The Off-Broadway Play About Hufflepuffs is Coming to Movie Theaters & You Should Find Your Way To A Screening

Someone in the universe has decided that the Harry Potter universe should live on forever, and I for one am here for that. Arguably the most underrated characters in the Harry Potter are the Hufflepuffs, including everyone's favorite heartthrob Cedric Diggory. Cedric deserved better —and the off-Broadway hit Puffs thinks so too.

In case you don't know, Puffs is an off-Broadway play that has established a cult following over the past few years, and now it is coming to movie theaters so Hufflepuff fans around the US can enjoy! Puffs: Filmed Live Off Broadway will be screening all over country at over 600 theaters, but there's a catch: It's only showing twice. Starting April 6th you can buy tickets to catch the show on May 9th at 7pm or May 12th at 12:55pm.

According to Time Out New York, Puffs takes a look at "what was happening behind the scenes at the school of witchcraft while Potter ran the show? This play tells you which was going on with the loyal and patient students, including the greatest Puff of all, Cedric Diggory." Glad we're on the same page about who "the greatest Puff of all" is.

Screening the show in movie theaters is a great opportunity for Harry Potter fans outside of the New York City area to show their love for the Puffs. Hufflepuffs are known to value patience, fairness, hard work, and just being an overall kind person, something we all need a little more of these days.

No word yet if Robert Pattinson, who played Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter films, is aware of the Puffs film debut, but I'm sure he'll love it as much as we will. Be sure to catch Puffs at a local theater near you!

Singer Rozzi Talks Her Upcoming Album & Experience Working With Adam Levine (Exclusive Q&A)

Without a doubt, 2018 is going to be the year for Rozzi Crane. Having already released two incredible songs this year, the pop singer will be releasing her first full-length album in the coming months. And she’s no newcomer to the entertainment industry. Since her discovery by Adam Levine in 2009, Crane has worked as background singer, toured with bands including Gavin DeGraw and Owl City and had multiple songs featured in films.

Her Campus spoke with Crane about her musical influences, her work with Adam Levine and her experience studying music in college.

Her Campus: Within the first two months of 2018, you released two beautiful singles, “Uphill Battle” and “Never Over You.” How do these songs compare to the album you’ll be releasing the rest of the year? Is there an overarching message or style you’re trying to weave throughout all of your music?

Rozzi Crane: They definitely represent the vibe of the rest of the music. There are different shades of emotion throughout the album. For example, you haven't heard any of the breakup songs yet, and those get even more personal and more emotional. I would say that the general overarching theme—maybe the surface level theme—is that most of the songs are about falling in love and then having my heart broken. It's pretty much a relationship-focused album, but that's not how I quite would describe it.

To me, the songs really represent me kind of growing up and figuring out who I am it. It feels more like a coming-of-age album to me because so much of my experience in the past couple of years is about getting in touch with who I am and my point-of-view and what I want to say and how I want to say. Yes, a lot of these songs were immediately inspired by heartbreak, but growing up there were of female empowerment songs that were about not needing a man. I feel like these days we don't need that as much. What I need to hear now is "Of course, I don't need a man. That's obvious. But maybe I still want one." It's about me figuring that out and understanding that maybe that's okay—to want a relationship without needing one.

HC: You’ve worked extensively with Adam Levine in the past. Can you tell us about the first time you met him?

RC: The first time he actually had emailed me. I received his email when I was at a college party. He wrote, "I don't have a label, but I'll start one if you'll be the first artist." Then, we spoke on the phone the next day and caught up a little bit. The first time I met him in person was on set at the first season of "The Voice." I was just crazy nervous with my friends from USC. We were just in the trailer. But most of our relationship before that was just texting.

HC: What’s the best piece of advice he ever gave you?

RC: There's a lot of specific performance or songwriting things. I remember with a song called "Half a Man," and I was doing rewrites on it. He was the one who said, "You want your chorus to lift" and gave a melodic idea that led to the chorus being what it is. He also watched me perform as a guest artist on "The Voice." Obviously, I was never a contestant, but I remember him saying to me, "It's great to have plan and moves on stage, but you want it to go naturally. You don't have to do the exact same thing every time. You can be more free." I remember little things like that.

The biggest lessons I took away from it were more from just watching him. He is just a fiery performer, and I learned a lot just from watching him every single night on tour and literally having to keep up with him on stage when I would sing duets with him. I learned how to be energetic, how to be entertaining and how to keep an audience's attention.

HC: Who would you like to collaborate with in the future? Why?

RC: I would love to collaborate with Justin Vernon and Chris Stapleton. They're just two of my favorite songwriters and favorite voices. They're very different from me, and all of us are in different genres, but they're so soulful. I feel like this is probably a crazy thing to say because they're famous Grammy-winning artists, but I feel like we'd click.

HC: What type of music did you grow up listening to? Has it influenced your current style?

RC: I grew up listening to an eclectic mix of music, which is kind of the same as now. I do think all of it has influenced my current sound. I always loved beautiful voices. My mom listened to Eva Cassidy, who I think has seeped into my skin from a young age. She just has a way of singing that's so beautiful. I also always loved country music from a young age. I lost my love of country and now I'm back in love with country. I was obsessed with the Dixie Chicks, and Shania Twain. I also loved The Supremes and Fleetwood Mac, and with my dad I listened to classic rock, like The Beatles and Neil Young. The truth is when I look back at it, they're all really great songwriters and really great lyricists, which would make sense because I love lyrics. It's my favorite part of songwriting.

We played "Never Over You" live in Capitol Studios. Link in my bio!

A post shared by Rozzi (@thisisrozzi) on

HC: You attended the Thornton School of Music at University of Southern California. What’s the most valuable lesson you took away from it?

RC: I was in this music program at USC, and I remember this performance class that we all took. Basically, we were put into bands and learned cover songs. I remember the teachers would always talk to the instrumentalists and tell them to play the record exactly the same. If the guitar player was learning a Heart song, they'd have to play the guitar part exactly like the record, but they would never say that to the singers. With the singers for some reason, it's more like "Do you! What's your style? Express yourself."

It's great to have your own sound and your own style, but I remember having a little bit of an a-ha moment when I was 18 or 19: I was like, "Oh! If I learn all the vocals on this record to the degree the guitar players learn the guitar part or the drummers learn the drum parts, then I'll be able to sing whatever I want. If I can sing anything Heart can sing or Jill Scott can sing or Beyonce or Aretha Franklin or whomever, if I can learn their albums —I used to learn live albums note for note to do it exactly like them, so when I was singing my songs, I could have a bunch of options. I guess my biggest lesson is learning how to sing like an instrumentalist learns how to play their instrument.

HC: What advice would you give a young woman who isn’t sure whether studying music in college is the right decision for her?

RC: Well if they're not sure, here's the thing I tell people. If you want to be an artist, you have to really really know in your gut that there's nothing else in your gut that you could be happy doing. It's really hard. It's painful because you're so emotionally connected to your career, and it's such a challenging career. If you could see yourself doing something else and be happy, I would say do something else. If you can be happy doing something else with a more traditional path, go be happy. Being an artist breaks your heart all the time.

For me, there's nothing else I could do. It's just my calling. It's what I was born to do, and I love it too much. All of the hardship is just worth it for me, so I guess I don't know if that's a downer, but I'll say this. If you know that this is what you were born to do and in your gut you it's what's going to make you happiest, then by all means. It is my life and my purpose, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. If you have that feeling—yes—study it!

Faux Freckles Are Having a Moment, & Here's How to Create Them with Makeup

0
0

In 2018, we’re all about embracing uniqueness and standing out. Some of us who have freckles have most likely struggled with how to hide them in the past. Well, now we're laughing, as everyone else is adding fake freckles to their makeup routines!

No matter how you feel about these adorable little spots, freckles are a great way to add a youthful twist to your look. Faux freckles are, however, tricky to create while keeping them realistic looking. Below we’ve highlighted some of our favorite tutorials to help you get the perfect freckled look the first time around.

1. The Basic Faux Freckle

Here, Nyane Lebajoa uses the color 1987 from the UD x Gwen Stefanie Pallette to dot on freckles with a thin brush. She adds the freckles on top of a full face and works from the bridge of her nose toward her cheekbones, adding a few specks near her brows as well.

2. Galaxy Freckles

Maybe you’re looking for a fun freckled look for a costume, or you just want to show off your love of space. Either way, these freckles add pop to any look (and can be hacked to completion with less intensity than what occurs in the video, because lazy girls – we see you).

Here, Miranda Hedman starts by dusting a base of pink eyeshadow across her cheekbones and on the tip of her nose. She then layers on light blue eyeshadow, this time adding more to the bridge of her nose. She finishes by using white and silver liquid eyeliners to dot freckles across her nose and cheeks, adding larger star-like freckles in white.

3. Super Natural Freckles

To make sure you’re giving off the illusion of real freckles, Chloe Morello uses two different brow gels, one lighter and one darker, to add dimension to her faux freckles. She pats over the dotted-on freckles with her finger to make sure the freckles are blended with her skin and don’t look too drawn on.

4. Glitter Freckles

Glitter freckles are definitely a way to stand out at a party, festival or concert, and will add insane sparkle to your everyday outfits. Here, Ali Wirth uses fine glitter she bought from a department store and lash glue to stick the glitter onto her face. She uses a q-tip so that she can apply the glitter individually and enhances it all by adding a couple of natural-looking freckles with a brown liquid eyeliner.

5. Enhancing Natural Freckles

If you’re lucky enough to have natural freckles, it’s time to embrace them! Summer Kellsey uses a sheer mineral foundation to show off her freckles while also covering acne and red spots. She adds a translucent powder on top to set the foundation and adds concealer after the setting powder (only where she needs it). To combat dark circles without covering her freckles, she only adds concealer to the shadow of the under eye bags. She ends by adding a peach colored blush to her cheeks.

Are you ready for this fresh freckled twist to your everyday look?

Ryan Reynolds Is Raffling Off A Pink Deadpool Suit to Fight Cancer & It's Heroic AF

Actor and screenwriter, Ryan Reynolds, showed off a new, bubblegum pink version of his Deadpool costume on Twitter, auctioning off the iconic costume to raise money in the fight against cancer for the nonprofit "Fuck Cancer" through an Omaze campaign.

In a "Special Message from Deadpool," Reynolds explained the pink suit was for the "world to see that I have a big old heart-on. That's heart with a 't' for my new obsession, pink — the color, not the pop singer. Personally I'm more of a Celine kind of guy."

Participants can donate anywhere from $10 to $5,000 to the cause for a chance to win the pink Deadpool suit. Donations of over $1,000 or more include other gifts, such as a signed movie poster, a signed DVD, or even personalized voicemail message recorded by Reynolds in his Deadpool character. (There's nothing to lose by donating!)

Reynolds even offered a number of options as to what the winner can do with the suit should he or she be selected, including adding it to your "S&M dungeon" or "nailing it to a post in order to scare off birds, children and the elderly."

The actor ends the video saying, "this is one fight where everyone can be a hero, no superpowers, capes or lame CG costumes needed — just your money," said Reynolds. "Seriously, we need that — these suits aren't cheap."

The deadline to enter the Deadpool suit drawing is May 21, 2018 at 11:59pm PST.

Can We Just Talk About Some of the Insanely Cool Outfits Dua Lipa Has Worn on Her Tour?

Dua Lipa, of “IDGAF” fame, is currently on tour with Bruno Mars and rocking everyone’s world with outfit after outfit of perfection. Recently, her thigh-high Barbie pink boots got lots of attention in Paris.

She has quickly become a fashion icon and seems to be channeling her inner Lady Gaga—evidence can be found on her Instagram photos from throughout her Self-Titled Tour, as well as her current performances supporting Bruno Mars. Dua Lipa was gorgeous to begin with, and she makes fashion choices that others might shy away from because they’re unconventional or "too risky." But in the case of this singer, she’s almost becoming an embodiment of the “It’s ugly until Rihanna decides it’s not” meme.

For example, this yellow plaid two piece jumpsuit? Only she can make it work.

It's a little unfair that this looks so fine on her. And when she wears more established styles, no one can argue that she doesn't look incredible. For example, she made us remember why we loved the early 2000s at the Hollywood Palladium.

In Perth, she went for hot-and-cold look of sheer, sparkling pants and a denim jacket.

Off-stage in Perth, she was rocking another sheer piece while taking the town.

And she gave some Madonna-pajama realness in a cone bra in Melbourne.

And speaking of pajamas, here's an outfit she posted off-stage, which she captioned, "I yelled sleepover like I would’ve yelled worldstar."

The take-away from all of this is that even when she's going to sleep, Dua Lipa is dressed like the thing of dreams.

I'll Tell You What I Want, What I Really Really Want & It's to Go to The Spice Girls Exhibition in London

Fans of the iconic female pop group now have something to look forward to later this summer: The Spice Girls exhibition is headed to London where fans can generally indulge in all things Spice Girls related. The exhibition even holds its own personal hashtag: #SpiceUpLondon.

The exhibition, which will take place at London's Business Design Centre from July 28 through August 20, promises to showcase a wide array of Spice-themed merch from various collections across the globe in addition to capturing the fun, free spirit of the girl group that took over the '90s.

Spice Up London is also slated to display multitudes of items and even rare Spice-themed memorabilia. Accompanying the memorabilia will be hundreds of costumes belonging to the "Fab Five." The exhibition will essentially serve as the center of a whole list of Spice Girls-themed events, which are scheduled to pop up across London throughout the exhibition's three-week run. The activity lineup boasts a medley of events, ranging from dance classes from the Spice Girls music videos to even classy bus tours.

According to Bustle, the iconic Spice Bus will be making "an extra special appearance" outside the #SpiceUpLondon exhibition. Ahead of its big revamp debut, the bus' current owners are asking any fans who would like to contribute to its restoration efforts to do so on Crowdfunder. There's even a Spice-y hashtag for that, too: #RefurbTheBus.

This exhibition is definitely a must-go place for any fan of the iconic group!

All of Beyoncé's Tour Merch Has Selfies of Her Dressed as a Literal Queen

In preparation for the On the Run Tour II, Beyoncé recently dropped a new line of merchandise. In the past, the power couple has designed some pretty iconic tour getups, and this one certainly makes the cut. The design features the singer dressed as Queen Nefertiti, an Egyptian who ruled alongside her husband, Pharaoh Akhenaten. This choice of costume for Beyoncé isn’t entirely surprising — those paying attention to her fashion choices as of late, might have noticed a theme.

According to W Magazine, Bey has been obsessed with the gold color palate since her pregnancy announcement in 2017. Posing next to a statue of an Egyptian queen, she looked like one herself. The dress she wore for her Grammys performance also had Egyptian elements.

After being referred to as “Queen Bey” for years, this direction isn’t a shocker. But while the Beyhive seems enthralled by Beyoncé looking like the queen she is, others felt the merch was appropriative of Egyptian culture. Egyptian artist Maie Ayied was among the Twitter storm of those outraged by the use of Nefertiti's image as a direct model for Beyoncé's photos.

"I’m all kinds of mad about Beyonce literally selling herself as Nefertiti. My country’s history and culture has been so brutally commoditized and commercialized and exported to everyone’s satisfaction and convenience for GENERATIONS. I’m not spending a dime on her," Ayied tweeted. "Like, I GET the appeal — I get it: ancient egyptian 'stuff' is pretty and cool and neat and 'AESTHETIC', but it has meaning. so maybe someone should tell her she’s perpetuating a cycle of theft from a people already so used to being robbed of their own history. My people and their lives are not your aesthetic. End of story."

Beyoncé has not released any statement about the controversy.

Someone Made An Incredible Walmart Yodeling Boy Remix & Your Pre-Game Playlist Will Never Be The Same

The internet can be bleak sometimes, with the hateful Twitter bots, ever-raging YouTube comment battles, and your great-aunt sharing some Facebook article that claims Obama is a lizard person.

Luckily, sometimes we have a shining light in the darkness. This week, that shining light has been 11-year-old Mason Ramsey yodeling his little heart out in the aisles of a Peducah, Kentucky Wal-Mart. If you haven’t seen it yet, I will warn you that it is TOO GOOD and TOO PURE.

Look at his boots. LOOK AT HIS BIG OL’ BOOTS.

For the past week, the collective internet has been falling in love with Ramsey’s rendition of Hank Williams’ “Lovesick Blues.” According to Taste of Country, Ramsey was the 2016 winner of the Kentucky Opry Talent Search, Beginner Division. He’s been singing covers of songs by Hank Williams and other older country artists for years, so much so that they call him “Little Hank” in his hometown.

We saw Mason’s talent and we wanted more. So Twitter user @ItsKingTrillaX gave us more. Not because we deserved it, but because we needed it.

Now my heart can be filled with warmth and love as I get crunk! How perfect!

The remix was originally made by YouTuber Dj Suede, but aspiring actor and former dancer Juwan showed us how exactly we could get lit to our favorite little yodeler.

For high schoolers, prom season is coming up. For collegiates, formal season. Even spring weddings. I expect to hear this on every single dance floor in the near future.

Apparently There's A 21 & Over Rating On 'Love, Simon' In Singapore Because Of Its LGBT Themes

0
0

After being in the top five at the box office and even having rumors of a sequel, the film Love, Simon has captured many hearts since its March 16 release. The drama centers around a gay teen, finding acceptance surrounding his sexuality, making it the first of its kind.

"Love, Simon was, in many ways, a calculated risk for its studio, 20th Century Fox," according to The Atlantic."There had never been a wide, major-studio release of a film centered on a gay teenager." It's safe to say Love, Simon was worth the risk, but it's not open to just any age group in other countries. In fact, Singapore rated the film "R21," so you must be at least 21-years old to see it in theaters because of the LGBT themes.

"The theme of homosexuality, therefore, forms the main narrative of the film as the protagonist is portrayed to overcome his fear of being rejected as a gay male; and coupled with the support of his friends, gradually gains confidence to seek out the real identity of his love interest," the IMDA (Singapore’s Info-communications Media Development Authority), the organization who rates the films, said in a statement about the choice for an R21 rating. Basically, the entire plot is the reason it's 21 and over, which sucks.

Then again, it isn't terribly surprising because it's still illegal to be a homosexual male in Singapore and LGBT rights are lacking there entirely. The whole situation is just unfortunate,TBH.

The decision isn't going unnoticed, as a fan of the film started a petition on change.org to make the film N16, or 16 and over.

"By making Love, Simon NC16, I am positive that it will have a huge impact on young teenagers struggling to find acceptance from family and friends," the fan, Thasha Monique Dharmendra wrote in the description for the petition. "It will also educate people that being free and accepted is just what everyone in this extensive community wants. Hopefully, it will also change people’s negative perception of the LGBTQ+ community."

The petition needs 15,000 signatures and it's almost there, with just a few hundred left to go. It's nice to see fans making an effort to stand up for change with the things they believe in.

It's a shame the film has the age limit. Hopefully the word will spread about the impact of the film to draw more attention to its message, whether or not Singapore changes the rating.

5 Signs You Need a Social Media Detox

0
0

Older generations like to criticize young people’s social media use, and many of us like to defend it because social media connects people in a way that’s never been more efficient and creative. However, our incessant need to look carefree, successful, and happy has led Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to become a curated highlight reel in which your “likes” are highly impactful to your self-esteem.

You may be thinking this does not apply to you, or that it is silly to think “likes” are any measure of self-worth. If you’re one of these people, I applaud you and your ability to disregard the constant pressure to appear a certain way online. But for many people, it is difficult to ignore all the notifications on our phones that are always in our pockets. You may even feel like your life would be better off if you could take a break from social media altogether. Here are some signs that you should go on a social media detox.

1. You obsess over your Instagram numbers

Whether it’s your following to follower ratio or the amount of “likes” you’re getting, you’re overthinking it, and it may not be healthy. You may think getting a certain amount of likes on Instagram is indicative of your social status, but it does not indicate the authenticity of your friendships. Let’s be real—the average person does not have over 300 close friends.

Studies have shown that Americans, on average, only have five close relationships, and can only maintain about 150 relationships at any given time. Knowing this, doesn't this make you think differently about that 800-person following on Instagram? Popularity on Instagram may correlate with creativity, talent and beauty but there are other measures of this outside of the digital world that people should also value highly.

Maggie*, a sophomore from Lehigh University has dealt with this issue before. "I'm not gonna lie, I've once felt ashamed because my follower to following ratio wasn't as good as my peers. For some reason, I felt this pressure that more people should like me than I like them. It's a weird culture thing that no one talks about but everyone feels. The pressure feels like 'I should be cool enough for other people to want to follow me.' But I am cool. I don't need followers to prove that to me or anyone else."

Because of the unhealthy idea that your social prominence in this world is based on your social media numbers, people have started to purchase followers, friends, and likes to keep up with their peers. While you have a right to how you spend your money, you should think about these decisions and the implications of spending money on social media.

Instead of purchasing likes, you could help further your education, enhance your wardrobe, or even go on a vacation. The rewards of those things may be long-term and help you feel more fulfilled than the short-term effects of seeming popular online. Besides, who are you proving your popularity to? Is it to yourself or your friends? Do they really care about how many followers you have? Should you?

2. You only share things you are sure will get likes

By the nature of social media, we want to receive positive reinforcement for the things we enjoy. However, we shouldn’t change the way we present ourselves solely because of how many likes we get. Social media is supposed to be a fun way to share ideas, photos, and memories online. When you lose sight of that because you’re focused on the popularity of your posts, it becomes more like a competition than a fun way to connect.

Whether it’s a grainy picture of your pet or a quote that resonated with you, people seem to judge posts that are “uncool” so quickly. Remind yourself that your online presence is entirely unique, and you can use your social media in whatever way that aligns with your identity. Not everyone has to post Fuji, Polaroid or portrait shots at the beach. Sometimes, it’s nice to share something just because you, and only you, like it.

Nancy, a junior from TCNJ, says, "I once posted this picture with my mom and it wasn't the most aesthetic nor were we on some exotic vacation. We were just in my house and I wanted to share that moment. Someone told me it wasn't 'Instagram worthy,' and I was taken back. When have we become a culture so consumed by what's appropriate just for Instagram?"

3. You've lost touch with what you like

You do it for the ‘gram. Examples include going specifically to aesthetically pleasing restaurants and wearing trendy outfits that will be sure to catch everyone’s attention. There’s nothing inherently wrong with liking pretty aesthetics or wearing trendy clothes, but there’s something disturbing about feeling pressured to eat certain things and dress a certain way based on a supposed reaction online. If you plan your daily activities based on how well it will look in photos, or purchase things online because celebrities endorse them, you may need to take a social media detox.

Before posting something online, consider what you like about the photo or status. Remember that nothing can ever really be deleted online and that what you post is a reflection of yourself. The more you post things that you actually identify with, the more your accounts will feel like a scrapbook to look back on instead of an imitation of a celebrity.

4. You feel less confident after spending time on social media

Everyone on Instagram seems to be a body-builder, under a strict dietary regimen, and newly-engaged. Seemingly, they're having the time of their life. They’re attractive, happy, and successful. In reality, people want to create an image that is inviting and gathers the most likes. People lose sight of the fact that social media is a curated highlight reel and start to unhealthily compare themselves to others. They see pictures of people their age getting promotions, starting families, and having fun and forget that, with those success stories, there is a lot of struggle and unpleasant parts of life that society does not typically endorse online.

Kelly*, a freshman from Rowan University, says "I used to spend hours on YouTube watching these model 'what I eat in a day' videos to the point where I'd follow everything they did. It's weird looking back on that now, but I fully believed to be beautiful I needed to eat like them in order to be thin, which was beautiful. I know people use those videos for inspiration but it turned into low confidence for me."

Finding yourself suddenly inspired to work out after seeing a fitness blogger’s workout is different than obsessively comparing your fitness progress to those you follow online. If you feel like the time you spend on social media is having a negative effect on your self-esteem it may be time to take a break.

5. You can't go more than ten minutes without checking your phone

You ignore your friends and family in person because you’re too entranced with what’s happening in the digital world. Your parents may have even enforced a rule prohibiting cell phone use during dinner. If you use your phone as a crutch to avoid talking to people and exclusively communicate via social media, it may be time to take a break. While jokes about being addicted to social media may be lighthearted, no one should actually feel like their life is so consumed by the Internet.

Every young adult has probably behaved in some capacity to the examples above. It doesn’t mean you’re a bad person, but it may mean you’re too invested in your online life that you’re neglecting parts of your actual life. To detox, you don’t have to delete all your accounts in one day. It may be beneficial to start the detox by just deleting an app or two off your phone. Every time you have a tendency to check your socials, you’ll be reminded that you can spend your time doing something else instead. By the end, you’ll realize there is more to life than social media and you'll be thankful for it.

Toni Morrison, a Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, once said, “At some point in life the world’s beauty becomes enough, you don’t need to photograph, paint, or even remember it. It is enough.”

The mindset of our generation seems to be that if we do not capture our greatest moments and share them, then they simply did not happen. Captured and shared or not, we are living our lives, and how many people have digitally liked it should not diminish the value of our experiences. As always, good luck!

Jay-Z Shared the Most Adorable Story About Blue Ivy & It Will Absolutely Melt Your Heart

Blue Ivy Carter already has a reputation for being a total master of sass (all you need to do is watch that infamous footage of her at the Grammys to know what we're talking about), but according to her father, she recently upped the ante in the best way possible.

In his recent appearance on David Letterman's Netflix show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, which premieres in full on April 6, the rapper opened up about whether it bothers him that his children's upbringings will be so different from his own. (Spoiler: It doesn't.)

"I feel grateful every day. I wake up, I look around, look at my kids, they’re healthy," he answered.

He then proceeded to provide us all with the most adorable anecdote that shows Blue Ivy is truly growing up to hold her own.

"Me and my daughter talk. I told her to get in the car the other day cause she was asking a thousand questions and we had to leave for school," he said. "And I got in the car and I’m faced this way — I’m just painting the picture of how healthy my children are at this present time — so we’re driving and I just hear a little voice. ‘Dad.’ I turn around and she said, 'I didn't like when you told me to get in the car the way you told me.' She’s 6! 'It hurt my feelings.'"

Clearly, Jay-Z and Bey are raising their daughter to stand up for herself in a healthy, mature way — so of course, Jay-Z had the best response when Blue Ivy raised her concerns.

"I was like, 'That’s the most beautiful thing you’ve ever said to me,'" the rapper told Letterman.

MY HEART! I'll just be over here channeling my inner Blue Ivy in preparation for the next time I need to speak up for myself.

Dunkin' Donuts Just Introduced a New Menu Item That Combines Two of Your Favorite Foods

Dear Dunkin Donuts: please don't ever change. Please keep giving us food and drinks we never knew we needed such as Girl Scout Cookie coffee and coffee-flavored beer — we truly appreciate all you do to keep us happy and caffeinated.

Dunkin's latest incredible invention? Donut fries. Yes, the coffee and donut giant has taken two of our favorite all-time foods and combined them into one delicious treat. They're exactly as amazing as they sound: cinnamon sugar-covered donuts, shaped into French fry form for easy snacking.

As Delish reports, the new donut fries are part of a new $2 snacking menu the chain is testing — so the unfortunate catch is that if you want to get your hands on them, you'll need to visit one of the "small number of its restaurants in the Boston market," to try them. If you're lucky enough to live in the area, however, you'll be able to order a package of five for only $1.99, proving dreams really do come true.

According to social media reactions, everyone is (naturally) already obsessed. For the sake of those of us who don't live in the Boston area, please keep the positive donut fries feedback coming Dunkin's way — because if they're successful in test stores, Dunkin' Donuts will likely roll them out across the country. And don't we all deserve to have donut fries in our lives?

A Bunch of Your Childhood Disney Channel Faves Reunited & There's Photo Evidence

Welp, my childhood has officially come full circle. In case you needed a reason to get super nostalgic, a bunch of celebs who probably starred in your favorite Disney Channel shows as a kid just reunited as grown-up adults — and the best part? There's photo evidence of it all.

It's easy to forget that, before she was killing it in music, Hayley Kiyoko starred in Disney Channel shows and movies like Wizards of Waverly Place and Lemonade Mouth — so of course, when she hosted a party last night for the release of her new album Expectations, her former Disney Channel co-stars came out in droves to support her. Aww.

The reunion included Cole Sprouse of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody (but did we even need to remind you?) Demi Lovato, who was in Camp Rock and Sonny With a Chance, Matthew Scott Montgomery from Shake It Up, Alyson Stoner of Camp Rock and Debby Ryan, who rose to fame on Jessie

While almost every celeb that was part of this Disney reunion of the century shared the photo, props to Matthew Scott Montgomery for his epic caption, "season finale of my life aka disney high reunion celebrating @hayleykiyoko." Accurate.

Truly, is there anything better than knowing your childhood is alive and well and that your favorite Disney Channel stars are still majorly feeling the love? I don't think there is.

What to Do With Your Friends When They Visit Your College

Making new friends at school is great, but keeping in touch with those friends from home can be even better. Inviting them to visit you at your college is a great way to catch up, spend some time together and have fun. Whether your school is 20 minutes from home or three hours away, here are ten things to do with your friends when they come visit your college.

1. Take a walking tour of campus

When your friend first arrives on campus, giving him or her a walking tour is a great idea. It gives you a chance to show off your school, spend some quality time together and, depending on the season, spend some time outdoors and away from your dorm room.

“When I had my friend from Ohio come visit me in Orlando, I gave her a tour of my campus so she could get a taste of my life at UCF,” says Megan Scavo, a sophomore at the University of Central Florida.

Not only can you give your friend a taste of your life at university, it’s also a great time to tell all your crazy college stories!

2. Go out to dinner

Is there a local dive everyone in town eats at? A famous pizza place everyone on campus loves? Make sure you take your friend! “My friend really enjoyed eating at all the hotspots my college town has to offer,” Megan says. “We had a blast.”

This will be even better if you go to school in a different part of the country than where you’re from. Forget chain restaurants; take them for a taste of the local cuisine.

3. Have a meal at the (good) dining hall

Eating out is expensive, so make sure you plan at least a couple of meals at your campus’s best dining hall—it’s bound to have at least one. Take advantage of those meal swipes!

4. See the sights

Do you go to school in Florida? Take your friends to the beach nearby (just make sure you tell your friends to bring their suits). New York City? Take a ride to the top of the Empire State Building or visit Times Square. “The first thing I did was take my friend to the beach in Orlando,” says Megan.

Go see that part of town you’ve never been to before. Find a few places on Google Maps that look interesting like a park, a museum or a shopping center and go check it out! Just make sure you stay safe. If you’re a new student or you haven’t been in town for a while, campus police or upperclassmen will probably be able to tell you places to stay away from.

Is it the beginning of the semester? Here are seven fall activities that will get you and your friend off campus!

5. Attend a local sporting event

If it’s football season, taking a friend to a game is one of the best ways to let him or her experience your college’s atmosphere. “When a couple of my friends visited Iowa State, I took them to a football game,” says Chelsea Jackson, a student at the University of Iowa. “We lost terribly, but it was a great time.”

This is a great option if you’re having multiple friends with you, because it’s cheap and keeps you busy for a few hours of the afternoon. Go team!

6. Take advantage of on-campus events

On-campus events are great because they’re close by and usually free. Is there a movie showing going on? A comedian? Hypnotist? Take your friend with you! This can be a really fun way to spend the afternoon or evening without breaking the bank.

7. Go to a party

Are there any frat parties going on when your friend is going to be on campus? Figure out if there’s a theme, pick something cute to wear and have fun! Just watch out for the jungle juice.

8. Plan a night with your college friends

It might feel weird for your two words to collide, but do introduce your friend to the people that you’ve met at school. Who knows, they might hit it off and you’ll have even more fun.

9. Spend the day in

Put on your sweats, get some junk food from the local convenience store and spend the day in. Watch that movie you’ve been wanting to see, have a Netflix marathon, catch up on everything that’s been going on back home. There’s not much that is better than having a lazy day with your BFF.

10. Go on a club crawl

If you’re over 21, this can turn into a bar crawl, too, but make sure you leave your car in the driveway and catch a Lyft or an Uber instead. Take your friend to all the hot spots and have fun! Look at the bar/club schedules, too, and see if there’s live music or a karaoke night for even more fun.

And, of course, the most important thing to do is make sure you plan a weekend that both of you will enjoy. Ask your friend if there’s anything specific she wants to do and let her know what you’re planning. Have fun!

HC Wake-Up Call: Trump Denies Knowledge of Payment to Stormy Daniels, Department of Education Failed to Notify 17 Colleges That Fell Short on Safety & This Woman Found a Lizard in Her Trader Joe's Kale

Good morning Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds—we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

Trump Denies Knowledge of Payment to Stormy Daniels

In his first comment on the matter, President Trump denied any knowledge of a $130,000 payment his lawyer made on his behalf to silence Stormy Daniels, a porn star who claims to have slept with him, the New York Times reports. After denying knowing about the payment, he told reporters aboard Air Force One Thursday evening, "You’ll have to ask Michael Cohen. Michael is my attorney, and you’ll have to ask Michael Cohen."

As the Times notes, Trump's comment could actually weaken his legal battle against Daniels, who is claiming that Trump did not know about the payment to her as part of a nondisclosure agreement, therefore invalidating the agreement and legally allowing her to speak about their alleged sexual encounter.

The Department of Education Failed to Notify 17 Colleges That May Have Breached Campus Safety Laws

According to a new report by BuzzFeed News, the Department of Education may have failed to notify 17 colleges and universities that they were in violation of the Clery Act, a campus safety law that requires schools to track and report crimes on campus, send emergency alerts and provides rights to those reporting sexual assault on campus. Documents obtained by BuzzFeed show that the Department of Education, which is responsible for enforcing the Clery Act, knew schools were unaware that they were in violation of it, yet did nothing to inform them of it.

Victims at schools such as the University of Utah and Old Dominion University are worried that, months after their complaints were filed, nothing has been done to address the issues with the way their schools have handled safety issues on campus.

This Woman Found a Dead Lizard in Her Trader Joe's Kale & EW

A woman in Washington, D.C. was less than thrilled to come home from her Trader Joe's run this week only to find a dead lizard in the bag of kale she'd bought. Ew. We all love Trader Joe's but...even they don't get a free pass on this one. Thankfully, the grocery store is reportedly investigating her claim— which includes some pretty horrifying photo evidence.

10 Coachella Throwback Photos to Inspire Your 2018 Festival Fashion

0

Coachella is a festival that sometimes seems like it's more about the fashion than the actual music itself. Sure, I might not know the entire lineup from last year, but you bet I know what every Kardashian, Jenner and all the stars of Riverdale wore. It's a magical time of year where seriously anything goes in the fashion world. The weirder something looks the better, and you've likely won yourself a spot on the best-dressed list if your outfit looks like something that you found in your great aunt's closet from her "hippie phase" (that the rest of your family would prefer if she stopped talking about).

With a hefty price tag and the guarantee for some ~aesthetic~ Instagram photos, it's no surprise that the festival is crawling with celebrities. Some of them, like Vanessa Hudgens and Paris Hilton, are known for going to the festival year after year, and as some fans anxiously wait to see who will be headlining the next year, others wait to see how Hudgens will top her outfit from the year before.

Here are some of the best looks! from the 2017 festival that will undoubtedly give you fashion inspo for this year!

Worried that an elaborate Coachella outfit will make you sweat in the California heat? Take a cue from Steinfeld and go for a mesh top, like this one from ASOS Curve ($40 at ASOS).

3. Kylie Jenner

I resonate with the caption "I can't go home yet, cuz enough people ain't seen my outfit” on a spiritual level.

6. Lorde

Instead of using a real highlighter, go for a more dramatic look like Charles with pure glitter.

10. Kendall Jenner

5 Ways to Tell Your SO You Need Space

0
0

In a serious relationship, it’s easy to slowly lose sight of yourself when you’re with your SO every minute of the day. Even past the “honeymoon stage,” many couples find themselves spending no time apart, which can be unhealthy for the relationship. However, requesting space can sometimes come off the wrong way, leading the other person to believe he or she is losing you.

1. Define the type of space you need

There are different types of space that you may be craving in your relationship. If you need physical space, request a day or two of the week when the two of you will spend time apart pursuing your own activities. If you want emotional space, politely ask him or her to not interrupt or distract you when you’re doing something you enjoy. One way to go about this would be to say something like, "I'm reading this book (or whatever you do) right now, I would like some peace and quiet if that's okay." This way, you aren't coming off a rude and making it clear that you enjoy this personal time doing something you like.

2. Don’t use the word “space”

“I need my space” is too blunt and demanding, so try to be a little more sympathetic to his or her feelings. This phrase often serves as a sign that the relationship is coming to an end, and you don’t want to worry your partner. Instead, you can say, “I think we need more alone time,” or “I think we should take time to ourselves sometimes.” This way, you aren’t giving the illusion that you don’t enjoy spending time with that person or that you are annoyed.

Related: 5 Clingy Habits that are Ruining Your Love Life

3. Mention the reasons why

Most likely, your SO will probably be a little concerned no matter how you go about this. Therefore, it’s extremely important to immediately mention the reasoning behind your request. You should never just say you need time to yourself without explaining why, because that will only lead your SO to assume the worst. Be sure to mention what you will use that alone time for, such as exploring a hobby or catching up on school work. Chelsea Jackson, a junior at Iowa State University, says, “I would simply tell them that I need some time to relax by myself. I have had some issues with particularly clingy exes, where they have gotten upset that I wanted/needed some ‘me time.’ In situations like that, I typically just state that I'm busy and need to work on stuff, or I need some quality time with my roommates.” Anyone who truly cares about you will respect these types of requests.

4. Mention the benefits

There are many benefits to having alone time. For example, you could mention how the both of you could get your school work done faster without any distractions, or that alone time will make you cherish the time spent together even more. Most importantly, tell them you want space because you care about the relationship, not the opposite. Lindsey Allen, a sophomore at the University of New Haven, says, “Alone time is very healthy for a relationship because space/time away allows you to reflect and be your own person separate from your SO. If you spend too much time with your SO, it's harder to differentiate yourself from your relationship.” Having your own sense of self in a relationship is crucial for its success.

5. Listen and be considerate

Hopefully, your SO will understand your reasoning and respect your request. However, if your partner seems bothered or hurt by it, make sure you listen to them and come up with some type of compromise. You don’t want to negatively affect your relationship, and you shouldn’t demand something that will make your SO upset or uncomfortable. There is always a middle ground to be found.

It’s okay to need and want space in a relationship, and you should never feel ashamed for asking. If you’re with the right person, he or she will be understanding. With these steps, you can get the alone time you need without damaging the relationship.

Zendaya Attempting to Do a Face Mask with Glasses On Is So Relatable

0
0

For people who wear glasses, doing a face mask while also trying to wear your glasses and see is basically impossible. Wearing glasses during a mask leaves them all covered in gunk, but taking them off leaves you blind AF! Is there any winning here?

Teen Vogue noticed that Zendaya shared this uber-relatable struggle on herInstagram story this week, posting a boomerang with the caption, “Skincare is important...but I also gotta see the TV.”

GIRL, we feel you. Whether you're trying to watch Netflix or finish typing up a paper, you have to be able to see! The queen of skincare and relatability, of course, rocks her gold foil sheet mask with her glasses on (which, surprise, are totally adorable).

We love that she used her celebrity status to shed light on ~serious~ issues like these. Maybe after seeing her Instagram story, someone will invent something to combat Goopy Post-Mask Glasses Syndrome (*prays* please!). It's relieving to know that even someone as fab as Zendaya has some of the same struggles as us, especially since she's, like, more goddess than human.

Maybe celebs are just like us after all.
