4 Ways to Calm Your Nerves Before You Have Sex For The First Time

0
0

Several of your life’s biggest moments have been your first time doing something – your first word, your first birthday, your first kiss, your first love, and of course, your first time having sex. There is such an emphasis on your first time having sex in society that it can be a nerve-wracking experience because of the anticipation. Overthinking can make an already stressful experience overwhelming. Whether it’s your first time having sex in life or your first time with someone new, here are four ways that you can feel less nervous when it comes to that climactic moment.

1. Don’t go in with (high) expectations

When you’re with someone for the first time, it’s impossible to foresee your sexual chemistry, what things you are comfortable doing and how to pleasure them. You may automatically connect with each other in the bedroom, but there’s also the possibility that you are not sexually compatible.

To overcome the nerves you may feel because you’re unsure of the situation, don’t go in with high expectations. Don’t expect it to be a bad experience, but at the same time, don’t automatically think things are going to be as perfect and romantic as the movies.

Kristy*, a senior at Georgia Institute of Technology, shares her advice. “You shouldn’t overthink how something will feel,” she says. “Don’t go in with the mindset that it will be uncomfortable, that it will hurt, or even that it will be the best experience on the planet. Sex won’t be great with everyone, but you very easily could have the greatest experience too.”

Even if it’s a spur-of-the-moment decision or something you’ve been planning on doing for a while, keep your mind open to the possibilities of what’s to come.

2. Openly communicate

It’s critical that you let your partner know where your head is at, even if you feel it may “kill” the moment. It’s much better to let your partner know what’s up rather than sit in silence and suffer from what may be a lackluster or even painful experience.

Just as much as you have the right to let your partner know you’re enjoying (or not) the experience, you have the right to say no as well. Saying no will feel freeing and let your partner know that you are in as in control of the experience as they are.

Anna*, a junior at Kennesaw State University, thinks that you’re more prone to regretting an experience if you don’t openly communicate. “For example, being with a guy who is way too aggressive can turn something fun and enjoyable into a nightmare that you want to be over with already,” she says. “If you want your partner to take it easy, don’t beat around the bush. ‘Hey, can we take it easy now?’ is one of my go-to phrases.’”

If you like something they’re doing, let them know. But also let it be known if you are not enjoying yourself, even for a millisecond. Conversations before, during and after sex can be just as important as the act itself.

3. Be present in the moment

Take a deep breath and focus on what is happening in the present. Don’t think about what you think you should do in the next couple of minutes. Listen to your body and do what naturally feels right to you.

Don’t think of the end goal of an orgasm, but rather think of how important every moment leading up to it can be, too.

Maria*, a junior at Northwestern University, believes that overthinking will just multiply the number of butterflies in your stomach. “I think that it’s important that you don't have sex with a time limit,” she says. “If you don't feel like you have to rush to finish something, you feel a lot less anxious. There's less pressure to make something great happen when there's no deadline.”

While it’s great to be future-oriented, don’t think of what’s going to come next during sex. Appreciate every moment in between.

4. Engage in foreplay

You should not immediately jump from a kiss to penetration. To allow yourself to become comfortable and develop rhythm with someone, you should engage in foreplay prior to the big moment.

Foreplay could include kissing, caressing, oral sex, biting and more. Once you conquer those events, your nerves should begin to subside and you will actually want the next step.

Stephanie*, a sophomore at the University of South Carolina, won’t have a clear mind until she develops a certain level of comfort and respect with her partner. “I usually get a little nervous and or self-conscious when I know sex is coming. But if I’m with someone who respects my wishes and desires and actively chooses to engage in things that pleasure me, it’s a complete relief.”

A big part of your experience will be who you choose to share it with. Based off of your interactions with foreplay, you should know whether or not this is a person who seeks to pleasure you or is only thinking about themself.
Remember, you should be the one actively choosing to share a very intimate moment with someone. You can say no at any time if the nerves become overbearing. If the thought of sex is making you physically ill or is mentally overbearing, know that you may not be ready. Remember there is no rush or deadline to meet. However, if you know that sex is something you want, your first time with anyone or with someone new can be an experience unlike anything you’ve been through before.

15 Quotes From This Week's Bachelor That Made Me SMDFH

0
0

My favorite part of The Bachelor: Whenever anyone talks on this show, it's to say something that's either totally nonsensical or so blindingly obvious as to not even be worth saying. Watching these people formulate thoughts is painful, but it's somehow also the whole reason we all watch. Below are 15 lines from Monday's show that had me laughing out loud, side-eyeing the TV, and most of all—Shaking. My. Damn. Head.

1. "I'm so relieved that these women are giving me a chance despite my dating past" - Nick

Nick...of COURSE they're giving you a chance. They literally filled out applications and auditioned for this chance. They came up with humiliating, soul-crushing 'pickup lines' for this chance. Don't act like you're surprised by that.

2. "Nick could wear a potato sack and he would look good."

I don't remember who said this, but I laughed at it. Because I don't think Nick would look good in a potato sack. I think he would look stupid, and you wouldn't even be able to see his abs.

3. "Nothing's more appropriate than taking wedding photos." - Nick

This also had me laughing hysterically, because that is the most UNTRUE STATEMENT EVER. It is absolutely NOT appropriate whatsoever to take wedding photos on a second date that's also with a group of like 10 women. It's bizarre and embarrassing, but of course that's what they're going for.

4. "She looks so cute in the topless outfit. She better not steal my thunder or I'll punch her in the face." - Corinne

Corinne was so upset that Brittany got to wear the Eve bikini that she was practically crying and on the verge of violence. I enjoyed this, because I hate Corinne and like to see her suffer.

5. "I'm starting to like you a lot, and it's really scary." - Taylor

Taylor said this to Nick during their wedding photo shoot, during which she played the "Princess." I loved the line because, again, they've spent about 10 minutes together so far and they're on a group date. I guess she's hedging things by saying she just "likes" him a lot, but how could her "like" have possibly reached scary levels after so little time?

6. "I was actually brave enough to have clothes, and take them off." - Corinne

This is Corinne asserting that she's braver than Brittany, because Brittany just wore the outfit that was given to her while Corinne took it upon herself to reach peak nakedness during her photoshoot. Yup, Corinne is definitely a Gryffindor after this epic display of courage.

7. "Orange and green green look great together, Danielle!"

One of the women said this to Danielle M. when she got her date card, I assume in order to sabotage Danielle's chances (jokingly) with poor fashion advice. The best part of this quote was the women's reaction to it—their fake, predatory laughter truly captured the spirit of Bachelor competition.

8. "It's very rude." - Corinne

Corinne thought it was rude when Taylor re-interrupted her to talk to Nick, after Corinne had already interrupted two women. This is hilarious for obvious reasons.

9. "I've noticed you do this thing where you get a thought and you just run with it for a while." - Taylor
"Yeah, I can do that." - Nick

I think this was Taylor observing that Nick is able to hold a conversation on the same topic for multiple sentences? And I absolutely love that this is a trait worth commenting on in Bachelor Nation.

10. "Xoxo gossip girl!" - Corinne

This quote really made me smdh because I had no idea why Corinne was saying it. Her saying this didn't follow any actual gossip, but just seemed to be filler during an extremely uncomfortable post-rose conversation with the other women (who, of course, hate her guts). She also followed it up with some weird dance moves or something? Corinne, get it together.

11. "How do you know the highways?" - Danielle M.
"I'm just making this up" - Nick

This may have been my favorite underrated moment of the whole episode. On their one-on-one date, Danielle and Nick rode in a helicopter, and Nick did a bit where he pretended to be a traffic reporter, saying there was "mild to moderate traffic" and an "accident on the eastbound 95." Danielle, of COURSE, wondered how he knew the highways so well when he had never been here before! Maybe she was just really nervous, but the idea that Danielle thought even for a second that Nick is some kind of transcontinental highway expert is amazing.

12. "It's either going to go well or it's going to be the most uncomfortable situation I've ever been in in my life." - Liz

Liz, summing up every moment of The Bachelor perfectly.

13. "This is a fun opportunity to see what you guys are like when you're a little bit fired up and feisty." - Nick

This was Nick's description of the second group date, which had the women act out breaking up with him in front of everyone else. I guess it's Nick-code for, "this is a weird and uncomfortable idea that the producers have forced upon us."

14. "I was not exactly expecting Liz to tell our entire dating story in front of the other five women." - Nick

Come on. YES YOU WERE. WE ALL WERE.

15. "Does she really want to pursue a relationship with me, or is she using our past relationship as an excuse to be on TV?" - Nick

Finally, more of Nick pretending that he doesn't know exactly how this show works. Is he REALLY confused about why Liz didn't dig up his number in the last nine months? This girl is thirsty as hell for that sweet, sweet Instagram money, and that's all there is to it.

25 Times This Week's Episode of 'The Bachelor' Challenged Us

0
0

Throughout this week’s episode of The Bachelor, everyone kept talking about how Nick wanted a woman who challenges him. But the only thing I could think about was what a challenge this entire episode was. Here are 25 times Nick and the women fighting for his attention heart challenged us this week:

1. When “renowned” photographer Franco gave us this truly inspired phrase, which was obviously a Hallmark card reject: “I know you from before time”

2. When Corinne took her top off and made Nick hold her bare breasts (her words, not mine)

3. When Corinne won the challenge and got the group date rose bc ~CHEMISTRY~

4. When Corinne kept interrupting Nick’s convos with every girl but got mad when Taylor re-interrupted her

5. When Corinne invoked the name of Gossip Girl and I literally gasped at the transgression

6. When I realized the entire first hour of the episode had been about Corinne

7. When Nick and Danielle M. flew to Newport Beach for their one-one-one and I realized this whole episode was sponsored by my teenage binge-watching habits

8. When Liz desperately looked for someone to spill the beans about her sexy time with Nick to

9. When she decided that person was Christen and Christen promised she’d never breathe a word of this top-secret info

10. When Christen breathed a word of that top-secret info

11. When Danielle M. told Nick about her fiancé’s overdose and he mansplained her grief to her

12. When Nick took the second group date to the Museum of Broken Relationships

13. And on display was the engagement ring he picked out for Kaitlyn

14. (Like one of the three engagement rings he’s chosen on this show would be in this clearly prestigious museum)

15. When the ladies had to act out breaking up with Nick

16. And Liz took it waaayyy too seriously

17. And the other women were confused by her “storyline”

18. When Christen told Nick everything Liz had confessed to her

19. And Nick got really mad

20. And suddenly wondered if Liz just wanted to be on TV

21. When Liz said she didn’t want Nick’s number bc she hates talking on the phone

22. When Nick sent Liz home

23. And then decided he had to tell the other women the truth

24. And just blurted out that he and Liz had sex

25. And CLIFFHANGER

What All Women Should Know About Taking Care of Cars

0
0

Let’s just be honest, cars are a lot of work to understand and maintain. We’re just happy to have one to get around, go on road trips or to escape to for peace and quiet. But we can’t do all of those things if we don’t take care of it like we should. Not to worry—get your pen and paper and prepare your checklist. Here's what you need to know about your car and what to do to take care of it.

Keeping the exterior and interior clean

Let’s start with the outside, because there’s nothing like knowing your car is freshly waxed and washed. Getting your car cleaned on a regular basis is just as important as keeping your bed and bathroom clean. You're probably in your car as much as you are in your bedroom, if not more. It's very easy to keep everything in your car to the point where you can't see your floor mats, but it's unsanitary and a hazard for robbery.

Make a budget for your car to get it washed and waxed at least once or twice a month, vacuum the inside regularly, and invest in Rain-X products for your windows. Getting in the habit of this will maintain the way your car looks, as well as keep up its resale value. Keeping the interior clean and decluttered is just as important as the exterior. “Don't have too much cluttering up your dash and hanging from your windshield mirror,” Andrew Harris, a senior at Texas A&M University, explains. “Sure it's cute, but don't let it get to where your collection of chains and decorations are blocking your visibility.”

Changing fluids and filters

This part of car maintenance is probably the most important section of taking care of your car: being aware of when to change different fluids and filters. You may have thought getting your oil changed was the main thing to be aware of, but unfortunately there's a lot more in your car that is just as important. Pepboys, a full-service and tire automotive aftermarket chain, has a great schedule of when to get something changed according to mileage. Make sure you are getting the right fluids put in your car, and know if your car can go to any service station or has to be taken to your car dealer. Your car should also have up to four filters: in-cabin air filter (which is in your glove box, who knew?), engine/oil filter, fuel and transmission filters. These should be changed to continue to keep particles from damaging important parts in your car. Malik, an auto repair specialist at National Tire & Battery (NTB) in Atlanta, GA, says, “You should change your filters every 12,000 miles, and the usual prices start at $16.00-$30.00.”

Tires and brakes

Along with getting a regular oil change, you should ask to get your tires rotated at the same time. Getting your tires rotated ensures even tire wear and helps to extend the life of your tires. Tire pressure goes hand in hand with rotation as well. Luckily cars have indicators to let you know when something is wrong. Whenever you see your tire pressure light come on, you should check the air pressure of all four tires immediately. Not checking it results in flat tires, blowouts, or the tires becoming so worn down that you'll end up buying new ones. “One tip I learned for checking if your tires have enough tread is to use a penny,” Reilly Tuccinard, a senior at University of South Carolina, says. “Flip it upside down so that the head of the penny is in the tread of the tire. If you can see all of Lincoln’s head then the tread of your tire is worn down and it’s probably time to replace it.”

Connected to your tires are your brakes. If you're a heavy-foot driver like myself, your brakes probably get worn down a lot faster. If you feel your car taking longer to stop, your brakes are getting lower and lower when pressed, or you hear the rotors being scraped against each other, it's time to get brand new brake pads. You should have them inspected between 25,000-50,000 miles, but if anything feels or sounds off take your car to get serviced ASAP. You don't want to put this off and have a car accident happen as a result.

Preparing for the weather

Depending on where you live and drive, you may or may not have to worry a lot about preparing your car for winter weather—especially snow. But in cases of really cold weather, keeping a winter supply box (along with a regular emergency box) in your trunk will come in handy for those emergencies when it decides to randomly snow, or an entire snow-pocalypse happens. You can also invest in winter windshield wiper fluid that won't freeze your windshield while driving. For the summer heat: parking in the shade, using window shades and opening the sunroof stops your car from getting too hot. Also, keep your engine’s temperature balanced by taking note of the cooling system.

Other tips to remember

There's so much to keep in mind when it comes to your car, but taking the time to become serious about maintaining it will make it easier to remember, and your car will definitely thank you for it. Along with the main sections above, there are a few more things to note on your list: check to see if there are any recalls on your car; save your maintenance receipts to keep up with budgets and how much it takes to service your car; keep your manuals, insurance and important information about your car in your glove box; remember important indicators on your dashboard to know when something is wrong and no reckless driving! “Have jumper cables on you in case you or a friend needs a jump. There are even portable battery car jumps out nowadays so you don't need a friend's car or a AAA subscription for a jump—you can do it yourself!,” Andrew says. If you have checked off all of these things and have kept up with your list on a regular, congrats! You're officially an amazing owner of a car.

Kim Kardashian's Robbery May Have Been an Inside Job

Who can you trust in this world if not the tried-and-true limo driver Kim Kardashian uses every time she's in Paris? Sources at Le Monde confirm that one of the 17 suspects arrested in connection to Kim’s Paris robbery is a chauffeur the family regularly uses when they visit the city.

Police have confirmed to E! News that the 27-year-old limo driver would have been the last person to see Kim K. before the robbery. He knew her whereabouts and that she was alone on the night of the incident.

Kim has been keeping a low profile since the traumatic event and has yet to give a statement on Monday's arrests. People reports Kim’s French attorney, Jean Veil, told FR2 that Kardashian is “very happy” and “very reassured” by the French police and their progress on the case.

In addition to arresting the five burglars who dressed as policemen to gain entry into Kim’s hotel room, Le Monde reports that the suspected ringleader of the crime, who is 72 years old, was also arrested.

We're sure more details will be pouring in as this investigation continues, but we wish Kim comfort during this stressful time.

Emma Watson stole our hearts as frizzy-haired brainiac Hermione. And now she’s waltzing into our hearts once more as fairytale favorite Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. So WHY Disney? Why did you commit such a terrible injustice to our dear Emma Watson and create this Belle doll that has everyone talking?

The jury is still out on who the doll most resembles. Many are likening it to Justin Bieber.

Others have really embraced the mismatched proportions of the doll's tiny hands to its head.

Some have taken the comparisons a bit too far.

Now you guys are just being cruel.

Perhaps we can grow to love the doll, despite its imperfections. Just like Belle does with the Beast. We see what you did there Disney.

At the White House, Christine Dickason is Helping FLOTUS Inspire Girls & Boys For a Lifetime

Name: Christine Dickason
Age: 23
Job Title and Description: Deputy Associate Director of Correspondence for the First Lady
College Name/Major: University of Mississippi, B.A. Public Policy Leadership
Instagram Handle: @christine_d11

Christine, left, in a meeting with First Lady Michelle Obama and her Junior Staff. (Official White House Photo by Amanda Lucidon)

What does your job in the First Lady's office entail? Is there such a thing as a typical day?

As Deputy Associate Director of Correspondence for the First Lady, it’s my job to ensure that every letter and email sent to the First Lady is read and that she responds to as many as possible. Thousands of people from across the country and around the world write the First Lady to share their own personal story. It's important that our office—a combined team of staff, interns, and volunteers—help the First Lady respond and share their stories even further. I also assist in drafting letters and messages that ultimately signed by the First Lady. No day is ever the same here. The First Lady's office is a small team, so I have been able to help with everything from staffing White House events like State Dinners and the Easter Roll to escorting talent and members of the media.

What is the best part of the job?

Every day, I have the privilege of reading letters from the American public and hearing their remarkable, diverse stories. Over the past eight years as First Lady, Mrs. Obama has touched individuals in every community through her initiatives—Let's Move!, Joining Forces, Reach Higher, and Let Girls Learn—and to see first-hand her impact through the letters and emails is inspiring. Whether it’s a drawing from a kindergartener in Tennessee or a handwritten letter from a WWII veteran in Iowa, these pieces of correspondence are incredibly powerful. And I also know that receiving a letter from the First Lady with your name at the top and her signature at the bottom can inspire a young girl or boy for a lifetime—it's why I take my job so seriously.

What was your first job or internship in your field, and how did it help you get to where you are now?

My first internship was during my sophomore year of college at the Center for American Progress. Interning in D.C. at such a young age taught me so many real-world lessons—from how to conduct myself in a professional office to how to use the Metro system. In that internship, I published over forty blog posts and had one of my articles featured in The Nation. That experience showed me the power of the written word to make change in the political sphere and deepened my passion for writing. Although it’s a different type of writing I do now, that first internship cemented my interest in progressive politics and increased my confidence in my own writing abilities.

What's one mistake you've made along the way and what did you learn from it?

Coming into the Office of the First Lady at 22 years old, I had what some folks call “imposter syndrome” during first few months on the job. I was so worried that I’d mess up that I oftentimes kept quiet even when I had ideas, or asked questions even when I knew I had the answer. I learned that I needed to trust myself and be confident. They’d seen something in me, and they had entrusted me with these responsibilities—so it was my turn to step up to the plate and take charge of my own role.

What has been the most surreal moment of your career thus far?

Because the First Lady’s office is such a small team, we often get the chance to offer our help with travel.  Over the summer, I was part of the Advance team for the First Family’s trip to Yosemite National Park.  There was a moment at the top of the Sentinel Dome when it all hit me.  I was somewhere I never dreamed I would be with people I never even thought I would meet, let alone work for. The whole experience really took my breath away.

What's next for you once you leave the White House?

I’ve fallen in love with Washington, D.C. and now proudly call it home. In just a few weeks, I’ll be starting my Master in Public Policy program at George Washington University. While I’m going to school this spring, I’ll also be working at the Government Accountability Office as a Student Analyst.

What advice would you give to a college woman with similar aspirations?

I think the most important thing for any young professional to be is adaptable and open to change. My plan for life after college was to go straight to graduate school—I was even enrolled in classes! But, thanks to some great mentors in my life, I decided that some time off from school was exactly what I needed. The White House was never part of my plan, but now, I can’t imagine not having worked here. It’s important to stay focused on your passions and goals, but also be open to the idea that the path to those goals is not necessarily straight or clear—and that’s a good thing!

What's your favorite piece of political pop culture, and why?

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. It’s the perfect combination of humor, satire, and in-depth analysis of real-world issues. John Oliver brings to light so many topics that seem mundane or irrelevant at first, but he draws you in with his wit, and suddenly, multilevel marketing companies or charter schools are the most interesting thing you’ve heard of all week.

Lauren Conrad Might Have Just Revealed What She's Naming Her Baby

Even though Lauren Conrad's recent pregnancy announcement was completely perfect, she didn't give us many details about her impending arrival. But she might have just told us what she's planning to name her little one.

In a post on her website, LaurenConrad.com, Team LC shares their top 10 baby name picks for 2017. Among the too-cute-for-words names are unique monikers like Sailor, River and Jasper and more traditional choices such as Hazel, Sienna, Jackson and Elle.

While the post doesn't call out which of the names is Lauren's fave, I happen to think Sailor Tell would make a mighty fine name. Before I start monogramming baby gifts, though, I guess I should wait for Conrad to spill the beans on her due date, the sex of the baby, etc. Until then, I'll just be pretending LC asked for my opinion in the first place.

With winter in full swing, it can be a struggle to find cute and affordable boots cozy enough to keep us warm through the cold-weather season. Even though UGG has established itself as the go-to brand for cozy winter boots, their hefty price tags can deter many collegiettes from purchasing their products. Fortunately, many other brands offer similar styles that are much easier on our bank accounts.

Here are nine affordable options if you're wanting the UGG-look on a small budget:

1. Bearpaw Women's Phylly Winter Boot ($99)

These Bearpaw boots (Famous Footwear, $99) come in charcoal and hickory, and sport a lace-up back detail similar to UGG's Kristabelle style ($140). Despite it's relatively large orginal price, the store often offers sales that will help make these boots more affordable.

2. H&M Pile-Lined Boots ($19.99)

These short classic cozy boots can be found at H&M ($19.99) and are available in dark grey, beige and black. They are almost an exact dupe for UGG's Classic II Mini boot ($140), but are a fraction of the cost!

3. H&M Ankle Boots ($49.99)

These ankle boots are one of the trendier options for cozy winter boots, and are available in black and beige at H&M ($19.99). They are comparable to UGG's Aliso ($160), with a slightly different heel style.

4. AEO Cozy Boot ($39.95)

These cozy boots are available at American Eagle Outfitters ($39.95) in several colors, including black, chestnut, grey and sand. They are a dupe for UGG's Classic II Short ($160), which is a style we can't live without.

5. Minnetonka Moccasin Slippers ($39.95)

These mocassin slippers can be found at American Eagle Outfitters ($39.95), as well as other retailers, in varying colors, including black, brown, chocolate and grey. These are comparable to UGG's Dakota slippers ($100), and are also great quality with their genuine-suede tops and pile-lined interior.

6. Target Kamar Shearling Style Boots ($34.99)

These cute, button-down boots can be found at Target ($34.99) in tan, grey, black and chestnut. The button trend on the short boot is comparable to UGG's Bailey Button II ($170).

7. Target Kallima Fashion Boots ($39.99)

These tall buttoned boots are from Target, and are available in grey, chestnut and black. They are comparable to UGG's Bailey Button Triplet II ($220), but are much more affordable!

8. MUK LUK Miranda Womens Boots ($44.99)

The cozy sweater look is a popular trend, which is what MUK LUK does best. These boots can be found at Tilly's ($39.95) in dark grey, and are similar to UGG's Lattice Cardy boots ($150).

9. Old Navy Sweater Cuff Boots ($44.94)

Similar to the sweater boots above, these sweater-cuff short boots are a popular trend that can be found at Old Navy ($44.94). Luckily for us, they are almost identicle to UGG's Shaina boot ($170).

Purchasing winter boots doesn't have to drain our bank account, especially with cute styles like these available at different retailers. With a little determination and browsing different sites, you are sure to find a dupe for any of the popular UGG styles we all love. Stay cozy, collegiettes!

Fox News Swept Disgusting Bill O'Reilly Sexual Harassment Allegations Under the Rug

Even in the New Year, 2016 somehow manages to add to its reputation as a complete and utter dumpster fire. In a year that saw upwards of 20 women accuse former Fox News chief, Roger Ailes, of sexual harassment, recent reports have revealed that the network is once again in the hot seat for brushing additional allegations against another high-status employee, Bill O’Reilly, under the rug.

O’Reilly, who currently hosts a conservative political commentary program, The O’Reilly Factor, is said to have pursued an unwanted sexual relationship with former local anchor, Juliet Huddy, beginning in 2011. According to a letter from Huddy’s lawyers obtained by The New York Times, O’Reilly attempted to wine and dine the aspiring television personality, inviting her to dinner, the theater and his house on Long Island. In addition to trying to kiss her, he also repeatedly called Huddy, sometimes while he was masturbating, and on one occasion, greeted her at the door wearing only his boxer shorts. So smooth.

While O’Reilly denies all claims, Fox News reportedly reached a secret settlement with Huddy of an undisclosed six-figure amount in exchange for her silence, and she ultimately left the company in September 2016 after over a decade of work. At the time of her departure, she made no references to the allegations, likely due to a confidentiality agreement.

Neither the network nor O’Reilly is a stranger to sexual harassment claims. In 2004, a producer of The O’Reilly Factor, Andrea Mackris, sued the 69-year-old for making unwanted sexual advances and vulgar comments, including multiple suggestions that she purchase a vibrator. The 23-page court document is publicly accessible if you’re interested in learning more about the host’s sleazeball tendencies.

Following the Ailes’ fallout, Fox executives affirmed that such behavior will not be tolerated by the company, though they have yet to comment on O’Reilly’s alleged behavior.

Donald Trump’s Son-In-Law Will Be His Senior Adviser in the White House

On Monday, a Trump transition team representative told CNN that Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law (husband of his oldest daughter, Ivanka) will serve as his senior adviser when he ascends to the Presidency.

If that sounds really sus to you, that’s because it is. Conflicts of interest aside, before helping to run Trump’s presidential campaign, Kushner had ZERO prior political experience (ring any bells?). He went to Harvard University, not likely on his own merit, and is a real estate developer who's also involved in online media.

After the news of Kushner’s position broke, Democratic members of the House Judiciary Committee, which oversees the House of Representatives, demanded a review of the nomination “in light of the anti-nepotism statute.”

Supporters of the appointment aren’t worried about their chances, though, according to The New York Times. “I am not saying there’s no legal argument on the other side...I’m just saying we have the better argument and will prevail,” Kushner's lawyer, Jamie Gorelick, told the Times about of the situation.

Kushner has also long defended Trump’s controversial statements and strategies. “It’s that simple, really...Donald Trump is not anti-Semitic and he’s not a racist,” Kushner wrote in his own magazine, according to Cosmopolitan. In a New York Magazine profile on Kushner, it was stated that he “is more like his father-in-law than anyone imagines.” RED FLAG.

Kushner will apparently leave behind his private sector ties once Trump’s administration begins. “Kushner also will not take a salary as he steps into the West Wing job,” according to CNN. How big of him!

This, of course, is not the first disconcerting choice by Donald Trump for his Presidential administration. We can only hope that the checks and balances system of the United States government does its job and that civilians and activists keep fighting for justice.

Trump's Pick for a Top National Security Job Plagiarized Her PhD Dissertation

Politico broke the news Monday that Monica Crowley, Donald Trump’s soon-to-be senior director of strategic communications for the National Security Council, plagiarized a whole bunch of information for her PhD at Columbia University in 2000.

According to the Politico investigation and report, Crowley used a number of excerpts from other sources either without formal bibliographic notation, or copied statements entirely from other sources without any attribution whatsoever. If you've ever read an academic syllabus in your life, you know this is a big no-no.

Wonderfully, considering this woman will soon head a major political entity advising Trump on foreign and domestic military policy, this isn’t the first time Crowley has been caught turning a blind eye to issues of academic integrity! Just this past weekend, CNN reported on “upwards of 50 examples of plagiarism from numerous sources” in the case of Crowley’s 2012 book, What the (Bleep) Just Happened, a critique of the U.S. under Barack Obama’s presidency.

Crowley also faced accusations of plagiarism in 1999 for an article that she wrote for The Wall Street Journal because of its similarities to another piece for a conservative magazine from the previous year, according to CNN. Crowley responded stating that she “did not, nor would [she] ever, use material from a source without citing it.”

WELL. According to the Politico exposé, that’s exactly what Crowley did. And she did it A LOT.

Donald Trump’s transition team has responded to the accusations, neither confirming nor denying them, but only saying that the stories of Crowley’s indiscretions are political power plays. “Any attempt to discredit Monica is nothing more than a politically motivated attack that seeks to distract from the real issues facing this country,” the transition team told CNN.

Monica Crowley has not responded personally to the latest slew of accusations, and Donald Trump’s Twitter has yet to go on a rampage about “dishonest media.” (It’s only a matter of time.)

This obviously is not dishonest—there is PROOF. Donald Trump might need a quick refresher on what proof and the truth are, though. He also might want to rethink (for the millionth time??) his latest presidential administration pick.

Earlier today, Lauren Conrad teased us by revealing her favorite baby names. Now she's giving us something a little more concrete: the debut of her baby bump!

I already knew Lauren was going to be the cutest pregnant woman that ever walked this earth, but I can't get over how precious she looks in this pic. I can't be the only one who is looking forward to many more baby bump sightings in the months to come.

LC kicked off the new year by announcing on Instagram that she and husband William Tell have a little bundle on the way. Lauren has always had a top-notch Insta, but I just know it's about to get even better.

Victims Are Safe & Suspect is in Custody After a Hostage Standoff at University of Alabama

A hostage situation at a credit union just off the campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa was came to an end midday Tuesday with the suspect in custody and the hostages all safe, The Washington Post reports.

The crisis came just as students were beginning to move back in for the spring semester. Local news outlet WVUA streamed live from the scene where streets were closed off and anyone in the area was asked to stay inside while local police and the FBI worked to negotiate with the suspect. When these negotiations proved to be unproductive, a SWAT team entered the building.

In an announcement after the situation was resolved, Tuscaloosa police spokeswoman Lt. Teena Richardson said that there had been about eight hostages and that they were all “fine” after being held in the Alabama Credit Union building. At present, it is unclear what sparked the incident.

Classes begin at the university on Wednesday and should proceed normally. Still, it’s been a rough couple of days for UA, particularly after their surprising loss to Clemson University in the College Football Playoff championship game.

Jeff Sessions Denies Being Racist During His Confirmation Hearing For Attorney General

Jeff Sessions, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Attorney General, began his confirmation hearings Tuesday amidst protests and allegations of racism. Sessions was repeatedly confronted by senators about the claims that led to his failed nomination for a position on a federal district court in Alabama in 1986. During the hearing, he was accused of using racist language, including “telling a black attorney to be careful what he said to ‘white folks,’ failing to denounce the sentiment that a white civil rights lawyer was a traitor to his race, and calling the NAACP ‘un-American,’” BuzzFeed News reported.

Sessions, apparently, did not appreciate being called racist and bigoted, saying that it did not “feel good” to be labeled as such. He also denied any sympathies towards the Ku Klux Klan, declaring, “I abhor the Klan and what it represents and its hateful ideology,” according to the Huffington Post.

Sessions’ nomination has drawn criticism from civil rights groups across the country. While he has made it clear that he does not support a ban on Muslims and plans to recuse himself from any potential investigations into Hillary Clinton, Sessions is well known for his history of conservative policies in his twenty years of representing the state of Alabama as a senator. He is particularly notorious for being tough on immigration, and has even served as one of Donald Trump’s primary immigration advisors during the transition. His views have resulted in at least 400 letters from civil rights organizations, as well as a letter signed by over 1400 law professors objecting to his confirmation, according to Democratic Senator Diane Feinstein. According to BuzzFeed, the law professors expressed concern that there was nothing in Sessions’ record of service to indicate “that he is a different man than the 39-year-old attorney who was deemed too racially insensitive to be a federal district court judge.” Feinstein went on to add that, “There is a deep fear about what a Trump administration will bring in many places. And this is the context in which we must consider Senator Sessions’ record and nomination.”

BuzzFeed reported that, an hour into the confirmation hearing, seven protesters had been removed by US Capitol Police for disrupting proceedings with chants, including “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA.” Other protestors held up signs or dressed up as members of the KKK.

Sessions is widely expected to be confirmed by the Republican-controlled Senate. However, the hearing expected to be contentious, and will likely set the tone for the upcoming hearings of several of Trump’s other nominees.
