to London to apply for a visa there since the United States does not have an embassy in Libya. Nearly two weeks later, her visa was approved and she booked her flight back to the United States through Istanbul, Turkey. While en route to Turkey, Trump signed the order.

“I would be expecting this from Libya,” Elyazg told The Washington Post. “We had it in different ways through all my childhood. … But I did not expect this from the United States—the number one place in the world, very liberal, with freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom, freedom, freedom.”

She had to get off the plane and stay at a hotel in Turkey for a week, checking for news daily on whether she would be able to return to her classes. Her academic advisor at George Mason, the president of George Mason, the attorney general of Virginia and also a lawyer who volunteered to help Libyans affected by the ban were all trying to help Elyazg return to the United States.

On Friday, her lawyer told her that some people were able to enter, but when she tried booking the $3,800 flight, it was already sold out.

Then, her brother called her to tell her a federal judge temporarily blocked the ban, and she tried to get on the next available flight but had to buy her ticket at the airport directly. She was able to get on a plane, and after waiting anxiously for 45 minutes, it took off and she reached the Dulles International Airport.

She did not face extra screening upon return, and was warmly welcomed back by the security officer. When she saw protesters at the airport opposing the ban, “she had to blink away tears in her eyes," she told the Post. Even though she missed several days of classes, she was able to start the semester without a problem.

11 Signs You and Your BFF Know Too Much About Each Other

0
0

When it comes to you and your bestie, nothing comes in between! But sometimes, you two know just a little bit too much about each other.

1. You share a never-ending list of nicknames for people around campus

Whether it’s your crush or someone you don't like, you can still talk to your BFF about them even when they're right next to you.

2. You both have to try really hard to be cool around your crush

It’s obvious why you have to play it cool, but your best friend might burst into laughter or give it away somehow if they don’t actively keep their cool, too.

3. An entire conversation can consist of just a series of looks

Forget about having your own nonsensical language—you two don’t even need words to communicate half the time.

4. When someone else is telling a story they already told your best friend, you have to act like you haven’t heard it already

Yeah, of course you know everything about your bestie...and that includes a lot about your bestie’s other friends, too!

5. Shopping for your BFF is super easy

When it comes to most people, shopping for presents can be daunting even if you consider that person pretty close to you. But when you’re out looking for a present for your BFF, certain things just scream her name at you.

6. You’re not afraid to come to her with the embarrassing stuff

But she'll never judge, so don't worry!

7. She can spot your type in a millisecond

If you didn’t notice your potential soulmate sitting across the room, your bestie definitely did!

8. When she starts talking about relationship problems, you can already tell which way it's headed

9. She knows when you’ve reached your limit

10. You trust her with all your weaknesses

She knows that insanely cute puppy pic she tagged you in is about to make you bawl.

11. You've got backup plans for what to say when someone comes close to figuring out one of your secrets

You have to be on the same page for your story to be believable!

Reese Witherspoon's New TV Show 'Big Little Lies' Will Be Your Next Obsession

0
0

I may be biased, but I have an unhealthy obsession with Reese Witherspoon. Could she be any more perfect??? The woman can play anything—from comedy in Legally Blonde to self-discovery in Wild, not to mention her award-winning performance in Walk the Line, she has proven her acting chops time and time again. Not only that, but the multi-talented star is also a producer and entrepreneur, having started the wonderfully Southern label Draper James (when I grow up, I will own every single item). But until this year, although she had made cameos in shows like Friends and The Simpsons, Reese had yet to land a leading role in television. That's where the new HBO show Big Little Lies comes in. The seven-episode series, which Reese co-produced, premieres February 19, and is guaranteed to be an instant hit. I was lucky enough to attend the premiere (with full cast and crew, guys, I'm crying just thinking about it), and these are some reasons why I think you're going to love it.

1. The cast is pitch-perfect

Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz, Adam Scott, Alexander Skarsgård and Laura Dern all share screen time with Reese, for what promises to be a splashy show. See ya at the Emmys.

2. The team is tried-and-true

Big Little Lies was directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, who also brought us Wild, and both the show and the movie star Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern. If it ain't broke... On another level, the team's film experience lends the show a depth that's not often seen in television.

3. It's basically a mashup of all your favorite shows

The best way I can describe BLL is "Desperate Housewives meets Pretty Little Liars meets The OC meets Real Housewives meets CSI." That may be reductive, but it should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect.

4. It's smart, dark and funny

Re: depth. Despite all the usual backstabbing and drama you can only expect from this kind of show, Big Little Lies doesn't revolve around a simplistic notion of good vs. evil. Witherspoon, Kidman, Woodley and Dern's characters are all explored in the pilot, and all become relatable despite their obvious flaws. Neither Kravitz nor the male characters are particularly developed in the first episode, so that will be something I look out for in the next six. I especially hope Zoë's character takes on a much more significant role, because I'm definitely not on board with the denigration of the only black character (no more instutionalized racism, Hollywood, thank you). Skarsgård's character will be a lot more difficult to redeem, however, because he flirts with domestic abuse in the pilot. Despite all this, the show is incisive and full of dark, self-aware humor. I loved it.

5. It will have you hanging on the edge of your seat

I haven't gotten to the juicy part yet. The show's overarching thread is a mysterious murder, whose victim is not identified. The narrative is intertwined with witness interviews at the local police station, and is filled with mean gossip and judgmental observations. It's awesome. And now I really, really need to know what happened.

6. There are views for days

If nothing else, come for the panorama. Big Little Lies is set in scenic Monterey, California, and the houses will give you #goals for days. Like, you could probably mute it and still enjoy the show. Just saying.

Here's What Justin Chambers Thinks About a Meredith & Alex Romance on 'Grey's Anatomy'

After last Thursday's shocking plot twist revealed that (*spoiler alert*) Alex was NOT in jail and was instead sleeping in Meredith’s bed, Grey’s fans were left so freaking confused. The episode seriously left us on a cliffhanger—in more ways than one. We have SO many questions and thoughts. Why isn’t Alex in jail? Is he guilty? And with Alex and Jo over (at least for now), is there a chance for an Alex/Meredith romance?

Well, for all those shipping Meredith and Alex—sorry, your dreams may have been ruined. Their relationship appears to be more of a sibling type of love, not romantic, according to the actors who play Meredith and Alex.

Justin Chambers, who plays Alex, recently weighed in on what he thinks Alex feels for Mer. He told TVLine that while “anything is possible,” he sees them “as siblings that care very much for each other." He also added, “That happens in life, where people who are friends become lovers. Personally, I don’t see that [happening] right now. I think it would be kind of strange.”

And Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith, agrees. She told TVLine last April that she believes Meredith and Alex are better suited as siblings. “I think they’re too close… too much like brother and sister. I have super-close friends who I’m not romantically attracted to at all. So I think just because you’re so in love with someone in one way doesn’t mean it’s a romantic love. But they certainly do understand each other a lot,” said the actress.

Even Shonda Rhimes herself doesn't necessarily see the relationship as romantic. The show’s creator and executive producer told Entertainment Weekly in September, “If you talk to Ellen and Justin they’ll go, ‘Ew!’ because they’re like brother and sister. But I think it’s because those two actual people have 13 years of history together. They’re very, very much intertwined; they’re family. So it feels really easy like family, and there’s something beautiful about that.”

However, the showrunner did not shut down all possibility of a romance between Meredith and Alex. “I’ve learned to never say never at this point,” said Rhimes. So who knows? The show could go in an unexpected direction—so for those wanting a Meredith/Alex romance, there may still be hope. “This is Shonda’s show and whatever path she chooses to go down creatively, I’m with her,” Pompeo told TVLine.

Kellyanne Conway Potentially Violated Federal Ethics Laws by Telling Everyone to "Go Buy Ivanka's Stuff"

Kellyanne Conway once again found herself in the spotlight for questionable comments on Thursday, this time for potentially violating federal ethics laws.

While appearing on Fox & Friends on Thursday morning, Conway encouraged viewers to “Go buy Ivanka’s stuff,” referring to Ivanka Trump’s clothing line. The brand has been at the center of the latest controversy to hit the Trump administration ever since high-end retailers like Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus elected to stop selling Ivanka’s clothes, citing low sales, potentially driven by the #GrabYourWallet boycott. President Trump hit back, using the official @POTUS account to tweet that “My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by Nordstrom.” Trump’s comments were already raising some questions about conflicts of interest but Conway’s response on Fox’s morning show took things to a new level. “I’m going to give it a free commercial here,” Conway said of the brand. “Go buy it today.”

As The Cut reported, Conway’s comments appear to violate a law for federal employees that states that “An employee shall not use his public office for his own private gain, for the endorsement of any product, service or enterprise, or for the private gain of friends, relatives, or persons with whom the employee is affiliated in a nongovernmental capacity.” According to Press Secretary Sean Spicer, Conway was being “counselled” after the incident.

Condemnation was relatively swift. The Associated Press reported that Rep. Jason Chaffetz, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, called Conway’s words ““clearly over the line.” Don W. Fox, former general counsel and former acting director of the Office of Governmental Ethics, told The Washington Post that “Conway’s encouragement to buy Ivanka’s stuff would seem to be a clear violation of rules prohibiting misuse of public office for anyone’s private gain.” He went on to say that her words were “jaw-dropping.”

While the OGE can investigate the incident and make a recommendation about punishment for Conway’s ethics violation, enforcement of that punishment will be left to her employer, in this case, the White House. While she could theoretically face a multi-day suspension, loss of pay, or some other sort of disciplinary action, the Trump administration’s stance on conflicts of interests seems to suggest otherwise. “It’s time to move beyond the mind-set and the role of a businessman and assume the mantle of commander of chief,” author Peter Schweizer told The Washington Post. One can only hope.
