Belle & Beast Have Major ~Chemistry~ in This New 'Beauty and the Beast' Trailer

0
0

In anticipation of the March release of Beauty and the Beast, we've been teased with several trailers to whet our appetite for the film. In a brand-new trailer, Belle and Beast are showing off some major chemistry, giving us a peek into how Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast will breathe life into this live-action remake.

Although it’s only a 30-second clip, we get everything from drama and comedy to—of course—romance! The trailer features a scene between Belle and the Beast where she thanks him for saving her life and he quips back, thanking her in return for not leaving him to be eaten by wolves.

Despite knowing the plot of the story, we are excited to see how Disney captures the retelling of this classic. We’re sure it will be a magical production matched with a fairytale ending.

The New NYX Lip Lingerie Shades Will Make You Feel Things

Matte lips were a huge look in 2016, and it doesn't look like this trend is going to end anytime soon. Thank goodness, because the new NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick shades are so perfect it will make you dream in (lipstick) color. If you haven't tried NYX lip colors before, now is the time; they have all the glory and lasting power of more expensive makeup brands, but without the fancy price tag (which makes your face, and your wallet, very happy).

The new shades belong to the aptly named "Lip Lingerie" line—and that's pretty much all the convincing I need. Lingerie=good, lipstick=good.... so lip lingerie?!? Even better. A woman can never have too much lingerie, in my opinion.

I was obsessed with NYX before, but now they might as well just take ALL my money. I mean seriously—long-lasting matte lipstick that actually stays on, comes in amazing colors, and is super cheap (each piece will cost you $7)?! It's a dream come true. The new line comes in 12 colors, all with names that will have you feeling like a goddess in no time. Some of my favorites include, "Seduction,""Cheekies," and "French Maid." If the names + amazing colors don't give you the feels, then idk what will.

If you don't believe my testament to this line's awesomeness, there are countless people out there testing the colors for themselves and creating swatches. Click here for in-depth reviews of six of these fab shades!

Have you tried these new shades of Lip Lingerie yet? Let us know what you think!

Ed Sheeran Just Released TWO New Songs & We Have Been Blessed

My how we've missed you. Back from his music (and social media) hiatus, Ed Sheeran has given us just what we needed to see past the pain of 2016.

With not one but two new songs, Sheeran has fans across the world buzzing about his comeback and, of course, his relentless talent. The first, "Shape of You," is just the type of hitmaker you'd expect from Ed. The second, "Castle on the Hill," is a bit more nostalgic but still has that signature beat we've come to associate with Sheeran's biggest songs.

Suddenly, 2017 is looking up for us.

Chris Pratt Making Fun of His 'Vanity Fair' Photo Shoot is Everything

Chris Pratt is the hottest actor of the moment thanks to his role in Passengers, but thankfully for us, he hasn’t shed the comedic wit we found so charming and lovable on Parks and Recreation. His sense of humor is on full display in a series of Instagram posts making fun of his recent Vanity Fair photo shoot. All the jokes are made at his expense, but we have a feeling he is laughing right along with us.

The actor found humor in the serious editorial photo spread, in which he appears to have mastered the brooding, borderline moody look. Pratt took a moment to poke fun at his photos, and his remarks are literally making us laugh out loud. He proves that genuine humor will never go out of style.

Altogether, there are five photos, and they gradually keep getting funnier. Here, he is referencing the body of water he was in for the shot on the front cover of the mag.

Here's me warming up after having to be in that freakin' cold ass water forever.

He quickly changes locations with a quick pit stop at a racetrack.

And then he returns to the wilderness setting, where he introspectively has a brief reflection on beer, practices sniffing his knuckles—you know, as people do—and accidentally gets stuck between two massive rocks.

And here I am casually sniffing my knuckles.

Chris Pratt, please don’t ever change.

A Visit to UC Berkeley From Milo Yiannopoulos Will Cost College Republicans $10,000

0

Milo Yiannopoulos, conservative speaker and Breitbart journalist, is slated to visit UC Berkeley in early February to speak to the Berkeley College Republicans (BCR) on campus. BCR will likely have to pay a fee of around $10,000 to cover the costs for Yiannopoulos’ appearance, according to the school's newspaper, The Daily Californian.

This cost is stirring up controversy because members of BCR believe the school is trying to make it prohibitively expensive for them to bring Yiannopoulos to campus. Student union representatives have maintained that the cost is based objectively on the size, accessibility and security needs for the event, not because of the speaker or his views (Berkeley’s students and professors are known for their liberal views).

“I think it’s important that adequate safety and security concerns are readdressed in preparation for this event given the security and safety concerns that have arisen when Milo Yiannopoulos has spoken at other campuses,” Will Morrow, president of the Associated Students of University of California, told the Daily Californian.

Yiannopoulos’ visits to other college campuses have prompted protests and physical altercations, leading a number of colleges and universities to cancel his visits altogether. Berkeley College administrators do not consider these precedents grounds for calling off Yiannopoulos’ appearance there, however.

Berkeley students on the political left have denounced the visit of Yiannopoulos and said that it will harm members of the university community who have been further marginalized by Donald Trump's election. "Milo's appearance here is only going to enable more people to harass them," Caiden Nason, vice president of membership of Cal Berkeley Democrats, wrote to the Daily Californian when Yiannopoulos' visit was first announced. "Milo's appearance reflects a group of students on campus who are more interested in causing problems than having conversations."

UC Berkeley policy as well as the parameters of the First Amendment prevent the campus from barring Yiannopoulos based on his political views. “While we realize that the presence of certain speakers is likely to upset some members of our campus community...students and faculty members retain the right to invite individuals on campus,” Berkeley spokesperson Dan Mogulof wrote in an email, according to the Daily Californian.

Yiannopoulos’ opinions and words will likely do more than “upset” members of the Berkeley community. In July of 2016, Yiannopoulos was banned from Twitter entirely for his use of the online platform that constituted abuse and harassment.

What do you think? Does Yiannopoulos’ presence on college campuses stand as a threat to certain lives? Or is restricting him more of a threat to civil liberties?

Maybelline Just Announced Its First-Ever Male Ambassador

The beauty industry is off to an amazingly gender-inclusive start for 2017: Maybelline just announced that its newest brand ambassador is none other than the YouTube and Instagram makeup star Manny Gutierrez, proving that ~she's~ not just born with it, but he is too.

Gutierrez, who you may already know on Instagram as @mannymua733, stars in the makeup brand's "That Boss Life" campaign, which features its Big Shot Mascara. He appears alongside two other well-known beauty bloggers Shayla Mitchell and Jackie Flowers.

Gutierrez rose to his three million followers on Instagram and two million YouTube subscribers-levels of fame after starting his channel in July of 2014. Marie Claire reports that growing up in a Mormon household initially made explaining his love for makeup to his parents difficult, but that they eventually became accepting of his creative freedom.

This will be the first time Maybelline has ever used a male or a beauty influencer as the face of a campaign, so this is huge for Manny for two major reasons - and considering  how flawlessly he can execute a killer New Year's glitter eye look (seriously, those WINGS), it's well deserved.

Doctors Say that Detoxes & Cleanses Are a Dangerous Way to Start the New Year

When Jan. 1 rolls around, you can bet that thousands of people will be starting on a quest to lose weight or eat a healthier diet—and that many of them won't go about it the right way. Doctors are warning patients to be careful with extreme diets, detoxes and cleanses, because they can end up doing more harm than good.

BBC News reports that one woman last year was hospitalized after drinking almost nothing except water, tea and other herbal supplements. She ended up having a seizure and collapsing.

According to a report in the British Medical Journal, detoxing and high intakes of water are seen as ways of "purifying and cleansing" the body of any types of diseases and waste products.  However, after studying the case of the previously mentioned woman, they advise to other medical professionals that: “Patients should be advised of the potential detriment done to their health of undertaking a New Year ‘detox’ especially if it involves consuming excessive amounts of fluid or alternative remedies.”

Most important of all: You don't need any kind of special cleanse to get rid of the bad stuff in your body! One of the authors of the report, Dr. Oliver Toovey, told CBS News, “The liver plays an important role in breaking down toxins in the body and getting rid of them. There is no way to artificially enhance this, nor should anyone need to.”

“The best policy is to rely on your body’s own senses,” he said. So drink plenty of water, but there's no need to overdo it if you're not thirsty. Eat when you're hungry, too! Forget the cleanses and make it your New Year's Resolution to be good to yourself and your body.

'Scandal' Thought This Election Storyline Was Too Unrealistic, But Then It Happened IRL

Shonda Rhimes’s Scandal is known to push the political envelope, constantly mimicking or predicting real-life events and trying “to extrapolate it to its most crazy degree,” Rhimes says. Most recently, the show's writers pulled an upcoming storyline about the Russian government hacking the U.S. presidential election in an attempt to destabilize the Democratic Party.

Ultimately, Rhimes reconsidered after similarly disturbing events unfolded in the real world. She says, “It’s not just that we didn’t want to be bold and big in a show like this. That wasn’t necessarily our problem as much as, how dark do you want to be at a time when people aren’t feeling so happy? I think there are things that hit very close to home that I certainly never anticipated…things that I thought would be so far from what was gonna happen that felt like fantasy or felt like I could revel in them because they weren’t gonna be true. And they turned out to be a little bit too true.”

Scandal returns on Jan.19, with the big reveal of who won the show’s fictional presidential election.

Tilikum, The SeaWorld Orca Featured In ‘Blackfish,’ Dies After 33 Years In Captivity

0

Tilikum, who was possibly the most famous orca in the world, died early Friday. “The SeaWorld family is deeply saddened to announce that one of its most well-known orcas, Tilikum, has passed away,” SeaWorld announced in a statement.

According to SeaWorld, Tilikum faced “very serious health issues,” linked to a persistent bacterial lung infection, although the official cause of death cannot be confirmed until the necropsy is completed.

Tilikum, who was around 36 years old, was in captivity at SeaWorld for 25 years. According to the Associated Press, Tilikum was born off the Icelandic coast, and was brought to Sealand of the Pacific in Canada shortly after his capture. There, Tilikum and two other orcas played a part in the death of a part-time trainer who slipped and fell into the orca pool.

After moving to SeaWorld in 1992, Tilikum sired 14 calves, becoming the most prolific male orca in SeaWorld Orlando’s breeding program, the BBC reports. In 1999, Tilikum was linked to another death: a naked man who snuck into SeaWorld overnight was found dead in Tilikum’s tank.

Tilikum found fame, or infamy, after the 2010 death of SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau. During a live audience performance called “Dine with Shamu,” Tilikum pulled Brancheau underwater, where she reportedly drowned.

“Tilikum’s life will always be inextricably connected with the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Dawn Brancheau,” wrote SeaWorld in its statement. “While we all experienced profound sadness about that loss, we continued to offer Tilikum the best care possible, each and every day, from the country’s leading experts in marine mammals.”

Three years later, Tilikum was the subject of Blackfish, an award-winning documentary arguing that captive killer whales become more aggressive toward both humans and each other. According to the AP, Brancheau’s death, paired with Blackfish, sparked public outcry against SeaWorld and the eventual end to the park’s orca breeding program.

Some people hailed Tilikum’s death as freedom at last for the captive killer whale, who spent 33 years of his life in a tank. Others pointed out that he could have lived longer if Tilikum wasn’t forced to spend those years in captivity.

RIP Tilikum, you will be missed.

5 Killed, At Least 13 Injured After Fort Lauderdale Airport Shooting

At least five people are dead and at least eight have been hospitalized with injuries after a shooting broke out Friday afternoon at Florida’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, CNN reports. NBC News confirms that a suspect with military identification, 26-year-old New Jersey native Esteban Santiago, has been taken into custody, but his motives are still unknown to the public.

The shooting happened in the baggage claim of Terminal 2 just outside a security checkpoint. People evacuated to the tarmac after shots were fired, while airport police chased down Santiago and eventually captured him at a departure gate, says The New York Times. According to Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca, Santiago was a passenger on a Candian flight, checked his gun and then went to the bathroom to load his weapon. About an hour after the news of the shooting broke, reports of a possible second shooter emerged, Florida’s ABC 10 News reports, but were later denied by police.

The airport is currently closed and authorities have determined that the crime scene remains active. Flight passengers and employees remain at the airport while police investigate. The majority of flights meant to land at the airport will be delayed or redirected to other airports. “We have our units on site and around the perimeter to provide assistance and support, and we remain ready, willing, and able to provide additional assistance, support and resources,” Fort Lauderdale Major John P. Seller said in a statement reported by The Washington Post.

Witnesses have shared their experiences on Twitter and various news outlets. “I got off the plane and I saw people running and screaming,” Gene Messina told CNN. “At first I was in shock but when I saw TSA agents running, I booked.”

President-Elect Donald Trump also tweeted about the emergency, offering his sentiments.

In a press briefing involving Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel and airport director Mark Gale, it was revealed that Santiago "was taken into custody without incident" and that FBI representatives would not reveal the type of weapon used in the incident. As of now, the situation is ongoing. Our thoughts and prayers are with those at the Fort Lauderdale airport and their families.

For more updates, keep an eye on the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport's Twitter account.

Here's Which 'Bachelor' Contestant You Are, Based on Your Zodiac Sign

0
0

The Bachelor is one of our most ~basic~ loves. We also happen to adore matching things to our zodiac sign. So it only makes sense to combine these two completely necessary hobbies. Find out which Bachelor contestant you are, based on your sign, below.

Aquarius

Rachel

Aquarius signs are extremely intelligent and ruled by their minds. That sounds a lot like this smarty-pants lawyer.

Pisces

Alexis

Pisces is a water sign, represented by two fish. How could Pisces not be associated with the dolphin-loving, shark-costume-wearing Alexis?

Aries

Vanessa

As a special education teacher, we’re guessing Vanessa embodies the determined leader quality of an Aries. We’ll have to wait later in the season to see if she also sports a competitive side.

Taurus

Taylor

Taylor is a mental health counselor, so she’s just the type to be the calm voice of reason in a crisis, like Taurus.

Gemini

Jaimi

We have a feeling Jaimi is going to keep us on our toes this season. Resembling a Gemini, who often boasts two v different sides, Jaimi has crowdsurfed and catered the Oscars. So she obviously knows how to be serious and fun.

Cancer

Josephine

Cancer signs are emotional and sympathetic, so while Josephine may seem wacky for talking to seals and her cat, you know you’d do the same, Cancer.

Leo

Corinne

Leos are sometimes described as queens of the jungle. They like to be in charge and be taken care of. Quick, someone fetch nanny.

Virgo

Danielle M.

Virgos are perfectionists who have definite goals in mind. Danielle M. is a neonatal nurse; we doubt she achieved that without working hard.

Libra

Christen

Love the beautiful things in life? You might be wedding videographer Christen, who looks like she has tiny, animated birds flitting around her head at all times.

Scorpio

Danielle L.

Danielle L. owns her own business, so she’s clearly a fierce natural-born leader. Such a Scorpio.

Sagittarius

Raven

From what little we’ve seen of Raven, we already know she’s a sweet Southern belle. Optimistic and enthusiastic with a great sense of humor, Raven must be a Sagittarius.

Capricorn

Liz

Capricorns have difficulty accepting others, and judging by that uncomfortable convo Liz had with Nick about their one-night stand, we’d say she’s exhibiting the traits of this earth sign.

17 Signs You're So Over Online Dating

0
0

You know people in real life who have successfully found a partner through dating apps or websites. After some hesitation, you decided to download Tinder, Bumble and anything else you could get your hands on thinking, "Why not?" Well… Now, tbh you're ~the most~ over online dating, and you can think of several reasons why.

1. You regularly delete the apps because you tell yourself you enjoy being single.

Psh, who needs them?! Besides, by deleting the apps, you have more space on your phone for photos of your dog.

2. But every so often, the single life feels kind of boring.

When you're bored, you make the mistake of downloading the apps again.

3. But you're frustrated by the surface-level interactions.

Like, these people only saw your photos and MAYBE read your one-sentence bio. They'll never understand you.

4. So when one of your matches suggests that he finds you cool or interesting, you quickly call him out.

How could he like you based on a few text messages?! Not possible.

5. You also feel hesitant to reveal personal information to these random people on your phone screen.

Why does this guy think he needs to know where you go to college or what you do in your free time?

6. When someone tries to start sexting, you act like you don't know what he's talking about.

Send a pic? OKAY. *sends random photo of the sunset*

7. You have no tolerance for "come over" messages anymore.

Tinder match: "I'm coming over." You: "I didn't invite you."

8. So you have an endless list of not-so-great excuses for when people want to meet up.

You honestly don't even know why you're using these dating apps anymore.

9. When a match asks you what you're using the app for, you don't have a good answer.

You honestly have no idea.

10. You know that online dating works for some people.

Several friends of yours successfully met people online.

11. And that just confuses you even more.

What are you doing wrong?!

12. You just keep matching with people who you are not compatible with in any way.

Someone make it stop.

13. Yet they're so persistent.

No, you don't want to hang out. Was that not clear the three other times you said it?

14. You spend a lot of time swiping—left, that is.

You know those people who furiously swipe right on pretty much everyone? Yeah, you're basically the opposite of that.

15. You try to be witty, but all of your matches still just say "Hey" or "What's up?"

Why do you even try anymore?

16. Feeling hopeless, you try other methods of engaging in conversation.

And you fail, of course.

17. You're not sure you'll ever understand.

Maybe it's time to give up on online dating.

Watch Michelle Obama Deliver Her Final Speech as FLOTUS and Try Not to Cry

The final two weeks of the Obama presidency has officially begun - and as if it wasn't hard enough to see President Obama leave, Michelle Obama's farewell speech on Friday just made us even more emotional about the Obama family's departure from the White House.

At an event to honor the 2017 School Counselor of the Year (a ceremony Obama has been in charge of since 2015, according to CNN), FLOTUS gave her final speech as first lady. On the verge of tears, she focused on delivering a message of hope to the American people, which was much-needed considering the brutal and nasty election cycle our country just witnessed.

"With a lot of hard work and a good education, anything is possible. Even becoming president," Obama said, specifically addressing young people.

FLOTUS also offered a reminder of why diversity only adds to what makes this country great, countering the significant backlash toward immigrants and minorities that we've seen throughout the past year.

"Our glorious diversity of faiths, colors, and creeds is not a threat to who we are. It makes us who we are," she said. "Don’t ever let anyone make you feel like you don’t matter or like you don’t have a place in our American story."

Watch the full speech below (which begins at around 17:00), and just try to make it through without ugly crying. (Chances are, you won't.)

President Obama is expected to follow with his own farewell speech in Chicago on Tuesday, according to the New York Times. Brace yourself - we're expecting things will get just as emotional.

After a difficult past few months for the Kardashian family and subsequent uncertainty about the future of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the show will, in fact, be returning - and it's looking like it won't be glazing over some of the challenging situations the family has recently faced.

In a new promo for the upcoming 13th season of the show, Kim can be seen giving a tearful account of being bound, gagged and robbed at gunpoint during Paris Fashion Week last fall. The masked robbers stole $10 million in jewelry from her, including her engagement ring.

"They’re going to shoot me in the back. There’s no way out. It makes me so upset to think about it," she tells Kourtney and Khloe.

In the same teaser, Kim also receives a phone call following Kanye West's hospitalization for exhaustion back in November - another highly-publicized hardship for Kim, who only recently returned to social media earlier this week after taking a three month hiatus. Luckily, following some time off, it looks like Kim is using the new year to open up and move on from some of the difficulties the end of 2016 brought.

NASA Just Announced the First Black Female Astronaut to Board the International Space Station

On Wednesday, NASA announced the next two astronauts who will become International Space Station crew members - and one of them will become the first black woman to ever board the International Space Station.

Jeanette Epps will launch on her first spaceflight in May of 2018 and will work with astronaut Andrew Feustal at the International Space Station, who is scheduled to launch two months before her in March.

“Each space station crew brings something different to the table, and Drew and Jeanette both have a lot to offer,” said Chris Cassidy, chief of the Astronaut Office at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, said in NASA's press release. “The space station will benefit from having them on board.”

Epps is originally from Syracuse, New York, and studied physics at LeMoyne College. From there, she completed a master's degree in science and her Ph.D in aerospace engineering at the University of Maryland. She's a member of NASA's 2009 astronaut class and even worked as a technical intelligence officer for the CIA for seven years. As if she weren't insanely accomplished enough, she will also now become the International Space Station's first African American crew member - and an inspiration to women in STEM fields everywhere.

Who run the world space? Girls.

The Newest Starbucks Breakfast Item is Super Fancy

0
0

Just when we were majorly bumming about the fact that our red cups and gingerbread lattes were no more, Starbucks is dropping a brand new breakfast item to save the day - and it looks super fancy.

Cosmopolitan reports that our fave coffee spot just announced its new Sous Vide Egg Bites, which are basically fancy little round omlets packed with some pretty delicious fillings. The new menu item (which will be sold in packs of two) will come in two different versions: Bacon and Gruyere and Egg White and Roasted Pepper for a slightly healthier option. The brand describes them as, "A foodie delight, even when you're on the go," and since they're protein-packed and carb-free, they'll make for a full-all-day breakfast option unlike, say, a cake pop or muffin.

That just leaves one question - so what is "sous vide" exactly? Sous vide is a culinary technique in which eggs are cooked in a vaccum-sealed bag put in hot water. It helps protect a food's flavor from getting lost in the cooking process, and besides that, it just makes your morning feel a little more fancy.

Starbucks obsessives, mark your calendars: the Sous Vide Egg Bites will hit Starbucks stores for us to try on January 10.
