Madonna Releases Star-Studded Music Video

Madonna may be 65 years old, but she can still shake it.

While the careers of some artists are short-lived, Madonna is proof that it's possible to have a successful career which spans across decades. The pop singer has been whipping out catchy tunes and controversial moments since the '80s. In an effort to stay relevant with the current music scene, Madge released the music video for her latest song, "B---h I'm Madonna." The video includes neon colors, leopard print, alcohol, and slightly inappropriate dancing—everything you'd expect from a party scene involving the biggest names in the music industry.

Within the first half of the music video, you can catch cameos from Diplo, Rita Ora, Chris Rock, and Alexander Wang. But that's not all! As Madonna moves through the party, the video cuts to a close-up of a glittery Miley Cyrus, flipping off the camera (classic Miley). Next, you can see Beyoncé striking a pose as if there's nothing to it, followed by Katy Perry showing off a few moves of her own. You can also spot an unusually enthusiastic Kanye West, before Nicki Minaj throws down her rap verse.

While some may be quick to accuse Madonna of trying to top Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" music video, it seems highly unlikely. Working around the busy schedules of A-list celebs is no easy feat, and the concept for the video was probably developed long before Taylor even dropped her music video.

To witness the craziness that ensues, check out the video for "B---h I'm Madonna" below!

An Exclusive Chat with the Cast of 'Me & Earl & the Dying Girl'

School’s out for summer, and what better way to celebrate than by going to the movies? In case you’re searching for a quirky film that will make you laugh and cry over the course of 105 minutes, look no further than Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. We caught up with the movie's stars (Thomas Mann, Olivia Cooke, and R.J. Cyler), the director, and the screenwriter during their press day in NYC to get exclusive deets on this film (which got a standing ovation at the Sundance Film Festival, no big deal).

In case you haven’t read the 2013 novel written by Jesse Andrews, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is a coming-of-age story that follows a high school senior named Greg (Thomas Mann) who is forced by his mother to befriend Rachel (Olivia Cooke), a classmate who has been diagnosed with cancer. The result is a life changing, purely platonic friendship that slowly develops between Greg and Rachel.

Although the title and synopsis may seem slightly morbid, it is a surprisingly humorous and moving film, vastly different from typical teen movies. When we spoke with Mann, he completely agreed. “I liked that it was a really funny and honest take on a serious subject,” he told us. While many might be quick to assume that this film is just another variation on The Fault In Our Stars, Andrews assured us that this is simply not the case: “I knew that this was a kind of story that gets told a lot and there's always a romance in it. I just wanted to make something that was much more about how hard it is. It's unfair to expect adults to make sense of this, let alone teenagers, so I wanted a book and then a script and movie where it's not that simple.”

Greg is a highly awkward, self-deprecating teenager whose only ambition is to blend in and get along with every clique within the chaotic world known as high school. For Mann, his character was somewhat relatable. “It’s just so much easier to live that way and just be amicable with everyone, without making real connections, so I saw a lot of myself in Greg,” he explained. In his spare time, Greg makes parody films with Earl (R.J. Cyler), an individual whom he insists on referring to as his "coworker,” despite the fact that they’ve known each other since elementary school. Similar to his character, Mann admits that he used to “make little home movies and parodies of other films” during his teenage years.

Balancing out Greg’s insecure demeanor is Earl. “I think they sort of need each other. Earl needs Greg’s stable home life, and I think Greg finds a lot of comfort and honesty in Earl. Earl is a very grounded person,” Mann said. Since this was Cyler’s first film role, he admits that the experience was initially nerve-wracking. “At first, I was nervous because everyone [in the cast] was on my Netflix instant queue,” Cyler recalled. However, he quickly bonded with Mann and Cooke, which explains why their chemistry seems so natural throughout the film. Bonding activities for the trio included an Arctic Monkeys concert, a baseball game, a “random block party,” and a boat ride. As for Cyler’s future in the film industry, you can expect to see his face more often. “I’m glad that this was my first movie. This is the best launch pad that I could have for my career, especially since I see myself doing this for a long time,” he said.

Also worth mentioning is the phenomenal performance delivered by Olivia Cooke, who portrayed a cancer-ridden teenager named Rachel in a way that was genuine and honest. This was made possible through meticulous preparation on Cooke’s part. “I wanted her to be strong, and I didn’t want anyone to look at her as victim or a tragic character,” she said. In order to deliver an authentic portrayal, Cooke committed entirely—she completely shaved her head. “I just thought it’d be really disrespectful if I didn’t,” she explained. But it wasn't easy—at first, the process was entertaining, but Cooke admitted that she shed a few tears when the reality of the situation hit her. “Feeling my scalp for the first time, I was trying not to cry, but then this bubble of scream/cry came out and I started crying,” she said. Although Cooke said she endured the stares and uncomfortable looks from strangers afterwards, she has no regrets: “It was the best thing I did to get into the role emotionally.”

Tying together the entire production is director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. Having connected with the character of Greg on a personal level, Gomez-Rejon put his heart, soul, and creativity into the film. To help Cooke better understand and connect with her character, the two spent time with a young girl who had also been dealing with the same form of leukemia that Rachel has in the movie. After speaking with the girl’s parents and doctors, Gomez-Rejon and Cooke created a chemotherapy chart, which documented the various stages of treatment. This information proved to be vital to Cooke, who drew upon the research in order to “physically and mentally prepare.” Additionally, Gomez-Rejon worked quite closely with the actors involved in the film. “He was really open and nurturing, and made us feel like everything was our idea,” said Mann. Mann added that Gomez-Rejon was also “very collaborative” and “made everyone feel as though they were part of the creative process.” Teamwork makes the dream work, right?

The end result is a film that captures a truly beautiful friendship, where Rachel helps Greg realize his full potential and artistry. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl isn’t a movie that aspires to give the audience a typical teenage love story, laced with life lessons. Rather, it explores a serious situation in a way that is humorous and endearing. While there is no blatant moral attached, Mann believes that it “tackles the selfishness and stubbornness of teenagers” through Greg’s relationship with Rachel. “It’s about learning to be selfless” and “the importance of making connections with others,” Mann added.

The movie hit theaters last week—so be sure to check out Me and Earl and the Dying Girl!

Summer is on its way, and one thing is for certain—‘tis the season for juicy, delicious watermelon! But watermelons aren’t just for picnics anymore. While the giant fruit is great to eat on its own, there are plenty of ways to get some variety beyond the slice.

1. Watermelon Agua Fresca

This Mexican twist on lemonade is the perfect thirst quencher for a hot summer day. The key is to infuse water with fruit without turning it into a slushy drink. You can also make agua fresca with other fruits, like mangos and strawberries.

Recipe from Every Day with Rachael Ray

Ingredients:

  • 8 cups of seedless watermelon cubes
  • 6 tablespoons honey or agave nectar
  • 1/3 cup fresh lime juice plus 1 sliced lime
  • A few sprigs mint or rosemary
  • Ice

Directions:

  1. Puree watermelon in blender.
  2. Strain into bowl through fine-mesh sieve.
  3. Stir in honey and lime juice.
  4. Transfer to pitcher; stir in 1-1/2 cups water, lime slices and mint.
  5. Chill; serve over ice.

2. Watermelon Popsicles

It’s a popsicle lover’s dream come true. Not only are watermelon popsicles a great way to cool down, but adding your own fresh fruit to them will also make them healthier than store-bought popsicles.

Recipe from Nourishing Meals

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups watermelon puree (about 1/4 to 1/2 a watermelon)
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh strawberries
  • 1 kiwi, peeled and sliced
  • 1 peach or nectarine, diced small
  • Handful fresh cherries, pitted and chopped

Directions:

  1. Cut the watermelon into chunks and then puree it in a blender until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Set out about 1 dozen popsicle molds (amount needed will vary depending on size of molds).
  3. Fill each one with the chopped fresh fruit. Then pour in the watermelon puree until each mold is full to the top.
  4. Place a popsicle stick into each one. Place into your freezer and freeze for about 6 to 8 hours.
  5. When ready to serve, run the popsicle molds under warm water for a few seconds and then pull each popsicle out. Enjoy!

Recipe from EatingWell

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 6 cups watermelon chunks (4-pound watermelon), seeded
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice

Directions:

  1. Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.

  3. Cover and refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour.
  4. Place watermelon and lime juice in a food processor; process until smooth.
  5. Set a sieve over a large bowl and press the puree through to remove tiny seeds. Whisk in the sugar syrup.

7. Grilled Watermelon and Tomato Salad

Yes, you read that correctly! Before you question why anyone would even think to grill something as sweet and refreshing as a slice of watermelon, give this recipe a try.

Recipe from TreeHugger

Ingredients:

  • 4 ¾-inch-thick slices of seedless watermelon
  • 4 ripe heirloom tomatoes, sliced into wedges
  • 4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 4 teaspoons aged balsamic vinegar
  • 8 small leaves fresh opal basil
  • 8 small leaves of fresh green basil
  • Maldon sea salt, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Prepare a charcoal grill outdoors for direct grilling over high heat. Or, indoors, place a grill pan over high heat until very hot.
  2. Using a 3-½-inch cookie cutter, cut the watermelon flesh into four rounds. Place on the grill grates or in grill pan, directly over the heat. Grill on one side only, until grill-marked and the melon emits a slightly smoky aroma, about 2 minutes. Transfer rounds, grill-marked sides up, to a platter.
  3. Place the tomato wedges in a large bowl and toss gently with 2 tablespoons of the olive oil. Season to taste with kosher salt, pepper and lemon juice.
  4. Place a watermelon slice, grill-marked side up, in the center of each of four appetizer plates. Top each with an equal portion of tomatoes. Drizzle each salad with 1/2 tablespoon of remaining olive oil, and top each with 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar. Garnish with opal basil, green basil and a few grains of Maldon salt and serve.

What Your Signature Fragrance Says About You

A signature scent is like a signature look—it defines your personality, style, and overall aura. Our sense of smell is extremely primal, meaning certain scents ellicit specific thoughts, memories, and reactions almost automatically. So when you're spritzing on that new perfume, consider the message you're trying to convey—as an integral part of personal branding, a scent can speak for you! With that in mind, what's your signature scent saying?

Citrus

Citrus slices

Think: Grapefruits, lemons, oranges and limes

A citrus girl is energetic, lively, bright, and fresh. Optimistic, playful, and a natural morning person, you love a good brunch date. Clean and youthful, you take your skincare routine seriously. Summery and innocently cheeky, you're flirty in a natural way, brightening up any room and energizing those around you!

Floral

Floral scent

Think: Roses, gardenias, orchids, violets—anything that can fill a bouquet

A floral girl is darlingly feminine. Enamored by the old-fashioned, a garden party is secretly your dream occasion. You're sensible and elegant, often described as an "old soul." You're an articulate advice-giver and your inherent kindness permeates both your friendships and relationships. Labeled a "good girl," you're classic and refined (but far from dull!)—your wardrobe is full of whites and blushes.

Fruity

Flowers and cherries

Think: Apples, peaches, pears, and berries

You capture the sweetness of our favorite fruits—you're bubbly and flirtatious. You embrace a berry lip and adore wine nights with the girls. You never take yourself too seriously, and serve as the life of any party you attend. While others may call you "basic" you know that you're really just a fun, pink-loving girl who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to treat herself. Cheers to that!

Green

Think: Fresh leaves and cut grass

You chose this scent because it reminds you of your days killing it on the field. You're athletic, sporty, and beautifully natural. An outdoorsy type, your ideal weekend is spent at the lake, jumping off docks and soaking up the warm sun. This scent is extremely modern and androgynous. You wear it well, rocking menswear with sophistication and style.

Aquatic

Think: Clean linens and anything oceanic, airy, and refreshing

You are crisp, clean, and cool-headed. Sushi is your food of choice and blue is by far your favorite color. You're extremely efficient and motivated, speaking most often with your actions and successes as opposed to your words.

Spicy

Think: Cinnamon, vanilla, ginger and cloves

You are glowing with warmth from the inside out. You fill your days with family, friends, hugs and laughter. Cozying up by the fire under a warm quilt to watch winter's first snowfall is your favorite tradition (preferably with your significant other). You are generous, open and extremely loving.

Oriental

Think: Amber, honey, and anything exotic

A go-getter and a trendsetter, you can be found searching your newest city for the best unknown and experimental eats. Your guilty pleasures are romance novels, preferably set in faraway places. You're sensual and seductive, and if you're quiet, totally mysterious. Well-traveled and adventurous, you're fearless and assertive. A smokey-eye is your signature look.

Woody

Think: Moss, musk, and woodsy scents

Dark coffee is your go-to. You're strong and intuitive, independent and thoughtful. A free spirit, you aren't afraid to challenge norms and stand up for what you believe in. Your natural, autumny scent is alluring and provocative.

While a scent can make an entrance and an impression all on its own, it's truely the wearer who determines the message that wafts through the air. Whatever your scent, embrace it! And if you're on a search for your next signature fragrance, consider your personality to decide what suits you best!

27 Things Every Girl Has in Her Purse

$

We've heard it again and again. When men visualize a woman's purse, they tend to describe something along the lines of Mary Poppins' magical, never-ending, possibly overstuffed handbag. Ridiculous, right? Right?

Okay, so maybe there's some truth behind the myth. Whether we're totally messy and throw everything we'd ever need into a great big pile of purse mess, or we stuff our goods in smaller, organized-by-item pouches for the neat purse look, we're probably guilty of carrying these common items around at some point or another. But hey, we like to be prepared, okay?

1. Phone

Channing Tatum Flip Phone

There's no way you can expect us not to carry around our trusty cell phone. What if there's an emergency? What if we're in a socially awkward situation and need to seem cool, important, or busy?

2. Wallet

Spongebob purses

"Isn't that just a mini-purse?", they ask. "Isn't that excessive?" No. No it is not.

3. Keys

Kanye West mad at keys

This is just another must-have. Even if it drives us crazy that we're somehow always jingling.

4. Cash

Regina George, Fendi purses

So maybe we're broke. But even if there's none stashed in our wallet, we've definitely invested (too much?) money in whatever purse we're carrying. That counts for something, right?

5. Change

Scrooge McDuck

So much loose change... and probably not in our wallets, either. Parking meters are no match for us.

6. Gift/Credit Cards

Tina Fey credit card swipe

We have no idea how much is left on this Starbucks gift card. But it sure feels great to do this.

7. Business Cards

Business Cat

We've picked these up at various networking events over the years. Will we use them? Probably not. It's the thought that counts. We're professional, alright?!

8. Receipts

Make it rain (receipts)

These are just permanent reminders of our shopping problem. And that shirt we'll never return.

9. Gum Wrappers

Chewing gum

You won't catch us litering.

10. Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer

Yes, we have three, and yes, two are probably unopened. But they were five for $5, and we couldn't pick just one delicious scent!

11. Tampons

Tampons

Probably stashed secretively. And yet, there's somehow never enough.

12. Hair Ties and Bobby Pins

Cat playing with hair tie

So THAT'S where they've all gone missing to...

13. Lip Balm

Ellen stealing lip balm

A bare necessity.

14. Mirror

Josh Peck mirror

Everyone needs to reflect sometimes. Or, you know, touch up their makeup.

15. Mints

Jennifer Lawrence spilled mints

...that we may have spilled everywhere.

16. Lotion

Victoria's Secret lotion

#JustGirlyThings.

17. Pens

Lindsey Lohan stealing a pen

Evil pens that create random pen marks all over our purse's lining. Which doctor's office did we steal these from?

18. A Pharmacy

Girl Code: What's in my purse?

Advil, allergy medicine, birth control—we've seen it all.

19. Tissues

Purse full of tissues

Trust us, you don't want to be stuck without them. And they're all clean—we're not slobs!

20. Coupons

Honey Boo Boo Coupon Queen

That free Victoria's Secret panty will be ours. As long as this hasn't expired...

21. Makeup

Makeup fairy

Because last time we checked, there aren't makeup fairies IRL.

22. Perfume

Smelling purse

Preferably in roller form. Whoops. Smells like it leaked again.

23. Band-Aids

Giant first aid kit

...in all sizes. We aren't ashamed of being prepared. Really, you just never know!

24. Headphones

Tangled headphones

...that are probably tangled. Help.

25. Snacks

Girl Code croissant in purse

Candy, an emergency granola bar, leftovers from that restaurant you just left—you name it. We go from zero to hangry real quick.

26. Mismatched Jewelry

Speechless reaction

From when we can't even with our earrings in the club and have to take them off. See that face? "Oh, maybe that's where I left the backs of these earrings!" is what she's obviously thinking.

27. Sunglasses

Oprah sunglasses

For everything from avoiding getting blinded while driving to hiding our faces after a long night out. Or, you know, just for looking fabulous.

9 Beauty Trends From the '00s We Don't Miss

$

Sometimes we like to look back at our younger selves and see how far we've come. For most of us, the early '00s were the height of our fashion and beauty exploration. Hindsight is 20/20 and when we look back at these styles, we may feel nostalgic... but we will also feel a sense of relief that we are not actively sporting these styles anymore.

1. The Pouf

It was quite handy for when you had to grow out your awkward front bangs, but in retrospect, it wasn't all too flattering.

2. Thin brows

Are your brows on fleek? If they are, we hope they do not look like a thin pencil line. These brows do nothing for anybody.

3. Crimped hair

Remember the crimper? Remember how they had different shapes you could imprint onto your hair? Well, thank goodness we don't see those on shelves next to the curling iron these days. But seriously why did we think it was okay to walk around with hair that resembled a crinkle cut fry?

4. Bedazzled braids

Dreads and braids are still around, but do you want to know what isn't? The jewels and sequins on them.

5. Frosted tips

The real question is: why was this ever acceptable?

6. Icy makeup

There's a correct way to use bright and frosty eye colors and there's a wrong way. Let's never recreate this look, okay?

7. Super fake tans

Nothing wrong with some color... until you turn out looking like an Oompa Loompa.

8. Chunky highlights

We're just glad the basic hair highlights have been upgraded over the years.

9. Sparkly hair

If Bey couldn't pull it off, we definitely can't either.

What Your Favorite Emoji Says About You

Collegiettes tend to be pretty expressive via text, typing in LOLs and OMGs.  But thanks to Apple and Android, we’re becoming even more creative through our use of emoticons. Plain smiley faces have become a thing of the past; they’ve been replaced with everything from crying cats (a personal favorite of Miley’s) to dancing twin ballerinas. With hundreds of emojis to choose from, the possibilities are endless! Why waste time typing everything out when you can have an entire conversation via emojis?

We all have that one friend who tends to throw the kiss-y face into every conversation. And your younger siblings think it’s hilarious to use the “chocolate ice cream” (aka “Pile of Poo”). Ever wondered what your favorite emojis say about you? Read on to find out!

On top of being sarcastic, you’re generally unamused when it comes to dealing with other people. You tell it how it is, even if the truth is brutally honest. Loaded with quick comebacks and plenty of eye rolls, you’re so over everything.

Kiss Mark

Although it’s reserved for crushes and close friends, the kiss is your signature mark. You have a flirtatious personality, and you aren’t afraid to show your emotions and affections. If someone is important to you, you’ll go out of your way to let him or her know.

9 Dead in South Carolina Church Shooting

A 21-year-old white male is now in custody after the shooting deaths of nine South Carolina church-goers late Wednesday night.

The gunman, Dylann Roof, opened fire at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, a historically black church in downtown Charleston, at around 9 p.m. before fleeing the scene and remaining at large for 13 hours.

At a news conference, Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen said that authorities arrived on the scene and found eight people dead inside the church. Two other victims were taken to the hospital where one of them died.

"This is a tragedy that no community should have to experience," Mullen said. "It is unfathomable that somebody would walk into a church where people are having a prayer meeting and take their lives."

Mullen says that the investigation will move forward under the assumption that the shooting was a hate crime.

"The only reason someone would walk into a church and shoot people who are praying is out of hate," he added.

According to witnesses, Roof walked into the church during and asked to join the group's bible study circle. He sat and prayed with the victims one hour before opening fire and killing six women and three men. Among those killed were state senator and pastor of the church, Rev. Clementa Pinckney, and his sister.

A relative of one of the victims shot inside the church claims that, before opening fire, Roof said, "I have to do it. You rape our women and you're taking over our country."

ABC News reported heavily armed police and FBI agents surrounding the area of the crime before all reporters were pushed back after a bomb threat was called in near the area. Charleston police say the threat ended without incident by early Thursday morning. Police later released images of the gunman on Twitter, stating that he was clean-shaven 21-year-old white male wearing a gray sweatshirt. Roof was later identified as the shooter by his uncle, who recognized him via surveillance footage.

"The more I look at him, the more I'm convinced that's him," Carson Cowles told Reuters

According to court records, Roof was arrested in Lexington County on March 2 for drug charges, and again on April 26 for trespassing. In a photo on Roof's Facebook page, he is seen wearing a jacket with patches of flags of white-ruled African states, including Rhodesia and apartheid-era South Africa. In another photo that is being shared on Twitter, Roof is seen standing in front of his car, a black Hyundai, with a license plate inscribed with the Confederate States of America logo.

Roof was arrested at a traffic stop in Shelby, N.C. late Thursday morning and is currently being interviewed by police.

Dot Scott, the president of the Charleston NAACP told the Post and Courier that Roof left one woman alive in the church so that he would have a witness recount the story to others. Police are still identifying the victims. In addition to Reverend Pinckney and his sister, another victim has been identified as Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, a mother of three and a high school track coach.

A prayer vigil was held early Thursday morning to mourn the victims who were lost in the shooting.

A Woman Will Replace Alexander Hamilton on the $10 Bill

There’s been a lot of hubbub in the media recently about potentially taking Andrew Jackson off the $20 and replacing him with a historically significant woman. It turns out that this was a bit of an overstatement, as Jackson will not be sharing his bill any time soon. Instead a woman will be replacing Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill. While placing the woman on the $10 instead of the $20 bill has disappointed some woman’s rights advocates, most are still calling this a step in the right direction.

‎”While it might not be the twenty dollar bill, make no mistake, this is a historic announcement and a big step forward,” Senator Jeanne Shaheen told The Wall Street Journal.

This will be the first time in over 100 years that a woman has been featured on U.S. paper money. Martha Washington is the only woman to have held the post for a time in the 19th century. The female to replace Hamilton is still unknown but such women as Harriet Tubman, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Rosa Parks are strong contenders. The choice will be announced later this year.

This new woman will appear at a historically significant time. 2020 is the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment. Unbelievably, we may have our first female president soon as well.

Having a woman on paper money is extremely meaningful because it gives young girls and women a historical female role model, something that is largely overlooked when it comes to the teaching of history. So collegiettes, who do you think deserves the honor of gracing the $10 bill?

Utah Valley University Invents 'Texting Lane' for Staircase

In a unique way to solve the issue of walking and texting on college campuses, Utah Valley University has created staircase lanes dedicated to those who are focused on their phones, not the hall. Creative Director, Matt Bambrough, envisioned the idea and brought it to life using a staircase in the college’s Student and Wellness Center. Using neon green paint, he split the staircase into three lanes labeled “walk,” “run” and “text.”

While the project might seem extreme to a few, student Kenzie Jones notes that UVU has a huge walking and texting issue. Since the entire campus can be crossed indoors, winter can prove to be a very claustrophobic time. Students walk and text through all the buildings, and this can clog the halls. “People just walk so slowly with phones in front of their faces,” Jones mentioned. She even recalled a story about witnessing a student, who was texting while walking, collide into another student carrying a trombone. The result sent the trombone-carrying student flying.

But most of the collisions that students notice aren’t even body-to-body contact. Instead, student Robbie Poffenberger said that he has seen more human-on-inanimate-object collisions than anything else. “They walk into barriers—chairs on the side of the hallway, or railings,” he recounts. “I’m sure they’re fairly embarrassed.”

The new staircase was created as a result of these stories. Apparently, they’re almost too commonplace at UVU. “You have 18-24 year olds walking down the hall with smartphones, you’re almost bound to run into someone somewhere; it’s something we’re dealing with in this day and age,” Bambrough told Fusion. “But (preventing collisions) isn’t the reason we did it—we did it to engage the students. It’s meant to be there for people to look at and enjoy.”

The texting lane is indeed a fun project, and Bambrough hopes that it will call students’ attentions to their addiction to their phones. He knows that there won’t be drastic changes any time soon, since this seems to be the new norm amongst the technology-obsessed generation. However, calling attention to the issue may help students learn to make an attempt to put their phones down—at least while walking through the halls.

21 'Gossip Girl' Style Moments We'll NEVER Forget

The hookups. The on-again, off-again friendships. The excess of money, power, and success that could be achieved even after dropping out of college. There are a lot of things we still remember about Gossip Girl, but the one thing we’ll never forget—the fashion! For six seasons, the show’s stars wore ensembles we could only dream of. Now, we’re counting down, in no particular order, our 21 favorite style moments.

1. Every. Uniform. Ever.

Blair and Serena were masters of the Constance uniform. Each putting their own unique spin on the mandatory dress code, they made us all want to be schoolgirls again.

2. Serena’s debut

Ms. van der Woodsen waltzed right back into life on the Upper East Side with an equestrian-inspired outfit that made her the envy of all the friends she had left behind.

3. Jenny, the early years

Let’s just get this out of the way. We still haven’t forgiven Jenny for doing you know what with you know who. Sure, she was cute during the first few seasons, but once grungy Jenny took over all hope was lost for this would-be fashionista.

4. Vanessa (that one time)

Vanessa’s style was admittedly touch-and-go for the majority of her tenure on GG, but this vibrant maxi really popped and left its mark.

5. Themes aplenty

The UES partied. A lot. So whenever those shindigs had a theme we were in for a treat. This Prohibition-style extravaganza was one of our absolute favorites for its sparkly, flapper-esque sheaths.

6. Catwalking

One of Jenny’s creations, this dress’s shape and color certainly stood out among Eleanor’s drab collection.

7. Love me?

This outfit is not so much memorable for its chic factor (not that it isn't chic!), but for the scene it comes from. To say we vividly recall Chuck’s declaration of love to Blair is a major understatement, making this look one we’ll always cherish.

8. Working woman

Blair is an inspiration for many reasons, but her office wardrobe is tops for us. Who knew shorts could be workwear? Actually, we did because, you know, Blair did it.

9. Sheer perfection

We have no words.

10. Vacay or bust

Blair’s Season 2 Hamptons getaway did wonders for her wardrobe—and ours! Suddenly her girly style was more relatable than ever and made us want to pack our bags immediately.

11. Pearls and panels and prints, oh my!

On anyone else, this dress could’ve been overkill. Put it on Serena van der Woodsen, and you’ve got a look that’s museum-worthy.

12. White clothing not optional

We didn’t realize how sophisticated a party could be if you demanded your guests go completely monochromatic. A sea of white outfits made this end-of-summer bash a smashing success, though Chuck left a sore loser. (Three words... eight letters...)

13. We’ll always have the Met steps

We have to give major props to costume designer Eric Daman, who always found a way to make Blair and Serena’s looks complimentary. No matter what the two were wearing or what type of bestie battle they were in, we never had to fear a wardrobe clash.

14. Paris is for hats

When Gossip Girl shot a portion of Season 4 in Paris, we were thrilled beyond belief. The stunning backdrops were even remarkably upstaged by the ladies’ unbelievable style shakeups. Serena in a hat? We thought we’d never see the day, but man was the wait worth it.

15. What to wear to a wedding

There were perhaps too many weddings to count during GG’s run, but no wedding look can match Blair’s pink floral masterpiece. Consider us prepared to dress without worry for all our friends’ upcoming big days.

16. Cutouts galore

Serena was the queen of cutouts, and she totally pulled them off. Especially this one, which she wore to a Sotheby’s auction. It’s not exactly what we thought one might don to attend an auction, but what do we know about fancy rich people functions?

17. Coming out at Cotillion

Season 1’s Cotillion episode gave us two of the most iconic Serena and Blair fashion moments we would ever see on the show. Now what kind of party do we have to go to if we want to dress like this?

18. Serena takes Cali

Remember when Serena moved to California to become a big time movie something or other? If anything, we loved her take on the Cali-girl look.

19. Red all over

No one has ever looked more beautiful than Blair Waldorf did in this moment. Let’s not forget that this dress provided this incomparable visual as well.

20. Wedding belle

This slightly overwhelming Georges Chakra dress wasn’t exactly what we envisioned Serena getting married in... but really, if anybody was going to wear a gilded wedding dress, it would be Serena, wouldn't it?

21. Mrs. Chuck Bass

Blair’s first wedding didn’t quite end up the way she thought it would, but her do-over with Chuck allowed her to skip the traditional white gown for this gorgeous beaded confection. We’ll just be over here drooling now, okay?

Which of these style moments was your favorite, collegiettes? And which did we forget to include?

Real Live College Guy: Four Years Later, He Hasn’t Said “I Love You”

Tired of having to sort out the “nice guys” from the “bad boys”? Want to move up from one-night stand to full-time girlfriend, but unsure of how to do so? Stop worrying, because Real Live College Guy Dale is finally here to help with all of your collegiette love kerfuffles and help steer you clear of any unnecessary drama during your brief but ever-important time in college.

I’ve been dating this military guy for 4 and a half years. When we first met, he lived only an hour away. It was still a distance, but we made it work. This past year, he was stationed halfway across the country. I wasn't able to go because I got accepted into a competitive school program. We figured I would finish school here, make long distance work, and eventually move out to join him. Here's the catch: He hasn't said, "I love you." As a result, I feel like the relationship has become stagnant, and it's even brought me to feel anger against him. So can he really expect me to up and leave once I graduate to live with him when he doesn't want to say it or show any form of commitment? He says that inviting me out there is commitment enough. Throughout this time, he knows how hesitant I’ve been about moving out there – he just thinks that him not using the three words is a bad reason for me to hesitate. Am I wrong to feel like I shouldn’t go out there? – Sincerely, Let it Go Too Far

Too Far,

I’m curious. In more than four years, he has never said “I love you”? Maybe you should reconsider if you really want to be in this relationship. You said it yourself; it’s become stagnant. It’s hard to pump up the passion from a distance, admittedly, but there’s obviously some disconnect here.

I can understand his point that even just telling you he wants you to move with him is a big gesture as is. It is! That means something! But I also understand your hesitance to move with him if he won’t even tell you he loves you. So really, neither of you are totally in the wrong.

You’re just not communicating these issues. Neither of you are.

That’s what you really need to do. This is a big move to make. The two of you need to sit down and talk about it, and you need to voice your concerns. See how he reacts to those concerns. If he shrugs them off without any reassurance, maybe you don’t actually need to move there. If he tells you why the move means so much to him, maybe you should.

What this boils down to is a lack of communication. If you two can’t even talk to each other about something this big… well, maybe that’s a sign of things to come anyway.

19 Reasons Why We Should Have Never Grown Up

$

When we were 5 years old, all we wanted to do was grow up. Little did we know that we were living the dream in a world full of play dates and park swings. Now that we’re older and it’s socially unacceptable to order a Happy Meal or wear a tutu in public, we realize how good we had it when we were kids.

1. Play dates

Nothing can compare to hours spent playing Barbies with your bestie.

2. Screaming for the ice cream truck

That signature jingle will always remind us of fudgsicles.

3. Wearing dress up clothes in public

Wait…so we can’t wear our Frozen costumes to the grocery store anymore?

4. NAPS

What we would give to have required napping built into our schedules...

5. Going to the playground

Pure joy = slides, swings and monkey bars.

6. Happy Meal toys

Except if you get a lame one, then your whole day was ruined.

7. Playing make-believe

Now we can’t switch our careers from princess to astronaut so easily.

8. Snow days

Especially if you wore your PJs inside out and backwards the night before. #winning

9. Ordering chicken fingers and/or mac & cheese every time you went to a restaurant

Never mind, we still do that.

10. The kids’ table at holiday gatherings

Once you get invited to the boring adult table, there’s no going back.

11. Throwing a temper tantrum whenever and wherever we wanted

Sometimes you just need to  have a good cry.

12. Field trips

When zoos and planetariums were essential to our learning.

13. Coloring

If we were lucky, we got the box of 64 crayons with the built-in sharpener.

14. Watching cartoons all day

Now if we watch cartoons all day, it’s probably because we’re too hungover to function.

15. Making sandcastles

Who has time to tan when you have a killer moat to build?

16. Not paying for anything

“Being broke” is something you grow into.

17. Paper fortune tellers/ M.A.S.H. R.A.P.

It was always a good day when you found out you were going to make $1 billion dollars and marry your crush.

18. Birthday parties

We went exclusively for the cake and goodie bags.

19. Cooties

Guys were a lot easier to deal with when we wanted nothing to do with them.

Why did we grow up again?

6 Healthy Summer Habits (& How to Keep Them Year-Round)

For all of us collegiettes, summer marks a clear change of rhythm. Whether you're working a job, interning, taking summer classes, traveling or just kicking back and relaxing, you're bound to have more time to do you – and the beautiful weather doesn't hurt, either. During the summer, we’re often healthier, happier versions of our school-year selves; we pick up good habits and are just all-around more relaxed. HC put together some of the things we do better May through September, as well as tips from collegiettes and experts for how to carry these good habits into our busy college schedules.

1. The habit: eating a more balanced diet

In college, irregular eating patterns are pretty much the norm. We skip breakfast, stress-eat chips and candy and often go for late-night greasy fare. But over the summer, fresh produce tends to be more readily available, and we also have extra time to prepare meals and sit down to enjoy them. In addition, with our stress levels down to a minimum, we’re less likely to snack erratically.

Sara Heath, a senior at Assumption College and a contributing writer for HC, has noticed some positive changes in her diet this summer. “I've been way more apt to eat better foods, like all of the seasonal fruits and even more veggies, as a way to stay hydrated,” Sara says. “I've been eating lots of carrots and celery just to snack on. I'm also obsessed with watermelon.”

How to carry it into the school year:

Like Sara, if you've been eating better in the past weeks, you probably want to keep it up once school comes around. “I've been feeling so much better, so I definitely want to carry [this diet] into the fall when I go back to school!” Sara says. “My biggest concern going back to school, though, is that fresh produce is kind of expensive and I have to pay for my own groceries. I'm afraid I'll go back to lots of simple carbs because they're cheaper!”

There are many ways in which your new healthy lifestyle could slip up when you go back to college, but don't worry! According to registered dietitian Nancy Clark, “you will choose to carry your good habits with you into the school year when you stay mindful of the benefits of healthful fueling and enjoyable activities.”

Remind yourself why you wanted to eat wholesome foods in the first place. “You'll realize that when you eat (and sleep and play) well, you not only feel better, but you also feel better about yourself,” Clark says. If you remember how good you felt during the summer, it should motivate you to go the extra mile to eat well during the school year, too.

But even with the right amount of motivation, eating right in college can be a real struggle. Luckily, Danielle Kemp, the dining services dietitian at the University of California, Santa Barbara, has some great tips to help you hold on to your healthier summer diet. First, an easy way to avoid eating the same things over and over is to “include different-colored fruit and vegetables to maximize your overall daily nutrition,” Kemp says. So get creative with your groceries and try something new! “It’s fun and you might find something you love,” she says.

Whether you live in the dorms or an apartment, always “aim for a colorful, balanced plate that is full of nutrients,” Kemp says. As for snacking, “it’s okay when it’s done right. Enjoy fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy and whole grains.” This is also a chance to get creative and test new combos. Kemp suggests pairing an apple with almond butter, string cheese with whole-wheat crackers or dried fruit with nuts for some homemade trail mix.

Another important tip? “If you are on the run, don’t skip breakfast,” Kemp advises. If you have a fridge, prepare overnight oats or a smoothie the night before and enjoy it on the go—emphasis on enjoy. “Don’t forget to enjoy your food,” Kemp says. “It provides our bodies with nourishment, so try to make the time to slow down and savor it.”

2. The habit: exercising regularly

Over the summer, exercising can feel more natural than forcing yourself to hit your school gym. For instance, you might go for a bike ride, a swim or a hike and not even realize you're working out! But even if you love going to the gym or doing workout videos, it's much easier to find time to do so during the summer months. You could even sign up for that yoga class you've always wanted to try!

“This summer, I've been working out regularly, which I haven't done for a while,” says Julia Flaherty, a junior at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. “Lately it's been an average of four to five days per week. It's the time I take for myself to feel good about who I am.”

How to carry it into the school year:

Our college schedules can get insane at times, but it's important to remember to incorporate exercise into your school routine. “Being physically active regulates the body in so many ways,” explains Andrew Ames, a certified personal trainer, barre instructor at the University of California, Los Angeles and creator of Butt N Gut fitness. “Fitness fuels the brain with endorphins and other chemicals that help improve overall performance, including on an exam or presentation.”

You don’t necessarily need to block off a whole hour to exercise, especially during busier times like midterms or finals. “Walking and taking stairs, even in 10-minute bouts, is far better than just sitting and studying,” Ames says. “Walk the campus while you study your flash cards, park further away and take the stairs wherever you need to go … Remember, working on your fitness doesn't mean you HAVE to go to the gym. Find something fun that gets you moving.”

Another great way to ensure you continue to exercise regularly once the summer is over is to enroll in fitness challenges. Some colleges offer programs to help you reach your fitness goals, like the team-based challenge at the University of North Georgia, or programs in which you pay a deposit that you get back upon completion, like at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. If your school doesn’t offer fitness challenges, you can use apps like MapMyRun, on which you can win prizes for completing the challenge. Workout calendars like this one are also an effective way to motivate yourself.

3. The habit: getting your beauty sleep

You know what they say – you can't sleep, study and have a social life in college. You have to choose two. But since many collegiettes skip the “study” part over the summer, sleeping is much easier to do, and the benefits are endless!

Besides feeling more energized overall, going to bed early could mean waking up earlier and being able to enjoy what the morning has to offer! Aparna Vancheswaran, a junior at the University of California at Los Angeles, says that during the school year, she never goes to sleep before 2 a.m. Since she has been able to go to bed earlier in the summer, she gets to try new breakfast recipes when she wakes up. “And I'm rather enjoying not looking like a zombie,” she says.

How to carry it into the school year:

You’ve probably noticed that when you’re sleep-deprived, everything seems more difficult. You feel sluggish, less productive, in a bad mood and more prone to mindless snacking, among other things. “Remember that your mood, your focus, your metabolism and your grades all require adequate sleep,” says Michael A. Grandner, PhD, an instructor of psychiatry and member of the Center for Sleep and Circadian Neurobiology at the University of Pennsylvania. “So it is important to make sleep a priority.”

Finding the time to sleep in college can be horribly challenging, but there are a few things you can do to make it easier. “Avoid caffeine within six hours of sleeps,” Dr. Grandner advises. “Avoid screen time in the middle of the night. Try to minimize noise and light, even if it means using an eye mask and earplugs.”

Even following these tips, chances are you won’t be able to get the recommended amount of sleep every night (between seven and nine hours, according to Dr. Grandner). In that case, “naps in the middle of the day can be a great way to recharge and make it through an afternoon of classes or work,” he says. So allow yourself that power nap, because you’ll most likely do what you need to do better afterwards anyway.

4. The habit: being a social butterfly

The summer is the perfect time to step out of your friendship comfort zone and meet new people. Whether you're home, at school or abroad, there are plenty of occasions to connect with friends of friends or total strangers.

Garance Merholz, a junior at the University of California, Los Angeles, is taking summer classes and loves making new friends. “I'm being more social!” she says. “I decided to just go for it and talk to people whenever I want. It's been pretty awesome.”

While meeting new people is lots of fun, summer is also your time to strengthen your relationships with old friends from home or from school, like Sarah Estephan, a sophomore at the University of California, Los Angeles, has done. “This summer, I've decided that I can only have positive and loving people in my life,” Sarah says. That being said, this summer has made me realize who my true friends are, and I couldn't be more thankful for them.”

How to carry it into the school year:

Unfortunately, we don't always allow ourselves quality time with our good friends during the academic year. So whenever you feel tempted to blow off your friends to get ahead on next week's homework, remind yourself that you need to prioritize people sometimes. For Sarah, spending more time with her real friends is “the only way [she] can guarantee next year will be successful.”

As for meeting other people, college campuses are full of fascinating people with lots of different backgrounds and interests. The problem is, once you've settled into a friend group, you don't necessarily feel the need to go out and meet people as much, when you could actually benefit from it a lot.

Because she’s enrolled in summer school, Garance has noticed how rewarding being more of a social butterfly can be in college. “Now I have study buddies in my classes, and I'm making new friends everywhere!” she says.

Joanne Cantor, Ph.D., the outreach director of the Center for Communication Research at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, advises: “Have fun! Don’t be a workaholic. Your work will be of higher quality – and you’ll be healthier and happier all around.”

5. The habit: finding new passions

Whether you've been meaning to make that DIY lamp you spotted on Pinterest or you dream of learning to play the guitar, summer is the perfect time to develop new skills. Kasia Jaworski, a senior at Villanova University, tried her hand at cooking last summer. “Something that I picked up last summer that I continued through the school year (and up until now!) was trying a new recipe every week,” Kasia says. “During the summer, I had the time to look through my Pinterest board and cookbooks I had and I picked out a new dinner recipe every week!”

Achieving new goals will not only spice up your summer routine, but it will also make you proud and give you skills to show off. Just do it!

How to carry it into the school year:

Hopefully you'll love your new talent so much that you won't want to give it up just because classes are starting. “I liked [cooking] so much that I did it all last year as well,” Kasia says. “The recipes don't have to be elaborate or difficult, but I wanted to try something new to switch up what I was eating week to week.”

If you love doing something enough, you should find time to do it. It will make you happier and healthier, which means you're bound to do better in school and everything else as well!

Set aside a time every few days or every week, for instance, to pursue your newly found hobby. By working it into your schedule, it won’t feel like something you can do without.

6. The habit: disconnecting from social media

Let's face it – we’re all pretty much addicted to our smartphones and social media. But in the summertime, it gets somewhat easier to not use technology all the time; we spend more face-to-face time with our friends, and we don't have to set constant reminders for all our busy-girl obligations. It's liberating to find out just how much we can get done when we’re not constantly checking Facebook.

Claudia Dimuro, a senior at New York University, finds that “during the summer, it's extremely relaxing to take time out of the day to separate yourself from your phone/any other type of social media tool.” And we couldn't agree more, but it's often easier said than done to keep that up once fall rolls around!

How to carry it into the school year:

If disconnecting from time to time is so relaxing, why don't we do it in college, too? Well, it's easy to get into the bad habit of constantly scrolling through our Instagram feed, and a boring lecture can seem like a great place to do it. But be careful! “Multitasking (checking Facebook or surfing the web, for example) while in class or while studying dumbs down your brain, makes things take longer, reduces your memory for what you're doing and makes you do a poorer job,” Cantor warns.

Concentrating is difficult, and technology can get in the way. Instead of always having your phone on hand, “turn off your alerts or leave your smartphone behind even for a short period of time,” Cantor advises. “Don't overload yourself with information or trivia from the Internet. Make sure important people can reach you in emergencies, and get back to everyone else when you have time.”

There's a reason we love the summer – life just seems so much easier with fewer obligations. We get into healthier habits, we have more fun and we feel great! That's why it's a good idea to carry your summer habits into the school year so that you can feel more relaxed in a time of high stress. So keep on doing things you love and making time for your friends and for yourself, and you'll improve every other aspect of your life in the process.

The 10 Coolest Dads on Television

$

With Father’s Day right around the corner, it’s in tradition to honor the fathers in society. This includes fathers on television, who either hold qualities of your real life father or qualities you just admire from fictional characters. It’s not something to be ashamed about if you look up to a fictional dad. Television today (and in the past) has had some fantastic and hilarious father figures—here is a list of the top 10.

1. Phil Dunphy, Modern Family

Phil is hilarious and always looks on the bright side of things. Although it’s hard to take him seriously sometimes, whenever times get tough he’s right by his family's side. Life is never boring with the Dunphy family, and Phil handles each situation with sarcasm, bad Dad jokes and tons of support.

2. Sandy Cohen, The O.C.

Sandy always has his kids’ backs, no matter what they’re going through. He is their rock and is always ready to offer a helping hand. He’s willing to drop anything at a moment's notice, as we see with Seth and Sophie, and we love how he takes Ryan in as if he were his own son.

3. Danny Tanner, Full House

Danny is the father figure on television whom you basically grew up with. He makes sure to raise DJ, Stephanie and Michelle with good morals and instincts. You never leave an episode of Full House without learning a lesson!

4. Eric Taylor, Friday Night Lights

Eric may look tough on the outside, but he has a soft heart. The way he supports his daughter, Julie (and later, Gracie) is heartwarming. He's always there to give great advice and cheer Julie on, no matter what. He may have been protective over her, but only with the best intentions.

5. Mike Heck, The Middle

One of Mike’s best qualities as a dad is his straightforwardness. He always gets right to the point with his three children: Axl, Sue and Brick. He's great at setting them on the right path in life. His children are all very different from one another, yet Mike juggles them like any good father.

6. Burt Hummel, Glee

Burt is the type of dad who will stand by and support you throughout anything. The dynamic relationship between him and his son, Kurt, is a fantastic example. Burt was always there to defend Kurt, acting as his rock and emotional support.

7. Adam Braverman, Parenthood

Adam always aims to give his family the best life possible. He’s dependable and tries his best, even throughout the financial troubles he has in life. He has a huge heart and is probably the most realistic father on this list!

4 Non-Traditional Ways to Wash Your Hair

Over the past few years, washing your hair with anything besides shampoo seems to be all the rage. From celebrities to the girl next door, everyone seems to be curious about the “no-poo” method of hair cleansing.

We now know that many traditional shampoos often act as a detergent on your strands, removing the natural oils that protect your scalp through the use of harsh sulfates. This can cause your hair to produce more oil than usual to compensate for the loss, which will continue to make your hair greasy. We’ve rounded up a few “no-poo” hair cleansers for you to try so your hair can look soft and voluminous all summer long.

1. Coca-Cola

Supermodel Suki Waterhouse recently revealed that she rinses her hair with Coca-Cola to get tousled, defined waves. To try out the trick for yourself, leave a can of Coca-Cola open overnight, then pour it over your long hair and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it out thoroughly. Then, cleanse and condition your hair as usual.

2. Baking Soda

To cleanse your hair with baking soda, simply combine a few teaspoons of baking soda with water in a spray bottle and shake to mix. Spray the mixture into your hair where you would normally use traditional shampoo. Begin the process by applying the product to your roots, then continue to gently massage it throughout your scalp. Allow the product to sit and absorb in your hair, then rinse with warm water to cleanse.

You can use the baking soda to cleanse your hair as often as you would have normally washed your hair with regular shampoo, since it won’t damage your strands while still removing dirt and excess oil. A box of baking soda often costs less than one dollar, so you’ll be able to cleanse your hair over and over again at a very affordable price.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

After cleansing your hair with baking soda, you can use apple cider vinegar in place of your conditioner. It will give you soft, shiny hair while removing product build-up, plus it's crazy affordable! Simply combine one part apple cider vinegar with one part water into a spray bottle, and use it after your natural shampoo remedy.

4. Green Tea

Another budget-friendly way to cleanse your hair is to use green tea. You can use whichever brand or type of green tea that you desire. The tea should be strong and thoroughly cooled, so allow it to seep for about an hour before use.

Once it’s cooled, pour the tea into a spray bottle, combined with about ¼ of a cup of apple cider vinegar. Allow the mixture to sit in your hair for up to 10 minutes before thoroughly rinsing your hair with lukewarm water.

How to Make DIY Tassel Bracelets

This article has been syndicated to Her Campus from Yep, it's Prep by Isabella Darden, a Her Campus Blogger Network member. Read the full post here.

I've seen tassel bracelets on Instagram, Etsy, and Tumblr lately, and I really wanted some. The problem was, I didn't want to pay $20 for a bracelet I could make myself! After doing a little research and hitting up the local craft store with my friends, I was ready to do some afternoon crafting. I have decided to share how to make them with you all!

First, I'm going to explain how to tie a tassel. Obviously, this step is important because they are tassel bracelets.

For the tassel, you will need:

  • Embroidery thread

  • A credit card

  • Scissors

  • 5mm Jump rings

Step one: Choose the color embroidery thread you want. Cut two 12" pieces of it and lay them to the side for later use.

Step two: Find a credit card or a gift card! This is what you'll be wrapping the rest of the thread around. The bigger the card, the longer the tassel will be.

Step three: Begin wrapping the thread around the card. Do this relatively tightly and keep the string close together.

Step four: Continue doing this until you've used the remainder of your embroidery thread!

Step five: Cut the thread along one edge of the card.

Step six: Carefully slide the thread off of the card, making sure that all of the threads stay together.

Step seven: Unfold the threads and lay them flat. Take one of the 12" pieces you set aside earlier and put a jump ring on the center of it.

Step eight: Wrap the 12" strand with the jump ring attached around the center of your threads tightly, keeping the jump ring in the center.

Step nine: Tie the ends together after you're done wrapping them.

Step ten: Fold your tassel in half, jump ring facing up. Use the other 12" piece of string to wrap around the top of the tassel tightly, and then knot and trim the excess thread.

Step eleven: Trim the ends of your tassel so it looks uniformed and even.

Step twelve: Admire your pretty tassel.

Disney movies are meant to teach children lessons, but those lessons aren’t always applicable to real life. While we love re-watching these classic films, now that we’re older we recognize that a lot of the logic is flawed. Can you say unrealistic expectations?

We’ve listed 10 of the biggest lies Disney has told, along with the more accurate truths behind them.

Lie #1: Any problem can be solved in the span of a 3-minute song.

Reality: It usually takes a bit more time—and work—than that.

Lie #2: Bad people always look like villains.

Reality: You should never judge a book by its cover.

Lie #3: Women need a man to save them.

Reality: Women are their own heroes.

Lie #4: It’s easy to find a pair of shoes that fit.

Reality: You’ll try on 5 pairs of heels and still won’t be able to walk in them.

Lie #5: Putting on makeup is a breeze.

Reality: Not so much.

Lie #6: There will always be a few animal friends around to help you.

Reality: Sadly, animals can’t talk. They can cuddle, though!

Lie #7: Women should have tiny waists and small appetites.

Reality: Girls love food, and that’s ok.

Lie #8: Your first kiss is guaranteed to be magical.

Reality: First kisses are usually really awkward.

Lie #9: Unconventional families consist of evil stepmothers and/or stepsisters.

Reality: Family is family, no matter who it’s made up of.

Lie #10: Growing up is always a bad thing.

Reality: You can still be a kid at heart.
