5 Hairstyles That Don’t Require Any Braiding

Sure, wearing your hair naturally is a great look, but be honest: don’t you get bored of it? Whether it’s straight or curly, sometimes you just want a look to switch things up a bit. Of course, there’s always the issue of being, shall we say, ungifted when it comes to styling—if braids are not your forte, we feel you. But, everyone should have an arsenal of hairstyles up their sleeve, so we put together a list of some amazing hairstyles (all braid-free) that will make you look fabulous without the frustration.

1. Rolled bun

The great thing about this style is its versatility. You can wear it casually to class or even when you go out at night. To achieve this effortless look, start with a little bit of teasing and some hairspray to give your hair some body. Separate your hair into two sections, then twist each one towards the base of your neck and secure each one with a bobby pin. Next, take the ends of both sections and roll them towards your head. Secure the bun with a bobby pin. Voila! It looks like you spent hours creating this chic bun even though it only takes minutes.

2. Pull-thru pony

This might be one of the simplest looks you can pull off. All you need to do is pull your hair back into a low ponytail then take the pony and pull it through the area above the elastic. This creates a classic twisted pony that will have everyone fooled.

3. Faux-braid pony

The coolest part of this hairstyle is that it actually looks like you braided your hair. No fear though, there is absolutely zero braiding involved in this look. To start, put your hair in a side pony, then take a piece and wrap it around the elastic to hide it. Next, use another elastic around the middle of the ponytail; it should look very similar to a bubbly pony. Split the area in between both elastics and thread the end of the pony through it. Take a small piece of hair and wrap it around that elastic. Repeat those steps twice more (depending on how long your hair is) and secure with a final elastic. Not only does this hairstyle looks super intricate, the fact that you look like a master braider doesn’t hurt either.

4. Faux-French braid

This is look is everything you love about a braid without the braiding. To begin, pull your hair to one side, then separate the first section and secure it with a super thin elastic. Take the second section and secure that with an elastic as well. Then, split the ponytail from the first section in half, and pull the second pony through and secure it with a clip to hold it in place.

Next, take the remaining sections, create a new section of hair, and secure them with an elastic. Release the clipped hair, separate it into two sections and pull the other section through it, securing it to your head with a clip for the time being. Keep on repeating the same steps until you’ve secured all your hair, and only have a ponytail left. Then separate the pony into two sections and secure an elastic to create a bubble in one ponytail. Split the ‘bubble’ in half and thread the other pony through the opening, pulling it all the way through. Repeat this step until you run out of hair, and secure with an elastic.

Okay, so this sounds super confusing, but watch the video and you’ll be surprised at just how easy this style is. No one will ever know that it isn’t a real braid!

5. Loose, sideways French twist

This elegant look can be achieved with only a few simple steps…and a few bobby pins as well. First, separate the top section of your hair, and secure it with bobby pins to create a pulled back look. For extra volume, tease underneath and add some hairspray. Then take one side of the remaining hair and roll it towards the back of your head where your hair is secured. Secure this section with bobby pins. Repeat this step twice more, continuing from the same side you started. Leave some hair out on the opposite side. Take that remaining hair and pull it over the top of the bun you’ve created, then hook it down and underneath and secure it with bobby pins. Finish off with some hairspray for a tight hold. What you’re left with is a classic, chic updo that works for any occasion.

It might feel like the only worthy hairstyles require braiding skills, but that’s oh so wrong. With these cute styles at your disposal, you’ll look fabulous without all the braiding hassle.

Trump Tower Catches Fire, Leaves 1 Resident Dead & Injures 6 Firefighters

A resident is dead and six firefighters were injured after a fire broke out in an apartment in New York’s Trump Tower on Saturday evening.

Todd Brassner, the resident who resided in the apartment, was pulled from the apartment by firefighters and taken to Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospital, ABC News reports. Brassner was unconscious at the time, but was later pronounced dead.

According to USA Today, the fire broke out shortly after 5 p.m. local time in the 58-story building.

At the peak of the blaze, flames raged from the windows of the apartment and ash fell to the street below. 200 fire and emergency personnel battled the four-alarm fire, sweeping the surrounding floors and apartments to determine the cause of the blaze, ABC News reports.

The New York Fire Department (FDNY) declared the fire under control around 8 p.m. local time. However, according to ABC News, six firefighters did suffer non-life-threatening injuries, two of them burn-related, FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said during a press conference.

According to Nigro, the apartment was “completely on fire (but) members pushed on heroically.”

“This was a very difficult fire,” Nigro said. “As you can imagine, the apartment is quite large. We are 50 stories up. The rest of the building had a considerable amount of smoke.”

The residences at Trump Tower do not have a sprinkler system. The 58-story building was completed in 1983, several years before it was required that high-rise residential buildings have sprinkler systems, according to USA Today.

President Trump was not in New York City at the time of the fire, but Nigro did say that the Secret Service accompanied firefighters to check on the Trumps’ private residence, USA Today reports.

Trump took to Twitter on Saturday to thank the firefighters who responded to fire.

“Fire at Trump Tower is out. Very confined (well built building). Firemen (and women) did a great job. THANK YOU!” Trump wrote.

Trump’s son, Eric Trump, also thanked the firefighters on Twitter, writing, “Thank you to the amazing men and women of the NYFD who extinguished a fire in a residential apartment at @TrumpTower. The @FDNY and @NYPD are truly some of the most incredible people anywhere!”

Fire broke out at Trump Tower earlier this year when an electrical box for the building's heating and cooling system caused a fire on the roof of the building.

Syrian Government Accused of Chemical Attack, Killing Dozens

Dozens of Syrians, mainly women and children, have died after a chemical attack in Douma, the last rebel-held area in the eastern region of the country, NPR reports.

According to the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS), a medical relief organization, the Saturday attack has left more than 49 people dead, The Huffington Postreports. Syrian Civil Defense, a pro-opposition group also known as the White Helmets, have said that over 40 people have died. The several reports on the death toll of the attack vary, and have not been independently verified.

UOSSM, a medical aid association, told NPR that the attack was a one-two chemical attack, in which two attacks were deployed. The first attack appeared to use chlorine gas and most of those affected were able to be treated at the hospital. A second attack occurred approximately a half-hour later, this time using a stronger chemical agent, NPR reports.

According to the Syrian Civil Defense and SAMS, those that were affected by the chemical agent in the second attack showed “signs of respiratory distress, central cyanosis, excessive oral foaming, corneal burns, and the emission of chlorine-like odor.”

President Trump took to Twitter on Sunday to condemn the attacks, lashing out at Russian President Putin and Iran for backing Syrian President Bashar Assad, as well as criticized former President Barack Obama for not eradicating the conflict in Syria “long ago.”

“Many dead, including women and children, in mindless CHEMICAL attack in Syria. Area of atrocity is in lockdown and encircled by Syrian Army, making it completely inaccessible to outside world. President Putin, Russia and Iran are responsible for backing Animal Assad. Big price...to pay. Open area immediately for medical help and verification. Another humanitarian disaster for no reason whatsoever. SICK!” Trump wrote over a series of tweets.

“If President Obama had crossed his stated Red Line In The Sand, the Syrian disaster would have ended long ago! Animal Assad would have been history!” Trump also wrote, referencing to Obama’s 2012 pledge to intervene if the Syrian government deployed a chemical attack on its people, HuffPost reports.

According to HuffPost, the U.S. State Department said on Sunday that it was investigating to determine if the Syrian government was responsible for the chemical attack.

“Reports from a number of contacts and medical personnel on the ground indicate a potentially high number of casualties, including among families hiding in shelters,” State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said in a statement. “These reports, if confirmed, are horrifying and demand an immediate response by the international community.”

The Syrian government has always denied using chemical agents against its civilians or opposition forces. In a statement on its website, the Russian Foreign Ministry has said that allegations about this chemical attack are “fabricated,” claiming that these allegations were invented by rebel forces and the Syrian Civil Defense, ABC News reports.

The Russian government, according to ABC News, has also warned the U.S. of “military intervention” in Syria over the allegations of this chemical attack, adding that any such attack would be “unacceptable” and lead to the “most serious consequences.”

“It is necessary to warn again that military intervention under invented and fabricated pretexts in Syria, where at the request of the lawful government there are Russian military personnel, is absolutely unacceptable and can lead to the most serious consequences,” the statement said. “The aim of these false speculations, that have no basis, is to shield the terrorists and the irreconcilable radical opposition, who reject a political solution, at the same time while trying to justify possible armed strikes from outside.”

This chemical attack came just over a year after Trump order dozens of air strikes on a Syrian regime air base for its alleged use of sarin gas that killed approximately 100 people, ABC News reports.

Last week, Trump said that the U.S. would be removing troops from Syria “very soon” during a rally in Ohio. He reiterated this statement during a press conference on Tuesday, ABC News reports.

“It's time. We were successful against ISIS,” Trump said. “We'll be successful against anybody militarily, but sometimes it's time to come back home — and we're thinking about that very seriously.”

However, the White House backpedaled on Trump’s comments on Wednesday, with White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders telling reporters that Trump wasn’t going “to put an arbitrary timeline” on the withdrawal of troops.

The rumors are true: Cardi B is expecting!

During her Saturday Night Live appearance, Cardi B performed two songs. In her first performance, the Bronx-born rapper performed her hit song “Bodak Yellow” wearing a feathery black and white ensemble, intentionally hiding her stomach, Entertainment Tonight (ET) reports.

But during her second performance, for her song “Be Careful,” Cardi B emerged in a fitted white dress, displaying her baby bump for everyone to see.

She looked absolutely radiant, and the crowd gasps with excitement and began to cheer.

After her performance, according to Us Magazine, the 25-year-old rapper walked backstage to greet her friends, exclaiming, “I’m finally free!”

There had been rumors going around for weeks speculating that Cardi B was expecting her first child with her fiancé, Offset, who proposed to her at a concert in Philadelphia in October 2017, Us Magazine reports.

They both denied the rumors at the time.

"Well, you know, I just feel like people have to tune in a little bit on my album, and they will know a little bit more,” she said. “Because it’s like, I can’t address all the rumors and everything."

And while celebrating the her album release at E11EVEN in Miami on Friday night, Cardi B wore a loose-fitting outfit that hid any signs of her pregnancy, ET reports.

Jenner and Scott, however, are not yet contemplating getting married, an insider previously told PEOPLE, and the couple is opting to live in separate homes.

“It’s not anything that Kylie seems to be focused on,” an insider told PEOPLE. The new parents have been spending time together as a family, including spending Easter together.

“Despite being new parents, Kylie and Travis are still in a new relationship, too,” a source told PEOPLE. “Kylie is happy with their living situation. Travis is a great dad. When he wants to work, Kylie is supportive.”

It appears, however, that the couple has been making it a priority to spend time together, including a recent lunch date with family and friends at Nobu Malibu in February, where Jenner showed off her push present from Scott: a $1.4 million black Ferrari.

15 Things You Should Know About Dating a Girl with a Double Major

$
0
0

She may spend more time in her advisor's office than at your place, but that doesn't mean she loves her advisor more. If you're dating a girl with a double major, there are probably a few things you've already figured out about how to make it work. Trust us when we say there's a lot more to know about her. Here are 15 things you should be ready for if your girl has taken this on!

1. Her schedule is literally insane

College is busy enough with one major, but a second major completely changes the game. Some days, she will literally plan out every second of her day because that’s the only way to get everything done.

2. She won’t always have time for you

That busy schedule means making time for you and her friends is a challenge. She’s juggling a double course load, student organizations, sleep, family, friends and you. She won’t be able to spend as much time with you as she would like, but that doesn’t mean she cares for you any less.

3. You won’t see her out at the bars every night

You probably won’t see her out at the bars every weekend either. Juggling two majors means having to choose between getting her work done and going out with her friends—and if she’s ambitious enough to choose a second major, you know which option she’ll choose nine times out of 10.

4. She’ll be stressed out a lot

Chances are her course load is about as stressful as it gets. She won’t always be in the best mood, and the stress will get to her sometimes.

5. She needs you to be her support system

There’s nothing wrong with being your girlfriend’s biggest cheerleader. After a long day of classes and homework, all she wants is a shoulder to lean on or a pep talk to keep her going.

6. She hates when people ask why she’s doing this to herself

Honestly, she probably doesn’t have a good answer most days when she’s struggling to make it through the week. Another question she’d rather not answer is what she plans to do with her majors, especially if they don’t appear to coincide.

7. Her bank account will take a hit

A double major means a whole new set of classes to fit into four years, which means a higher tuition rate and more books and supplies to buy. She might have to work extra hours to make ends meet, or she may be extra frugal with her money and ask to stay in more.

8. Her planner is literally her best friend

With a schedule like hers, if there’s one thing she can’t live without, it’s her planner. Without it, she would forget half of her responsibilities. Don’t make fun if she literally takes it everywhere.

9. She’s passionate about her majors

Chances are she’s not double-majoring because she feels obligated to. She’s double-majoring because she’s super passionate about at least one of her majors. One may be a “safe” major but the other is likely what she loves most, or they both are.

10. She may choose Netflix over you

Or your date night will turn into a Netflix and pizza night. Some nights she might just be too tired to do anything but snuggle up in bed and watch Gossip Girl. But hey, you’ll definitely earn brownie points if you go see her anyway and keep her company.

11. She’s lucky if she gets six hours of sleep a night

Gone are the days of a cozy eight hours or more of sleep every night. Most nights, she gets around five hours of sleep. Beware—sleep deprivation may bring out the worst in her.

12. She lives off of coffee

She’s pretty much addicted to the stuff by this point. She’s used to staying up late to study or finish up homework and turns to coffee to keep her awake in her morning lectures. You’ll for sure bring a smile to her face if you surprise her with coffee just the way she likes it.

13. She may not be able to graduate on time

Some majors share requirements, but some are too different to rely on dual-credit to graduate on time. She may be on a five-year plan, which could affect both of your futures.

14. Don’t ask her to pick a favorite major

That’s basically like asking a mom to pick a favorite child.

15. She’s a badass

Anyone who decides to take on a second major and still manages to make time for everything else in her life is pretty badass. So give yourself a pat on the back—you’re dating a rock star.

What to Pick Up & Skip at Lululemon

Leggings, sports bras, accessories — what should you pick up or skip at Lululemon? With so much to choose from, it’s hard to know what is and isn’t worth buying. When the price tag isn’t cheap, you want to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth! That’s why we’ve talked to women about which products are musts and which aren’t worth the splurge. Take notes, and happy shopping!

Pick up:

Naked Sensation leggings

If you love being in the nude (but don’t want to get arrested while working out), the Naked Sensation leggings are perfect for you. Both the Align Crop ($88) and Align Pant II ($98) come in this fabric, so you have options.

Jasmine Yadeta, a junior at the University of Victoria, says the naked sensation leggings are amazing. “I wear them maybe every second of every day,” she says. “They do exactly as the name implies, they feel like you are wearing nothing, which is an ideal state. Well worth the money for all the wear I get out of it.”

Reddit user rotorstorm agrees: “I LOVE the Align pant. The moment I put it on I wanted fourteen pairs. I've been wearing Wunder Unders for years (I'm an ex-competitive figure skater, so I've put them through their paces), and the Align pant is absolutely better. I can't speak to their durability yet, but the fabric is so much softer, I love how high-waisted they are, and they don't seem to pill as quickly as Wunder Unders.” Sounds good to us!

Dresses

Looking for a comfortable dress you can relax in or wear out? Lululemon is the place to go! Juli Cehula, a junior at Saint Vincent College, says Lululemon dresses are the best.

“Super comfy, easy to dress up or dress down, and look great for a long time!” she says. “The store says they are to be worn after a workout, but I wear them to go out, to make a quick run to the grocery store, or just about anything. The price is not expensive for the wear you get out of them.”

Try out the Go For It Dress ($39) or the Rather Be Gathered Dress ($98)!

Headbands

Lululemon’s clothes aren’t just what all the hype is about. According to Mara Hyman, a University of Southern California graduate, the headbands are worth the price!

“They have a great grip, don't snag my hair, and are perfect for high intensity workouts,” she says. “Plus they come in a variety of colors and aren't too expensive compared to the rest of their accessories.”

Reddit user UCgirl says, “Say what you want about Lululemon, but these hairbands are awesome. They have grippers AND are adjustable so you can tighten and loosen.”

The Fly Away Tamer is only $12, the Cardio Cross Trainer is only $14, and the Fringe Fighter is only $18!

Skip:

Sports bras

The Lululemon sports bras may not be worth the price tag (around $50). Katie Smith, a junior at James Madison University, says, “The sports bra sizing runs small and I feel suffocated whenever I wear mine.”

Reddit user strawberrykiwi1 says, “I LOVE lululemon but their bras really are not meant for chicks with larger than like C cup breasts. In real life I'm like a 32D and there I have to wear a 34DD.” If you need more support, opt for a cheaper option that may be more comfortable.

Tops

While the tops are cute and may sound good in theory, we got some different feedback.

Vivian Porcelli, a Binghamton University graduate, says she “went for a run wearing a Lululemon top and it got uncomfortably heavy with sweat.” Now, she’ll only wear it to yoga!

Reddit user petra_reuter says, “I find the tanks with built in bras aren't supportive enough so I just wear a real sports bra underneath.” If you’re looking for something to lounge in or wear for low-impact activities, the tops may be fine — but the price tag probably isn’t worth it if you want to wear it for running or other high-impact activities!

Next time you’re itching for some new workout gear, think twice before adding everything to your cart on Lululemon’s website! Although the clothes are adorable, take these women’s advice and realize that not everything is worth the price tag. Good luck, collegiettes!

How She Got There: Robin Bishow, WNBA Director of Corporate Development

$

0

Name: Robin Bishow
Age: 31
Job Title: Director of Corporate Development, WNBA
College Name/Major:Undergrad: New York University, Finance and Accounting, Master of Business Administration: UCLA

What does your current job entail? Is there such a thing as a typical day?

As the Director of Corporate Development at the WNBA, my job is very broad in scope. No day is ever the same, which is what I love about my position. I work with almost every department across the larger NBA organization to drive the WNBA business forward, with the goal of introducing our product to new people and giving our fans an experience that goes beyond basketball, to inspire and empower the next generation. In my role, I oversee our events, including WNBA All-Star and WNBA Draft, and work our events team and our live production and entertainment team on the in-venue and on-air components. I work closely with our twelve teams to assist with ticket sales, sponsorship and marketing initiatives in their local markets.

I also partner with our marketing and public relations teams on our branding campaigns, paid and unpaid media, as well as our digital and social media teams on our content and voice across our various platforms and products. It can be a lot to juggle – but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is knowing that everyone who works for or with the WNBA has a shared value of believing our game makes an impact. Our players, front office staff, owners, coaches and referees are all working together to push beyond the world of sport to show young girls and boys what is truly possible. We stand for equality and diversity, inclusion and empowerment. Being a part of this vehicle for change, seeing the impact we have on the younger generation first hand, is unique in a career and pushes me forward each and every day.

What was your first entry-level job in your field and how did you get it?

Right out of college I took a job with Turner Broadcasting in their ad sales finance department as a financial analyst. I was responsible for working closely with the sales team and inventory management team to forecast and budget monthly advertising sales for Turner’s twenty plus digital properties. There was no magic sauce to getting the job. I didn’t have any connections within the company, but I did my research, wore my best lady suit, and made sure to nail the interview.

What words of wisdom do you find most valuable?

The first department head I worked for told me to never apologize. “Apologizes only put you in a weak position, and women can’t afford that in the corporate world.” Instead, make it clear that you have learned from the error and how you will modify your approach in the future. This has proved invaluable in my career and is something I employ daily.

What is one mistake you made along the way and what did you learn from it?

Early in my career I wanted to prove that I could work faster than anyone else in the group and thought that would lead to managers giving me additional, more complex assignments. But speed often comes at the cost of accuracy or worse, lack of innovation. Management wants to see that you are thinking about multiple ways to solve the presented problem. Taking the time to breakdown the problem and approach it from multiple vantages will prove you are ready thinking about the bigger picture and ready for greater challenges.

What do you look for when considering hiring someone?

For me, the most important quality in a candidate is a passion for the industry, a desire to learn and a demonstrated willingness to jump in on any task no matter how big or small. Working at the WNBA, we are always the underdog. I need individuals who are ready to roll up their selves and put in the sweat equity on a daily basis.

What advice would you give to a 20-something with similar aspirations?

Meaningfully network. Some people say it’s how many people you know, I think it’s more about how many people will advocate on your behalf. I have personally experienced greater success from making a strong impact on one or two people in the industry or position I was interested in versus meeting a hundred people who won’t remember your name after the evening’s event. While I think this is particularly important in the entertainment and sports industry since they are notably tight knit communities, I believe the same advice can be applied regardless of your specific career aspirations.

What's the one thing that's stood out to you the most in a resume?

Everyone these days has a good education, has multiple stand out internships and leads ten plus clubs on campus. Candidates now really need to stand out by bringing their personality to life on their resume. One of my favorites was a woman who started a rugby team at her school. Another was an individual who took it upon herself to find and interview over 200 people in the sports industry to create her own sports blog. Whatever your passion is, make room for it on your resume (and maybe be deleting the laundry list of clubs).

HC Wake-Up Call: White House Chief of Staff John Kelly Had Reportedly Threatened to Quit, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt Faces New Criticisms Over Cost of Security Detail & Dr. Evil Says He is the Recent Member to Leave the Trump Administration

$
0
0

Good morning Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds—we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly Had Reportedly Threatened to Quit

According to an article by Axios, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly reportedly threatened to quit his post in late March.

On March 28, according to the report, Kelly and President Trump were engaged in a heated discussion in the Oval Office when Kelly stormed out and vowed to quit as he walked to his office.

Several people were requested to talk to Kelly to calm him down, and ultimately Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, who Kelly is said to trust the most as far as members of the Trump administration go, “talked him off a ledge.”

According to CNBC, Trump and Kelly are often said to be at odds with one another, disagreeing about several issues, including whether the EPA administrator, Scott Pruitt, should be forced to step down.

The Chief of Staff has had issues reining in the president, and it has been circulated around Washington D.C. that Kelly’s days in the White House might be numbered, CNBC reports.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt Faces New Criticisms Over Cost of Security Detail

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt is facing new criticisms regarding the size and costs of his security detail, adding to the list of criticisms on Pruitt’s questionable actions.

According to CNN, Pruitt has 19 agents on his security team, along with a fleet of 19 vehicles. When considering the costs of training for these agents, gas for the vehicles and salaries, the costs easily go into the millions.

CNN, using public documents, calculated that salaries for Pruitt’s security team costs at least $2 million a year, and that’s not including travel, training or equipment.

Members of Congress are raising questions about Pruitt’s need for such a large security detail, citing concerns about a “potential waste or abuse of taxpayer dollars,” particularly when President Trump had reduced the EPA’s budget for things such as enforcement work and staffing, CNN reports.

The size of Pruitt’s security detail is unprecedented, as no EPA administrator has ever had 24/7 security detail before, CNN reports.

Earlier this week, CNN reported that Pruitt’s security detail had even been extended to some of his personal trips, including a family trip to Disneyland.  He has also been criticized of racking up travel costs by flying first class or taking private and military flights instead of flying commercial.

However, the EPA said in a statement, “According to EPA's assistant inspector general, Scott Pruitt has faced an unprecedented amount of death threats against him and his family. Americans should all agree that members of the President's Cabinet should be kept safe from these violent threats.”

Pruitt has also faced scrutiny for renting out a room in a condo owned by the wife of an energy lobbyist.

A spokesperson for House Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy confirmed to CNN on Friday that he is looking into the EPA administrator’s actions.

Dr. Evil Says He is the Recent Member to Leave the Trump Administration

The White House has been a revolving door throughout President Trump’s administration so far. And it looks like a new member has left the administration. *insert evil laugh here*

The most recent member to leave the White House is… Dr. Evil!

According to PopSugar, Mike Myers reprised his role as Dr. Evil on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and confessed that he was fired by Trump. (Can you hear Trump saying his famous “You’re Fired!” line from the days of The Apprentice?)

Dr. Evil gave us a little insight on all the behind-the-scenes drama at the White House. He also said that he was “naturally” going to be Trump’s pick for “Secretary of Evil,” but “Steven Bannon got that job.”

Dr. Evil took credit for all of the ~evil~ things to come out of the White House, including the idea for the wall along the southern border, PopSugar reports.

But Dr. Evil did say that he did not propose the deportation of the Dreamers.

“No, Jimmy, even I have my limits. I'm evil but I'm not a monster,” he told Fallon.

Shay Mitchell Is Being Accused Of Posting Fake Vacation Pics—Here’s How She Responded

Shay Mitchell wants you to know that she is really on vacation

After the actress posted a series of Instagram pics showcasing her trips to various countries in Asia, fans began to speculate that the images weren't exactly original. Some even called her a Pretty Little Liar (sorry, we couldn't resist!).

Mitchell posted the below image on April 1st, and it features buildings in Tokyo. A reverse image search revealed that the photo was uploaded by a Tumblr user in 2014. Though Mitchell never claimed to have taken the photo herself, fans blew up her comments asking her to take the photo down, or at least credit the original photographer.

The former PLL star also posted a photo to her Instagram story during her travels, that showed off Hong Kong's Monster Building. But, if you look closely, a cursor is visible on the left side of the picture. She captioned the pic "Night Views," and the screenshot is from Stylecaster

Mitchell eventually started crediting the original photographers of some of her snapshots, like this one below of terracotta statues of an army, and another one of a door in Shanghai.

And, to prove she actually was on the vacation she posted so frequently about, Mitchell posted a few shots of her and the sites. She even poked fun at the conspiracy that her vacation never really happened.

"View so nice it almost looks... fake," she captioned the photo.

In another, she wrote, "I was here. Montane mansion, Hong Kong."

Now that we all know Shay is actually on vacay, let's leave her to enjoy, shall we?

My 3-Year Relationship Ended, But It Was Still a Success

I am the product of a divorce.

Those were the words that haunted me for years. The words that seeped into my skin every time I allowed someone close enough to touch mine. The words that hung in my rearview mirror every time I left home. And most recently the words that my newlywed friends remind me of every time I offer love advice.

I believe in love. I believe in true love. I believe in marriage. I believe having the over-the-top big white wedding doesn’t discount the power of someone’s marriage. And I believe two people who gather in secrecy and intimacy and commit themselves to each other for life are equally as extravagant and spectacular as the latter.

I am the product of a divorce, and yet I’ve had amazing relationships. Some of which have lasted two months, others a few months and one for three years.

I met my ex-boyfriend when I was a senior in college. I truly was not looking to date or even do the whole, “Hey, you awake? I’m bored,” text, until someone fell asleep or gave in and lugged themselves across campus. But my ex-boyfriend walked through the front door of my dorm room one night, wearing the ugliest shirt I had ever seen, and he made me laugh.

We began dating a few months later.

When our relationship began, it was good. He was a musician who traveled … a lot, and I was a recent college graduate trying to figure out what the hell I was doing with my life. We were each other’s best friends and I genuinely loved his mom. We had a few small fights, which usually revolved around what we were eating for dinner. I always wanted Thai and he lived off a diet of chicken tenders and fries, so we usually compromised with pizza and beer.

Related: What to Do When Your Ex Gets Back in Touch with You

We learned a lot about each other during our time together. We learned a lot about ourselves. We learned that we both love documentaries, and going to baseball games and $3 movies. We learned that we both hated waking up early, saying goodbyes and cats. But I learned those small things, those things that everyone tells you are the be all, end all of relationships don’t sustain you when your guy chooses playing a gig over coming to your college graduation ceremony. Or when your grandmother dies and all you want to do is call him crying, but you’re worried he’ll be uncomfortable and not know what to say, so instead you just crawl into bed and fall asleep, and tell him the next morning.

Our relationship was good, but it survived three years. I say survived because that’s what it felt like at times. Like trying to mend a broken arm with a band-aid and Neosporin, when what you really needed was a professional to step in, take over and let you sit in the waiting room until the pain went away. But when we skip the pain, we skip the lesson. So, I did my best to sit with the pain, but I often found myself looking for him in that hospital room, only to find more pain from his absence. And in his absence, I slowly began to fill his void with lessons, and those lessons became my practice and that practice became my strength, and that strength is what let me leave that hospital room.

But, truth be told, that hospital room saved me. In that room I learned the greatest gift a relationship can ever give us, is the ability to be our worst self with someone. We’re allowed as women and men to not be shiny. We’re allowed to be real and ugly. We’re allowed to call our partner when our grandmother dies and cry. We’re allowed to scream and laugh and tell them how amazing she was and how you wish you could have said goodbye in person, and cooked dinner with her one more time.

I learned that a healthy relationship can dissolve shame. I learned that shame is worse than pain. Shame is the sugar-coated topping we place on top of our pain to remind us every day of why we should be hurting, and a healthy relationship gives us the strength to break off that coating. I learned that I was allowed to show up to our relationship with my shame and not a sugar-coated excuse for why I had it.

On my last day in that hospital room, I reminded myself that my boyfriend of three years was an extraordinary person. He was kind, genuine, authentic and someone who deserves to be loved fiercely. But, I learned that relationships are hard and they require work, and I learned by showing up to that hospital room every single day, I was working harder. So, when I felt strong enough to leave that hospital room, I did.

Our three-year relationship ended with one of the longest conversations the two of us had ever had. We acknowledged the good and the bad. We acknowledged that we worked well together, but that we work well with everyone, so maybe that is why we held on for so long.  We also acknowledged that we loved each other the way we came, and in that love we received the joy of watching each other transform into our best possible selves, and there is no failure in that, only a raging success. Even if our success stories paint a different picture.

I entered my three-year relationship as the product of a divorce, but I left it realizing that I am also the product of a 20-year long marriage that my parents shared. I learned that sometimes it’s healthier to break something than expend all your resources mending what can’t be put back together. I learned that I can put up with a lot and not complain, but I also learned I’m allowed to complain. I’m allowed to speak up when I’m not happy. We’re all allowed to speak up when we’re not happy. I learned that eye contact is the sexiest thing a man can give. I learned that I need someone who values their health on the same level as I do. I learned I feel everything deeply. I learned that I need someone who is cool with that. I learned that being a strong woman isn’t defined by the load I carry, but by the way I carry my load.

My three-year relationship that ended, re-introduced me to myself and you better believe I’m going to take care of her.

'Grey's Anatomy': Arizona Robbins (Resident Badass) Destroyed a Corrupt Doctor & I'm Going To Miss Her So Much

There are so many things about this week’s Grey's Anatomy episode, "Hold Back the River," that deserve a proper discussion: Webber’s sobriety was put at risk when he discovered his sponsor was dying, internet rumors are flying about a possible pregnancy for Amelia, Meredith and Jo discovered another way to create their mini-livers and one-up Dr. Serrone, and April made amends to everyone affected by her breakdown period. But after a few weeks worth of Arizona-less episodes of Grey's Anatomy, where all I could focus on was April, it's definitely Arizona's time to shine.

One of Arizona's patients and her family were brought into the ER after a car accident. Peggy, her patient, swerved into a tree when her wife, Dana, threw up—an unfortunate after-effect of chemo. During the exam, Dana bragged about her oncologist, Dr. Hanson, and his amazing success rate, including curing her friend's cancer without surgery. While waiting on Dr. Hanson's office to send over Dana's records, they took her up for a CT, finding no indications of breast cancer while evaluating her for potential injuries. Suddenly, Hanson's downed computer system seemed a lot more suspicious. Owen immediately knew that something wasn't right, but Arizona was hesitant to immediately place blame. After all, even good doctors can misdiagnose. But when Owen uncovered the fact that Hanson was not a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Arizona hatched a badass plan.

She made an appointment with Hanson's office, arriving with "husband" Owen in tow. Owen steadily and suspiciously ignored Arizona as Hanson performed her exam. He told them that her right breast was perfectly healthy, adding that more often than not, inconclusive mammograms turn out to be nothing. “Better to be safe than sorry,” he trailed off, looking concerned by something on the screen before revealing a solid lesion in her left breast, but the two nodded to each other behind Hanson's back—nailed him!

Most unfortunately for me, I missed the first half of the episode the first time around and just happened to tune in as Owen took a closer look, sadly noting what was on the screen, and Arizona, very convincingly, began to tear up. I felt Shonda herself punching me in the chest and knocking my heart into my stomach as I thought that that was how we were going to lose Arizona.

But the two quite literally swept back into their own ER, coat tails billowing dramatically as the automatic doors slid around them, and headed to an exam room to have April confirm that Arizona was clean. The ultrasounds were faked—Dr. Hanson was poisoning healthy women so he could charge them for chemo, and Arizona was ready to destroy him.

While Arizona revealed Dana’s clean scans to her and her wife, Owen went to pay Dr. Hanson a visit. For a hot second, I really thought Owen was going to kill him. He roughed Hanson up, shoving him around and demanding Dr. Hanson walk him through his chemo process, pulling out a pouch and hooking it up to an IV and looking like he was going to inject it, but he had called the police and was only using scare tactics as a distraction.

Thank God that that exit shocker existed only in my mind for five minutes max, but we're still just as in the dark as we were weeks ago about Arizona's leaving. Part of me wants the torture of not knowing to end, but when we do find out we'll just be that much closer to never seeing her again, and in the famous words of Leslie Knope, I sad.

How ‘Legally Blonde’ Saved This One Fan’s Life

Legally Blonde is a classic: It’s hilarious, contains a message of female empowerment, has some iconic one-liners, and has inspired millions of people to channel their inner Elle Woods. But, beneath that entertaining facade, the film contained a message that saved one fan’s life

Karen McCullah, one of the co-writers of the film, told Entertainment Weekly that she heard from a man who used a line from the film to work through his depression.

“I got an email from a guy who said that he was really depressed and was about to hurt himself when a friend called and asked him to go dancing,” McCullah shared with Entertainment Weekly. “He said no, he didn’t want to go out. And then after he hung up the phone, he remembered the line, ‘Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy.’ So, he called the friend back, went dancing, had a great time, decided not to kill himself, and wrote me a letter saying, ‘That line saved my life.’”

Films, no matter if they are comedies, actions, or dramas, can impact our lives in profound ways, and McCullah was able to experience that firsthand. “What an offhand line to end up being so meaningful to someone,” she said. “That blew my mind.”

The Trump Administration Will Announce Their Response To Syrian Chemical Attacks Soon

During a cabinet meeting on Monday, April, 9, President Trump denounced a chemical weapons attack on Syria that occurred over the weekend. President Trump expects to make a decision within the next two days about a military response, the New York Times reports.

The president called the attack “atrocious” and looked towards Russia when pointing fingers.  “We’re talking about humanity and it can’t be allowed to happen,” Trump said.

The chemical attack Trump denounced killed 49 people, according to the New York Times. As Russia and Syria deny Trump’s allegations, independent investigators are forbidden to inspect the site – and Trump is impatient.

So far, only France and Britain have officially denounced the attack, as other European countries keep quiet while tensions rise between Russia and the United States. To make matters worse, a second attack occurred early Monday morning in the Middle East, further provoking tensions.

The second attack was on a Syrian air base, allegedly conducted by Israel with “Iranian-backed militias.” While Israel has yet to comment on the attack, 14 people are confirmed dead.

And while officials discuss next steps, the Trump Administration is still in transition mode with new national security advisor John R. Bolton starting his job this week. Bolton has yet to comment on any decisions.

Tammy Duckworth Welcomes Her Second Daughter, Making Her The First Ever US Senator To Give Birth While In Office

On Monday, Senator Tammy Duckworth made history as the first US Senator to give birth while in office. Duckworth, age 50, retired from the Army in 2014 as a lieutenant colonel. In 2004, she lost both of her legs and partial use of her right arm while serving in Iraq.

It may be hard to believe that it’s 2018 and we’re only just now seeing the first US Senator to give birth while in office, but motherhood is still highly stigmatized in the workplace. Duckworth is a strong advocate on behalf of working families.

“Parenthood isn’t just a women’s issue, it’s an economic issue and one that affects all parents — men and women alike,” she said in a statement. “As tough as juggling the demands of motherhood and being a Senator can be, I’m hardly alone or unique as a working parent, and my children only make me more committed to doing my job and standing up for hardworking families everywhere.”

On February 5th, two weeks after Duckworth announced that she was pregnant, she published an op-ed for CNN entitled, “2018 is past time to get real on paid leave.”

In it, she stated, “When my new daughter is born, I'll be able to take paid time to care for her, but most people aren't so fortunate; they have to rush right back to work. A 2015 report from In These Times found that one in four employed moms returned to work within two weeks of childbirth.”

Duckworth’s new daughter, Maile Pearl Bowlsbey, is her second daughter.

A Student Nailed His 'Reply All' To One Of Those Campus-Wide Emails

You know that one kid in your class who always has the funniest comments, but you’re also cringing because, like, dude, now’s not the time.

Well, apparently every school has one of those kids. And at South Oregon University, the kid didn’t even restrain himself from sending out his comment to EVERY KID AT THE SCHOOL via email.

Last week, the VP for Finance and Administration at SOU sent out an email reminding the students, faculty, and staff, that there are cougars in the area. No, like the animal. You know, panther, puma, mountain lion. Cougar. Whatever you wanna call it. The email was to remind students to be safe because cougars (again, the ANIMAL) can be dangerous.

Well, when “that one kid” got the email, he couldn’t help himself. He replied to the entire school and said, “That’s just my mom.”

We can’t stop laughing at this reply-all win, but we hope for his sake that his mom can take a joke too, otherwise his next visit home will not be too fun.
