Bella Thorne Reveals How Much She Makes By Posting On Social Media & I Admire The Hustle

On Bella Thorne's Instagram page you'll find a variety of posts: real and raw images of the starlet living her life, shots of her in full glam for photo shoots and events, and the classic Instagram #ad. Some people are critical of celebrities using their platform to try and sell things to their fans, but in a recent documentary, Bella said it's all just part of the hustle.

Vogue gave viewers an inside look into Bella Thorne's world in their short doc, Inside the Life of Bella ThorneIn the 17-minute film, Bella gave a lot of details about the behind-the-scenes of her celebrity life, talking about transitioning from Disney, the paparazzi, smoking weed and her business mindset. She also got real about social media, and gave some very specific details about how Instagram ads work.

"Instagram is 100 percent a job to me," Bella said. "I started out at 18 with literally $200 in my bank account and I bought this house a year later, a year and a half. That's all from social media."

Then she got really real and spilled how much she gets paid for these posts.

"For grid posting, it's 65 grand a post," she noted. "For story posting, it's anywhere from 10 to 20K, and for Snapchat, it's the same as Insta-Story."

That's a lot of coin, and it seems simple enough: just post a picture of you with x product and you make 65K? What? But the Famous In Love star also broke down how hard she worked to raise her following—which is now at over 17 million—and understand the ins and outs of Instagram. "It's from studying that shit," Bella said. "Demographics and ratios and engagement and definitely the more technical side of it."

"I was raised to think that social media is everything," Bella said. She explained that she knew people liked the more glam, sexy photos, the kind that first got her a million likes on a post, but she tries to balance that with glimpses into the realities of her life, like her with no makeup struggling with cystic acne, or in her house painting for fun.

No shame in the hustle, especially if that hustle got her the money that allowed her to become independent. And now, besides the occasional sponsored post, Bella's Instagram can actually show fans her life.

"I put myself out there the way I do on social media because I want people to see who I am," she said.

These Custom Temporary Tattoos Will Let You Wear All Your Celebrity Crushes

Nowadays, lots of people have at least some ink, but committing to a tattoo for a lifetime can seem daunting. Especially for those of us who can’t even decide between tacos or burgers (so you just end up going through the Wendy’s drive-thru with a Taco Bell bag already in your lap), how is a girl supposed to decide on a permanent tattoo to live on her skin forever?

While temporary tatts might seem like the safest alternative for even the most indevout commitment-phobe, you might want cover your arm in something cooler than the sleeve of your nephew’s Hot Wheels temporary tattoos to start. Thankfully, an Etsy shop is selling temporary tattoos of custom portraits, which means you can wear your latest celebrity crush on your sleeve with the impunity to change up the design when you inevitably start crushing a different celeb.

According toBustle, Etsy store owner Lilimandrill illustrates personalized portraits and sells them as temporary tats. While Grossmann markets her artwork as a unique gift for weddings, bachelorette parties and bat mitzvahs, these pseudo-tattoos have endless potential. Although April Fools Day has since passed, Grossmann's designs are realistic enough that you can tell your girl gang that you got a drunken tattoo of that generic fuckboy you’ve been texting for the last week. NEED.

Judging by examples on the product listing, she puts a lot of detail into her miniature portraits. The reviews only endorse the high quality of the tattoos! One customer wrote, “This item was an amazing touch for our wedding day. We assumed some people would join in on the fun but almost everyone lined up for a tattoo! Some people used up to 4 tattoos.” No doubt, we’d probably selfishly use the entire 10 pack for ourselves.

Whether you want to wear your bestie’s face or you want to don a temporary tattoo of an internet boyfriend, Grossmann’s personalized interim tattoos start at $70, before shipping expenditures, of course. Though $70 might seem like a lot of cash to spend on ink that only lasts for two or three days, you receive a minimum of 10 single portraits—or more. if you choose one of the more expensive packages—with your order. Plus, it's just fantastic artwork! And we totally supporting paying artists what they're earned for their hard work.

The New Trailer for 'Incredibles 2' Has Landed & I'm Filled With Nostalgia

If you remember going to the theater back in the early 2000s to see Pixar's The Incredibles like I do, then you're going to be *so* stoked. A new trailer for The Incredibles 2 was just released and all I feel is nostalgia (and maybe a little pride) over the plot line of the sequel.

It looks like Bob Parr, aka Mr. Incredible, will be trading in his supersuit to be Mr. Mom, while his wife Helen Parr, aka Elastigirl, is on a mission to bring the Supers back in the world, of course. I love the role reversal because we get a different POV this time around, not to mention powerful women always make me smile.

Holly Hunter, the voice behind Helen Parr, is just as excited as I am for the power role she was given. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly,Hunter expressed her views on the sequel. She described Elastigirl's character as one with "a real incredible sense of competitiveness and ambition. She throws down the gauntlet in this one. It’s so much fun to see a woman luxuriating in those two arenas, because women have for so many generations been brought up to not be ambitious or to not be competitive, and it’s fun to see Helen basking in those two arenas in much the same way that we give men license to do.” Amazing.

"I just think it’s beautiful that Incredibles 2 is allowing Mrs. Incredible to reveal all these other different colors of who she is." Me too, girl.

Don't worry—you still see plenty of Dash, Violet and Jack-Jack, the kids we've grown to know and love, and judging by the trailer, they throw Bob for a loop with their antics. Jack-Jack is out of control with his powers, which is enough to make all of us stressed (he's *so* cute though). With Helen's new job comes a new house, too, filled with fancy gizmos and gadgets. Dash is obsessed, while Violet is still the angst-filled teen we saw in the first installment. Essentially nothing has changed aside from Mr. and Mrs. Incredible's roles in the family, so it should feel like no time has passed when all us Millennials roll into the theaters to see our favorite characters on the big screen again.

If you haven't seen the trailer, watch it ASAP and try not to die of excitement—we still have to wait until June 15 to see the full film.

This Teen's Prom Dress Was an Ode to Iconic Black Women, & You're Doing Amazing, Sweetie

Prom fashion always seems to be variations of that one basic dress off the mannequin at your local mall, the Sherri Hill Classic, or daring DIYs. One teen from Memphis, Tennessee, took the last route and decided to make an iconic statement at her prom this year.

Skylar Branch, a student at White Station High School, wanted to honor some of the most inspirational black women in history with her prom dress, including her relatives. The faces of women including Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey and Maya Angelou graced the gorgeous train, as well as those of other women in her family.

Her initial decision to rock a dress with such significant meaning was spurred because of Branch's late great-grandmother. According to Yahoo Lifestyle, Branch told her mom: "Mom, there’s been so many extraordinary African-American women who have done so much for me. I want to show them some respect so that they know that not just the older adults but the younger adults appreciate who paved the way." Thus, the most impactful prom dress of all time was born.

With a powerful vision and talented seamstress named Shannon Pierce, Branch was able to bring her dream to life and pay tribute to some very important women in the most beautiful way possible.

What's the Difference Between Toner & Astringent? Everything You Need to Know

$

Seeing as practically every celebrity and YouTuber has released a beauty line (or is currently constructing one), it’s nearly impossible to keep up with all the new products that dermatological innovation has to offer. However, there are few evergreen beauty products that could help amplify your thrice-daily procrastination routine (i.e. your skincare regimen), like toners and astringents.

Although multi-masking might seem like the only form of multitasking that you can manage with minimal stress, you’re still tempted to use every product in your bathroom drawers. Like drinking and texting, some combinations can have negative ramifications—so coating your pores with toners and astringents could constrict your beauty regime’s success.

There are a few ways to determine whether a toner or an astringent will be a happy addition to your beauty coven.

So WTF is an astringent and what can it do for your skincare regimen?

Astringents work to smooth out your skin texture by contracting your pores. A chemical agent, typically alcohol, helps astringents make your skin look like porefection.

Caitlin Hoff, a Health & Safety Investigator for Consumer Safety, tells Her Campus, “Astringents are typically alcohol-based and can be harsher on your skin. Because of this, some astringents are made with witch hazel, which is milder for your skin.” Anyone who can consistently use an alcohol-based product on their skin is clearly chaotic. However, there are plenty of astringents that don’t use alcohol as their active ingredients, so you can still incorporate astringents in your routine without the fear of over drying (unless looking like a dried-out Spongebob meme is your thing).

Hoff adds, “Astringents are designed to remove excess oil and reduce acne. Because they're alcohol-based, however, astringents will dry your skin out more so people with sensitive or dry skin will want to avoid adding an astringent to their daily routine.”

Because astringents do have an underlying drying effect, to absorb excess oil off your flesh, you should work with your dermatologist or a licensed skincare expert to create a comprehensive way to incorporate this skin tonic on your face without any negative side effects. After all, Mayo Clinic explains that prolonged or severely dry skin can cause open sores and scratching (from the itching that follows dehydrated skin).

Although parched skin might not be the worst thing in the world, open wounds leave your skin vulnerable to infection. Dermatologists can work with you to figure out what types of astringents will benefit your skin and curate a stringent astringent schedule, so you aren’t tempted to douse your pores with the substance every day. After all, navigating the broad variety of astringents can be overwhelming, seeing as astringents vary in types and functions to cater to a variety of skin types and needs. Regardless of what astringent you and your dermatologist decide on, astringents typically favor oily or acne-prone skin.

While anyone with oily or acne-prone skin might physically benefit from astringents, astringents can add another element in the medicinal effect of your beauty routine.

If astringents work to remove oils and make your skin feel smoother, how are toners different than astringents?

Though toners also eradicate oil, toners are typically water-based solutions rather than chemical-based like their astringent sisters (which can make them less harsh for sensitive skin).

Hoff says, “Toners are usually water-based and may contain natural ingredients that contain antioxidants. Some toners may also include glycerine or glycol which soothes irritated skin and balances your skin's pH balance.” Because toners pacify irritated skin, toners might be a better option for anyone with sensitive skin.

In addition to clearing your face of grease, toners collude with your face wash to clean off some things that your cleanser couldn’t.  Hoff adds, “Toners are used to wipe away grime, makeup or sweat that your cleanser may not have removed fully from your face. Toners can also keep your skin hydrated. If you have sensitive skin or don't struggle with excess oil and breakouts, a toner might be a great addition to your skincare routine.”

Overall, toners and astringents work to serve similar purposes, but their underlying ingredients can impact your skincare game a bit differently, depending on your skin type.

Nevertheless, astringents and toners both have a similar application process.

Because these connections collaborate with your soap, you can optimize your astringents or toners by using them after you’ve cleansed your face (or wherever you plan on using the product).

“Both products should be used following your face cleanser and before applying moisturizer or other serums to your skin,” Hoff notes.

Just like the dissimilar compounds in toners and astringents, your application method can vary a bit. Bella Schneider, owner and formulator of Bella Schneider Beauty and owner of LaBelle Day Spas, tells Her Campus, “If you have sensitive dry skin, but still have the occasional oily spots or breakouts, you can spot treat those areas with astringents on a cotton ball. Don’t apply the entire face, though. Toners are great for overall skin health and can be applied with a cotton pad or spritzed on throughout the day.” While you can use astringents as an all over treatment, like toners, they can be just as effective as a spot treatment.

However, the most vital step to your application method is suppressing your urge use both an astringent and a toner in your beauty routine (at least not both in the same day). Hoff notes, “Pick one or the other. Don't use both a toner and an astringent.”

While choosing between using a toner versus an astringent might be more difficult than that time you had to choose between Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine and Chris Evans in a hypothetical game of f*ck, marry, kill (and you just ended up marrying them all because decisions are difficult), you can’t find a way to happily marry a toner and an astringent into your daily beauty plan.

Overall, astringents and toners might seem like they have similar skincare superpowers; however, they are different and can be incorporated in your routine differently (and separately)—which makes sense, because the world of beauty is constantly adapting to accommodate your ambitious appetite for skincare products.

On Thursday's episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation ("Sunday Vinday") Jenni “JWoww” Farley revealed a heartbreaking moment to fellow castmate, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. She told Mike how she and now-husband Roger Mathews had suffered through a miscarriage before they went off to film the fourth season of the MTV reality series in Florence, Italy in 2011.

“I was a mess in Italy,” JWoww told Mike. “Right before Italy, like three or four weeks before Italy, my grandmother passed. And me and Roger actually lost a baby, like I ended up pregnant. Not a lot of people know.”

She continued, “And they put me on medication because of it, I couldn’t handle life. But the medication, it was like Xanax. It would take me down…it was making me so groggy... Then I started taking uppers with it, segway right into Italy. I was a f**king mess."

These days JWoww is in a much happier place: Since the heartbreaking incident, she married then-boyfriend Roger in 2015, and the two became proud parents to two beautiful children—3-year-old daughter Meilani Alexandra and 23-month-old son Greyson Valor.

How to Give Yourself the Best Manicure at Home

Everyone loves a good manicure, but sometimes we don’t like it at a salon price. As luxurious as salon treatments can be, we can easily give ourselves a similar treatment at home! Get your girlfriends together or just have a relaxing night on your own with some Netflix and snacks. Giving yourself an amazing, salon-style manicure at home is easy and affordable...and you’ll feel so proud of yourself after.

1. Have the essential products

For a salon-style manicure, it’s imperative to stock up on the essential products that a manicurist would use during a treatment. So, we spoke to makeup artist and beauty guru, Lilibet Hernandez to find out what her must-have items are for an at home mani.

“Some tools I can't live without when doing my own nails would be a good nail filer, buffer and top coat!” she says.

She says that “the key to a great manicure at home is keeping your nails well-kept,” and with the right process and products, we can achieve just that.

2. File down your nails

The first thing Lily suggests is filing down your nails. She instructs to file them to the length and shape you want. This is a really important first step as it is laying the foundation for how your manicure is going to look! Nail files are cheap––check out this one for only $2.

There are plenty of tips to filing your nails, but a really important one is to file only in one direction. Celebrity manicurist Jenna Hipp told Nail It magazine that people should “use a side-to-center motion, where you sweep the file over the tip of the nail in one direction, and then shape the nail accordingly.”

Nail It magazine suggests starting at the tip of the nail, filing perpendicular, then moving to the sides, filing parallel. Lastly, file the edges to the desired shape.

3. Buff your nails

Next, you’ll want to buff your nails. Lily says that buffing your nails removes any oils from your cuticles so that your nail polish can shine. Revlon’s Crazy Shine Buffer will be perfect before applying that first coat of nail polish. Make sure to buff lightly and in circular motions; if you apply too much pressure you could damage your nail!

4. Take care of your cuticles

Cuticle care may be the most important part of keeping your nails healthy. Lily says, “For me it's about keeping them hydrated and nourished. My nails have a hard time growing so I like to keep my cuticles hydrated and protected, so I've been using this O.P.I. treatment.”

“I actually use it because my mom always used it on me when she would do my nails,” she told us. “I use it every time after I do my nail polish or when I don't have any nail polish on, I try to apply some at least once a week.”

This is an essential step whether you’re applying polish or leaving your nails with a natural shine. Cuticle care is like skincare for your nails!

5. Paint your nails carefully with quality polish

As always, you want the best quality nail polish for your at-home mani, and if you’re not sure where to start, Lily suggests trying Essie and O.P.I. brands. She says “Personally. my favorite nail brands are Essie and O.P.I! Spending on more expensive nail polish will give your nails the salon look you want without the cost once again.”

Once you’ve picked out you’re color, apply a basecoat. A basecoat will help your mani last longer with minimal chipping and maximum shine. After that’s applied, start painting at the base of the middle of the nail and swipe the polish up. Then move to the sides and continue to swipe up. You may have to do this two or three times for good color quality. This video is short and shows exactly how to do this process!

6. Apply a top coat

The top coat is going to be the sealing step in your at-home manicure. According to Lily, “Making sure you finish off any nail polish with a top coat will ensure that they last and stay shiny like at any nail salon.”

Lily’s favorite top coats are O.P.I.’s matte and traditional top coats. Some top coats are made for specific kinds of nails, whether that's dry and brittle or oily. Look at various brands and formulas to decide what will be best for your nail type.

7. Upkeep your manicure throughout the week

Brooke Shunatona, senior beauty editor at Cosmopolitan, gives two super important tips for keeping your manicure in tip top shape. First, don’t use hand sanitizer because it’ll dry out your nails, causing them to split––only use mild soaps when washing hands. Second, apply a fresh layer of top coat every two or three days to keep nails from chipping and to keep them looking shiny.

As luxurious as a salon mani can be, there's no reason to keep spending a ton of money at the salon. Try these tips and you can do your very own manicure at home for a fraction of the cost! If you’re looking to shake things up a bit, take a tip from Samantha Burke, a Sienna alumna, who says she uses “the other end of a paint brush to make Daisies. Put down a yellow spot, and then spot white around it!” Sooooo cute.

Your manicures are going to look so #fresh this summer.

The 7 Most Bizarre Beauty Treatments Celebrities Swear By

$

The beauty industry is an ever-evolving means to an end of looking #flawless. Fortunately for us, this means that we never have to wait too long to hear about the next big thing sweeping the beauty and skin care industries. As with fashion, celebrities are the trendsetters who bring the haute couture of beauty treatments into the public eye, filled with women like ourselves. Science hasn't yet caught up to our expectations, but it’s given celebrities some strange products and treatments to entertain us in the meantime. They’re bizarre, gross, generally-WTF beauty treatments that celebs swear by to maintain their je ne sais quoi—which, as it turns out, is probably just the afterglow of a bee venom intensive moisturizer.

1. Vampire Facials: Kim Kardashian

It's no secret that beauty is kind of a big deal to the Kardashian clan. Which is why we really aren't that surprised that Kim is willing to opt for a facial that makes her look like the lead from a slasher flick and carries a hefty price tag of $2,500 to boot. The facial makes use of a Dermapen, which contains acupuncture-sized needles that are rolled along the face to make micro punctures in the skin and help the serums used during the facial absorb more effectively. Mrs. Kardashian-West goes an extra step with the Dermapen treatment by including plasma platelets (taken from her own blood) in the regenerative treatment, which boosts collagen and elastin production in the skin. However, Dr. Brian Zelickson, Dermatologist and Founder of MD Complete Skincare, let us in on an interesting clinical find: “A recent study found that the use of platelet preparations in facial rejuvenation remains unproven.” According to Dr. Zelickson, topical fillers that use hyaluronic acid can achieve “significant results” minus the cost and blood-smeared face.

2. Foreskin Cell Face Cream: Oprah Winfrey

Oprah certainly got some heat several years ago for having endorsed this controversial moisturizer to her fans. SkinMedica's anti-aging TNS Recovery Complex contains a nutrient solution derived—you read it correctly—from foreskin cells. The company describes the solution as "Human Fibroblast Conditioned Media," a growth factor that reportedly corrects all woes of aging skin (like lines, wrinkles, age spots, dullness, and uneven texture). Various products from SkinMedica's line have been reviewed and loved by beauty editors far and wide, but we kind of cringe at the thought of adding this 0.63 oz skin serum to our shopping list for $179 a pop.

3. Snake Venom 'Botox': Gwyneth Paltrow

The Iron Man starlet swears by this synthetic snake venom complex that's engineered to be a non-invasive alternative to Botox. Paltrow is known to frequent Sonya Dakar Spa in Beverly Hills, where the complex is used in anti-aging facials. According to The Dermatology Review, Syn-Ake mimics the effects of actual snake venom by "reducing muscular contractions and cell movement, thereby keeping skin smooth," which is similar to how Botox functions. The Syn-Ake complex can be found in a variety of different products (and price ranges) in the beauty industry, so we're sure Paltrow isn't the only A-lister getting in on this five-star beauty buy. But while there are similarities in the ways the two compounds function, Dr. Zelickson noted, “there are no well-done clinical studies showing the showing the specific effects of using snake venom topically on the skin."

4. Burning Off Split Ends With ‘Velaterapia’: Alessandra Ambrosio

This is a traditionally Brazilian hair treatment used by supermodels like Alessandra Ambrosio and Barbara Fialho. Velaterapia involves running pieces of hair along open flame to ‘trim’ the split ends and seal the split in the hair strand. It takes 2 to 3 hours at a time to do, and can seriously damage your hair. We chatted with celebrity stylist Peter Lamas (who’s worked with Hollywood legends like Audrey Hepburn) to get the verdict on what this treatment means for the long-term health of your hair. “Personally, the risk of setting the hair on fire is enough to deter me from using this method. The treatment itself seems over-the-top. Singeing off the split end will help temporarily make hair smooth, however Velaterapia will not make hair healthier,” he says. “As more and more split ends are removed, the hair will reach a certain point where it begins to look thin,” says Lamas. Yikes! Thinning hair is not a good look on anyone. Instead, Lamas suggests regular trims and heated hair masks to keep your hair at its healthiest and shiniest.

5. Bird Poop Facials: Victoria & David Beckham

We think it's safe to say that The Beckhams are the definition of power couple #goals. They both have wildly successful careers, the cutest kids ever, and… they get bird poop facials together? The treatment, more delicately known as a Geisha facial, utilizes the excrement of the Japanese nightingale to exfoliate and purify the skin. According to Shizuka Spa in New York City (where Tom Cruise reportedly goes to for his own Geisha facials), the unique properties of the enzymes in the droppings are proven to "brighten, heal and retexturize the skin."

6. Bee Venom Skin Care: Kate Middleton

Excuse us while we fangirl over how cool Kate Middleton is. She’s bonafide royalty on top of being an incredible philanthropist, a guest editor for the Huffington Post, and she has declared once and for all that leggings are indeed pants. She also set this beauty trend a few years back when she revealed it as a staple in her own beauty routine. Bee venom in beauty products touts the same benefits as Syn-ake (mentioned above) but with a few extra in tow. According to Rodial, the celeb-loved brand responsible for bringing buzz-worthy skincare to the public, their bee venom products also contain peptides that increase skin elasticity and firmness, as well as stimulating collagen production in the skin. Dr. Zelickson adds that purified bee venom has shown clinical results in reducing fine lines and wrinkles. “[It] causes an increase in Epidermal Growth Factor (the protein responsible for cell growth) and accelerates cell regeneration, leading to a higher level of skin elasticity and an increase in collagen production,” he says. Be wary, though; if you’re allergic to bees (or if you’re not sure), these products could pose some serious health risks.

7. Red Wine Baths: Terri Hatcher

In all honesty, bathing in red wine almost sounds normal compared the other celebrities’ beauty go-tos. The former Bond girl and Desperate Housewives star loves to add a bottle of red wine to her bath and insists that it softens and exfoliates her skin in the best way. But Dr. Zelickson isn’t convinced. According to him, the numerous health benefits of red wine don’t extend to topical skincare. “Though it has some exfoliating qualities, the attributes of red wine that have a truly positive impact on your health will not cross the dermal barrier into your skin when bathing. The best way to internalize wine’s antioxidants is through drinking (in moderation) or cooking with it,” he says. It looks like you’re probably better off saving the Cabernet Sauvignon for a glass, collegiettes.

As much fun as it is to read about the weird beauty rituals of the rich and famous, there’s a certain peace of mind to having a trusty skincare routine of your own. Would you be brave enough to try any of these crazy beauty treatments out for yourself?

The US, UK & France Launched Airstrikes In Syria In Response To Chemical Attack

After last week's suspected chemical attack in the Syrian town of Douma that led to the deaths of dozens, US, British, and French forces launched "more than 100 missiles" against the Damascus government late Friday night. The targeted areas were at the "very heart of Syria's chemical weapon program," Pentagon spokesperson Lt. Gen. Kenneth McKenzie said on Saturday.

Regarding their success, CNN reported that Pentagon spokesperson Dana White said on Saturday morning the strikes "successfully hit every target" and the countries "took every measure and caution" to only hit the intended targets. "Last night, operations were very successful," White said. "We met our objectives. We hit the sites, the heart of the chem-weapons program. So it was mission accomplished."

President Trump echoed the statement in a tweet.

Though Trump said that he's prepared to sustain this sort of response if Syria doesn't stop using prohibited chemical agents, US Defense Secretary James Mattis said the missiles were a "one-time shot" and intended to deter the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

According to CNN, the Pentagon was not aware of any civilian causalities as of Saturday morning; however, Syria state TV claimed that three civilians were wounded. The Pentagon also said that no American troops were killed.

British Prime Minister Theresa May and French President Emmanuel Macron issued statements on the airstrikes, both reiterating that the missiles were limited to certain areas. May added that she has no intention of "toppling Assad or intervening more widely in the war," according to Reuters

Iran, Russia and Syria itself condemned the attacks. Voxreported that "both Russia and Syria claimed on Saturday that 'a significant number' of the missiles launched at Syria were shot down, although the Pentagon disputes that."

Russian president Vladimir Putin said there was no evidence of last week's chemical attack, and called the airstrikes an "act of aggression" that would "have a destructive effect on the entire system of international relations." He also called an emergency session of the UN security council. According to Al Jazeera, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameini called the strikes "a crime."

People on both sides of the political spectrum discussed the airstrikes on Twitter, with some unhappy with the violence while others thought the strike took a positive step toward stopping Syria's use of chemical weapons.

5 Reasons You Shouldn't Shave Down There

When it comes to hair removal in your bikini area, cultural trends as of late have promoted a do-it-yourself tactic that offers women everywhere a way to save time and money––and an alternative to the dreaded visit to the Brazilian waxing salon. But, just how safe and beneficial is it to shave down there with a razor? We’ve consulted Dr. Lauren F. Streicher, MD, a Clinical Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and author of Sex Rx: Hormones, Health, and Your Best Sex Ever and The Essential Guide to Hysterectomy: Advice from a Gynecologist on Your Choice Before, During, and After Surgery to find out the truth. Read below for five reasons you should not shave your pubic hair:

1. The decision to remove (or not remove) the hair in your bikini area is personal

In this generation, it might seem like collegiettes everywhere are supporters of a “clean” bikini area, opting for a look that is hair-free. However, statistics show that this is not the case.

A report published by the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology shed some light on pubic hair removal. According to the study, 40.9 percent of women who stopped using a razor to shave this region attributed it to disliking the side effects, such as stubble, bumps, rashes,or ingrown hairs. Other popular reasons women stopped shaving were feeling like it was too much of a hassle, a lack of sexual activity, liking the look of pubic hair, and their partners wanted them to stop.

Margeaux Biché, a sophomore at Barnard College, is a big advocate for shaving down there less. “I used to shave my bikini area probably once every week or every other week, and now I probably do so once every couple of months (unless I have some sort of event that might dictate shaving,” she says. “I have found that, as a result, my pubic hair grows WAY more slowly and I think it has gotten slightly thinner as well!” Margeaux is not alone.

For Julie*, another college student, shaving down there is just not worth it. "I've just found that it is always extremely irritating to the skin––it gets very itchy as it grows back and ingrown hairs in my pubic region are scary because they can be confused with warts, pimples or a staph infection," she says. "Hair is natural and serves a purpose. Of course, it is important to manage your pubic hair for sanitary reasons, but it was given to us as a shield." If hair removal down there is just not for you––rest assured knowing you are not alone!

2. There are some minor health complications involved

Pubic hair removal is a modern-day trend, but is it really safe? Not necessarily. According to the study, it may result in unfavorable health consequences including skin irritation, vulvar and vaginal irritation or infection, and even possibly the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Other minor health risks that come with shaving your bikini region may include epidermal abrasions (shallow wounds to the skin), ingrown hairs, hair follicle inflammation, vulva inflammation or rashes.

Dr. Streicher notes that most health complications are nothing major. "There is always a possibility of knicking, as it is a lot harder to see what you are doing," she says. "From an infection point of view, there is not a huge issue––there have been a few studies done, but the numbers have been small." Even if you get your bikini area waxed, you still risk burns to the skin simply because the skin down there is delicate.

It varies from individual to individual, but sometimes, irritation is just inevitable. "There are some people who get bumps no matter what they do," Dr. Streicher says.

3. Pubic hair helps your body in multiple ways

While in the grand scheme of things, humans have much less body hair than other animals, the hair we do have is not accidental––and this goes for pubic hair, as well! According to Dr. Streicher, pubic hair exists to serve many purposes. "Biologically, there is a reason we have pubic hair," she says. "From a medical point of view, it decreases friction and lubrication."

Additionally, hair down there acts as a cushion during intercourse and help men maintain an erection. "When you have two bodies that are rubbing together, pubic hair stops friction and decreases potential discomfort," she says. "It keeps the genitals warm––and for a guy trying to maintain an erection, you have to have warm genitals. It is also a way to find your way to the genitals. If you have a big patch of pubic hair, it says, 'Hey, here is where you go!'" Who knew pubic hair was offered our bodies so many  benefits?

4. Hair in the bikini region triggers arousal

As you have probably noticed on your own body, pubic hair tends to be a completely different texture than, say, the hair on your head. Most medical experts agree that this is because of pheromones, or chemicals that are secreted in our sweat and other bodily fluids and influence the behavior of the opposite sex.

Wait, what? You read that right! Pheromones are believed to trigger sexual interest and excitement. So, hair in the bikini region can actually act as a pheromone-enhanced product that increases your natural appeal to the opposite sex.

While pheromones may influence arousal to some extent, Dr. Streicher believes that the desired look of a vagina is ultimately a personal preference. "I really think what is far more important is what a person finds most erotic," she says. "Some men prefer no pubic hair, but others think that that is just creepy. Appearance has a much bigger impact on arousal than pheromones." Either way, it is foolish to believe that having hair in the bikini region will turn a sexual partner away. In fact, it may do the opposite!

5. There are better (& safer) alternatives

In the age of bare bikini regions, is there a method that is “safest” when it comes to hair removal? As you can probably assume, professional waxing and electrolysis (removing individual hairs from the body using chemical or heat energy) result in the least amount of irritation, allergies or other medical complications.

Margeaux is a supporter of professional removal. “As for waxing, I’ve only ever done that a few times [but] when I did it professionally, it worked super well and hair growth really slowed down,” she says. “When I did it myself, though, it was a complete failure––I literally removed zero hair.” Hair removal is not as simple as it looks, ladies!

Amber*, a student at Florida Atlantic University, prefers Brazilian waxes. "I started getting them about two years ago and they changed my life," she says. "Of course, this isn't scientific, but I feel like the experience and results just feel cleaner than shaving. Plus, yes, I have experienced pretty painful cuts and irritation while shaving." However, Amber adds that the cost of waxing is not so great.

No matter the which method you choose, Dr. Streicher emphasizes that professional removal is both expensive and painful––and that some red bumps will commonly show up no matter what. "I think that from a purely medical point of view, carefully clipping [your pubic hair] is always going to be better," she says. "But, there is nothing wrong with shaving as long as you are comfortable. I don't have a problem with waxing, I just think it takes a rare person to be able to self-wax." We could not agree more.

So, what is Dr. Streicher's final advice for the removal of hair down there? "Like anything else, use common sense," she says. "It's not like there is a huge scientific literature out there about the removal of pubic hair. Keep in mind that genital hairstyles tend to come and go, and what is in style today might not be in style tomorrow."

Like any other decision you have to make in life, the decision to shave down there is always yours and yours only. Make sure you are choosing what makes you look––and more importantly, feel––most comfortable!

OMG, The Yodeling Kid From Walmart Performed At Coachella

By now, you've probably seen the video that went viral of a young boy yodeling in Walmart. He's been turned into a meme, caused dozens of people to make parodies, and even made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. But nobody could have ever guessed where he'd end up next — Coachella.

Yep, 11-year-old Mason Ramsey took the stage at one of the biggest music festivals in the country. He was decked out in his cowboy hat, signature too-big belt buckle, and red bowtie.

The audience went crazy for him, including Justin Bieber, who danced along to Ramsey's rendition of Hank Williams’ "Lovesick Blues." The two were spotted taking selfies later.

Ramsey's invitation to perform seemed to stem from a Twitter interaction he had with @dubstep4dads. The user tweeted a video of Ramsey on stage explaining he set the gig up by inviting him to be a guest of Whethan, a DJ.

I, too, love the internet and this adorable performance. Go Mason!

The College Girl’s Unofficial Guide to Sexting

$

Sexting—the bow chicka wow wow of texting. The electronic hickey. The one time it’s appropriate to use an eggplant emoji.

For our millennial generation, sexting is pretty common what with our high definition iPhone cameras and the sheer existence of Tinder. By now, it falls into the standard order of operations of texting back and forth with some cutie only to end up sending a picture of your digital boobs through thin air.

In all seriousness, while sexting is a great way to practice a safe form of sex, there are a lot of things about it that aren’t safe at all. Since casual sexting is about as common as the casual hook-up, it means that you won’t always be sexting with someone who you know that well. You quickly give your physical privacy and security into the hands of someone else, and that being said, there are some definite dos and don’ts in order to sext the right way—and the safe way.

Dos

Take your time

Just like foreplay, sexting is all about the buildup. The longer it takes, the better. The prolonged anticipation will keep both you and your partner wanting more, and the two of you can keep going at it until you’re satisfied (wink wink).

Taking your time sending messages also gives you a time buffer in which you can begin to trust your partner more. Like we’ve said, sexting is a vulnerable position to be in, and as you draw out the sexual buildup, you can also decipher the limits of just how far you feel comfortable going with the person.

“When I sext someone for the first time, especially if I don’t know them well, I always play it pretty safe at first just because I don’t know if they’re screenshotting everything I say,” says Hunter, a senior at the University of Louisville. “The more the conversation continues, I get a feel for if our sexual interests align and what kind of person they are. If they seem to check out, I immediately start to turn up the heat on my messages.”

Overall, your privacy is of the most utmost importance here, and you shouldn’t sext someone who would put that at risk. Take your time working up to a messaging climax so that you’re secure enough to let go and show your wild side in the messages.

Keep messages short and sweet

Try to find that sweet spot between a single sentence and a full paragraph. Writing “Ohhhhh” doesn’t really add anything to the conversation, but your partner having to endlessly scroll through your messages about all the dirty things you want to do to them is overwhelming. When sexts are too long, the details get lost and that might even be a turn off.

“I had this one girl text me what probably translated to a full page,” says Lorenzo, a junior at the University of California, Santa Barbara. “It was mildly terrifying. I felt like I was reading a romance novel she had secretly been harboring in her soul but never got to write until she sexted me. Ladies! I encourage you to live your fantasy, but maybe just say it in two sentences.”

Remember that sexting should be a dialogue between two people. The perfect formula would be to acknowledge what your partner last said and also add something new to that each time by building on top of the idea or action that was offered to you.

Be polite

We don’t mean saying please and thank you, but keep in mind that you’re still talking to a real person with feelings. Sexting is definitely not a situation where you should ever mock someone or make them feel insecure about what they’re saying.

Department Chair of Psychology at Cal Poly and licensed psychologist Jasna Jovanovic studies the socialization of gender, and has found that males tend be just as insecure about sexual response as women are. “Nobody wants to feel bad about their self, but oftentimes males are cast as initiators and take the brunt of sexual criticism. In the case of sexual messaging, it’s easier for a female to be turned off and be vocal about the sexual fantasy the male has initiated as compared to a real life situation where she might be polite because of the in-person circumstance.”

Be respectful of their boundaries even if it’s not real sex. As the old saying goes, treat others the way you would like to be treated. Starting with kindness will lead to a more pleasurable experience for both of you.

Cover your tracks

No matter how badly you want to save last night’s kinky conversations, just trust us and delete those messages right away, girlfriend. We all have those snoopy friends (or moms) who occasionally scroll through our phones and invade our privacy, and it’s better to be safe rather than have your friend (or mom) take a peek at your recent texts only to find some sub-par porn. There’s also a kick-butt app available called Couple, which is a password protected messaging service that lets you send photos and won’t sync to clouds. It’s all about keeping your moments private, and is a fantastic alternative to deleting your late night sexts!

“I had a bunch of saved sexts between my boyfriend and I that I never deleted,” says Morgan, a junior at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. “Long story short, my phone synced to my friend’s cloud and she still tells everyone about what hilarious and racy things we were saying. Now I always delete my messages the next morning to save myself from further embarrassment.”

As we’ve seen from celebrity photo scandals and private messaging hacks, the digital world is a really dangerous place where your private life can be exposed before you even know what’s happening. Take precaution and always cover your tracks before your sexy time messages are on display for all to see.

Sext soberly

Alcoholic sexting lubricant might not be such a great idea when you wake up in the morning and find out that you’ve been texting your partner like E.L. James all night. We already know the dangers of sending the drunk text, but imagine drunk sexting?! That’s a literal nightmare situation.

“I view drunk sexting the way I view having sex drunk,” says Leah, a junior at the University of Washington. “Alcohol increases your chance of making a mistake. When you’re drunk you would give consent to having sex with someone at a party without really meaning it, and the same goes for sexting. You’re not always in control enough to do what honors you.”

Psychologist Jasno Jovanovic heartily agrees. “A female under the influence is just as likely to be taken advantage of digitally as she may be in a physical social circumstance," she says. "The same rules of safety and consent should still apply to sexting.”

The danger of sexting drunk is that you lack complete control of yourself and aren’t present in the situation. In doing this, you risk sending something that you wouldn’t normally, which might risk your digital safety while also being completely embarrassing.

Don’ts

Show your face if you send any photos

THIS IS SO IMPORTANT—WE CAN’T EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH. Don’t do it, period. Ever. Unless you’re just begging to be blackmailed.

“Exchanging nude pictures is something I really enjoy doing in my relationships, especially if my boyfriend and I have to spend time apart,” says Naba, a senior at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. “It hasn’t happened to me yet, but I’m always terrified that one day I’ll see nude photos of my body on the internet or being passed around my group of friends. I never take pictures with my face in them specifically for that reason.”

While we generally want you to be able to trust people in this world, there are a few bad apples out there. By including your face in photos with your naked body, you give your sexting partner a dangerous power to potentially hold those photos over you. Women’s Health has great advice on what to do if you partner leaks your photos on the internet.

There’s also the risk that other people may be able to get into your partner’s phone, and the last thing you want a random stranger to find is a picture of your smiling face accompanied by your breasts. You want to be completely unidentifiable. Let this be rule number one of safe sexting.

FaceTime

This goes hand in hand with not including your face in any nude photos you send. Sexually FaceTiming your partner gives them the power to take screenshots without you being aware of the situation. This is a great time to stick with good old fashioned sexting and stay away from our advanced iPhone technology.

“My boyfriend and I were doing long distance, so we would FaceTime each other fairly often as opposed to sexting, just because then we could still see each other and it felt more real,” says Marley, a sophomore at New York University. “I had been with him for nearly two years so I completely trusted him, and it never even occurred to me that he would screenshot anything I was doing. One time he came to visit I was looking at the pictures on his phone and saw a bunch of graphic ones of me. I didn’t get mad because I had never explicitly not asked him to not take pictures, but I still felt like the privacy of my body had been violated. It was definitely an awakening to just how scary that situation can be, especially if don’t know your sexual partner very well—or at least can’t get your hands on their phone to delete pictures of you.”

We trust that you are all smart women who have a strong sense of self-preservation and are capable of making intelligent decisions, so just remember that nakedly FaceTiming bae is not a decision you should ever make.

Use emojis or weird anatomical language

This just isn’t tasteful. Nobody wants to see an eggplant with water droplets coming out of it. Enough said.

Also, calling certain body parts by their scientifically correct names makes them sound like a disease. Saying labia over pussy is completely fine–it’s whatever works for you. However, there is a fine line where maybe you should use slang terms, or consider not saying the anatomically correct name at all. If your partner starts to sound like a medical textbook and insists on using the words “fallopian tube,” please rethink your life choices.

Sext if you haven’t had sex

This is not the time or place to discover what sex is or how it happens. Some people say that the general rule of thumb should be not sext anything you haven’t done in real life. This may be limiting, especially if you wanted to explore something kinkier to sext about. So, let’s change the general rule to don’t talk about anything unless you’ve covered the sexual basics (penetrative sex, oral, etc.).

“There was this one time in my first year of college where I was trying to sext with some older guy and come off as really cool,” says Gabrielle, a senior at Northeastern University. “Jokes on me though because I was still a virgin, and so my sexting was a terrible mixture of being really vanilla, completely absurd or just flat out wrong.”

You have more of a chance to turn your partner off rather than on by making up a sexual fantasy if you haven’t had sex in real life. You have no idea what your partner is actually into or even what you’re into. Try not to skip the important first step of intercourse here.

“Digital sex is more often a method of sexual exploration for women than it is for sexual pleasure,” says psychologist Jasna Jovanovic. “This is a contained experience where you can openly entertain your fantasy, but it should not be used to explore what it would be like to have sex for the first time. In my opinion, it will take away from the authenticity of losing your virginity, and just like porn build up false expectations of what sex actually is.”

Oh, sexting. Our ancestors would be so appalled if they knew what we were using our advanced technology for. Regardless, sexting is a regularity now, and we hope that our official dos and don’ts can help you out the next time you want to engage in some textual flirtation.

My Younger Sister Had Sex Before I Did

$

My sister, who is three years my junior, has had sex. I, however, have not. When this happened and she told me, I wasn’t all that surprised. She was always the one with a boyfriend, the one with more experience and the one who my extended family liked to interrogate about her dating life (after attempting to interrogate me with poor results, I think they realized her romantic life was more exciting). This rarely bothered me. I knew my time would come and I knew that I would have my fair share of romantic endeavors. That was until I realized that, among my group of friends from high school, college and beyond, I had become the last fish in the barrel. That is to say, I am the only one who has yet to have sex.

All of a sudden, knowing my younger sister had passed this supposed “milestone” became too much for me to handle. I was no longer the cool, collected, secure-in-herself older sister I had always been. I was constantly thinking about my “virginity,” to the point where I felt like I was wearing it like a red flag. It gave me anxiety to feel like the last one, to feel like all of my friends had lapped me in the proverbial race that represented how I saw romance.

So much of our society is predicated on the prowess of coming in first (no pun intended). We are constantly compared to, ranked among and analyzed alongside one another. It seems totally logical, because it’s the way we have been brought up to see the world, but if we take a step back, we can see that it doesn’t really make that much sense. After all, how are we expected to enjoy or reflect on any of what we’ve done if all that matters is how it looks in comparison to someone else and the things they’ve done? If it’s about coming in first (or at least not coming in last), time is of the essence. Everything is timed, and we’re all pitted against each other.

If we’re looking for love in our romantic endeavors, this certainly doesn’t seem like a way to it. And even if we’re not, it still doesn’t really make sense that we’re viewing this as a competition. We reduce romance to this arbitrary end result, and lose any ability to enjoy our experiences in the process. Even if sex and dating aren’t about finding “the one,” even if it’s about satisfying desires or just having fun, what’s the point in doing any of that if it’s just for the sake of ranking yourself?

Related: How Often Are College Women REALLY Having Sex?

As I started to settle into the knowledge that I was the last “virgin,” I came to realize that that wasn’t a way of seeing sex or romance or passion or courtship that I was comfortable with. I came to realize that whether or not I had had sex meant nothing.

So, this article that I’m writing is about a lot of things. It’s about how I think that “virginity” isn’t a great way to conceptualize your first time. It’s about how “first time” isn’t something we should be racing toward in an effort to out-compete one another, but it’s also about how you shouldn’t feel obligated to wait if your first time having sex is something you want to do. It’s about how I came to realize that it really didn’t mean anything that I was the last “virgin” among the people I knew, unless I wanted it to.

It’s about how, in an effort to live your life without regrets, you should make these experiences ones you’re proud of. It’s about how that means different things for different people. You can absolutely be proud of something that your friend might find completely embarrassing or regrettable. You can be proud of something I might seem to denounce in this piece. My ultimate message, though, and what I hope you take away from reading this, is that it’s about you.

While looking for pictures to accompany this article, when I searched “virginity,” the most common result was some varying image of a single flower. An orchid, a rose and other singular flowers I am not capable of identifying with my limited botanical experience came up. They all had this one thing in common—they are pictured alone.

This struck me as slightly ominous at first, and perhaps if I had a different understanding of virginity, that meaning would have resonated with me most. Maybe these pictures have some relation to the notion of “deflowering,” another highly problematic term that requires another article in its entirety for me to grapple with. So, at first, I was perplexed. But then I realized that this was the exact point I was trying to make.

Regardless of how you conceptualize your first kiss, your first time or any of your romantic endeavors, what I believe is important is the notion of you and “your.” At the end of the day, you are the one with the memories and the power to feel good (or bad) about them. You are the one to whom your experiences belong, and you can’t let anyone take that away from you. Not younger sisters, friends nor society at large.

I know that this topic may seem tired. I know I might sound like an inexperienced weirdo shouting into the void, like I’m sitting here petulant and whiny about how no one has had sex with me. I certainly know I’m not the first person to have written about this topic, but, given the amount of time I still spend thinking about how my sister had sex for the first time before I did, I feel like a reminder might be necessary. And this isn’t just a reminder that terms like “deflowering,” “v-card swiping” and “cherry,” to name a few, are completely arbitrary.

This is a reminder that, in the world of romance, in my experience anyway, we often forget to put ourselves first. We forget that, like Cristina Yang says, we are the sun. We let other people’s standards get mixed up with how we feel about ourselves, and end up not feeling too good about ourselves! This means that it’s necessary to rethink how we feel. We have to set our individual standards straight so that, when the time comes to have sex or to evaluate how we feel about having sex, we are comfortable with the terms, with ourselves and with how we feel. Only then can we be remotely comfortable with whoever else is involved.

When I first sat down to write this, I wanted to effectively preach my position about how virginity is meaningless. And I still believe that—virginity is a concept that was made up to make women feel bad about themselves. To slut shame, in effect.

But my opinions are meaningless if they’re that one-dimensional or one-sided. After giving this more thought, I understand that there are religious, personal and other reasons why people want their “first time” to be special. Hopefully this piece has made clear that I don’t want anyone to feel bad about making that a reality. I hope your first time is special if you want it to be! I know people at all positions on the spectrum. Friends who thought they didn’t care if their first time wasn’t “special,” friends who thought they didn’t care but then realized they did after the fact and friends who did have sex for the first time with people they loved.

All of these experiences are relative, and I’ve told all of these friends the same thing. I’ve told them that, no matter how they choose to deal with the events, I’ll support them, and that no one else has any dictation over how they classify these experiences. Just them. If they feel good, that is all that matters.

So have sex with all of the people you want, or wait for Mr. or Ms. Right. Be in between, have sex with a handful of people you do or don’t like, love or don’t love. Just remember that the power is in your hands, and that, though the power that societal standards possess may seem immutable, no one has the right or the ability to decide how you feel except for you.

11 Exercises You Can Do Without Leaving Your Bed

$

We’ve all had mornings where the alarm goes off, signaling it’s time for your workout—but you just cannot even. Or maybe you have a big day of work ahead of you, and the very act of getting out of bed is daunting and unwelcome. Here’s a compromise: instead of hitting the snooze button again, complete a short workout without actually leaving your bed. Productive procrastination anyone?

1. Hip Bridge

With your knees bent and feet planted on the bed, keep your arms at your side, squeeze your glutes together, lift your hips and hold for 1 minute.

2. Jack Knife

Lie down with your arms above your head and keep your legs straight. Lift up your legs and arms to meet, then slowly release down. Complete 15 reps.

3. Toe Touches

Start with your legs lifted to the ceiling and arms lying flat above your head, making an “L” shape with your body. Reach up vertically to touch your toes, crunching your abs in the process, and then slowly lower back to starting position. Complete 20 reps.

4. Leg lifts

Start with your legs lying flat and arms either behind your head, under your lower back, or to the side. Lift your legs up until they are perpendicular to the bed, then slowly lower back down (the slower you go the harder the workout). Bonus points if you can complete reps without touching the ground in between. Complete 20 reps.

5. Outer thigh lifts

Lie on your right side, using your right arm to support your head, and keep your legs stacked on top of each other. Slowly lift your left leg to about a 60-degree angle from the ground, then slowly release back down without touching your right leg between reps. Complete 30 reps on each side.

6. Inner thigh lifts

Lie on your right side, and use your right arm to support your head. Bend your left leg and place your left foot over your right leg. Lift your right leg using your inner thigh, foot flexed, in tiny pulses without releasing to the bed between pulses. Complete 30 reps on each side.

7. Scissor kicks

Lie on your back, arms either under your lower back or to the sides. Lift your legs to a 45-degree angle and drop the left leg while raising the right, then raising the left and dropping the right. That’s one rep. Complete 20 reps without returning your legs to the ground. (P.S. the lower your legs to the ground, the harder the workout because your abs are working more.)

8. Planks

Try this six minute plank routine to work your abs and arms, 1 minute in each position: forearm center, right, left, then arms extended center, right, left. Your abs will have to work harder if you plank on a bed because your grounding surface isn’t as stable.

9. Butterfly Crunches

Lay on your back, heels pressed together and thighs apart, as close to touching the bed as is comfortable, with your arms supporting your head. Slowly crunch up, and then slowly release back down. Complete 25 reps.

10. Push ups

We may hate them, but face it — they’re an effective and simple workout for both your abs and your arms. Start in an extended plank position, abs tucked in and back flat. Slowly bend your arms until you are as low as you can get without dropping to the bed, and then extend back to starting. If you need to, drop to your knees instead of your toes. Complete 25 reps.

11. Stretch

Stretching is so important and a great way to start your day. Touch your toes, stretch out your arms above your head, do a few downward and upward dogs and just give some love to any muscles that might be feeling overworked. Take it easy and don’t overextend though, otherwise you might injure yourself.

These exercises are easy, equipment-free and you don’t even have to get out of bed. Whether you’re just waking up or in need of a study break, complete a few (or all!) of these to strengthen your muscles and give your brain a break. Remember to go slowly, as this actually makes your muscles work harder and will ensure your form is perfect.

Black Pride, Feminism, A Destiny's Child Reunion & More: Everything You Missed From Beyoncé's Iconic Coachella Performance

After Beyoncé headlined the iconic music and arts festival on Saturday night, it became official — Coachella is no more. It will now be known as "Beychella." DJ Khaled certainly didn't coin the term, but he increased its popularity after a clip surfaced of him declaring, "Coachella will have to change the name to Beychella." The term remained on Twitter's top trending topics throughout Sunday morning, making it clear that Beyoncé didn't just show up and perform — she made the festival hers.

A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce) on

The performance was also quite literally historic. Beyoncé was the first-ever black woman to headline the festival. She acknowledged the milestone during her set, "Thank you Coachella for allowing me to be the first black woman to headline. Ain’t that ‘bout a bitch?"

In the process, Beyoncé highlighted themes of black pride (singing what's often referred to as the Black National Anthem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing," and quoting Malcom X), feminism (performing her empowered hits "Diva,""Formation," and "Flawless," asking the women in the audience and those watching at home, "Are we smart? Are we strong? Have we had enough?" and her prelude to the feminist "Run the World (Girls)" when she thanked the women who paved the way for her), along with higher education (using a full-on HBCU marching band and displaying a slew of historically black college/university traditions), to name a few.

Twitter went particularly crazy for the latter, and many said they were ready to enroll in Beyoncé's "HBeyCU." The star donned a variety of costumes throughout the show, some of which doubled as what appeared to be school merchandise for a Beyoncé-themed university. One particular outfit had a customized school crest, complete with an image of Nefertiti, a black panther, a black power fist, and a bee.

Another outfit was reminiscent of college: a yellow sweatshirt with the Greek letters Beta Delta Kappa. Instead of interpreting their literal translation, many fans thought Beyoncé wanted people to see how they read in English — BAK. As in, Beyoncé is back.

And while there's no doubting that Beyoncé was the star of the show even among the incredible marching band and talented dancers, she also brought out a few guests; most notably, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland. Yep, Destiny's Child reunited. The trio sang "Lose My Breath,""Say My Name," and "Soldier" in coordinated camouflage outfits.

Beyoncé's sister Solange and Jay-Z also made appearances.

The show ended on a perfect note, too.

Starbucks CEO Apologized For The 'Reprehensible' Arrest Of Two Black Men At A Philadelphia Store, Who Witnesses Said Were 'Doing Nothing'

Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson issued an apology on Saturday after a video of two black men being arrested at a Philadelphia store location went viral. The video was posted by a witness who said the men were merely "waiting for a friend to show up," only to be taken out in handcuffs for "doing nothing."

Johnson called the video "hard to watch," adding that the actions in it are "not representative" of Starbucks Mission and Values. He offered his "deepest apologies" to the two men, who, according to the Washington Post, were asked to leave the Starbucks by a manager after they attempted to use the restroom despite not making any purchases. Afterward, the manager called 911.

The men's attorney, Lauren Wimmer, insisted the same thing the witness who posted the video did: they were just waiting for a friend. Specifically, they had planned to meet Andrew Yaffe, who runs a real estate firm, to discuss business opportunities. At least six officers showed up to the Starbucks location and took the men to a police station where they were "fingerprinted and photographed," and released eight hours later "because the district attorney found no evidence of a crime," reports the Washington Post

Other witnesses recorded the incident, and in one video, Yaffe can be seen arriving and talking to police. "Why would they be asked to leave?” Yaffe says in the video. "Does anybody else think this is ridiculous? It’s absolute discrimination."

Off-camera, a woman can be heard saying, "They didn’t do anything."

"Creating an environment that is both safe and welcoming for everyone is paramount for every store," Johnson said. "Regretfully, our practices and training led to a bad outcome—the basis for the call to the Philadelphia police department was wrong. Our store manager never intended for these men to be arrested and this should never have escalated as it did."

Philadelphia's mayor, Jim Kenney, also spoke out about what happened. "I am heartbroken to see Philadelphia in the headlines for an incident that — at least based on what we know at this point — appears to exemplify what racial discrimination looks like in 2018."

The police commissioner of Philadelphia saw the incident differently, and is actually defending the actions of the officers. According to CNN, Ross said that his officers "did absolutely nothing wrong."

"[The officers] did a service that they were called to do," Ross said. "And if you think about it logically, that if a business calls and they say that someone is here that I no longer wish to be in my business, (officers) now have a legal obligation to carry out their duties. And they did just that."

The two men remain unidentified.

Thousands Around The World Participated In The 2018 March For Science

The second-annual March for Science may not have drawn the same amount of people it did in 2017, but thousands across the globe still joined together to voice their support for science. This came in many forms, from people calling for evidence-based policymaking to action on climate change, among others.

According to BuzzFeed News, the main march took place in Washington, D.C., and cities such as Los Angeles, New York City, Munich, Delhi and Durban, South Africa held satellite marches.

The initial March for Science took place last April in response to a number of things, such as Trump's denial of climate change, the White House attempting to impose gag orders on the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Agriculture, and the roll-back of environmental and climate regulations, among others.

According to the March for Science official website, its organizers aim to "work toward a future where science is fully embraced in public life and policy." The organization added that it "empowers a global community of science supporters for nonpartisan advocacy in service of equitable and effective science and science policy."
