Creativity and out-of-the-box manicures become super popular during the Halloween season, and as the holiday approaches, we're seeing inspo pop up all over Pinterest and Instagram. The only issue? Many aren't always achievable without the help of a nail artist. Being able to create your dream nail art at home (and without tons of fancy tools or skills) is so helpful in keeping the season stress-free. We rounded up ten of the best (actually) DIY Halloween nail art ideas from Instagram to keep your nails pretty and in season, without the stress or cost.

1. Fall Glam Nails

This nail look might seem complex, but with three colors and one little leaf design, it ends up being one of the prettiest. The sweet leaf design can be made by pressing your regular nail brush down into triangular shapes until you get the look you want! Use a Q-tip to make the gold polka dots. You can even switch up the color scheme and design to make this last through the rest of fall or even the entire holiday season.

2. Halloween Variety Nails

If you can’t decide on just one nail DIY, this look has five-in-one, and each is relatively simple. From confetti to a simple pumpkin to a witch's hat, this look is one you can vary based on your own skills, the colors of polish you have available, and what you like.

3. Spiderwebs

Choose any dark color and layer white lines in a spiderweb shape to create a creepy fall look. Don’t have a thin nail brush? Just use a toothpick dipped in white polish. For a variation on this look, add a little spider using a Q-tip and some black polish.

4. Ghost Nails

Black and white are two staple colors in anyone’s polish collection, so chances are you already have these on hand. Paint all of your nails black (or another dark shade) and then on the accent nail of your choice, add a simple white ghost. Make it as cute or spooky as you like!

5. Fall Patterns

Simple fall color staples like white, maroon and glittery copper-orange come together with an easy, customizable zig-zag pattern for an elegant and cute nail look! This one could last you through the whole month of October without being over-the-top.

6. Frankenstein Nails

Frankenstein comes to life in this bright green nail look. People will instantly recognize who your nails represent and this look will definitely spark up a conversation. Classic horror stories have shaped our celebrations of Halloween every year, and paying homage to a classic like this is always a good choice. Use a toothpick or thin brush to make stitches and you’re all set. This is probably easier than a French nail because the lines can wobble and go in any direction you like.

7. Spiders

A bright orange polish makes the perfect backdrop for Halloween spider nails. The key to a nail look being simple and easy to achieve? Being able to break the design down into simple shapes and knowing what you already have that can create those shapes. For these spiders, just like the looks above, a Q-tip and toothpick can create the shapes in a flash.

8. Halloween Stripes

A post shared by Ramie (@lifeisnails) on

Let’s be real: Stripes are always a good look. These striped nails are festive through alternating Halloween nail colors of your choice, and even if they become a little wobbly, they’ll still look amazing! Vary the direction, colors or shape of the lines for an easy accent nail.

9. Jack-O-Lanterns

Jack-O-Lanterns and pumpkins are cute as is, but transform them into a sparkly nail look and you are all set for Halloween. You can choose what your Jack-O-Lantern’s facial expressions are and make the shapes accordingly. If you would rather have just pumpkins, eliminate the facial expressions and add a few green leaves and a stem at the top of your nail.

10. Glittery Candy Corn Nails

A post shared by Ramie (@lifeisnails) on

This design is beautiful and can be as easy as you make it. Simplify this look a few notches by painting your whole nail white and layering sparkly yellow and orange on top. To create the original look shown here, paint the look, add sparkles and outline with black for an extra pop.

Halloween is the best time to show your creativity in beauty and make-up. Have fun jazzing up any outfit with one of these nail designs!

Cleansing Your Face With Oil Is a Thing – Here's How to Do It

Our pores might already secrete a natural oil that would make dining hall pizza jealous, so it's too bad we can’t use our sebum as a self-serving facial cleanser. However, there’s a longtime favorite beauty product college women are just now starting to pick up on that has us raising our contoured brows: cleansing oil.

Yep, oils can make you fresh-faced without lathering like traditional face cleansers. While it can be borderline impossible to navigate the world of skincare because beauty trends are ever-changing, cleansing oils have been around for several years, and they're slowly starting to seep into college vanities.

So, WTF is a cleansing oil?

Seeing as a lot of cleansing oils have antioxidants and a variety of other epidermis-boosting ingredients, these oils work to replace the harmful oils that can make your skin break out and simultaneously revitalize your flesh with good-for-you oils.

Since cleansing oils don't foam like typical facial cleansers, they're less harsh and irritating on your skin, which makes them the perfect product for sensitive skin. Heather Wilson Esthetician and Director of Brand Development at InstaNatural says, "Cleansing oils are a gentle and effective way of cleansing the skin without causing dryness or stripping. The oils on our skin and in our makeup are dissolved easier by an oil and the theory behind oil cleansers is that 'like attracts like.' The oils in the cleanser attach and breakdown the excess oil, dirt, and makeup on the skin – allowing you to rinse them away easily."

Most oil cleanser can substitute your typical face soap; however, some cleansing oils can also take off your makeup and clean your skin, so you don’t have to go through that extra step of using a makeup removing wipe. Granted, if you love your wipes, then don’t sacrifice that critical step in your self-care routine, but streamlining our skincare regime could give us another five minutes for our daily sob sessions.

Related: Why You Need to Start Using a Face Oil

What are the different types of cleansing oils?

Wilson notes that there are a variety of different oil cleansing concoctions, however, many cleansing oils can leave an oily residue and can lead to further breakouts depending on your skin. Wilson adds, "Every cleansing oil will have a unique formula and may be designed to target different skin types or concerns. Different oils will create different textures and you can blend a variety of extracts and essential oils for even more enhanced results. However, some cleansing oils do not contain the ingredients necessary to rinse cleanly from the skin – and often times this results in a product that feels like it leaves a reside on the skin."

"More importantly, while the feeling of a residue isn’t pleasant, it is also not allowing the dirt and oil to be fully rinsed from the skin, which can later cause breakouts or blackheads. So while there are plenty of formulas and options to best suit everyone’s skin type, it is important to find an oil cleanser that truly cleanses the skin," she expands.

Conversely, Wilson mentions that individuals with dryer skin might like cleansing oils more. "Those with drier skin types might enjoy the highly moisturized feeling that an oil cleanser leaves behind. Either way are effective and appropriate ways to use a cleansing oil," she says. After all, that oily residue can leave your skin feeling more hydrating if your skin is in need of a moisture SOS.

In other words, it could take you awhile to find the cleansing oil of your dreams.

Charcoal-based cleansing oils

Charcoal cleansing oils often have properties that can remove your makeup as well as dirt, grime, sweat and other daily secretions. Because it also works to exfoliate your skin as it cleans, you might want to use this product in rotation with another cleanser or cleansing oil. After all, exfoliation can be a rather drying process, even with the active oils in this product. Depending on how dry your natural skin texture is, it can have a dehydrating or dulling impact on your skin.

As someone who personally using this same charcoal cleansing oil in their skincare routine, it can help regulate acne-prone skin (like mine) because of the active charcoal in it. Personally, I use it twice a week so it don't dry out my skin and lock in my freshly cleaned skin with a sensitive aloe toner. FYI, charcoal cleansing oils are a skin trifecta, IMO. After all, they do help prevent skin ghouls, remove your makeup and clean your skin. (Your bar soap is quaking.)

Micellar cleansing oils

Micellar cleansing oils are similar to micellar water. As the name suggest, these cleansers use oil instead of the water-soluble base ingredient in micellar water. The active micelles attract dirt, oil and makeup to make sure your skin is clean. Because this concoction has oil in it, it ensures that your skin doesn’t become too dry from the pseudo-magnetic properties in the micelles.

Are there any other types besides charcoal and micellar?

Hydrating cleansing oils

Even if your skin is typically oily, winter is coming, which also means our skin is on the brink of becoming dry and flaky. While charcoal-based cleansers can exfoliate your skin (i.e. make it even dryer if you plan to use a cleansing oil daily), hydrating options typically incorporate oils that not only cleans your skin but add a moisture barrier so you don't lose your natural radiance.

How can I get the most out of my cleansing oil?

Your first inclination when using any soap, cleanser, or skincare solution might be to wet your face before you start gently massaging your cleanser on your skin. However, cleansing oils work best when you work them onto completely dry skin. We get it: This goes against every beauty aficionado ever. But we promise this isn’t heresy. Since oil and water don’t homogeneously mix, if you wet your skin then the oil can’t properly still to your face. If the oil can’t stick to your skin, then you can end up with some neglected spots in your cleansing routine—and that post-cleansing-still-grimy feeling is never a good mood.

Ultimately the type of cleansing oil and how your use it boils down to your skin desires and needs. "Depending on your skin type you can use oil cleansers  in a variety of ways, but it really comes down to preference," Wilson notes.

However, if you have naturally oily skin, you might want to use cleansing oils as a precursor to your actual cleanser. Wilson suggests, "Those with oilier skin types might prefer to use a cleansing oil as a pre-cleanse and follow with a second cleanse using a targeted treatment cleanser (such as a Glycolic Cleanser to help with pore size). Those with drier skin types might enjoy the highly moisturized feeling that an oil cleanser leaves behind. Either way are effective and appropriate ways to use a cleansing oil."

Wilson adds, "Pre-cleansing the skin with a cleansing oil will allow you to remove excess oil and makeup before your targeted cleanser goes to work. This means that your targeted cleanser will be treating the skin more effectively and your overall result will be more effective." This way you can remove all the dirt and makeup from your face without risking breakouts or additional oil buildup. Granted, it can take some trial and error before you figure out if using cleansing oils as your go-to cleanser vs. a cleansing predecessor will work best for you.

But before you put oil to skin, make sure your shake your cleansing oil thoroughly. Many oil cleansers are rich in skin-boosting sediments, from charcoal to chia seed dust, so you want to make sure you actually get some of those active ingredients with every pump.

Beyond that, it’s really up to you and your personal skin-defying desires on whether you want to replace your face soap entirely with cleansing oils, use these cleansing oils on business days only, or slather your entire body in cleansing oils (OK, washing your entire body with cleansing oils sounds like a shower safety hazard, so maybe don’t do that).

Still, cleansing oils are a hydrating cleanser option, which makes them perfect for those dry, winter months. Next time you’re on the hunt for a new product, try some cleansing oils or talk to your dermatologist to create a specific plan for your new, oily skincare recruit.

President Trump Says He Likes Taylor Swift's Music '25 Percent Less' After She Endorsed a Tennessee Democrat

President Trump is not here for Taylor Swift speaking out about her political views. After the pop star denounced Marsha Blackburn, a Trump-endorsed Republican running for re-election in the House of Representatives in Tennessee, the president apparently likes Swift's music less

After a reporter told Trump about Swift's opposition to Blackburn on Monday, he responding by saying "I'm sure Taylor Swift has nothing or doesn't know anything about her."

Trump continued, "Let's say that I like Taylor's music about 25 percent less now, okay?"

Swift hasn't responded, but that's likely because Trump was just one of the many who's commented on her recent political declaration. In an Instagram post on Sunday, Swift not only criticized Blackburn's stances and voting record when it comes to women's rights, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and more, but she also explained why she's remained silent about politics in recent years.

"In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now," she wrote. "I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country."

I’m writing this post about the upcoming midterm elections on November 6th, in which I’ll be voting in the state of Tennessee. In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now. I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent. I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love. Running for Senate in the state of Tennessee is a woman named Marsha Blackburn. As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn. Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values. I will be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives. Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway. So many intelligent, thoughtful, self-possessed people have turned 18 in the past two years and now have the right and privilege to make their vote count. But first you need to register, which is quick and easy to do. October 9th is the LAST DAY to register to vote in the state of TN. Go to vote.org and you can find all the info. Happy Voting! 🗳😃🌈

A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on

Swift continued, "As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn. Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me."

She added that she'll instead be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for the House of Representatives. Swift urged her followers to educate themselves on the candidates running in their states, and to vote based on who represents their values.

'Shameless' is Losing Another Cast Member

Cameron Monaghan revealed he's leaving the long-running Showtime comedy Shameless on Monday — just a little over a month after the show's lead, Emmy Rossum, made the same announcement

"I have been a series regular on this show for roughly ten years. I was the tender age of fifteen when we shot the pilot, and I came of age in so many ways, both legally and personally," Monaghan wrote alongside a series of photos on Instagram. "I was very lucky to mature and grow with this show. Experiencing so many firsts, maturing as an actor, a professional, and a human. In the process gaining friends, family, and the best coworkers a very lucky actor could ask for, and for this I can be nothing but gracious."

The actor continued, "All good things come to an end. An old cliche, but one that rings true with a sincerity and clarity especially in moments like these. Everything ends."

An old cliche, but one that rings true with a sincerity and clarity especially in moments like these. Everything ends. The next episode will be my last. I have known since last year, but I didn’t want to give it away too early as I wanted this season to be a surprise for the audience, allowing them to experience Ian’s unsure journey with his character. This role has been a joy to inhabit, a wild and special ride, and I’d like to thank #Shameless as well as you, the viewers, for being there with him. Goodbye, Ian Clayton Gallagher. We’ll meet again?

A post shared by Cameron Monaghan (@cameronmonaghan) on

Here's the kicker — the next episode of Shameless is Monaghan's last.

"I have known since last year, but I didn't want to give it away too early as I wanted this season to be a surprise for the audience, allowing them to experience Ian's unsure journey with his character," he wrote. "This role has been a joy to inhabit, a wild and special ride, and I'd like to thank #Shameless as well as you, the viewers, for being there with him. Goodbye, Ian Clayton Gallagher. We'll meet again?"

In Rossum's announcement, she also hinted that she could potentially return to the show at some point.

"I know you will continue on without me, for now," she wrote on Facebook at the end of August. "There is much more Gallagher story to be told. I will always be rooting for my family. Try not to think of me as gone, just think of me as moving down the block."

Rossum didn't reveal her exit date, so what will serve as her last episode of Shameless is currently unknown. Read her full announcement here

The White House Held A Ceremonial Swearing-In For Kavanaugh, Where Trump Apologized 'On Behalf Of The Nation'

Brett Kavanaugh was officially sworn-in as a Supreme Court justice over the weekend, but the White House hosted a ceremonial event on Monday, where President Trump apologized to the judge "for the terrible pain and suffering" that he and his family endured throughout the confirmation process. Trump even said that Kavanaugh was "proven innocent" of the sexual assault allegations made against him.

"Those who step forward to serve our country deserve a fair and dignified evaluation, not a campaign of political and personal destruction based on lies and deception," Trump said to members of the press, Congress, and Kavanaugh and his family, among others.

To Trump, the events of the confirmation process "violated every notion of fairness, decency and due process."

"You sir, under historic scrutiny, were proven innocent," Trump said. According to CNN, the FBI probe that was conducted into the allegations against Kavanaugh "found no corroboration." However, some claim that there was never a "full" investigation.

When it was Kavanaugh's turn to speak in the East Room on Monday, he said that the confirmation process "tested" him, but "it did not change me. My approach to judging remains the same."

"I take this office with gratitude and no bitterness," Kavanaugh said. "On the Supreme Court I will seek to be a force for stability and unity."

He also announced that he's hired a group of all-women clerks, an apparent first in the history of the Supreme Court.

The 11 Costumes You'll See at a College Halloween Party

$

In college, Halloween is a week of fun, partying and getting the chance to be someone other than yourself for a change. The ultimate goal is to dress as something unique that no one else at the party will be. Some people, however, don't exactly get the memo. Keep reading for a list of the 11 Halloween costumes you're guaranteed to see at any and every college party.

1. The Cat

We're convinced that cat costumes are for those who couldn't care less about Halloween. They either don't care enough about the holiday to plan an actual costume, or they procrastinate, and when Oct. 31 comes around, they're so antsy to get drunk that they throw on the nearest scrap of fabric and cat ears and call it a night. This costume is typically worn by those who are, in layman's terms, basic.

2. The Main Character From a Hit TV Series

Whether it's the Liars, Khaleesi, Dexter or Leslie Knope, when people like a TV show, they find it necessary to dress up as one of the main characters. Expect at least six people at your party this year to be dressed as the main character of whatever the most popular TV show is around Halloween 2018.

3. The Solo Cup

This dude loves inconvenient costumes and really loves the attention that comes with them. His likes include beer pong (obviously), being shirtless and pushing through the crowded dance floor, making everyone else tumble to the ground and have no choice but to notice him.

4. The Risky BusinessCostume

Similar to the cat costume, the Risky Business costume is generally worn by basics. It requires little to no effort and is almost always worn by those who haven't actually seen the movie. "Wait, there's a movie?"

5. The Sexy [Insert Literally Anything Here]

Want to go as a sexy beer can? Sure. What about sexy Skittles? No problem. Sexy iPod? Yeah, that can be a thing! All it takes is a tight dress, sometimes made out of duct tape if you're into that kind of thing and a logo on the front. You can be anything your heart desires with a trip to Michaels and a good printer.

6. The Literal Costume

This guy is all about the irony. He's a total goofball, and his goal of the night is to make people laugh. When a literal costume is as elaborate as the picture above, it's a great costume, but literal costumes can often be a failed attempt at wit and will produce many an eye roll. The same guy has also been seen going as a "pothead" by wearing an actual pot on his head at past Halloween parties.

7. The Creeper Costume

The creeper costume is always worn by an equally creepy dude. He just came to the party to get with girls and, ironically enough, his costume is doing the exact opposite of its intended purpose. Ladies, keep your distance from the "Free Mammograms" guy. He's not a real doctor.

8. The Non-Costume

Costumes like this are for the guys who are too cool to care. Hipster, intellectual, maturewhatever this dude calls himself, he sucks. Yeah, the non-costume can be funny if done like our boy Jim Halpert, but what's the point of Halloween if you're going to be boring and dress normally? Come onit only happens once a year, everyone dresses up and, as Cady Heron once said, "You'd better be one of them, biotch."

9. The Costume Nobody Gets

There's always someone at the party who wants to flaunt her intellectual side and show that she's above the typical and childish costume choices that most college kids are into. And there are always drunk people who straight up don't get it. Most conversations overheard between a person wearing this costume and a drunk partygoer go as follows:

Drunk: "Like, what are you?"

Intellectual:"A Freudian slip."

Drunk: *Stares blankly*

Intellectual: *Stares blankly*

Drunk: *Burps then walks away*

10. The Buzzed LightBeer

This costume is for BROOOOs. If you don't bro out as hard as this bro, then go home. This bro wants everyone around him to know that he drinks alcohol. And he drinks a lot of it, often. He can pound tons of beers. You only drank eight beers? That may as well be like drinking water.

11. The Costume That Ruins Your Childhood Memories

At every party, you're always graced with the girls who choose a beloved childhood character, such as a Disney Princess, a Rugrat (Yes, we've seen "sexy" Chuckie before) or even Mario and Luigi and wear lingerie in relevant colors to try and pass as said characters. We personally don’t remember Mario or Luigi wearing sparkly bras in Super Smash Bros. That must be in the newer version.

HC Wake-Up Call: Cop Who Killed Tamir Rice Gets New Job, Hurricane Michael, & Google+ Shutdown

Good morning Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds—we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

Former Cleveland Cop Who Fatally Shot Tamir Rice Has New Job

Timothy Loehmann, the former Cleveland patrol officer who fatally shot 12-year-old Tamir Rice in 2014, has been hired by a police department in a small Ohio village. According to The New York Times, the shooting "intensified national outrage over the killing of unarmed black men and boys," but Loehmann was never charged for Tamir's death. However, he was fired from the Cleveland Police Department last year, after it was discovered that he lied on his job application.

Now, Loehmann be working for the Bellaire Police Department, which resides over a community of around 4,000 people. The NYT reported that Richard Flanagan, the Bellaire police chief, "had no concerns" about hiring Loehmann. "He was cleared of any and all wrongdoing," Flanagan told Ohio's The Times Leader, adding that it was unfair to "crucify" him and that it's "over and done with.

Tamir's mother, Samaria Rice, told The Daily Beast that hearing the news that Loehmann had been hired put her "in a state of shock." She's taking action, though — in the form of a letter-writing and call-in campaign, where people will contact the town of Bellaire to hopefully get Loehmann's job offer rescinded. "How could anyone even consider putting him on a police force?" Rice said. "That police chief is putting his own people in danger."

Hurricane Michael Dubbed "Extremely Dangerous" as it Moves Toward Florida

People in parts of the Gulf Coast of Florida are preparing for a big storm as Hurricane Michael — which is expected to become a "major hurricane" by Tuesday, according to the National Hurricane Center— heads inland. Florida Governor Rick Scott has already declared a state of emergency, saying on Monday night that "making decisions tomorrow might be too late."

Three Florida Panhandle counties also issued mandatory evacuation orders, and Florida State University will be closed from Tuesday through Thursday this week. "Take this seriously and keep your family safe," Scott said. "We know that a storm like Michael can be devastating and deadly."

Current projections show that Michael could make landfall as a Category 3 hurricane with winds around 111 MPH. The Weather Channel's Rick Knabb said that Michael "could be one of the worst hurricanes to ever strike the Florida Big Bend and Florida Panhandle region."

Google+ is Shooting Down After a Security Lapse

Google announced on Monday that its shutting down social network Google+ for consumer use after news broke that the company reportedly failed to reveal a security breach that affected hundreds of thousands of accounts. Ben Smith, Google's VP of engineering, detailed the "bug" that exposed user information in a blog post. According to Smith, the company "discovered and immediately patched" the bug, which also didn't lead to the misuse of any data.

However, The Wall Street Journal reported that Google executives purposely avoided disclosing the problem when they initially detected it back in March. The company was allegedly concerned over potential comparisons to Facebook's massive data leak to Cambridge Analytica, a data firm that was accused of improperly using the information of 87 million Facebook users on behalf of Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.

Google didn't comment on the WSJ's report, or explain why they waited to address the bug.

You Can Terrify Your BFFs By Sending Them Donuts Via Clown

I guess we really can’t have nice things now, huh? We can’t just have donuts delivered to us without there being some terrifying aspect, right? October is one of the best months, filled with candy, bright leaf colors and costume parties, but it also stands to be the one that puts everyone on constant edge. Wonder why? Maybe it’s because we have places like Hurts Donuts which lets people hire a clown to deliver donuts to those they wish to terrorize. This could be fun.

Hurts Donuts opened its first shop in Springfield, Missouri in 2013. 5 years later they are truly making their mark. Their website advertises themselves as the “rebel of all donuts.” The donuts made there are truly bizarre and creative. Some of the flavors include cotton candy, andes mint, s'mores and maple bacon. Each month they introduce even more out-there concoctions which mesmerize all donut lovers.

Image via Hurts Donuts

Now, you can get a box of these delicacies at the hand of a spine-chilling clown. If you’re looking to hire this menacing delivery guy for your special someone, look through the Facebook pages of their 19 shops. The stores can only be found in Missouri, Colorado, Wisconsin, Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Arkansas.

You have to do a little digging to find the times and locations available for this friendly guy. Some areas have one specific day, while in Springfield the clown is accessible Monday-Friday for all of October. How kind of them.

According to Bustle, the cost to send your friends back to their childhood nightmares is only $5 (plus the cost of the donuts)! What a steal.

I truly thought we had moved past this frenzy after the Clown Panic of 2016. I would go as far to call it the Clown Epidemic of 2016. Those videos were down right paralyzing to watch. However, the use of clowns to keep people in line will never go away I guess.

So, if you want to avoid this surprise visitor, may I suggest telling every single frenemy and friend you have that you are either allergic to donuts or despise them. I hope you will all be spared. Stay alert my friends.

Are you a person that likes to try somewhat strange and out-there food concoctions? Do you also have a slight addiction to wasabi? Then, this new beer might be the one for you.

Firebox, a site where you can find very niche gifts and gadgets, has launched a unique new flavor of beer: wasabi. Their website says that they, “don’t take life too seriously,” and it definitely shows in their inventive and eccentric creations, like spreadable whiskey

Anyways, this wasabi beer is perfect for anyone looking to give their taste buds a trip. The Japanese horseradish craze is real, and Firebox is capitalizing on it. The beer is brewed in Japan by Niigata Beer, and is infused with real wasabi. It is available online by bottle, but sadly only in the U.K for now.

Don’t panic though, if your heart is now set on trying some wasabi beer, there might be a little hope. Dogfish Head Craft Brewery created their own version of wasabi beer back in 2014, called Rosabi.

Image via Dogfish Head

Their kind is brewed with hops, malts, louisiana rice and the golden ticket, wasabi. However, this beer is also sold sparingly. If you’re seriously dying to get your hands on some of it though, it is sold on Mel & Rose for $28. This is definitely a bit steep — but hey, there’s no judgement here.

If you’ve been sold on the mission of Firebox though, there is a whole page dedicated to products they can ship to the U.S. Some of these include prosecco bath bombs, bread slippers, and a "make it rain" money gun. So, you might be missing out on some authentic wasabi beer, but there is still hope to be found on this site.

Check out the Dogfish Rosabi— and if you’re passionate enough for the cause—blow up their email account with a strong argument for bringing it back. Or, better yet, use this excuse to buy yourself a trip to the U.K to indulge in this boozey palate cleanser.

Nikki Haley Has Reportedly Resigned As Ambassador To The UN

United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley will be leaving her position at the end of the year, according to CNBC. Haley made the announcement alongside President Donald Trump on Tuesday morning, leading to the latest jolt to Trump’s national security team.

A source inside the State Department told ABC that Haley had been discussing her intention to resign before the announcement. Haley has spent the last two years advancing the Trump administration’s foreign policy initiatives including decreasing the role of the United States within the United Nations. Haley noted some of her accomplishments during her time with the administration, like nuclear discussions with North Korea and stricter policies with Iran. “Now the United States is respected,” Haley said reflecting on her time as ambassador. “Countries might not like what we do, but they respect what we do.”

Trump notified the public via Twitter that the former governor of South Carolina and himself would be making a “big announcement” ten minutes before it was set to take place. The president, however, has yet to indicate who Haley’s successor will be, CNBC reported.

Known for some of her disagreements with Trump, Haley adamantly insisted that she did not write the anonymous The New York Times op-ed from a “senior Trump administration official” that went viral for it’s critiques of Trump. She even wrote a column for The Washington Postdetailing how she challenged the president directly instead of hiding behind anonymity.

Haley’s departure follows the trend that many have picked up on within Trump’s administration. ABC noted that Haley is one of many to leave Trump’s team after 2 years or less.

6 Things You're Not Currently Doing That Could Save You Money

$

Too often, students are quick to pawn off their financial woes on their future selves. I know that I’ve gone on a Goodwill shopping spree and told myself that the resulting bill would be “future me’s problem.” Though that tactic may work in the short-term, thinking about finances isn’t something that should be pushed to the wayside.

According to the Institute for College Access and Success, “68% of seniors who graduated from public and nonprofit colleges in 2015 had student loan debt, with an average of $30,100 per budgeter.”

If so many collegiettes are taking out loans for school and acquiring debt, why aren’t we trying harder to save money?

Depending on your income, putting money aside into a savings account may not be easy. The first step in being able to do so is ultimately learning how to manage your income.

To help you learn some financial tips and tricks, we sat down with Anthony ONeal, bestselling author of The Graduate Survival Guide, to discuss actions that may be able to help you save money.

1. Start a budget

The word ‘budget’ can be scary, but it’s nothing to be afraid of. Essentially, making a budget is just a way to outline your spending habits. Even though the act of budgeting won’t explicitly save you money, it will make you aware of where you may be overspending or under-estimating the amount you think you’re spending.

“List all of your expenses ... gas, food, movie tickets, rent, clothes, savings for a large purchase – everything you can think of,” ONeal says. “Subtract all of it from your income. When you finish subtracting from your income, it should equal zero. If the total of your expenses is larger than your income, find ways to cut back or figure out how to make some extra money.”

When making your budget, you may find that it’s easier to write out your expenses in a notebook rather than on a computer. Being able to tangibly flip through your expenditures helps get the point across. It can be easy to forget that you’re overspending if you can just close the computer document.

2. Think about your food expenses

One of the easiest ways to cut down on costs is paying closer attention to the amount of money you’re spending on food. If you’re going out to eat every night, chances are you’re wasting your money. Whether you’re on or off campus, eating at home will save you exponential amounts of funds.

If you’re in an on-campus apartment and your school lets you, ONeal recommends “opting out of the college meal plan, which is usually expensive and often underused,” adding, “Students don’t have to completely give up going out to eat. [They just need] to budget an adequate amount for groceries and a separate line item for restaurants.”

Another great grocery shopping trick is taking advantage of your local store’s bulk section.

“I like to buy in bulk because it cuts down on a lot of costs. Buying a one-pound box of name brand pasta is about the same price I pay for a month's worth in bulk,” says Stephanie Blair, a senior at Western Oregon University.

One of the largest expenses you may have is caffeine. Whether you like coffee, tea or carbonated energy drinks, going out to buy caffeine is expensive. Five dollars may not seem like much, but if you’re regularly dropping money on drinks it’s bound to add up. Rather than go to a coffee shop every morning, make your coffee or tea at home and bring it in a travel mug to your classes. If you like fancier drinks, buy flavored syrups to add to your coffee before you head out! It won’t taste exactly the same, but it will save you loads of cash.

3. Try and buy multi-purpose items

When spending money on household items, get the most bang for your buck by filling your shopping cart with items that can get more than one job done.

“Buying products that can be used for more than one purpose is life saving. You can buy eight different cleaners for your bathroom, kitchen, floor and whatever, or you can buy a big thing of baking soda and vinegar. Coconut oil is similar – you can use it for cooking, and as a toner, as a lotion,” says Stephanie.

If you’re going to stock up on supplies to clean your apartment or even to cook with, there are most likely ways you can cut down on cost. Things like coconut oil and baking soda can be used for a myriad of different things and can prevent you from spending money on items that will get used once and then get pushed to the back of your closet.

4. Look into being an RA

If you’re spending too much money on housing, look into becoming an RA! Not only does the job look good on a resume, it also may come with some great money-saving perks.

“Being an RA is a lot like being a camp counselor, except the people they’re helping are their peers,” says ONeal. “It’s a great opportunity if the student enjoys giving guidance and support to others (and if they're planning to live in a dorm anyway!) why not look into it? Many colleges offer their RA’s either free or reduced room and board for their services."

If having a leading role in your school’s housing department seems appealing to you, ask how you can become an RA. While one of the most expensive parts of attending college is housing, it’s also one of the biggest places where you can try and save money.

5. Start paying off your loans early

Though it may seem like spending money is counter-productive when it comes to saving money, starting to pay off your college loans a little early can make a huge difference in the long run. Depending on what kind of loans you have, you may be acquiring interest while you’re in school. One of the best ways of minimizing the interest acquired is to start making payments it while you’re in college. Doing this will help you in the future by cutting down on what you’ll have to pay month-to-month once you graduate. The less debt you acquire while in college, the better.

ONeal sums this problem up perfectly, saying, “student loan and credit card debt and car payments are plaguing our country right now. So many students are leaving college unable to step into adulthood with confidence because of thousands of dollars in student loans and credit card debt.”

If you go into the first part of your post-college adult life with mountains of debt, how are you going to have the freedom and piece of mind to really take control of your life? Paying off your debt while in college may limit your ability to maintain stress-free spending habits, but it will totally help you out.

6. Transfer money to your savings account at the beginning of the month

Once you’ve paired down your budget and streamlined your shopping, throw your extra money into a savings account!

“When I get my paycheck I immediately put some of it (half or a third or whatever) into my savings account. If you're in a pinch you can always transfer it back but it's just an easy way to make it less accessible” says Abby Piper, a senior at Notre Dame.

If you’re living off campus or if you have any bills to pay, putting that much money away may not be realistic. If you can’t manage putting away a third of your paycheck, evaluate the savings amount that will work best for you. One trick that I’ve found is transferring the money as soon as you get paid. If the money lingers in your checking account you’re more likely to spend it. If it’s somewhere that isn’t as easily accessible, you’ll feel less tempted to dip into the money.

If you don’t have a steady source of income, an easier way to stash money away is by filling jars of coins. “I saved an extra $30 a month just by not spending my spare change and filling it up in a jar. You can also have over $100 if you fill a 2 liter with dimes,” says Charlene Hendricks, Campus Correspondent for Brenau University.

Though it may take longer to save a large amount, saving change that you find around your apartment or dorm can definitely add up.

Saving money may seem difficult and stressful when you first start out, but it gets easier once you get into the habit of making conscious spending choices. Though it may mean foregoing Thursday night drinks and karaoke or your morning Starbucks, your bank account will thank you.

After His Mom's Embarrassing #HimToo Tweet Went Viral, This Guy Came Forward To Clarify How He Really Feels About The #MeToo Rip-off

Seemingly in response to the #MeToo movement and the recent conversation about sexual misconduct, a woman identified as @MarlaReynoldsC3 (on a now-deleted Twitter account) posted a short rant on Twitter about her son in the military.

“He is a gentleman who respects women,” said the mother of Pieter Hanson. “He won’t go on solo dates due to the current climate of false sexual accusations by radical feminists with an axe to grind.” Because it's Twitter, this quickly turned into a meme (called the MY son meme) that took over the hashtag.

From there, the tweet got back to Hanson, and he responded in the most perfect way. With a photo of himself similar to the original post, Hanson said “That was my Mom [sic]. Sometimes the people we love do things that hurt us without realizing it.”

Hanson went on to clarify how his position differs from his mother’s, “I respect and #BelieveWomen. I never have and never will support #HimToo.” Hanson even complimented the memes that spinoff from the tweet once it started trending.

Hanson’s brother, Jon Hanson, also got involved in the drama. He posted a picture of the family calling his mother’s tweet “ridiculous.”

Since going viral, Hanson has used his Twitter power to post pictures of his cats and encourage donations to Make-a-Wish America and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Merch for 'A Star Is Born' Just Dropped & I Literally Need It Now

The much-anticipated Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper movie,“A Star Is Born” just made its movie theater debut this past Friday and pretty much everyone is talking about it.

More than that, people also want merch. Fans of Gaga, Cooper and the film alike are in desperate need of some good ole’ Ally and Jackson influenced merch.

As the gracious person that she is, Mother Monster heard the pleas from all her adoring fans and blessed us with "A Star Is Born"merch. Inspired by the two main characters Ally and Jackson played by Gaga and Cooper respectively, the two t-shirts feature rustic looking band tee’s that echo the indie feel of the movie and music featured.

The Ally inspired t-shirt features Lady Gaga’s character on a creme colored t-shirt in all her brunette glory in a portrait image surrounded by swirls of birds in black and blue colors. The second t-shirt features Jackson, Cooper’s character, playing guitar against a faded blue circle on a black t-shirt.

The shirts come in at $35 each and feature unisex sizing from small to a 2x. While the size range is exciting, the website doesn't have a size guide for purchasing the shirts and may make it difficult to find a size that may fit well.

Oh and the wait time for this merch is about four to five weeks….so just in time for the Holidays!

Each t-shirt comes with a digital download of the soundtrack available to those in the United States (sorry, international fans).

Regardless of the sizing issue, the merch is definitely a must-have for when you go see the movie AGAIN, along with those crying sessions while listening to the soundtrack.

In the words of Bruno Mars, you know you made it when you can hire Ed Sheeran to sing to you on your birthday.

To celebrate his 33rd birthday, the “Finesse” singer jokingly hired Sheeran to sing “Happy birthday” to him while backstage at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN. And there is video evidence to prove it!

“Happy birthday to you two-time Super Bowl performing Bruno,” Sheeran belts as he strums his iconic acoustic guitar. The camera suddenly pans to Bruno Mars, who is seen wearing Versace and a golden party hat, enthusiastically cutting into a tower of cupcakes that spell out his name. He clings a glass cup three times and demands that Ed sing to him again, which he happily does.

Bruno Mars was in Nashville for his 24K Magic Tour, which ends on December 31 in Las Vegas (tickets are still availble btw).

Happy Birthday, Bruno! Hope it was the best one yet.

We Asked Young People How They're Staying Motivated This Election Season & It Nourished Our Politically Anxious Souls

While speaking to students at University of Maryland (and at watch parties all around the country) as part of The New York Times' Get With The Times event series last week, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders didn't hold back while emphasizing how unbelievably necessary it was for young people to make an impact at the polls during the 2018 midterm elections.

"All of the change that we have seen, throughout the history of this country, it never comes from the guy in the White House that signs the bill. it always comes from mass movements of people," Sanders told the crowd. "...You not only have to vote, you gotta drag your friends out. And your uncles and your aunts."

We've already been hearing so many stories of campuses mobilizing young voters and young people getting loud about the issues driving them to vote this year. So that change-making energy Sanders is talking about — of not only taking personal responsibility for voting but also encouraging that same kind of motivation in their communities — is something we wanted to explore even more within our community.

We asked young people at the event, online and IRL about why and how they stay politically engaged and motivated heading into the midterm elections. Here's what they said:

"When it comes to politics I try to stay up to date by checking the news and seeing what’s happening. Since we’re in an age where our politicians are on twitter more than in their office, [I also stay engaged and active] by following them and directly tweeting at them for answers. I try to make sure I meet deadlines for registration and have already requested my absentee ballot, since I go to school out of state." - Alexis G.

"I do my best to stay politically engaged by having open and honest conversations with friends about what is happening locally and nationally in the news. I stay informed about what is going on because it’s important to know about the issues and laws that can affect me for better or worse. By being informed, I know I and others can make a difference when we vote in the upcoming midterms. " - Carissa D.

"I try to stay politically engaged by being informed. As sad and discouraging as it can be to read the news, I try to read a little bit everyday. On the other hand, I make sure to read from reputable sources and limit what I read so that it's not overwhelming. Another big part of my political involvement is thoroughly researching candidates for my state election. I know people feel like their votes might not matter, but I know that change starts small. One person being elected to state, local, or national legislature can make an overwhelming impact!"- Kaitlin M.

"Since I'm going to school outside of my home state, it's hard to keep track of the candidates and everything that's going on. But I try to state as up to date as possible by reading the newspaper from my area, which is mostly the Boston Globe. In terms of staying up-to-date with midterms across the country, I'd say that I try to read as much of the news as possible, listening to podcasts, reading stories, etc. But something that's really helpful is talking about the elections with my friends. Because of everything that's happening with the Kavanaugh confirmation, we've been talking about that a lot which has kind of helped us talk about other issues and what's going on in all our home states. I think talking with friends is definitely something that keeps me engaged and thinking about what's going on and forming my own opinions rather than just reading about it." - Makena G.

"When it comes to staying politically engaged leading up to the election, I always make sure to stay informed about the recent headlines and all that is happening in the political world, whether it be the recent Supreme Court confirmation or the latest bill in Congress or recent developments out of the White House. Fortunately for me, staying informed about these things is also part of my job, so it helps to make sure that I am extra on top of it. But being politically informed has always been very important to me, especially since my degree is in political science. As an individual with a political science degree, that leads to several people emailing me or sending me messages through social media to get my take on a proposition or candidate and to help them decide how to vote. It fills me with pride to know that I am able to help people understand the issues, as I present them with facts from both sides, and get them motivated to vote. I always try to stress the importance of voting, as it is our greatest civic duty. Voting is a privilege, and we must voice our opinions, whatever they may be. So I highly encourage everyone to make their voices heard this November! Vote whichever way speaks to your heart. But just make sure to vote, and grab a friend, or two, to go and vote with you!"- Emily V.

"The political climate has been incredibly overwhelming lately, so it's tempting to hide away and ignore the current events. I stay motivated by reminding myself that it's not my job to fix the entire political climate. I couldn't do that even if I tried. Once I understood that I'm not responsible for changing the whole world, I felt I huge weight lifted off my shoulders. Now I focus on using my energy to make a difference in the small ways in which I actually can, like voting, attending protests, and volunteering in my community. It's easy to feel intimidated into complacency, but the little things really do make a big difference!"- Hannah H.

As the midterm elections get closer and closer (also voter registration deadlines!), all eyes are very much on young people of the United States to see whether they'll make up for their historically low voter turn-outs in midterm elections (like, only 18 percent of college students voting. WTF.) As Sen. Sanders said, "Getting angry isn't good enough, getting empowered is what it's all about..Your job is to stand up and say 'I am an American citizen...and I damn well am gonna vote and participate in the political process."

College Republicans Threatened To Sue A Bar That Didn't Want To Host Their #Beers4Brett Pro-Kavanaugh Event

The University of Washington College Republicans group threatened to sue Shultzy's Bar and Grill in Seattle Saturday after the bar tried to deny the group the ability to host an event celebrating Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court.

The bar backed down after Freedom X, an organization that aims to protect conservative and religious freedom of expression, stepped in and helped the UW College Republicans by providing legal counsel.

“We're happy this is all over. We wanted to grab a beer – you know, kind of a little joke. We all know Brett Kavanaugh likes a beer,” Chevy Swanson, the UW College Republicans president, told Kiro7.

According to Seattle statute, political ideology is a protected class, meaning no one can be discriminated against based on their political beliefs. In most other cities, businesses are able to deny service based on political beliefs.

"The First Amendment does not apply to private action. This would be a purely private bar exercising their own judgment on who they want to serve on the basis of political ideology, and they could do that under national law," constitutional law expert, Jeffery Needle, told Kiro7.

Around 15 UW College Republicans attended the "Beers 4 Brett" event.

Coca Cola announced Monday that they are introducing a brand-new limited-edition flavor to the UK market, just in time for the winter holiday season: Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Cinnamon. It will be sold in 500ml and 1.25l bottles and will only be available until the end of the year. At this point, no announcements have been made regarding whether cinnamon Coke might be released in the U.S.

With the news, came a stream of social media posts; reactions were mixed.

According to the U.S. Business Insider, Coke Zero Sugar sales have been on the rise in the U.S., while Diet Coke sales have been declining. In the UK, 58% of Coke's retail sales are made up of Coca-Cola zero sugar, and this new flavor will only increase their profit. Other flavors in the collection include regular, cherry, peach and vanilla, while in the U.S., Coke Zero Sugar comes in regular, caffeine-free, cherry and vanilla.

The brand has also been experimenting with more and more flavors in their other Coca-Cola drinks recently. In this year alone, four new flavors of Diet Coke debuted in the U.S.: feisty cherry, twisted mango, zesty blood orange and ginger lime.

There were also two other new Coca-Cola flavors: Georgia Peach and California Raspberry.

Coca-Cola is really meeting winter expectations with their newest, cinnamon flavor. We can't wait to see what they come up with next!

5. Playing with prints

This fall, preppy prints like  herringbone and plaid get a twist with bright colors and unique combos. Go back to school in style with these dressy looks and classic prints that remind us of a crisp fall day. But if you’re not into wearing jut one statement pattern, you can always mix it up and wear a patchwork of multiple patterns at once.

6. Cinched waists

Looks with cinched waists or bustier bodices are giving us major ‘90s nostalgia this fall. Celebrities like Kat Graham love the girly yet chic look for the red carpet, and style bloggers have been showing off how to incorporate it into your street style, too. One of the most interesting  ways to wear this look is in your professional wardrobe. Adding a cinched waist to a classic white button down can make a bold statement in the office and keep your classic pieces from getting boring.

Trump Casts Doubt on UN Report That Shows Climate Change Effects Will Soon Be 'Irreversible'

Scientists issued a stark warning in a new report that global temperatures could reach an irreversible point in just 12 years if the world does not try to significantly reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Just a day after the international panel of scientists issued their warning, the president did not comment on whether the U.S. accepts or rejects the report’s findings.

A panel of more than 90 scientists under the United Nations published a report, urging the world to take unprecedented action to reduce their use of fossil fuels and to release less carbon dioxide, otherwise the world has approximately 12 years before the impact of climate change becomes irreversible.

When asked about the report’s findings on the White House lawn, President Donald Trump told reporters that he will be looking at it.

“It was given to me. And I want to look at who drew it. You know, which group drew it. I can give you reports that are fabulous, and I can give you reports that aren't so good. But I will be looking at it, absolutely,” Trump told reporters.

via AP

The report, which cited more than 6,000 scientific references and included 42,000 comments from governments and experts, was put together by 91 researchers and editors from 40 countries involved with the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), The Huffington Post reports.

“This is one of the most important reports ever produced by the IPCC, and certainly one of the most needed,” Hoesung Lee, the chair of the body, said at a press conference in South Korea on Monday. “Climate change is already affecting people, livelihood and ecosystems all around the world.”

The UN panel’s researchers found that “human caused” carbon dioxide emissions need to be reduced by at least half of the 2010 levels by 2030 to keep the worst effects of climate change at bay. Scientists said “rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society” are necessary in order to limit the possibility of irreversible environmental damage.

It is unlikely, however, that these results will sway Trump, who decided to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement – an accord where countries pledged to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The president has also taken steps to dismantle other significant policies designed to reduce the country’s carbon footprint.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), charged with protecting human health and the environment, declined to comment on the UN report’s findings on Monday.

“The United States continues to lead the world in greenhouse gas reductions having reduced our emissions by 14 percent since 2005,” an EPA spokesman said in a statement.

The EPA did, however, thank the UN panel for their “hard work.”

“We appreciate the hard work of the scientists and experts, many from the United States, who developed this report under considerable time pressure,” an EPA spokesperson said. “Governments do not formally endorse specific findings presented by the authors.”

Ivanka Trump Says She Will Not Replace Nikki Haley as UN Ambassador

Ivanka Trump says she won’t take Nikki Haley’s place as ambassador to the United Nations, even though her father says she would be “dynamite” at the job.

“It is an honor to serve in the White House alongside so many great colleagues and I know that the President will nominate a formidable replacement for Ambassador Haley,” Ivanka Trump tweeted Tuesday. “That replacement will not be me.”

Haley, the former Republican governor of South Carolina, was confirmed as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations in January 2017. She announced her resignation on Tuesday.

“It has been an honor of a lifetime,” Haley said in the Oval Office, announcing her departure. “Look at what has happened in two years with the United States on foreign policy. Now, the United States is respected. Countries may not like what we do, but they respect what we do.”

Haley will officially resign as ambassador by the end of the year, the president said in the announcement, which shocked many in the White House, including including Chief of Staff John Kelly and Vice President Mike Pence, The Huffington Post reports.

President Trump said later in the day that his eldest daughter “would be incredible” as the ambassador to the UN.

“I want to tell you, the people … know that Ivanka would be dynamite,” Trump said. “But, you know, I’d then be accused of nepotism, if you can believe it.” Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, are currently senior White House advisers to the president.

“I’m not sure there’s anybody more competent,” the president added.

Ivanka Trump had tweeted praise for Haley earlier in the day.
