Rob Kardashian Confirms Blac Chyna Left Him in a Series of Very Sad Instagrams

Although the Kardashian's are always in the news one way or another, typically it is all just gossip. But not anymore.

In a series of extremely sad Instagram's last night, Robert Kardashian, the matriarch of the winning family, confirmed that his fiance moved out and took baby Dream with her. All of this happened after Blac Chyna was supposedly hacked on the gram and posted many pictures of her text messages with other men. In the first post of the night, Kardashian was extremely honest with his followers and obviously heartbroken.

Sorry to be so open but I'm not feeling so good after seeing @blacchyna messages about me and what her plans were. I have never been this heartbroken in my life. I don't mind being so open or if anyone thinks I'm being weak but I don't play when it comes to Family and Chyna was my Family and thought we were getting married. I treated her as a Queen. My baby girl is 1 month old and Chyna took her and left this beautiful home that I just bought for us. Right before Christmas. Someone I have given my all too. I Loved every inch of that woman and loved everything that came with her. I truly loved Angela. I gave everything I owned for her. Didn't know I was just part of her plan. I really believed she was in love with me the way that I was with her and I am so hurt and never felt this before. It's different when you have a kid with someone. And after reading Chyna's messages to her best friend she was going to drop me after a year. She didn't even make it to that. I am so broken. This is a woman I fought my entire family for. I was in love with this woman to the fullest and I was none of that to her. Go to my snap-----> @robphuckedme

The rest of the pictures that follow reveal that not only did Chyna leave with Dream right before Christmas, that unfortunately for Rob, she took his "eggos and my chips and my sweet baby rays BBQ sauce." Now that truly is horrible.

5 Myths About State Schools You Shouldn’t Believe

0
0

Maybe you’ve dreamed of attending an Ivy League school your entire life, or maybe you’ve pictured yourself thriving at a small liberal arts college for years. But whether it’s for financial or academic reasons, or just a change of heart, hundreds of thousands of college students go on to study at one of the nation’s many state universities. Despite the stereotypes surrounding them, there are plenty of fantastic options for receiving a top-tier education at a public university.

The real difference between public and private institutions is where their funding comes from. Public schools can accept government funds, while private schools rely on tuition and donations (hence, private tuition is often so much higher). Even so, there’s often not a huge difference between the endowment funds of public and private schools––some public schools even have larger endowments than Ivies!

Now that we’ve covered the major difference between the two, here are some of the biggest misconceptions about state schools that you shouldn’t believe.

Myth #1: State schools should be a backup

It’s not uncommon for people to assume that someone is attending a state school because their first choice school didn’t work out. “When I decided to go to the University of Alabama, everyone was shocked and disapproving,” says Helmi Henkin, a sophomore at the University of Alabama. “Since I grew up in a suburb near Stanford University, where the academic atmosphere since kindergarten was always highly competitive, they felt I was wasting my potential.”

In reality, state schools are actually some of the most reputable and innovative institutions in the country––public or private. Schools such as University of California-Berkeley, UCLA, University of Virginia, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill all rank in the top 50 universities in the nation, according to US News. Many of these schools even beat out brand-name private schools like New York University, Tufts University and Boston College (and their tuition is just a fraction of the cost––even if you’re an out-of-state student).

“One big myth that I was told going into college was that by attending a state school, I wouldn't have as good of a shot at getting jobs in the future versus kids who went to Big Ten schools,” says Alyssa Damato, a sophomore at Illinois State University. “This could not be any further from the truth. [Illinois State] has given me so many opportunities and resume builders that I don't believe I'd get to experience had I gone elsewhere.”

Because state schools are often very large, they offer nearly endless options for majors, classes and courses of study––which is particularly advantageous if you’re starting school undeclared or aren’t totally sure if you’ll stick with your current major. If you go to a liberal arts or more specialized school, your schedule may be much less flexible, especially if you end up changing your mind.

Myth #2: You’re just a number

It might be hard to feel like you can stand out when your school’s population is made up of 25,000 to 50,000 students––but you totally can! “Many of my classmates feared state schools because they felt the large student body would lessen their opportunities to stand out,” says Helmi. However, state schools often have hundreds of student organizations––whether it’s club or varsity sports, Greek life or based around a common interest––where you can find your niche (not to mention make great friends and build up your resume).

“Going to a big state school is beneficial to my education because of how many opportunities there are to personalize my campus experience, from hundreds of student organizations to dozens of faculty research labs,” adds Helmi. More people often means more resources and facilities, which is why state schools are often among the most innovative out there! Though you may have to do a bit more digging to find your place, with so many options, you can be sure your perfect state school is out there somewhere.

Myth #3: You’ll get less attention from professors

It’s pretty easy to assume that more students means professors have to spread themselves thin, right? Wrong! Most schools, no matter the size of their student population, make it a big point to ensure that students can get personalized attention from their professors. Seriously, average class size and student-to-professor ratio are huge factors in determining annual college rankings.

For example, the student-to-faculty ratio at University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, which has nearly 30,000 undergrads, is 15 to one, according to the College Board. Boston College, which is a mid-sized private school with about 9,000 undergrads, has a ratio of nearly 13 to one, says the College Board.

“Many of my introductory classes were relatively large, sure, but most of my classes are pretty small,” says Helmi. Even smaller colleges often have introductory class sizes of more than 100 students, so this is something you’re likely to run into no matter where you end up. “My professors are easily accessible outside of class through email or office hours,” she adds.

“I've had great experiences with professors even though I go to a state school,” says Rachel Petty, a junior at James Madison University. “They're always so kind and welcoming, and are truly there to help! The professors have nothing to do with where the school's funding comes from.”

“I actually have quite a few smaller classes where teachers call you by name and actually talk to you one-on-one in teacher meetings,” says Chelsea Schroeder, a freshman at Bowling Green State University. “In the few bigger classes, we also have recitations where students are in small classes to learn hands-on with a teacher. It’s very convenient and easy to learn, plus I get to meet new people and see them around on campus!”

Professors are often drawn to universities where they’re inspired by students and where they’ll have opportunities to pursue their desired area of research––regardless of whether they’re public or private.

Myth #4: Everyone parties all the time

Even if you choose to go to the most conservative school out there, there’s no doubt you’ll still end up running into some partiers––it’s just the nature of college life. What matters, though, is that you’re able to find friends that won’t pressure you to party if you don’t want to. If you do choose to party, make sure that you’re able to balance night life with school, extracurriculars and everything else you’ve got going on.

Helmi says that many of her friends avoided state schools because they were afraid “the multitude of parties would create pressure to participate and their grades would suffer as a result.” However, she has yet to run into this problem. “Even though I am in a sorority, where the pressure to party is stereotypically higher, I have been able to keep up good grades," she says. "When I skip a party to study or catch up on sleep, I do not feel like I am missing out on anything.”

An advantage of going to a large school is that, no matter where you fall on the party-loving spectrum, you’ll definitely find a group of friends who share your values. On the nights you do want to go out, there’s sure to be something happening, and on the nights you don’t, you can rest assured that there will be plenty of opportunities to join in when you’re ready.

Myth #5: There’s no sense of community

This is probably the myth about state schools that’s furthest from the truth! It might be unnerving to think about the fact that there are tens of thousands of people surrounding you that you’ll never even meet, but in reality, you all share a common bond. State schools often have the fiercest pride and school spirit. Students at smaller schools are often jealous that they’re missing out on such a quintessential aspect of the traditional college experience. So, embrace it by donning your school’s colors and going to a tailgate and football game at least once before you graduate.

“I love the diversity and community that going to a school with 37,000 undergraduate students has provided me,” says Helmi. “There is something new I can learn from everyone I interact with, since we all come from such varied backgrounds in many ways.” It’s pretty ironic that state schools are often stereotyped as being homogeneous, considering the fact that students from all over choose to attend these schools for a variety of reasons.

Taking pride in your alma mater is essential to enjoying your college experience. It can even help you out in the future! “Once, I was wearing an Alabama shirt in an airport lounge in Dubai and someone said ‘Roll Tide’ to me,” shares Helmi. “If someone knows my school, we automatically have a connection and that kind of networking is quite vital and beneficial in finding a job or just making friends.” When your school literally has hundreds of thousands of alumni, you never know when you’ll run into another graduate of your university––or if they’d be interested in hiring a fellow Wolverine, Badger or whatever mascot it is that’ll brand you for life after graduation.

Whether you’re looking for the chance to broaden your horizons with a large and diverse student body, aiming to attend a university that’s a bit closer to home or simply eager for the chance to enjoy a more traditional college student experience, a state university may be a fantastic opportunity you’ll want to look into. Trust us, you can rest assured that in doing so you won’t have to compromise on academics, individualized attention or a sense of community.

7 Collegiettes on Their Most Confidence-Boosting Clothes

0
0

We all have that one special, go-to piece in our closets that we constantly gravitate towards—you know the one—every time you slip it on, it just feels right. While we love a great trendy piece, the best clothes have the power to make us not only look amazing, but feel amazing too. We got the inside scoop from collegiettes on the pieces and outfits that make them feel like conquering the world—here’s what they had to say.

1. Cute to Boot

Mega-babe Marilyn Monroe once said, “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” Rachel Petty, a junior at James Madison University, would definitely agree. “Wearing my booties always makes me feel confident and empowered!” Rachel says. “If I'm looking to take an outfit to the next level, they're always my go-to!”

We’re thinking Marilyn was totally onto something. If super chic ankle boots don’t do it for you, a pair of killer heels or fab flats totally will—oh, and great shoes look amazing on every body type, shape and size.

2. Blast From the Past

Sometimes it’s not the clothes themselves that are special, but the memories of when we felt beautiful wearing them that make them special. For Helmi Henkin, a sophomore at the University of Alabama, her senior prom dress will always have a special place in her closet.

“My favorite outfit is my senior prom dress,” Helmi says. “Senior prom was the most beautiful I have ever felt—getting to wear that gown with my hair and makeup done so elegantly. Sometimes when I am feeling down, all it takes is putting my senior prom dress back on and I am filled with happiness and confidence like I felt that night.”

Even the pieces you may only wear for one special night are still worth holding onto—you never know when you may feel like trying them on and taking a little trip down memory lane!

3. Skirts & Dresses

When in doubt, Donna Amore, a senior at The University of Scranton, likes to show off her killer legs as a confidence booster.

“Ever since I was little I've had a knack for only wearing dresses and skirts,” Donna says. “I’d happily choose either a dress or skirt over sweatpants any day. They never fail to make me feel furiously feminine and comfortable in my own body.”

Whether you’re petite, tall or somewhere in between, showing a little (or a lot!) of leg via a cute skirt or dress will always look amazing—try the look with a pair of eye-catching tights this winter, and it will pack a punch.

4. Biker Jacket Babe

For Katie O’Hara, a sophomore at Ithaca College, her leather jacket completes every outfit. “I just throw on my leather jacket whenever I want to feel a little extra tough and edgy,” Katie says. “It’s how I make any outfit feel a little more ‘me,’ which instantly boosts my confidence!”

Whether it’s in the form of a jacket, pants or an accessory, there’s no denying that leather anything has the power to make even the girliest of dressers feel a little extra tough.

5. Bright Idea

While we love our neutrals and our all-black outfits, for Alexandra Hehlen, a sophomore at the University of North Carolina, there’s nothing like a pop of color to (literally!) brighten her day.

“I always go for the bright colors, the weird cuts or the fun embellishments because they make me feel unique and enhance my personality,” Alexandra says. “I've got a sunshine yellow leather bag from the Cambridge Satchel Company that I thrifted in New Orleans, and it comes EVERYWHERE with me!”

Not feeling full-on color? Take your cues from Alexandra and add a simple pop of a fun hue to your look—trust us, it will be an instant mood lifter. Get ready for the compliments!

6. Tried & True

For Madison Schreiber, a freshman at the Fashion Institute of Technology, tossing her favorite bomber jacket on is the key to feeling fab. “I have a black bomber jacket that I love to wear, as it adds an extra edge and sophistication to any look and looks like I spent much more time planning out my outfit, even if I just threw it on,” Madison says.

There’s a reason you gravitate to your favorite pair of jeans or jacket even when you’ve worn them three times already that week: they make you feel like you. The easiest way to feel good about yourself? Being yourself, of course. Having a favorite signature piece on hand is always the perfect way to stay true to your killer personal style.

7. #GirlBoss-ing It

Proof that professional clothing doesn’t have to be boring and stuffy: for Alexandra Blessing, a senior at Millersville University, looking like a boss lady makes her feel like a boss. “I love wearing fun professional clothing I buy from New York & Company,” Alexandra says. “I always feel so empowered when I wear them and I feel like I can take on anything and kick butt. I'm petite, so in order to make myself stand out I usually wipe on some red lipstick.”

Even if you’re not one for wearing a full suit and heels, simply adding a sharp, tailored blazer to your look can instantly make you feel put-together and ready to take on the world!

The bottom line: when it comes down to it, looking chic is all about feeling confident and fabulous in clothes you love. When you feel good, you’ll look good—no matter what you wear!

How She Got There: Tammy Tibbetts and Christen Brandt, Co-founders of She's the First

0
0

Names: Tammy Tibbetts and Christen Brandt
Job Title and Description: Co-founders, She's the First
Age : 30, 28
College Name/Major: The College of New Jersey, Journalism; Syracuse University, Magaine Journalism & English
Website:shesthefirst.org
Twitter/Instagram Handle: @shesthefirst, @tammytibbetts, @cjbrandt

Why did you decide to start your non-profit She's the First?

TT: She's the First is a nonprofit that provides scholarships to girls in low-income countries who will be the first in their families to graduate high school. We exist because there are still 52 million girls around the world who are denied the opportunity to have a basic education, simply because of where they were born. Our vision is a world where we won't be able to find first-generation high school graduates any more, because that will be a universal right.I had the idea for She's the First back in 2009, and I wanted to launch it as a YouTube video call to action. I saw the power we had--as the social media generation--to mobilize our vast online networks to make a difference.

What does your current job at She's the First entail?

CJB: I head up all of our programming at STF, so a large part of my job is strategy around how we can make the biggest possible impact. I also do regular site visits with our international partners, so I’m often on the road!

TT: As CEO, I oversee our finances and fundraising, from grassroots campaigns to major grants, as well as our communications, which includes everyday social media, our newsletters, our Annual Report, our website, marketing collateral, etc. I’m proud to say we’ve raised more than $3.5 million to date!

What is the best part of your job?

CJB: I love watching the Scholars grow into stronger, more independent women every time I visit. It’s why we do what we do.

TT: Scrolling our social media feed is so rewarding to me, because it’s where I see that She’s the First is a movement, not just five hard-working women in an office. I’m constantly liking and commenting on posts from our campus chapters, our supporters, and our Scholars; it reminds me how fortunate I am to be part of an inspiring, diverse, global community. Together, we overcome our obstacles.

What was your first entry level job in your field and how did you get it?

CJB: We started STF while I was still in college, so for a few years, I had two careers. After graduating, I worked at Parents and at Glamour magazines while working on STF on the side. Both magazine opportunities came as a result of networking and seeking out mentors in the industry!

TT: I was the youngest web editor hired at Hearst Digital Media back in 2007, right after I became the first in my family to graduate college. I heard about the opportunity through word of mouth at my internship. Three years later, I became Seventeen magazine’s first social media editor, before diving into STF full-time in 2012.

What is one thing you wish you knew about your industry when you first started out that you now know?

CJB: As it turns out, there are quite a few people out there in the world who view running a nonprofit as a very “cute” career - especially when you’re a young woman. This is endlessly frustrating, because we run STF like a business. A good lesson here is to remember to always present your job seriously, no matter whether it’s a company you’re starting or a new job as an assistant. Don’t let anyone trivialize what you do!

TT: When I was in college, I had a journalism professor who said, “Every one of you should take a business class.” I thought, “Nah, I’m going to be a writer and editor, I don’t need to know any business.” Well, she was right and I was wrong! Even if you think you’ll be on the editorial side forever, there’s a strong chance you’re going to be an entrepreneur, either inside or outside of your company, and you will avoid a very large learning curve if you know the basics of accounting and budgeting before you graduate.

Who is one person who changed your professional life for the better?

CJB: One of our past board chairs, Lindsey Pollak, started working with us right as She’s the First was seriously starting to grow. Her job was really to steer the organization’s governance and fundraising, but I think she spent just as much time helping Tammy and me to become better, stronger leaders in our own right. When you start a company, getting intentional leadership development training can mean the difference between long-term success and failure; Lindsey invested in us, knowing that it would show in how we ran STF.

TT: There are SO many women who’ve left a huge impact on my life and career, but the first person to actually give me a job was a man, Chris Johnson, at Hearst Digital Media. When opportunities came up for me to be more than his assistant, to become the actual web editor of brand-new properties that the company was launching, he went to bat for me. He advocated on my behalf to his boss, and I’ve never forgotten how critical that was to get me where I am today. He also gave me the piece of career advice I fall back on the most, which is “Never let perfection get in the way of better.”

What is one mistake you made along the way and what did you learn from it?

CJB: In the beginning, I too often put the needs of the organization ahead of my own, whether sleep or socializing or even my personal funds. It’s a hard balance, because starting a company takes serious work and dedication - and I don’t regret either the work or the dedication. But my work-life balance is something I’ve since made a priority, and I find that I’m actually more productive, happier, and more creative when I take the time to take care of myself.

TT: After working at Hearst for three years, I actually left for less than a year, for another job opportunity at a small company. It was a mistake because I was not a fit for their company culture at all. It was a social sports league; I’m all for individual forms of fitness, like running, biking, and classes. I hate team sports! Seriously, what was I thinking. But, my job title there was Social Media Specialist, and I was good at it. I decided not to stay at the company and confided to my mentors at Hearst that I had made the wrong move. The good news is, I was hired back at Hearst as the first Social Media Editor at Seventeen! So even in mistakes (like choosing the wrong company), you can still do something right (i.e. pick the right role), and it takes you even further in the long run.

What has been the most surreal moment of your career thus far?

CJB: At this year’s Leadership Summit, we had STF Scholars and peers from three different countries in attendance: Carlota, from Peru; Angelica, from Guatemala; and Nisha, from Nepal. At one point, Nisha handed out Nepali prayer flags to the other two girls and explained their significance in her culture. As she did, Angelica translated from English to Spanish so Carlota could understand, and before I knew it, the three were discussing their cultural differences

TT: Seeing She’s the First Scholars on a Times Square billboard and ringing the Closing Bell of the New York Stock Exchange are high up on the list!

What do you look for when considering hiring someone?

CJB: One of my mentors, Denise Restauri, told me during our latest hiring process to only hire “someone smarter than you are” - and I think that’s such fantastic advice. It made me really focus in on finding someone who would make a valuable team member, instead of simply being good at the designated role. For those looking to ace an interview, I’d say to focus on exactly that: Show the company that you’d be an asset to the team at large, even outside of the role you want.

TT: THANK YOU NOTES. That’s actually such a small detail of the hiring process, but it’s a deal maker or breaker. Trust me, this gesture is quickly going extinct among younger generations, which is why I emphasize it so strongly. What thank you notes show me is that you are someone who closes the loop and follows up on what’s important to you.

What advice would you give a 20-something with similar aspirations?

CJB: Never stop learning. It’s so important not only to stay open to new ideas, but to also generate them yourself -- and the only way to do that is to constantly learn about new things. So read books, listen to podcasts, and grill your friends on their deepest philosophical thoughts. It’s the best way I know to stay creative and motivated each and every day.

TT: Know what drives you the most to jump out of bed in the morning, and stay true to that. For me, it’s empowering adolescent girls. I did that at Seventeen and I do that at She’s the First and that’s what I’ll do for the rest of my life. Don’t limit your career aspirations in terms of working in for-profit or nonprofit, because you can be fluid and make a difference by channeling the resources in any sector.

I Tried an Online Styling Service & I Ended Up Loving It

0
0

Let me preface this by saying that I am extremely picky when it comes to clothes. I would go as far as to say I am the bane of every salesperson's existence: I will go into a fitting room with 10 items and I'm lucky if I come out with one. When SuitableYou approached me to try their styling service, I was game, but I really didn't expect to like it. Well, I guess only fools never change their minds, right? This was actually an awesome experience that I totally recommend.

The service

SuitableYou is a super-cool startup founded by Gillian Brown and Crystal Calder to, in Brown's words, "provide [young women] with a working wardrobe and send them pieces that they can mix and match." The service aims to take the guesswork out of shopping by picking outfits for you. When you go to sign up for SY, you'll be asked to complete a short style survey that will help their in-house stylists create the perfect personalized box for you. "[My colleague Rachel and I] sat down and took a bunch of style surveys, and we tried to take the best questions from each, as well as creating our own that we thought were important," Brown says.

Once you've completed the survey, you sit tight until your five-item box makes its way to you. After that, you decide which pieces you want to keep and which you want to send back, and you check out on the site, where you pay a $20 styling fee plus the price of your clothes. If you keep all the items in your box, you get 20 percent off the total, and if you keep three or more, you get 10 percent. The items you keep will stay in a nifty tab called "My Closet" for you to reference. "I’ve tried all the box companies to see what all our competitors are doing, and I’d say that the biggest difference about SuitableYou is that we send you pieces that you can really mix and match with one another, and we always build on your previous boxes," Brown says about the service.

The whole process took me about five minutes, and the box arrived just a few days later. So far, so good.

The box

Each box includes five pieces that you can mix and match, as well as a free tote bag for new customers, and a personalized note that explains some of the ways you can style each piece. When I opened my box, I was pretty weary (I told you, I'm super picky!). The items didn't seem like my style at all, but SuitableYou honestly proved me wrong.

Here are my thoughts on each piece upon opening the box.

Black Lysse Ponte Leggings ($78)

Can't go wrong with black leggings! (Actually, you totally can—more on that below.)

Love Tree Suede Zip Jacket ($55)

I was a bit weirded out by the color of this jacket, as well as the flappy bits, but I liked the softness of the suede.

FRNCH Black Blazer ($60)

This blazer was fine, but could have been a touch edgier, even though I would describe my style as pretty classic.

J.O.A. Red Shimmer Blouse ($43)

Okay, I really liked this blouse, but I don't like wearing A-line clothes, because I got ~boobs~.

J.O.A. Blue Dress ($75)

I know, I know, these clothes are supposed to be workplace-friendly, but like, this was a LOT of fabric, especially around the sleeves. That said, I definitely liked it—I just didn't think it would suit me.

The outfits

Ahh, cute!! I'm always going to have a problem with A-lines, but I have to admit this top is really pretty, and I love the color. As for the leggings, for such a simple item, good leggings are definitely hard to find. This pair from Lysse was super flattering (for lack of a better term) and comfortable, and I'm super obsessed.

This is definitely a good outfit for an interview, and I like it on me, but I'm still not a big fan of the blazer.

I'm sooo conflicted about this outfit, because I straight-up LOVE how it looks on me, but I don't love either of the items individually. But I guess that's the whole point of a styling service—to make you look bangin' in clothes you didn't think you'd wear!

Conclusion

Unfortunately, even though I loved my box, it's holiday season and I'm broke AF. Read: can't afford :( Under normal circumstances, I would have gone with the leggings and red blouse, especially since everything I received was in my price range. That said, I'm so glad I did this, because this whole experience has inspired me to step out of my comfort zone. From now on, I'll be sure to try styles that I'm not used to and mix up my wardrobe! And I'll definitely be using SuitableYou again, once I have some dolla billz to work with.

We Tried the New Cinnamon Pebbles, & They’re Delicious

Cereal is pretty much the emblematic food of college. So, of course, Her Campus takes any opportunity to try new cereals to see if they pass the stuffing-your-face-at-midnight-before-your-last-final test. Good news: Cinnamon Pebbles are now an option for both your breakfast and late-night-snacking needs, and they’re very good.

They’re sweet, but not too sweet—and cinnamon-y, but not TOO cinnamon-y. Basically, this cereal has a nice, understated cinnamon flavor that’ll probably appeal to anyone, even if cinnamon isn’t usually your thing. They'll taste awesome with some milk before class, and their small size also means they’re perfect for eating dry by the handful while you’re working on homework.

This yummy new twist on Pebbles will hit store shelves in January, so you can stock up on your way back to campus after the break.

Rob Kardashian & Blac Chyna Are Fighting in Instagram Comments

The shock of Rob Kardashian’s claims that Blac Chyna took their new baby Dream and left him hasn’t even worn off yet, and there’s still more drama unfolding.

Rob’s Instagram rant continued as the pair began commenting on an Instagram pic of Dream. The picture, which was of Dream in a pink onesie giving a thumbs up, was captioned, “I really miss this girl,,, never felt so in love with someone the way I do with you Dream! Look she has her thumbs up,  never thought a woman would try to take my happiness when all I wanted was to make her Happy. Man this is awful. Closing my eyes cuz this is draining.”

But Chyna didn’t let him have the last word, commenting, “Rob stop it man ! I sent u this pic !!!!!!”

Apparently the couple decided to hash everything out on Instagram, so Kardashian replied back “@blaccyna and u texting me on my comment section on here proving my point even more. U blocked me and it’s f--ked up and I’m heart broken. I loved every inch of you.”

Since the heated exchange, the Instagram post has been deleted, along with all the others Kardashian posted about the couple’s split.

The news of the couple’s split was shocking, especially since they seemed happy the past few weeks. In fact, Chyna gifted Rob a brand new Range Rover only a week ago. Plus, the loving Instagrams posted by Kardashian made it seem like everything was going well. We can only hope that the couple sorts everything out.

Mariah Carey Throws Not-So-Subtle Shade at Ariana Grande & Demi Lovato

We all remember that time when Mariah Carey claimed that she didn't know Jennifer Lopez. Then, she went on Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live! and clarified her comments, saying that the two singers met before, but the exact moment is fuzzy because she's quite forgetful. Now, Mariah is once again throwing shade at some of the music industry's most popular singers and spilling the tea on who else she apparently doesn't know.

Appearing on WWHL! for the third time, Andy seemed to jump at the opportunity to find out which other stars Mariah doesn't know. The latest victims of Mariah's shade? Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato.

While playing a game of "Does She Know Her?" Andy asked, "Ariana Grande, do you know her?" Considering that people have been quick to compare Ariana Grande to Mimi (calling her a "mini Mariah"), one would assume that the two singers crossed paths at some point. According to Mariah, this is definitely not the case.

In addition to answering "no" to Andy's question, Mariah elaborated a bit. "Honestly I'm not familiar, I listen to hip-hop more than I listen to pop music." Yikes.

Later in the show, Andy orchestrated even more shade—this time directed at Demi Lovato—during a game of "Plead The Fifth." While playing, Andy brought up the comments Demi made months ago, when she called Mariah's treatment toward J.Lo "nasty."

"Demi Lovato, I didn't know this, she kind of shaded you on social media," Andy said. "She made assumptions about Ariana Grande, and she said, 'Mariah's a legend and she's so talented but she disses people. It's nasty the way she treats Jennifer.' What would you say to Demi?"

This prompted an eye roll from Mariah, before she responded, "I don't know her either and so I wouldn't say anything to her. She should come up, introduce herself to me, say, 'Here's my opinion, what do you think about it?' That's how you handle shit, OK?'"

Queen Mariah has spoken, everyone.

Kylie Jenner Helped Plan A Surprise Proposal This Weekend

Kylie Jenner, queen of Snapchat, Lip Kits and now proposals? Over the weekend, Jenner kept us all up to date—via Snapchat of course—on her personal assistant's proposal, which she helped plan.

Like so many members of the Kardashians' squad, personal assistant Victoria Villarroel Gamero is also a close friend. Lucky for us, we got to see the entire scheme play out on Jenner’s ever-updated Snapchat. The whole thing started with Jenner telling Gamero that they were headed on a road trip. Instead, they went to Malibu Rocky Oaks Estate Vineyards in Malibu, CA, where Gamero’s boyfriend, Marco Lobo, was waiting to get down on one knee.

Kylie didn’t reveal just how much she helped with the surprise, but boasted that she had a role in fooling Gamero. In the end, what resulted was a beautiful proposal and another notch on Jenner’s belt. Who knows, maybe she’ll help out with the wedding plans too?

Camila Cabello Claps Back at Fifth Harmony for False Statement About Her Departure

Since Fifth Harmony revealed on their Twitter page this morning that one of their members, Camila Cabello, left the group without warning, fans around the world have been waiting for a statement from Cabello herself to verify this information. I mean, what type of person just quits without giving notice?

Luckily for us, Cabello is not one of those people. According to Cosmopolitan, Camilla posted a response on Twitter, and tbh, we are a bit surprised by what it says. In the statement, Cabello reveals that the group did indeed know about her leaving and that they did not find out through one of her representatives.

"I was shocked to read the statement the Fifth Harmony account posted without my knowing. The girls were aware of my feelings through the long, much needed conversations about the future that we had [during] the tour. Saying that they were just informed through my representatives that I was 'leaving the group' is just not true," she wrote.

After thanking her fans for being incredible and for supporting her on this journey, she also revealed that she is not going to stop making music. "Next year I will be working on my own music and giving you a big chunk of my heart," she says. "I have always encouraged you to be fearless, to live your life in the name of love and to do what makes you happy... as scary as it is to take the leap, I am excited and full of joy because no matter what happens, I know that I am following my heart. I hope to see you on my journey."

Ugh so many feels. Read her full statement below.

Katy Perry is Planning Something Big & We *Need* Answers

Believe it or not, it has been three years since Katy Perry released her third album, Prism. Earlier this year, she released her latest song, "Rise," for the Olympics—but that simply wasn't enough. The world is long overdue for another album, and it looks like 2017 could be the year Katy releases something huge. Lately, Katy has been busy dropping mysterious clues on her social media accounts, alluding to a big surprise she has on the way for fans.

If you've taken a peek at Katy's Twitter profile, you'll notice that her header and profile photo are both blank. This is the first of many hints that something suspicious is happening.

Her Instagram stories have been full of more revealing hints. In a four-second video, Katy is seen in a recording studio as a track with her vocals plays in the background.

Katy also posted an additional, lengthier video showing off a piece of instrumental music.

Need more proof that Perry is cooking up something? Check out this photo posted on Instagram, which shows Kyra Gardner (makeup artist and cinematographer) and Aya Tanimura (who has worked with Katy on her past music videos):

We are officially SHOOK and need some answers ASAP.

Candice Swanepoel is Tired of Being Shamed for Breastfeeding in Public

Since giving birth to her son a few months ago, model Candice Swanepoel has been extremely open about sharing her experience as a new mother. She's posted plenty of photos of her newborn, and even posted a nude photo of herself baring her bump prior to giving birth. Now that Candice is a mother, she's become more aware of society's attitude toward women who breastfeed in public, and she's got a few things to say on the subject.

Taking to Instagram, Candice shared her thoughts on how people view her and other mothers who feed their babies in public settings.

"Many women today are shamed for breastfeeding in public, or even kicked out of public places for feeding their children," she said. "I have been made to feel the need to cover up and somewhat shy to feed my baby in public places but strangely feel nothing for the topless editorials I've done in the name of art..?"

To Candice, breastfeeding is a natural part of life, and she doesn't believe she should be scrutinized for doing it. Moreover, the fact that she's praised for going topless during a photo shoot but shamed for breastfeeding in public is an awful double standard.

"The world has been desensitized to the sexualization of the breast and to violence on tv...why should it be different when it comes to breastfeeding?" Candice added. "Breastfeeding is not sexual it's natural- Those who feel it is wrong to feed your child in public need to get educated on the benefits breastfeeding has on mother and child and intern on society as a whole."

We applaud Candice for standing up to those who shame her.

Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds Celebrated Daughter James' Birthday At Disneyland

In case you thought Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and their daughters couldn't get any more adorable than their first public family outing, they just did. After attending Ryan's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony together last week, the family continued celebrating with a trip to Disneyland on their oldest daughter James' second birthday.

Blake and Ryan headed into the park early without their daughters for a little one-on-one date time. (Couple goals, am I right?) They even got a photo with Mickey Mouse dressed as Santa Claus, because obviously. James and her lil sis met up with their parents later in the day and were reportedly spotted enjoying the rides and everything Disney has to offer as a family. Cue the chorus of "aww!"s.

This Is Why It's Not A Big Deal That Jyn from 'Rogue One' Is A Woman

0
0

It seems like Hollywood is finally starting to get it. Not only were we already excited to find out that the latest Star Wars movie, Rogue One, features a female heroine, but what the director has to say about the creation of her character is giving us faith that Hollywood is headed in the right direction, diversity-wise.

ICYMI, Rogue One's new main character, Jyn Erso, is everything we could possibly want in a female lead.

Despite the fact that Jyn is played by Felicity Jones, it turns out that the film's director, Gareth Edwards, actually set out to create a character that wouldn't be defined by her gender. As he puts it, the film's writers wanted to make a character that was simply a hero—not a "female hero."

"We tried to write Jyn as neither male nor female, as just a person," Edwards told Vulture. "Obviously, she's female, but even with the clothing, my goal with the costume department was to design clothes that I would wear as a guy on Halloween. She wouldn't look feminine, and she wouldn't look masculine—she'd be neutral. Jyn is a person who just happens to be a girl."

Edwards also notes that John Knoll, who originally wrote Jyn Erso's character, set out to create a hero his two daughters could look up to—AKA something a lot of sci-fi films are lacking.

Considering we've mostly seen straight, white, masculine heros from the Star Wars franchise thus far, Jyn Erso is a welcome change—and we're hoping this is the push Hollywood needs to add even further gender diversity and strong female roles to other major films.

7 Holiday Foods That Are Surprisingly Good For You

0

‘Tis the season for endless cookies and delicious sweets! We know it can be difficult to resist these yummy temptations, and we totally think it’s okay to indulge once in awhile. That being said, eating healthy during the holidays is easier than you might think! We’re here to share helpful tips and food ideas to keep you on the right track during this magical season.

We spoke with dietitian Joanne Larsen and she shared her top seven holiday foods that are actually good for you. “These are best in moderation, 1 average size serving,” Larsen says. Check them out below and be sure to read her expert advice as to why they’re healthy options!

1. Butter

Who doesn’t love butter? It always adds a bit of yumminess to your foods of choice, so you could say we were excited to learn it’s possibly good for us. “New research on butter shows that the fats in butter may be healthier than margarine because margarine contains partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated vegetable oils that contribute to heart disease because they may contain trans fats,” Larsen explains. Remember, moderation is key.

2. Eggnog

This classic drink is a must at almost every holiday party. And there’s always that one aunt who insists on making it spiked -- yes, please. Larsen explains, “Eggnog is basically egg + milk with some sugar and  nutmeg sprinkled on top. Egg and milk are nature's two most perfect foods in nutrient composition.” Who knew nature had “perfect foods?” Larsen suggests sticking with 5 ounces of eggnog with or without alcohol.

3. Turkey Stuffing

Every family makes their stuffing in a unique way, but this one sounds especially delicious. “Bread, veggies (celery & onion) and butter flavored with chicken broth and seasonings is like eating buttered bread.” Larsen continues, “Don't go overboard! It’s best if the stuffing is made from whole grain bread to get your B vitamins, too.” Sounds easy enough. If you’re lucky enough to help make dinner for your family, give this a try!

4. Candied Sweet Potatoes

“Yummy!” Larsen says. “These are another vegetable serving, often cooked in brown sugar and butter, but a good source of nutrients.” Did you know sweet potatoes are actually yams? They may not be as healthy as carrots, especially once we smother them in butter, but they have plenty of nutrients when cooked!

5. Green Bean Casserole

Another traditional holiday dish, green bean casserole seems to be a go-to for many families. “Make this with green beans, mushroom soup and fried mushrooms on top,” Larsen suggests. “You get two veggies and mushrooms are high in selenium, a mineral.” It may not have the fried onions on top, which some argue is the best part, but it sounds just as tasty nonetheless!

6. Latkes

“These are fried potato pancakes for Hanukkah, often served with sour cream (lower in fat per teaspoon than butter) and / or applesauce.” Larsen explains. Anything with the word “fried” in it has our attention. And dipping these in applesauce? Yes please. Larsen continues, “Did you know that 10 pounds of potatoes cooked in milk and served with cabbage have 100 percent of your RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowance)? OK you aren't going to eat that many potatoes!”  For all you potato lovers out there, challenge accepted.

7. Pie

The beautiful thing about pies is there are so many to choose from! Larsen suggests, “Pumpkin or pecan pie (in moderation which would be 1/8 slice of pie once a week).” Two of our favorite kinds for sure. Larsen continues, “Pumpkin is a vegetable like sweet potatoes while pecans contain antioxidants that prevent free radical damage to your body.” Who knew! Be sure not to pass on the pie this year, it’s doing more for your body than you think.

Aside from specific foods, we also wanted to give you a cheat sheet for this holiday season when it comes to choosing healthier options! Nevine Duncan, a Nutrition Coach at Powerhouse Gym, shares her “choose this over that” food ideas to make navigating dinner options even easier:

Choose this over that:

  • Poultry over ham
  • Salads over casseroles
  • Red wine over eggnog
  • Baked fruit desserts over pie
  • Veggies with gravy over stuffing

Red wine over eggnog? We can definitely get on board with that. Duncan also recommends, "Drinking a glass of water between drinks to keep you hydrated, full, and keep the hangovers away.” This advice can definitely be used past the holidays, too.

At the end of the day, no matter where you are or who you’re with, remember to be thankful for all that you have as we welcome this holiday season with open arms. Cheers to healthy eating and genuine times!
